Play to win
God is life

Be healed of your blindness

Find the treasure

Jesus is all you need

Find Jesus...Find life

"If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it."

I videotaped the program the other night
of the implosion of the Kingdome in Seattle.
It created a huge cloud of dust.
The crowd that came to watch it ran away
as the cloud attacked them.

"He was pierced for our offenses,
crushed for our sins,
Upon him was the chastisement that makes us whole,
by his stripes we were healed."
Isaiah 53:5

"By his wounds you were healed."
1 Peter 2:24

Christ was wounded for us.
He suffered for us.
Isaiah has a prophecy about this
and Peter echoes the thought.
Because of this we are healed.
We have forgiveness of our sins.
We have access to eternal life.
Christ sacrificed himself for us.
That is love.
That is true love.
Accept this healing.
Don't run away from the Lord.
Let the cloud of his love surround you.
It is a gift from God to you this day.
Thank him.

(March 30, 2000 6:11 AM CST)

I saw Josie yesterday at work.
She is 1 month old and so cute.
God bless her and her family.

"The Lord has sought out
a man (or woman) after his own heart..."
1 Samuel 13:14

The Lord is looking for you.
He wants to dwell in your heart.
He has created your heart.
You can't rest until you are with the Lord Jesus.
Will you let him find you?
Will you surrender your own heart to him?
Find that new life.
It starts off so small.
God will help you to grow.
I looked at the little hands of that baby yesterday.
How small our hands are compared to God.
Reach out in your own little way.
Jesus will hold you close to his heart.

(March 29, 2000 6:03 AM CST)

"When anyone acknowledges
that Jesus is the Son of God,
God dwells in him (or her)
and he (or she) in God."
1 John 4:15

Do you believe that Jesus is God?
Do you believe he is divine?
I pray that you come to know Jesus.
I pray that you find faith in him.
Take the "faith test".
Ask Jesus to come into your heart.
See if he changes your life.
See if he gives you peace.
Jesus, come and dwell with me.
I acknowledge you.
Walk with me.
Be part of my life.
Change me, Lord.
Forgive my sins.
Give me peace.
I need you, Lord.
Come stay with me.

(March 28, 2000 6:00 AM CST)

"Jesus said to her,
'Your sins are forgiven';
at which his fellow guests
began to ask among themselves,
'Who is this that he even forgives sins?'
Meanwhile he said to the woman,
'Your faith has been your salvation.
Now go in peace.'"
Luke 7:48-50

Jesus wants to give you peace.
He wants to forgive your sins.
Will you ask him?
Will you be humble enough to ask?
Jesus, forgive me.
I have sinned and done wrong.
Change my life, Lord.
Help me to overcome temptations.
Make me a new person.
Increase my faith and trust in you.
You are my hope.
You are my salvation.
Forgive my sins.
Amen.

(March 27, 2000 6:03 AM CST)

Yesterday I went of a trip to Atlantic, Iowa.
It's about 60 miles northeast of Omaha on Hwy 6.
The population is about 7,000 people.
God bless all the people that live there.

Jesus said,
"The greatest among you
will be the one who serves the rest.
Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled,
but whoever humbles himself shall be exalted."
Matthew 23:11-12

Are you great?
Do you serve others?
Are you humble?
Jesus is our example.
He came to serve others.
His life was a life of service to others.
He died for others so they could live.
I don't think Jesus received any awards.
I could be wrong about this.
He was anointed one day by that sinner.
One day a crowd wanted to make him king
and he walked away from them.
The leaders of the people wanted to kill him.
His entry into Jerusalem was a triumph,
or was it?
He was riding on a donkey.
Strange way to make an entry.
Was that the humble way to do it?
Have you received any awards lately?
How did you feel?
Or if the award went to someone else,
how did you feel about that?
Did you congratulate that person?
It is something to think about.

(March 26, 2000 7:27 AM CST)

"The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the just man runs to it and is safe."
Proverbs 18:10

Do you climb the steps each day?
Are you going up or down?
Are you getting closer to the Lord?
Seek the tower of faith.
Get up there where it is safe.
Get above the floods and storms.
Rest there.
Be with the Lord Jesus.
The Lord has built this tower.
Seek the higher things in life.
Jesus will hold your hand,
if you are scared of heights.
Look up.
Your safety is there.

