Give God Everything
Live For God

Ask Forgiveness

Seek Shelter

(April 30, 2000 7:37 AM CDT)

"You must put on the armor of God
if you are to resist on the evil day;
do all that your duty requires,
and hold your ground.
Stand fast..."
Ephesians 6:13-14

Hold your ground.
Do not fall back.
Evil will attack you.
Hold your place.
God is beside you in the fight.
Resist evil.
Do good.
It is required.
It is your duty.

(April 29, 2000 7:33 AM CDT)

"Although you have not seen him,
you love him, and without seeing
you now believe in him, and rejoice
with inexpressible joy touched with glory
because you are achieving faith's goal,
your salvation."
1 Peter 1:8-9

What is salvation?
Have you found it?
Is it yours?
You have not seen Jesus.
He is there.
He is waiting to help you.
Your salvation is Jesus.
He is inexpressible joy.
Love Jesus with all your heart.
Believe in him.
Find salvation.
"Into these matters angels long to search." (Verse 12)
Do you?

(April 28, 2000 6:02 AM CDT)

The Nina and Pinta were what type of ship?
They were small, "fast", light and easy to steer.

Jesus said,
"Let the children come to me
and do not hinder them.
It is to just such as these
that the kingdom of God belongs.
I assure you that whoever does not accept
the reign of God like a little child
shall not take part in it."
Mark 10:14-15

Well there you have it...
you need to be like a little child.
You trust.
You are small (no ego).
You are teachable (easy to steer).
You are an explorer and curious about things.
You ask lots of questions.
You run to Jesus, if you skin your knee.
You play with flashlights in the dark closet (of life)
to see your way.
You have fun.
Life is a joy.
You celebrate birthdays.
You have many of friends.
It is something to think about and consider!
You need to be a child.

(April 27, 2000 6:00 AM CDT)

What are the exchange rates for money?
Here is a table for converting U S dollars .
You notice that the Baht is in what country?

"I will call upon God,
and the Lord will save me."
Psalms 55:17

He is there.
He is help.
He is hope.
Call on the Lord Jesus.
He will come and save you.
No problem is too big for him.
No problem is too small.
He is concerned about you.
Call on the Lord.
Exchange your problems for something
completely different and foreign to you.

(April 26, 2000 6:06 AM CDT)

"My prayer is that your sharing
of the faith with others may enable you
to know all the good which is ours in Christ.
I find great joy and comfort in your love,
because through you the hearts
of God's people have been refreshed."
Philemon 1:6-7

What is your prayer?
Do you have a prayer?
Do you pray?
I hear about people that pray for 3 hours per day.
They get up very early.
Do you pray 5 minutes each day?
Know goodness.
Be refreshed.
Pray to God.

(April 25, 2000 6:05 AM CDT)

A person I knew from grade school died recently.
They were the same age as me.
Pray for them and their family.

"I saw before me a huge crowd
which no one could count
from every nation and race, people and tongue.
They stood before the throne and the Lamb,
dressed in long white robes and
holding palm branches in their hands.
They cried out in a loud voice,
'Salvation is from our God,
who is seated on the throne,
and from the Lamb!'"
Revelation 7:9-10

Are you in the crowd?
Are you dressed in white?
Who is the lamb?
It is the end of time.
The Lamb is Jesus Christ.
The crowd is "the ones who survived
the great period of trial." (Verse 14)
Today you are in the trial.
Christ is here to help you.
He washes your sins clean.
Ask him to forgive you.
Stand with the Lamb in that huge crowd.

(April 24, 2000 6:03 AM CDT)

This morning I'm getting an
"Error on Connect: 10061
WSAECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by Host"
Will that stop me?
I will find a way around it.
I just tried FTP and that failed also.
It will slow me down.

Then Jesus told them:
"Go into the whole world and
proclaim the good news to all creation.
The man (or woman) who believes in it
and accepts baptism will be saved;
the man (or woman) who refuses
to believe in it will be condemned."
Mark 16:15-16

You know about Jesus.
You know he died and rose from the dead.
Are you going to share what you know?
Many people have never been baptized.
Many people have not heard any good news.
They are searching for the truth
and you know it.
Share what you know.
As you can see by me fighting the computer connection today,
sharing the good news is not easy.
The forces of evil will try to stop you,
but God is on your side.
In the end the good side will win.
The good news will be proclaimed.

