"You are well acquainted
with the favor shown you by our Lord Jesus Christ:
how for your sake he made himself poor
though he was rich,
so that you might become rich by his poverty."
2 Corinthians 8:9

Jesus became poor.
He lived in poverty.
He was not wealthy.
He chose that way of life.
It gives us much to think about.
Why would he do that?
He wanted to teach us something.
He wanted us to know that money is not that important.
Yesterday Apple Computer dropped over 50 per-cent in value.
Is your life based on wealth?
You need security.
Where do you find it?
It is not in the Stock Market.
One day the money will all be gone.
It will be worthless.
What will last?
What will endure?
That is what Jesus was trying to teach us.
Seek eternal things.
Seek security in God.
Seek everlasting life.

(September 29, 2000 5:58 AM CDT)

"As for you,
be steady;
put up with hardship,
perform your work as an evangelist,
fulfill your ministry."
2 Timothy 4:5

Be steady.
Be consistent.
Love the Lord with all your heart.
Endure hardships and pain.
Be strong in the Lord.
Work.
Do what the Lord calls you to do.
Share what you know about Christ.
Fulfill your mission.

(September 28, 2000 5:58 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Just as the Father raises the dead and grants life,
so the Son grants life to those to whom he wishes."
John 5:21

God grants you life.
Your heart is beating.
You blink your eyes.
You are alive.
Your life is new every day.
The Father raises you above death.
He calms your fears.
Life is yours through Jesus Christ.
Grace is given to you.
You receive blessings that sustain you.
You receive joy in the morning.
You are granted life.
Thank the Lord.

(September 27, 2000 6:03 AM CDT)

"Give thanks to the Lord,
for he is good,
for his kindness endures forever!"
Psalms 107:1

We thank the Lord.
We are grateful for all that he has done.
He is good.
He is goodness.
He is kind.
He is kindness.
He endures for all time.
We praise the Lord.
We lift up the name of the Lord.
Bless the Lord.
He is deserving of all our praise.
Praise the Lord.

(September 26, 2000 5:57 AM CDT)

"What we are aiming at in this warning
is the love that springs from a pure heart,
a good conscience, and sincere faith."
1 Timothy 1:5

If your heart is right with God,
you will naturally love others.
If your conscience is good,
you will act justly.
If your faith is sincere,
your life will have direction.
Be a loving person.
Be a sincere individual.
Aim for heavenly things.
Aim for love.

(September 25, 2000 5:58 AM CDT)

Please, pray for my Uncle Joe that is in the hospital.
And pray for Barb, Dave and Katie.
Thanks.
God bless them.

"Hoping against hope,
Abraham believed
and so became the father of many nations..."
Romans 4:18

Hope is so important.
It is critical.
We need hope.
As bad as everything looks,
God will win in the end.
His kingdom will come.
God is in control.
He made the universe.
He rules all creation.
Put your hope in Christ.
Trust in him.
Pray to him.
Christ is our hope.

(September 24, 2000 7:20 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Again I tell you,
if two of you join your voices on earth
to pray for anything whatever,
it shall be granted you
by my Father in heaven.
Where two or three are gathered in my name,
there am I in their midst."
Matthew 18:19-20

Gather together.
Get together.
Pray together.
Agree in prayer together.
Pray together as a family.
These are powerful prayers.
That is why I ask you to pray for people.
Yes, I could pray for people by myself,
but if you pray with me, it is more powerful.
That is why it is so important to attend church.
Gather together in the name of Jesus Christ.
The Lord Jesus is there.
You meet him.
He is among you.
He blesses his people.
Go to a Christian church today and every Sunday.
Jesus will be in your midst.

(September 23, 2000 8:39 AM CDT)

"Guard the rich deposit of faith
with the help of the Holy Spirit
who dwells with in us."
2 Timothy 1:14

You could lose it.
You could get lost.
Call on the Holy Spirit for help.
Guard your gift of faith.
Defend it with the Spirit's help.
It is riches beyond your dreams.
It is hope for eternity.
It is salvation for you and your family.
May the Spirit dwell in you.
May you be led by the Spirit.
Guard your faith.
Pray to the Holy Spirit.
Be on guard.

(September 22, 2000 5:55 AM CDT)

Pray for all the girls and boys at
Girls and Boys Town today.
God bless them all.
Thanks.

"When the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,
he saved us;
not because of any righteous deeds we had done,
but because of his mercy.
He saved us through the baptism of new birth
and renewal by the Holy Spirit."
Titus 3:4-5

Be baptized.
Be renewed in the Holy Spirit.
Receive the mercy of God.
God is good.
He is kind.
He loves you.
Be a new person.
Start over again.
Be set free.
Find new birth in Jesus Christ.
He is new life.

(September 21, 2000 6:06 AM CDT)

Yesterday at work some people lost their jobs.
They were asked to leave.
It made for a very stressful and somber day.
So pray for those people to find other jobs.
Thanks.