(March 25, 2000 7:34 AM CST)

Gary wrote to me and asked for a change
to the main page.
He wanted me to add a link,
so he can write to us.
I'm sorry it is so hard to find this email address
way at the bottom of the page in small letters.
I added the "Write to us"
on the top left side.
I hope this helps.
Thanks, Gary.
God bless you and your family.

"Yours is the day, and yours the night;
you fashioned the moon and the sun.
You fixed all the limits of the land;
summer and winter you made."
Psalms 74:16-17

Offer this day to the Lord.
Make it something wonderful to behold.
Even offer your night to the Lord.
Rest in the Lord.
Be refreshed as you sleep.
God created us and we need sleep each night.
Do you get enough sleep?
He gives us the seasons.
Here in Omaha we are experiencing
beautiful spring weather.
It is sunny right now (8:13 AM) and
should get up to a high of 63F (17C) degrees later.
(Remember that -40F = -40C degrees.)
Enjoy the change of seasons.
God has made it.
It reflects God and his beauty.
It is a gift to us this day.
It is the cycle of life.
Life and death and life.
Jesus died and gave us new life
as he rose from the dead.
It is a reflection.

(March 24, 2000 6:09 AM CST)

Thank the Lord it is Friday.
We thank the Lord for some more rain yesterday.
Praise God from whom all blessings come.

The very first "bug" in a computer---
what was it?
(I found this using goto.com . See item #4.)

"Felix gave orders to the centurion
that Paul was to be kept in custody
but allowed some freedom,
and that no one was to prevent
his friends from seeing to his wants."
Acts 24:23

Here was Paul in prison.
What could he do?
He was locked up.
He had no freedom to travel around.
He wrote.
He wrote to you and me.
Have you read any of his letters?
Take some time and read his letters.
Some people call them
"Paul's Captivity Letters" .

(March 23, 2000 6:02 AM CST)

"I planted the seed and Apollos watered it,
but God made it grow.
This means that neither he who plants
nor he who waters is of any special account,
only God, who gives the growth."
1 Corinthians 3:6-7

They were just talking about this on KGBI 100.7 FM .
Then I look in the Bible just now and
find the same verse by coincidence.
You do your part.
God does his part.
Plant the seeds/ideas in others.
Watch them grow.
Sometimes I will say something to a person
and then months later hear the exact same thing back.
Tell people about Jesus.
Tell them how much he loves you.
God is life.
He is growth (the original "Miracle-Gro" ).
Go plant.

Do you know how to search for things on the Internet?
Here's what I do.
First I go to www.yahoo.com
and enter a few words of what I'm looking for
like "miracle grow" (I had misspelled it).
(If you enter "miracle gro", it finds it right away.)
It did not hit what I wanted.
Next you click on "Alta Vista" at the bottom of the screen.
This does a search with the same words
using the "Alta Vista" search engine.
You don't have to type the search words again.
If that does not work, I back up and try another search engine.
Another approach that I did was just to guess.
I guessed at the name of "www.miraclegrow.com"
and it hit and I looked around at that site.
I hope that helps your searching the Internet.

(March 22, 2000 6:07 AM CST)

Yesterday I had lunch with Bob.
He is retired from Mutual of Omaha .
I know him from church.
He showed up to buy Chinese food
from the House of Lee in Brandeis Building (16 at Douglas)
at the same time as I did yesterday.
We both ordered Broccoli Beef.
(Actually the lady behind the counter
asked me if I was going to order Broccoli Beef,
since I go there every week.)
As the years go on you learn
to recognize these "divine appointments"
that God makes for you.
He helps the elderly people in Paxton Manor
with their financial dealings.
God bless him.
Here is a Bible verse he read
to a person nearing death one day:

Jesus said,
"Do not let your hearts be troubled.
Have faith in God and faith in me.
In my Father's house
there are many dwelling places;
otherwise, how could I have told you
that I was going to prepare a place for you?"
John 14:1-2

Do you have time for an extra appointment?
Will you make time?
God brings people into your life.
Will you stop and talk to them?
Will you share some time with them?
You have much to learn from elderly people.
Many of them need a friend.
Will you be a friend to them?
And you never "retire".
The Lord will put you to work after you retire.
There is so much to do.
There are many people that need your skills.
Will you help them?
And you can remind these people
that God has prepared a place for them.