(April 23, 2000 7:12 AM CDT)

Good morning.
Happy Easter to you.
Did you see the beautiful sunrise at 6:20 AM?

"Why do you search for
the Living One among the dead?
He is not here;
he has been raised up.
Remember what he said to you
while he was still in Galilee ---
that he Son of Man must be delivered
into the hands of sinful men,
and be crucified,
and on the third day rise again."
Luke 24:5-7

Yes, Jesus Christ died.
He was dead.
They saw him die.
Now they hear that he is alive.
Can it be true?
He did predict it would happen.
How did he know?
Now they see him alive.
He is not a ghost.
They can touch him and see his wounds.
It is Jesus.
How can this be?
Jesus rose from the dead.
It is resurrection day.
It is true.
There were over 500 witnesses.
Jesus is alive.
Happy Easter.

(April 22, 2000 8:35 AM CDT)

"In the days when he was in the flesh,
he offered prayers and supplications
with loud cries and tears to God,
who was able to save him from death,
and he was heard because of his reverence.
Son though he was,
he learned obedience from what he suffered;
and when perfected,
he became the source of eternal salvation
for all who obey him..."
Hebrews 5:7-9

Christ is our source.
He gives us access to eternal life.
He can save you from death.
Do you know him?
He is our hope.
He is our only hope for salvation.

(April 21, 2000 6:49 AM CDT)

We thank Jesus Christ today
for giving up his life for us.
Thank you, Jesus.
Here is how Rembrandt painted the events .

Jesus said,
"Father, forgive them;
they do not know
what they are doing."
Luke 23:34

Jesus forgave even those who killed him.
Some of them are probably in heaven.
They were converted by his forgiveness.
Ask Jesus to forgive your sins today.
Do you know what you are doing?

(April 20, 2000 5:57 AM CDT)

Today the DJ Jeff at KGBI FM 100.7
is going to Kenya .
This is a mission trip to spread the gospel.
God bless him.
Pray for him.
I hope he can speak some Swahili .
Here are some common Swahili words .

Jesus said,
"The reason I was born,
the reason why I came into the world,
is to testify to the truth.
Anyone committed to the truth hears my voice."
John 18:37

Do you hear the voice of Jesus?
Do you believe him?
It is the truth.
He is the truth.
Believe in Jesus.
Believe in his words.
Hear the voice of God and be still.
Jesus is your "rafiki" ("friend" in Swahili).

(April 19, 2000 6:08 AM CDT)

The doctor changed my medicine yesterday.
Now I'm using COSOPT eye drops.
This keeps the pressure down in my right eye.
The doctor put these drops in my eye
and the pressure went from 28mm to 22mm in about 15 minutes.
I need to read up on the medicine.

"After this discourse,
Paul knelt down with them all and prayed.
They began to weep without restraint,
throwing their arms around him and kissing him,
for they were deeply distressed to hear that
they would never see his face again.
Then they escorted him to the ship."
Acts 20:36-38

One day you are here and the next day there.
Do you look for the next adventure
or do you wish nothing would change?
The Lord Jesus calls you to great things.
You will change.
You will have to say good-bye from time to time.
(I want to keep taking my old eye drops.
I don't want to change.
But I need to change.)
Hopefully you leave your sin behind.
You move to another level of holiness.
There are more people that need to know about Jesus.
That is why you keep moving.
You are loved by God and sent to others.
Kneel down and pray.
See the face of God.

(April 18, 2000 6:05 AM CDT)

If you live in Nebraska,
they have asked you to vote
for the next license plate design .
I just voted for the first one.
Which one do you like?

"Have pity on me, O God;
have pity on me,
for in you I take refuge.
In the shadow of your wings I take refuge,
till harm pass by."
Psalms 57:2

We have sinned.
We go hide.
We get lost.
The Lord Jesus will bring us from the shadows.
He covers us with his love and mantle.
He protects us and rescues us from harm.
Save us, Lord.
You are our refuge.
You are our shelter.