Jesus said,
"You cannot tell by careful watching
when the reign of God will come.
Neither is it a matter of reporting
that it is 'here' or 'there.'
The reign of God is already in your midst."
Luke 17:20-21

Surprise!
The reign of God is here.
The glory of God has been revealed.
Jesus Christ has come.
He is alive.
He lives today.
What are you looking for?
What are you waiting for?
Christ is in your midst.
He is here.
He is now.
The report is in.
Welcome him.
Receive him with joy today.

(September 20, 2000 6:02 AM CDT)

We thank the Lord for the rain yesterday and this morning.

"Jesus looked at them and said,
'For man (or woman) it is impossible;
but for God all things are possible.'"
Matthew 19:26

You need God's help.
You will not make it on your own.
The road is difficult.
You will stumble and fall.
You need the help of the Lord.
Call on the name of the Lord.
He has opened the doors of heaven.
You could never have done that.
Be thankful for all that Christ has done.
He makes all things possible.
God is good.

(September 19, 2000 5:57 AM CDT)

"So let us confidently approach the throne of grace
to receive mercy and favor and
to find help in time of need."
Hebrews 4:16

Come before God's throne.
Ask for mercy.
Ask for favor.
Ask for help.
God is good.
He is all love.
He is abundant grace.
Lord Jesus, forgive our sins.
Give us good health.
Send rain for the fields.
We depend on you.
You are our hope.
We need you, Lord.

(September 18, 2000 5:59 AM CDT)

"For he has freed my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling.
I shall walk before the Lord
in the land of the living."
Psalms 116:8-9

The Lord is there.
He has dried your tears.
He has picked you up.
He has set your soul free to fly.
He walks with you.
He holds you.
He restores your life.
He blesses you with joy.
The Lord is life.

(September 17, 2000 7:20 AM CDT)

This lady at the nursing home yesterday
kept saying "three four two" over and over.
Pray for her and all the people there.
Thanks.

"He then said,
'Jesus, remember me
when you enter upon your reign.'"
Luke 23:42

Yes, Jesus, remember me.
I am lost and all alone.
I call out and no one hears me.
But you are there.
Save me.
Hear my prayers.
Bring me home where you are.
I want to be with you.

(September 16, 2000 8:27 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Anyone among you who aspires to greatness
must serve the rest,
and whoever wants to rank first among you
must serve the needs of all.
Such is the case with the Son of Man
who has come,
not to be served by others,
but to serve,
to give his own life as a ransom for the many."
Matthew 20:26-28

Christ is our example.
He shows us the way.
He offered up his own life.
He paid the ransom.
He freed us from imprisonment.
He serves us.
He is thoughtful and kind.
He is all mercy and love.
Aspire to greatness.
Serve others.
Serve their needs.

(September 15, 2000 6:01 AM CDT)

"In the Lord's eyes,
one day is as a 1,000 years and
a 1,000 years are as a day."
2 Peter 3:8

The Lord's timing is different than ours.
He looks at the big picture.
Go to him for wisdom and guidance.
He knows the best path to take.
He is very patient.
He waits for you.
He longs for you to be his friend.
Seek him for leadership.
Seek him for knowledge.
He is a true friend.

(September 14, 2000 6:02 AM CDT)

"Now that you have come to know God ---
or rather, have been known by him ---
how can you return
to those powerless, worthless, natural elements
to which you seem willing
to enslave yourselves once more?"
Galatians 4:9

Some of you know all about God.
You have met him.
You have walked with him.
You love him.
Will you now turn away?
Will you leave the safety of God?
Will you go off on your own way?
How can you leave it all behind?
Call on the name of the Lord.
Return to your first love.
Come home where you belong.
God is waiting to welcome you.
He knows you.

(September 13, 2000 5:58 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"I warn you,
you will not be released
until you have paid the last penny."
Matthew 5:26

Who pays the price for sin?
Can you redeem your sins?
Of course not.
Only Jesus redeems your sins.
It is impossible for us.
We call on the mercy of God.
Call on the name of Jesus to forgive you.
God warns us.
He tells us what it takes to be free.
Jesus, forgive our sins today.
Make us clean.
Redeem us.
Save us.

(September 12, 2000 5:57 AM CDT)

"Happy is the person who has regard
for the lowly and the poor;
in the day of misfortune
the Lord will deliver them.
The Lord will keep and preserve them."
Psalms 41:1-3

The Lord is your protection.
He is your defense from the storm.
Reach out to the lonely and the forgotten.
Be a friend to them.
Listen to them.
Give them food, if they are hungry.
Provide them with clothes.
The Lord will not forget you.
He will watch over you.
On the last day he will welcome you home.

(September 11, 2000 6:06 AM CDT)

"The hand of the Lord was with them
and a great number of them believed
and were converted to the Lord."
Acts 11:21

We pray today for all people.
We pray that all will find Jesus Christ.
We pray for conversions.
We pray for a large number of conversions.
May the Lord pour out his Holy Spirit.
May the hearts of many be turned toward God.
We pray for a great many people.
May they find the true God.
May they be touched by God's hand.
We ask for many people.
We expect great things to happen.
We see God's hand moving.
We ask this all in the name of Jesus.