(March 21, 2000 6:04 AM CST)

Happy Birthday Alice!
God bless you.

Here's one of my favorite writings by Roy Campanella.
"I asked God for strength..."
It is in many places on the Internet.
Apparently many people like it.

"Happy are they whose way is blameless,
who walk in the law of the Lord,
Happy are they who observe his decrees,
who seek him with all their heart.
And do no wrong,
but walk in his ways."
Psalms 119:1-3

Are you happy?
Can you rejoice and be glad today?
Do you follow the Lord Jesus and his ways?
Do you do whatever you want?
There is a way that seems right.
Find it.
Find the way and you find truth.
Walk with the Lord.
He is your strength.
What do you ask for?
What do you seek?
Find Jesus and you have found life.
Be happy.

(March 20, 2000 6:04 AM CST)

Here is Josephine's favorite Bible verse:

Jesus said,
"Blest are they who have not seen
and have believed."
John 20:29

Jesus said this to Thomas.
Thomas did not believe what 10 people told him.
They told him Jesus was alive,
but Thomas knew Jesus was dead.
No one comes back to life after they have died.
(What about Lazarus?
He was dead for 4 days and came back to life.
See John 11:1-44 .)
Thomas had to see it for himself.
He did not believe without seeing.
Are you the same way?
Does the Lord have to appear to you?
Do you have to see the hands of Jesus in person?
Do you doubt his words?
Don't you believe him?
He said he would rise from the dead
and he did it.
Thomas was one of those witnesses.
He died for what he witnessed.
Almost all these witnesses died
telling people about Jesus.
Blessed are you if you believe without seeing.

(March 19, 2000 7:27 AM CST)

Yesterday at the Westroads
I found this Y2K piece of paper .
It was so colorful I just had to show you.
It appears to be a grocery list
and I'd like to see/attend the final result.

"The word is near you,
on your lips
and in your heart."
Romans 10:8

"It is something very near to you,
already in your mouths
and in your hearts;
you have only to carry it out."
Deuteronomy 30:14

You pick up the Bible and read it.
The words come alive.
They bring hope where there is no hope.
They bring joy where there is no joy.
Treasure the words in the Bible.
Put the words in your mouth.
Say them out loud.
Read the words to your children.
Put a smile on your face.
Rejoice in the words of God given to you.
You have only to open the book and read it.
Your heart will be touched.

(March 18, 2000 6:53 AM CST)

(Update at 10:11 AM:
We are getting some rain
that is much needed in our drought,
so we thank the Lord.
On page 69 of today's newspaper
there is a story that mentions the "rock and roll" church
that I attend ever once in a while.
There is a picture of Bonnie.
Many years ago we were next door neighbors.
God bless Bonnie and her family.
)

There is an email that I received
the other day about Kelsey Brooke Jones of Minnesota.
Have you seen it?
Here is more information on Kelsey .
She was missing for less than 2 hours,
but the email message has a life of its own.
The initial email was sent on October 11, 1999 and
I received it on March 16, 2000 at work.

"The blind and the lame came to him
inside the temple area
and Jesus cured them."
Matthew 21:14

You come to Jesus and he cures you.
He heals you.
He makes you well.
You may be "lost", but he finds you.
The whole world may think you are "lost" (a loser),
but if you have Jesus, you are "found".
Don't pay attention to what
the world around you thinks and says.
They are confused.
What is the truth?
Will you find it?
Hundreds of people can be wrong and misled.
Approach Jesus.
Go to him.
Be found.
Be healed.
Find out the truth.