(April 17, 2000 6:13 AM CDT)

Two days ago I found this at the Westroads.
It asks: "What difference do I make?"
Good question for you today.
It was folded over and
caused the crease that you see.

"A man named Simon of Cyrene,
the father of Alexander and Rufus,
was coming in from the fields,
and they pressed him into service
to carry the cross."
Mark 15:21

Simon made a difference.
He helped Jesus in his time of suffering.
He lightened his load.
Do you help others carry their cross?
It is too heavy for them.
You can make the difference.
You can share in their moment of need.
Be creased (bent over, weighed down) for Christ.

(April 16, 2000 7:34 AM CDT)

It is Holy Week Year 2000.
We remember all that Jesus has done for us.

"Then Jesus went with them
to a place called Gethsemani.
He said to his disciples,
'Stay here while I go over there and pray.'
He took along Peter and Zebedee's two sons,
and began to experience sorrow and distress."
Matthew 26:36-37

Jesus loved you that much.
He was in sorrow and pain.
He asks you to pray this week.
Stop and reflect on his love for you.
Maybe you are in sorrow and pain.
Jesus prays with you.
Stop and pray.

(April 15, 2000 9:24 AM CDT)

The other night on TV they replayed
the movie from ABC TV in 1983
called "The Day After" .
I can remember how they really "hyped" this movie
when it first was shown.
It shows how unthinkable/unwinable nuclear war is.
Would anyone survive it?
Would you even want to survive?
My thought on this is that:
God would never allow all-out nuclear war.
It is his world and he is in control.
He would not let man destroy his creation.
It is not part of his plan for us.

"You are a chosen race,
a royal priesthood,
a holy nation,
a people he claims for his own
to proclaim the glorious works
of the One who called you from darkness
into his marvelous light.
Once you were no people,
but now you are God's people;
once there was no mercy for you,
but now you have found mercy."
1 Peter 2:9-10

You are special.
You are chosen.
God has called you.
He has blessed you.
He watches over you.
He will protect you from evil.
Receive mercy from above.
You are special.

(April 14, 2000 6:14 AM CDT)

I read in the newspaper last night
that Billy Graham's wife Ruth is sick.
She had surgery on her hip.
God be with her.

"I wish to know Christ
and the power flowing from his resurrection;
likewise to know how to share in his sufferings
by being formed into the pattern of his death.
Thus do I hope that I may arrive
at resurrection from the dead."
Philippians 3:10-11

Easter is approaching fast.
It celebrates the resurrection of Christ.
Do you understand it?
Do you know what it is about?
There is power there.
There is suffering involved.
Dwell on these things.
Christ went through these sufferings.
We suffer.
One day we will arrive at resurrection.
Do you see the pattern?
Death has no more power because of Christ.
Share your sufferings with the Lord.
It is power.

(April 13, 2000 6:06 AM CDT)

Last night I was playing the game at abc.com .
Whoever developed the game site
did a very good job.
Now I can play along with the TV program in real time.
You have to download flash 4 (whatever that is),
which they walk you through.
It takes about 20 minutes to set up and test.

"There was a man named John sent by God,
who came as a witness to testify to the light,
so that through him all men might believe ---
but only to testify to the light,
for he himself was not the light.
The real light which gives light to every man
was coming into the world."
John 1:6-9

You test things.
They either work or not.
You testify to the truth.
People either believe or not.
The light works or not.
The room is lit up or it stays dark.
Jesus came to the world 2,000 years ago.
Is the world a brighter place?
Did he make a difference?
Did he pass the test?
Will you pass the test?
Will you make the world brighter?

(April 12, 2000 6:06 AM CDT)

This morning I was looking up information on cuneiform .
Was it the Sumerians or Assyrians that used it or both?
(Update 4-13-00: The Sumerians invented it.)
I think both, but I will keep reading and studying.

"Let him who is wise understand these things;
let him who is prudent know them.
Straight are the paths of the Lord,
in them the just walk,
but sinners stumble in them."
Hosea 14:10

The Lord makes our paths straight.
He leads us to the truth.
We search for what is correct.
What is the correct answer?
If you stumble, get back up.
Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive you.
Keep seeking the truth.
Don't give up.
Take the hand of the Lord.
Let him help you.
Keep making progress in holiness.
Know the Lord.
Be wise.