(September 10, 2000 7:28 AM CDT)

Thanks for the prayers.
One of the people is out of the hospital.
They went home yesterday.

Jesus said,
"This sickness is not to end in death;
rather it is for God's glory,
that through it the Son of God may be glorified."
John 11:4

Jesus has the power over life and death.
Lazarus was sick.
He was very sick and died.
Jesus brought him back to life
after he was dead for 4 days.
Jesus can do the same today.
He gives life to all.
All you have to do is ask.
Jesus, give me this new life.
I am dead in my sins.
Forgive my sins.
I feel so hopeless.
Refresh my soul.
Bring me joy and peace.
I need help.
I need healing.
Give me new life.
Amen.

(September 9, 2000 8:06 AM CDT)

Please, pray for two people in the hospital.
God bless them.
Thanks.

"His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
and his kingdom endures through all generations."
Daniel 4:31

Our God is great.
He is wonderful.
He is all powerful.
He is ruler of all the universe.
We praise him.
We bless his holy name.
All generations will bow down before him.
He is awesome.
He is joy.
We praise you, Lord.
We thank you.
You are holy.
Praise the Lord.

(September 8, 2000 6:03 AM CDT)

"Say to those whose hearts are frightened:
Be strong, fear not!
Here is your God,
he comes with vindication;
With divine recompense
he comes to save you.
Then will the eyes of the blind be opened,
the ears of the deaf be cleared."
Isaiah 35:4-5

Be strong.
Fear not.
They are words from God to you today.
He is there.
He saves you.
He gives you sight.
He speaks to you.
Know that the Lord is good.
He comes to save you.
Receive this blessing today.

(September 7, 2000 6:04 AM CDT)

"There is one Lord,
one faith,
one baptism;
one God and Father of all,
who is over all,
and works through all,
and is in all."
Ephesians 4:5-6

God is one.
There are 3 persons in one God.
It is a mystery how such a thing is possible.
We can only wonder and be in awe.
In him we are one.
Work together.
Forgive each other.
Love one another.
Be one.
Be one in Christ.

(September 6, 2000 6:06 AM CDT)

"Through the gift of God in his goodness,
bestowed on me by the exercise of his power,
I became a minister of the gospel."
Ephesians 3:7

God called Paul to preach the gospel.
He gave him power to speak the truth.
He was a minister.
He cared for the lost.
He tried to reach them.
Christ calls you.
He gives you power.
He gives you the truth.
He tells you to minister to others.
The gift has been given to you.
Share the gift with others.

(September 5, 2000 5:59 AM CDT)

"I am filled with consolation,
and despite my many afflictions
my joy knows no bounds."
2 Corinthians 7:4

I pray that you have joy in your heart today.
It is joy from God that loves you very much.
It is consolation from above.
The afflictions are there.
The difficulties are there.
God will see you through.
He brings you to the other side.
Know that he loves you.
He cares about you.
Receive joy without bounds.
God loves you.

(September 4, 2000 6:00 AM CDT)

It's been raining overnight,
so we thank the Lord for his goodness.
The rain cleans the pollen out of the air,
so people with allergies can breath easier.
20 percent of the population have allergies.

"If we have died with Christ,
we believe that we are also to live with him."
Romans 6:8

I believe it.
Do you believe it?
Christ died for us.
He suffered for us.
In him we have life.
It is new life.
Our old life is meaningless.
We move on to better things.
We find new hope.
We have a smile on our face.
We have found true happiness.
Knowing Christ is new life.
He is new rain.

Jesus said,
"Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled,
but whoever humbles himself shall be exalted."
Matthew 23:12

Are you humble?
Are you exalted?
Check yourself out.
Do you say ---
I don't commit sin.
I am perfect.
If so, it is by the grace of God.
Give God all the credit.
He is saving you every moment.
He is perfecting you.
He is changing you.
Thank the Lord for his abundant grace.
He made you what you are.
Give the praise to God and not yourself.

(September 2, 2000 8:06 AM CDT)

"In everything you do, act without grumbling or arguing;
prove yourselves innocent and straightforward,
children of God beyond reproach
in the midst of a twisted and depraved generation ---
among whom you shine like the stars in the sky
while holding fast to the word of life."
Philippians 2:14-16

There you go...
Can you live up to that?
Can you drop the grumbling or the arguing?
Can you prove yourself?
Are you innocent and beyond reproach?
Well, give it a try.
Call on the grace of God.
There is no other way to do it.
You will not pull it off without God.
Be a bright star in this twisted world of ours.
You can do it.
I'm praying for you to be bright.

(September 1, 2000 6:00 AM CDT)

"Jesus summoned them (James and John) on the spot.
They abandoned their father Zebedee,
who was in the boat with the hired men,
and went off in his company."
Mark 1:20

Jesus summons you.
He calls you to come away.
He wants to get your full attention.
He wants you to follow him.
It seems impossible to drop everything.
It is a question of priorities.
What is important to you?
Is prayer a priority?
Is Sunday a day of worship for you?
Do you ever read the Bible?
You give yourself away by how you live.
Put Jesus first.
The unimportant things will fall to the side.
Abandon watching TV for example.