(March 17, 2000 6:08 AM CST)

"Lo, I am sending my messenger
to prepare the way before me;
And suddenly there will come to the temple
the Lord whom you seek.
And the messenger of the covenant whom you desire.
Yes, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts."
Malachi 3:1

What does the future hold?
What will happen?
The Lord will be there.
Many messengers have told you this.
He will come in all his glory.
There will be no question about it.
Jesus Christ is Lord of all the world.
Do you look forward to this day?
Does it scare you?
Prepare to meet him.
Be ready.
Ask Jesus to forgive all your sins.
He will forgive all your past mistakes.
He makes all things new.
He says, have no fear.
Welcome him with joy.
He is coming.

(March 16, 2000 6:00 AM CST)

"How could you be so stupid?
After beginning in the spirit,
are you now to end in the flesh?"
Galatians 3:3

We all make mistakes.
Some are pretty stupid.
Your Mom said don't touch something
because it is hot and you did anyway.
You get burned for some "strange" reason.
Duh.
Here you know about God.
You know about the tremendous power of God.
He has unlimited resources.
And yet you try to be so independent.
You try to live without God in your life.
Why?
It makes no sense.
Call on the powerful name of Jesus.
Ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
You need the Lord.
You need him.
Don't let me say:
I told you so.

(March 15, 2000 6:04 AM CST)

Today is March 15th:
"The ides of March are come."
---Act 3, Scene 1, Julius Caesar

Yesterday Andrew and I helped with
Meals On Wheels
here in Omaha at Jackson Tower.
Maybe you can help with it in your community.

"Jesus began to weep,
which caused the Jews to remark,
'See how much he loved him!'"
John 11:35-36

Jesus weeps with you when you are sad.
He rejoices with you when you are happy.
He celebrates your victories.
He encourages you when you fail.
When you are all alone, he comes to visit you.
He is there...
every step of the way...
every turn of the wheel.
He loves you.

(March 14, 2000 6:00 AM CST)

Could you pray for Annette to find a job?
She is trusting the Lord.
There is a job just for her.
Thanks.

I filled out my Year 2000 Census form yesterday.
Did you get yours yet?
(If you don't live in the USA, ignore this.)

Remember I filed my taxes electronically?
Well, it took 13 days to get my refund.
Not to bad.

"In those days Caesar Augustus
published a decree ordering a census
of the whole world."
Luke 2:1

It is time to count.
It is time to look at inventory.
What is there?
Take a look at your life.
Do you have what it takes to live and survive?
I submit to you that you need Jesus.
Is he there in your accounting?
You need him.
Yes, you do.
You will not make it without him.
You can "count" on him.

(March 13, 2000 6:02 AM CST)

Yesterday we stopped in to the
BK at exit 75 on I-29 .
I said 'Hi' to Karen and Liz.
They recognize us after a few years of visits.
This is about 25 miles north of Omaha
along HWY 30.

Yesterday's newspaper (page 18 Entertainment)
had a picture of the Loretto Chapel staircase
in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
I'd like to see it someday.
When I was in ABQ (Albuquerque) in August, 1998
people told me to go see it.
They can't explain how it was built.

"When I behold your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars which you set in place ---
What is man that you should be mindful of him,
or the son of man that you should care for him?"
Psalms 8:4-5

We look at what the Lord has created.
We can't figure it out.
It defies explanation.
We watch our sun's activities
and are speechless.
And yet our awesome God watches over us.
He knows each of us by name.
He loves us.
He cares for us.
It is hard to explain.
Take a step of faith on the stairway to heaven.
It will hold you.
It will not collapse.
It is supported by the hand of God.
Take a look at that "miraculous" stairway.

(March 12, 2000 7:02 AM CST)

Yesterday I was watching TBN
and saw a 1.5 hour program on Arthur Blessitt .
The guy walks all over the world with the cross.
God bless him and his family.

Yesterday I went to the grocery store at 8010 S. 84th St.
in LaVista, Nebraska.
They are very friendly people.
Hi. Have a nice day.
Maybe that's because they are a small town.
They even have their own local newspaper (imagine that).
How did I pick out this store?
I found a receipt from this store
while walking at the Westroads.
The receipt had fallen out of someone's pocket
or they just intentionally tossed it on the floor.
Anyway God bless all you people
(I talked to Dan and Terrissa)
that work there and shop there.