(April 11, 2000 6:07 AM CDT)

We thank the Lord for the rain yesterday.
Praise the Lord.

"There is cause for rejoicing here.
You may for a time have to suffer
the distress of many trials;
but this is so that your faith,
which is more precious
than the passing splendor of fire-tried gold,
may by its genuineness
lead to praise, glory and honor
when Jesus Christ appears."
1 Peter 1:6-7

You may be asking:
What do I have to rejoice about?
Maybe you are losing your job
or your Mom or Grandmother just died
or you have surgery scheduled next week
or you lost thousands of dollars in the stock market
or you are depressed
or your child was arrested by the police
or you are getting gray hair
or your spouse has left you
or what?
What can keep you from rejoicing?
These are trials.
Jesus is there to help you through them.
Call on him.
Be shown glory...
glory from above.

(April 10, 2000 6:06 AM CDT)

One of the questions last night on TV
was about the Mohs Scale .
A hardness of 10 is a diamond .
I did not know that.

"No one can lay a foundation other than
the one that has been laid,
namely Jesus Christ.
If different ones build on this foundation
with gold, silver, precious stones,
wood, hay or straw,
the work of each will be made clear.
The Day will disclose it."
1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Build on the rock.
Add to what Jesus has done.
Will you add something that will last?
Will it endure the fire to come?
The test will come.
We know it.
You know it.
Make sure your life is solid and precious.
Be a diamond (that lasts forever).

(April 9, 2000 7:58 AM CDT)

Today is the Spaghetti Dinner at St. Ann's Church
on 24th and Poppleton Ave here in Omaha.
The time is Noon to 6 PM.
My family never misses it.
They have it twice a year.

This week Billy Graham
will have 2 TV programs.
You can search these TV Listings .
In Omaha they are on channel 15 KXVO
Friday, April 14th at 9 PM and
Saturday, April 15th at 7 PM.
In Lincoln they are on channel 10 KOLN
Thursday, April 13th at 7 PM and

"That divine power of his
has freely bestowed on us
everything necessary for a life of genuine piety,
through knowledge of him
who called us by his own glory and power."
2 Peter 1:3

You have what it takes.
You are a child of God.
You can do it.
You can lead a holy life.
You can live of life of piety.
Is it easy?
No, but Christ is there to help you.
You are meant to do great things.
You are meant for glory in heaven.
All glory and power is yours in Christ.

(April 8, 2000 7:34 AM CDT)

Could you pray for someone that has
a shoplifting problem ?
They stole $400 worth of things last week.
They need help.

"We are afflicted in every way possible,
but we are not crushed;
full of doubts, we never despair.
We are persecuted but never abandoned;
we are struck down but never destroyed.
Continually we carry about in our bodies
the dying of Jesus,
so that in our bodies
the life of Jesus may also be revealed."
2 Corinthians 4:8-10

We are knocked down, but we get back up.
That is because Jesus lives within you.
That is the ups and downs of life.
Jesus is there helping us up.
He will not abandon you.
We continue on.
We continue to get stronger.
We survive and grow.
Jesus is there.
He will lift you up.

(April 7, 2000 6:10 AM CDT)

I forgot to tell you that we set
a record high of 88F (31C) on April 5.
Maybe there is something to this global warming.

"Jesus uttered a loud cry and said,
'Father, into your hands
I commend my spirit.'
After he said this, he expired."
Luke 23:46

"Into your hands I commend my spirit;
you will redeem me, O Lord, O faithful God."
Psalms 31:6

Jesus quoted the Psalms
as he was dying on the cross.
He called out to God the Father.
We should do the same.
Read the Psalms.
Father in heaven hear our prayer this day.
Save us, Lord.
We need help.
We give all our spirit to you.
We surrender everything to you.
Jesus redeemed us, by giving up his life.
We thank you, Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit.
We praise the Holy Trinity.

(April 6, 2000 6:05 AM CDT)

Hey, things are working again.
I signed in with no problems this morning.
Thanks for the prayers to get it fixed.