Today I'm praying for Darva Conger .
She lost her job recently as a nurse in Los Angeles.
She was fired.
Her brother died unexpectedly within the last few weeks
from cerebral palsy.
Millions of people are criticizing her for her mistake
of marrying a total stranger.
I think she needs some prayers.
I think she needs some love and kindness.
I can't imagine the "Mass Media" being on my case.
What a nightmare.

"Jesus told them a parable
on the necessity of praying always
and not losing heart."
Luke 18:1

Prayer changes things.
Pray early.
Pray often.
Offer your life as a prayer to God.
Don't ever lose your heart.
Give it away (to Jesus).
Jesus, I ask you to bless Arthur
and what you have called him to.
I ask you to bless Darva.
Be with her in her sorrow.
Restore her life, Lord.

(March 11, 2000 6:17 AM CST)

Yes, that is right:
money does not make you happy.
I am experiencing this right now
and sharing this with you.
Here is the idea:
If you have $1K, you want $2K.
When you get $2K, you want $3K.
When you get $3K, you want more and more.
It never ends.
You never have "enough" money.
You always want more.
You are never satisfied.
It also hurts your spiritual life.
It is a distraction.
You think day and night about all your money
and how to make more.
It blocks God out.

This week at work they were selling daffodils
to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
They start off looking like big green sticks
and you put them in some water and
presto-change-o (if that's a word)
they bloom after two days.
I have 4 beautiful yellow daffodils over my cube.
It is a message to you and me
and those people I work with.
I'm always sending "messages"
to the people around me at work.
We all need to grow.
We need to change.
Then we can see the beauty.

"Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there
and spoke out fearlessly,
in complete reliance on the Lord.
He for his part confirmed the message
with his grace and
caused signs and wonders to be done at their hands."
Acts 14:3

You spend a lot of time at work.
Use that time to reach others.
Send those little signs and wonders to them.
You have contact with the infinite God.
Share what you know.
Confirm the message.
It is the truth.
Share your values.
Share your beliefs.
Share the beauty.
Go buy some daffodil-like things/flowers
and display them for the world to see.

(March 10, 2000 6:11 AM CST)

Katie is really going to Prague in a week or so.
(See January 28th, 2000 , if you don't remember.)
She said she will write from Europe
to give us updates of her travels.
Pray that she has a safe trip.

The birthday party?
It was a resounding success (of course)!
Joe said that he has never had
a better birthday party.
And me...I got blessed yesterday.
You know that Lord is so good to me.
Here I give Joe a birthday party and
the Lord blessed me with
a lot of money in the Stock Market
(take the day of the month of my birthday times $1K).
I tell people you can't out do the Lord in generosity.
The Lord is very good to me.
Andrea at the Westroads even gave me a free haircut.
Thanks!
I did give her a nice tip,
since I did so well in the Stock Market
and the haircut cost $0.
Then I was walking around the Westroads thinking:
money can't buy you happiness.
Here I have all this money
and no one to share it with (I'm single).
Well, I have the Lord Jesus.
He is my best friend.

"O Lord,
your kindness reaches to heaven;
your faithfulness, to the clouds."
Psalms 36:6

The Lord is kind.
He is wonderful.
He is faithful.
Just take a look at the clouds today.
The Lord has blessed me and
I'm praying that he blesses you even more.
Hey, if I get blessed...you get blessed.
Are you ready to be blessed?

(March 9, 2000 6:00 AM CST)

Could you pray for Bridget?
She needs surgery on one of her legs.
Thanks.
Winter has returned.
The south window in my kitchen is fogged up.
It is an indicator of a cold north wind.
Dress warm.

"All the friends of Jesus
and the women who had accompanied him from Galilee
were standing at a distance watching everything."
Luke 23:49

Is that you...
watching the world go by at a distance?
Are you at a safe distance?
You don't want to get involved.
You don't have the time or energy.
I'm telling you to get involved.
Get in there and mix.
Tell them you don't go to the casino and the reason.
Tell them you are going to vote for this person
and your thoughts.
Share with them the peace you have in your life.
Tell them about seeing the beauty of God
in the sunset yesterday.
(Driving home last night at 5:45 PM
going west on 40th and Dodge
the clouds and sun were awesome.
It gave me goose bumps.)
Tell them about reading the Bible each morning.
Tell them that Ashley Kennedy in New Orleans is wrong.
(See page 14 of yesterday's newspaper.)
She is a bartender that does not wear
her shirt during Mardi Gras.
She is evil.
She is completely misled.
This is "acceptable" behavior for Mardi Gras...
or is it?
Will you speak up and say it is not right?
Pray for Ashley.
The same thing happens in Las Vegas I hear.
Someone I work with was there on vacation
to see a magic show.
Well it was a different show than they expected
with these women not wearing enough clothes.
This is not right.
Say something.
You can change the world.
These things are not acceptable.
These women in Las Vegas are very confused.
God is not pleased with them.
Will you say something or
will you just watch from a distance?

(March 8, 2000 6:09 AM CST)

Chris says "Thanks" for the prayers for his wife.
She is better.
I talked to Chris yesterday at lunchtime.
Today is the start of Lent.
The Lord has lent you life.
He has given you many things.
What will you give back to the Lord?
Some churches put ashes on your forehead.
This is to remind you of the shortness of life.
You only have so much time.
What are you doing with this time?
Last evening was nice.
You did not even need a jacket to be outside.
I went to the store on 129 and Maple
to buy some paper plates and plastic forks
for Joe's birthday party (maybe tomorrow).
I heard a 5-second conversation
between a Mom and a daughter
as they passed me in one aisle.
"Why do we have to pay for things?
Why can't we just take it?"
"It is a rule," explained the Mom.
Rules.
Do you like rules?
Order.
Do you like order?
Chaos.
Do you like chaos?
This is Dan telling you stealing is wrong.
It is a sin (if you want to use that term).
God is not pleased, if you steal things.
It has been wrong for thousands of years
and still is wrong.
Why?
How do you feel if someone steals from you?
My friend Mary in California had her radio taken from her car.
There is a hole in her dashboard.
You can see the wires dangling there attached to nothing.
My niece had some things taken from her backpack at school.
She had to replace her pen/pencil and notebook.
When I was staying in a hotel room in Ohio in December
someone stole all my coins in my room.
I keep loose change for the pop machines or
to buy a newspaper from a vending machine.
I was not happy about it.
This is not right.
My brother in law had his car stolen just over a year ago
right before Christmas.
He was singing Christmas songs at a nursing home.
The car was recovered a few days later
and had to have hundreds of dollars in repairs done
to the steering wheel.
Merry Christmas.
Are you happy when it happens to you?

God says:
"You shall not steal."
Deuteronomy 5:19

It's one of them 10 Commandments, remember?
It makes life so much easier for all of us.
It creates order in the chaos.
God knows what works.
Do what he wants.
It makes life so much simpler.
It eliminates all kinds of unhappiness
and people being upset/angry.
Besides that...
you owe God one...
you owe him one.
You better "pay" him back.

(March 7, 2000 6:00 AM CST)

I forgot to tell you that our server was Brandon
on March 4th and we were at tables 44, 45 and 46 .
The lady at the cash register thanked me
for the postcard I sent her from California.
Our server of January 15th retired/quit she said.
Later that day I went to the grocery store
on southeast corner of 90th and Center.
They are testing this new electronic screen
to sell lottery tickets.
I bought a $1 ticket just to help test their system
and it did not work...I lost.
I will have to go back and talk to them.
Then I wonder if Christians should buy lottery tickets.
Probably not, but it was just $1.
At 9:45 AM yesterday I went to a new eye doctor John.
My other doctor retired.
I scared John.
I have not been putting my eye drops in my right eye,
since that tread mill test back on January 17th.
Back then they told me to stop the eye drops
for that test, but I did not start it back up.
The eye pressure (IOP) was about double (36 mm) what is normal.
I told him it was an experiment to see
if I still have glaucoma .
The answer is a resounding "yes" I do.
I must be in denial.
There is no pain with glaucoma.
You can have it and not know it.
Yes, I put the eye drops in this morning.
I definitely did not make a good first impression.
When I left the office
I was literally blinded by the light.
He had dilated my eyes and not told me.
Good thing I only had to walk a block back to work.
The sunshine off the sidewalk was extremely bright.
I couldn't look at my computer screen ,
so I printed off a "C" program to study
for an afternoon meeting review.
It took about 2 hours for my eyes to un-dilate.
Here is some vision trivia that I found.