"Israel loved Joseph best of all his sons,
for he was the child of his old age;
and he had made him a long tunic."
Genesis 37:3

Last night on PBS TV they tried
to tell the story of Joseph .
You know how moviemakers are...
The story gets lost in all the colorful sights.
If you want to read the story for real,
it's in Genesis Chapters 37, 39 - 45.
It's one of my favorite stories in the Bible.
Here is Joseph in jail and all seems lost,
but God brings good from his misfortune.
Maybe you're reading this "in jail".
God can bring good from your situation.
He can rescue you and your whole family.
Do you have a dream?

(April 5, 2000 6:02 AM CDT)

I'm writing this offline right now.
I can't signin on my ISP (novia.net).
I'm getting an Error 629 trying to connect.
So if you pray right now,
can your prayers go back in time to resolve this?
Good question.
It's like praying for a child (Amanda Bundy)
that was sick back in 1998, but is not sick today.
God bless that Amanda and her family today.

"May the Lord give strength to his people;
may the Lord bless his people with peace!"
Psalms 29:11

It is there when you need it.
Just ask the Lord for strength.
I've talked to 2 people in the last few months
that were involved in car accidents.
They had that strength to stay calm
in the situation.
In both cases they were in the wrong.
They were making left-hand turns
at an intersection (144 & Center, 13 & Martha)
and caused the accident.
The Lord is there to bless you with peace.
Everyone can be upset around you
and you can handle the problem whatever it is.
That is a blessing from above to you.
Thank the Lord for his strength.
Praise him for his peace.
And be careful when making left-hand turns.

(April 4, 2000 6:11 AM CDT)

Yes, I fought the cool wind yesterday
and got the lawn mowed.
With Daylight Savings Time there is now
plenty of daylight to get things done after work.
My brother was nice enough to come out
and change the oil.
God bless him.

"Timothy is our brother and
God's fellow worker in preaching
the gospel of Christ,
and so we sent him
to strengthen and encourage you
in regard to your faith
lest any of you be shaken by these trials."
1 Thessalonians 3:2-3

The Lord sends people into our lives.
They are our brothers and sisters.
They are there to encourage us.
Receive these people with love.
Welcome them when they come.
Confirm their mission in life.
Give them affirmation.
They are there to help you in these trials.
They help you even with little things
(like changing the oil in a lawn mower).
God is good to you.
He will never leave you.
He sends you strength.
He sends you friends.
May your faith be strong.
May your faith endure.
Be blessed.

(April 3, 2000 6:05 AM CDT)

I went to Nebraska City, Nebraska.
It is south of Omaha 45 miles on Hwy 75.
God bless all the people there.

"Jesus was fully aware that his disciples were murmuring
in protest at what he had said:
'Does it shake your faith?' he asked them."
John 6:61

How strong is your faith?
Will you stand with the Lord?
Are you murmuring?
Are you shaken?
Do you argue with the Lord?
Do you pick and choose what you believe
from what Jesus has said?
Read the words of Jesus.
Know what he has said.
Trust in his words.
He said his words are "spirit and life"
(in verse 63).
Believe them.

(April 2, 2000 7:34 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Avoid greed in all its forms.
A man may be wealthy,
but his possessions do not guarantee him life."
Luke 12:15

Do you share what you have?
Are you a generous person?
Do you give of your time to help others?
Yesterday at the Westroads Mall I found a dollar
on the floor.
It was right in plain view on the first level
by the north entrance to J. C. Penney.
I will put that dollar in the collection basket today.
Do you contribute anything to help your church?
Your gift no matter how big or small
helps build the kingdom of God.

(April 1, 2000 7:40 AM CST)

I think I'll have to get out the lawn mower today
and see if it will start for year 2000.
Is it Y2K compliant? We will see.
I will test it out.
The grass is getting a little long in places.
A number of people have already mowed their lawn
in the last 2 weeks.

"My God in turn will supply your needs fully,
in a way worthy of his magnificent riches in Christ Jesus.
All glory to our God and Father for unending ages!
Philippians 4:19-20

We are reminded of God's riches.
Everything is his.
We are only stewards.
We are just caretakers.
What are you doing with
the things that God has given you?
Do you give Christ the glory?
Do you give praise to him?
We praise you, Lord, today for all your riches.
We bless you.
You are worthy of all our praises.
Forever and ever you are magnificent.
We join heaven and earth to praise you today.
Everything is yours.