"As Saul (Paul) traveled along
and was approaching Damascus,
a light from the sky suddenly flashed about him.
He fell to the ground..."
Acts 9:3-4

Paul saw the light.
It was visible to him.
It came from the Lord.
It was overwhelming.
The Lord comes to you today.
He is very bright.
Do you see him?
The darkness of the world can blind you.
Open your eyes and see.
Don't be scared.
Stop for a moment.
Yes, you are in a hurry running here and there,
but stop for a moment.
The Lord is calling you by name.
Get up off the ground and talk to the Lord.
He is there.
Talk to him.
Your life can change in a flash.
Are you in denial?
("I'm a good person."
"I'm going to heaven...I hope."
"I have not killed anyone."
"I don't believe in hell.")
It is a test.
Will you pass the test?

Yesterday I made 3 cakes "just in case" I need them.
(Joe's birthday is March 9th at work.)
I saw the town of Bennington, Nebraska yesterday.
It is northwest of Omaha a few miles.
I'm thinking about putting an advertisement
in the newspaper on maybe March 19 or 26 or
some Sunday soon this Spring.
I'm thinking about it.
The neighbor on the north side of me has been
watering their lawn lately.
Why?
It's March.
Remember?
It's like we skipped two months on the calendar.

"Praise be God,
the Father of mercies,
and the God of all consolation!
He comforts us in all our afflictions and
thus enables us to comfort those
who are in trouble, with the same consolation
we have received form him."
2 Corinthians 1:3-4

God has comforted you.
He has blessed you.
He has given you peace.
Now pass it on.
Comfort others.
Help those in trouble.
The Lord is with you.
Sometimes all it takes is to listen,
just stand there and
give your full attention to someone.
Look them in the eye with God's love and concern.
Be present to them.
Give them a hug.
Later lift them up in prayer.
Ask a few others to pray for them also.
On Saturday Tom was telling me that a neighbor of his
just found out he has brain cancer
and has less than a year to live.
So let's join Tom in prayer today for his neighbor.
It will not be easy.
Jesus, be with that family.

Yesterday I was out enjoying a beautiful spring day.
It was sunny and 70F degrees (21C).
I went to play golf with my nephew and older brother.
I even got 2 pars.
I could be wrong, but I don't think
I've ever played golf this early in the year.
The trees have no leaves on them at all.
A few trees have buds on them.
The grass is a little green,
but has a long way to go.
My allergies are getting to me.
I did not want to get up this morning,
as you can see by the timestamp above.
With God's help I'll make it through the day.

"When John caught sight of Jesus coming toward him,
he exclaimed:
'Look!
There is the Lamb of God
who takes away the sin of the world!'"
John 1:29

Look.
Take a good look.
It is Jesus coming your way.
Do you see him?
Can you look him in the face?
He is the one.
He can take away your sin.
He can restore you to life.
You are that tree with no leaves.
You need new life.
You need to grow.
You are that thirsty grass that needs rain.
You need water to survive.
Will you let Jesus help you?
He is life.
He will forgive your sins.
Just ask him:
Jesus, I have sinned.
I have done many wrong things.
Forgive me.
Help me to grow.
Bring me new life this spring.
Change me, Lord.

Katy from pets.com wrote back to me and says:
"His name is the Pets.com Sock Puppet."
Thanks, Katy!
Well, I think they should have a contest
to give the puppet a name.

"Give us new life,
and we will call upon your name.
O Lord of hosts, restore us,
if your face shine upon us,
then we shall be safe."
Psalms 80:19-20

Yes, we need new life.
Come Lord Jesus.
Come this Spring and make us grow.
We call on your holy name.
Shine your sunshine and warmth upon us.
Help us to grow.
Keep us safe from evil.
Protect us, Lord.
Help us to fight off
the temptations that come our way.
Make us strong.
You are our strength.
We praise your name, Lord Jesus.

Today?
What am I going to do today?
It is another adventure.
Everyday is an adventure.

I found out yesterday that Mike who I work with
got married last week.
Congratulations!
He sits on the other side of the floor.
We just have too big (80 people) of a group(s)
to keep track of what's happening.
I brought in 39 (3 of their dozen) of those
Panera Bread bagels yesterday
to celebrate our company stock going up over 11% in one day.
Then of course it dropped 10% the next day.
(March 1st and 2nd are the dates.)
It's like that song in the pets.com commercial
(because pets can't drive):
"What goes up, must come down..."
I just laugh so hard when I see those commercials.
(That's how weird I am. That's me.)
That sock puppet dog is great!
Does he/she have a name?
I just wrote them an email.
We'll see what they say.

Moses asked,
"What is his name?
What am I to tell them?"
Exodus 3:13

A name is very important.
You have a name.
You are given a name when you are born.
Some people change their name
when they are older.
When people come to the USA
sometimes they change their name.
Today I give you the name of names:
Jesus.
Remember that name and you have it made.
This is Dan/Daniel telling you that today.
This is from me to you and
you could be 3,000 miles (4,839 km) away from me.
Remember in this life...
it's who you know that counts.
Do you know Jesus?

(March 2, 2000 6:10 AM CST)

Yesterday morning I went to the funeral for Frances.
I did not know her,
but probably was in church many a time when she was
over the course of my life.
There was one moment during the service I will never forget.
It took only a split second.
As someone was passing the coffin,
they put their hand on it just briefly and
then continued walking by.
I did get to say a few words (and a handshake)
to one of her sons that I know.
He was walking his little girl up/down an aisle
in this large church.
So pray for their family.

This was one of the Bible readings at the service:

"Give her a reward of her labors,
and let her works praise her at the city gates."
Proverbs 31:31

Lord, welcome her at your gates.
Open the eternal city to her.
Reward her for a life of service to you.
Bless her family.
Comfort them.

(March 1, 2000 6:03 AM CST)

If you ever get a postcard from me,
be sure to read "both sides" .
It's one of them "surprises in life"
and you don't even know it exists.
...a hidden message...
It is right in your hands
and you can't see it.
You don't even know it is there.
It is real.
It exists.
It is something sitting there,
just waiting for you to discover it one day.
Joni would say/sing:
"I really don't know life at all."
To live life and miss the point of it all...
what a tragedy!

Yesterday at work this software would not take
"02/29/00" as a valid date.
I called the help desk and
they said they were working on it.
I checked it maybe once per hour
to see if it was fixed and they never fixed it.
Then late in the afternoon I received an email
to enter "03/01/00" for the date which it did accept
and behind the scenes they manually changed
the "03/01/00" to "02/29/00".
Then I had other problems anyway
on top of this unrelated to Y2K,
so I had to send an email to Sara
in Denver to help me.

"They came to Jericho next,
and as Jesus was leaving that place
with his disciples and a sizable crowd,
there was a blind beggar Bartimaeus
sitting by the roadside.
On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth,
he began to call out,
'Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!'"
Mark 10:46-47

Call out to the Lord today!
Yes, shout to the Lord.
He will hear your call for help.
You may be blind...he can heal you.
You may be deaf...he can heal you.
You may be spiritually dead...
he will bring you back to life.
Pray to him.
He will hear your prayer.
And ask Jesus to reveal the "hidden message" to you.
Get out the Bible and read it.
Read a chapter a day of the Gospels
( Matthew , Mark , Luke , and John .
Pick your favorite translation and go for it.)
It is right there in your hands to be discovered.
Can you find it?
It can only be seen in the "reflection" of the light of God.
Do you see it?
"Oh, there it is!" or "Yes, I see it now!" you will say.
