"When Jesus took the wine, he said,
'Now it is finished.'
Then he bowed his head,
and delivered over his spirit."
John 19:30

Jesus died on the cross for you.
He gave everything for you.
He paid the price.
You are worth a lot to him.
He loves you very much.
Come learn about him in the new year.
He makes all things new.
He is happiness beyond belief.
Ask him to forgive your sins today.
Start the new year fresh.
Pray every day.
Jesus, you gave everything for me.
Help me to act on this great love you have for me.
Change me.
Make me into something new.
Thank you, Jesus.

(December 29, 2001 8:06 AM CST)

"They were overjoyed at seeing the star,
and on entering the house,
found the child with Mary his mother.
They prostrated themselves and did him homage.
Then the opened their coffers and
presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh."
Matthew 2:10-11

You keep searching.
Years and years go by.
Then you see the star.
You follow the star.
This is it.
This is what you have been waiting for.
You are very excited.
You are filled with wonder.
It is baby Jesus with his mother Mary.
You rejoice with great joy.
He is the promised one.
He will one day save his people.
You have found him.
Rejoice and be glad.

(December 28, 2001 6:11 AM CST)

"The promises of the Lord are sure..."
Psalms 12:7

You can trust the Lord.
You can trust his promises.
Put your faith in him.
Your future is in his hands.
It is a wonderful thought.
It is a consoling idea.
He will take care of you all the days of your life.

(December 27, 2001 6:10 AM CST)

We have come to the end of the books of the New Testament,
so I'm returning to picking out selected verses
from anywhere in the Bible.

"Suddenly, there was with the angel
a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,
'Glory to God in high heaven,
peace on earth to those on whom his favor rests.'"
Luke 2:13-14

Christmas has come and gone.
Did we learn anything this year?
Did we see any new insights?
Have we been changed in any way?
Give praise to God today.
Give glory to God on high.
He is changing us day by day.
He is making us into his children.
He brings peace into our lives.
Praise the Lord.

(December 26, 2001 6:07 AM CST)

Read Revelation 22 .

"The angel then showed me the river of life-giving water,
clear as crystal, which issued
from the throne of God and of the Lamb
and flowed down the middle of the streets." (verse 1)
God pours out his life.
It is pure. It is clear.
Receive this abundant grace from God to you.
It is a gift for you this Christmas.
"The night shall be no more.
They will need no light from lamps or the sun,
for the Lord God shall give them light,
and they shall reign forever." (verse 5)
Christ is the light of the world.
See how bright he is.
The darkness is driven away.
He is pure light.
"I am coming soon!" (verse 7,12,20)
Prepare yourself.
The Lord is coming.
Be ready to receive his blessings.
"Come, Lord Jesus!" (verse 20)

(December 25, 2001 7:20 AM CST)

Merry Christmas to you and your family!
God bless you today!

Read Revelation 21 .

"Then I saw a new heavens and a new earth." (verse 1)
You wonder what is under the wrapping paper.
God makes all things new.
He is excitement.
He is joy to the world.
"He shall wipe every tear from their eyes..." (verse 4)
You think of the families of September 11th today.
It must be very hard for them.
May Jesus comfort them and give them peace.
"See, I make all things new!" (verse 5)
God opens new doors to you.
He has much to teach you.
Be open to the ways of God.

(December 24, 2001 6:10 AM CST)

Read Revelation 20 .

"I saw a large white throne
and the One who sat on it." (verse 11)
Christ is the King.
He sits on the throne.
He is Lord of all creation.
Bow down and worship him this Christmas.
He is the one.

(December 23, 2001 7:16 AM CST)

Yesterday KGBI 100.7 FM played the song
Silent Night with words as if God was talking.
It is a poem named "Meet Me In The Stairwell"
that has been around since October.
The author is unknown.

Read Revelation 19 .

"Happy are they who have been invited
to the wedding feast of the Lamb." (verse 9)
God gives you an invitation.
Come and see the child that has been born.
Come and see the one that will save us.
He is Jesus --- the Lamb of God.
He will rescue us.
Come praise him.

(December 22, 2001 7:35 AM CST)

We are getting freezing rain this morning.
I can hear it banging against the house.
Here is the weather report for Omaha .
The Weather Channel just said
Omaha is getting freezing rain and snow.
The snow is starting to accumulate on the ground now.
This is our first snow of the season.
(Update at 8:51 AM
You can't see the ground anymore.
Someone sent me the story
The Christmas Geese .
Have you ever read it?)

Read Revelation 18 .

"Alas, alas, the great city dressed
in fine linen and purple and scarlet,
Adorned all in gold and jewels and pearls!
In a single hour
this great wealth has been destroyed!" (verse 16,17)
Here today --- gone tomorrow.
The world is passing away.
Don't hold on to the world.
Hold on to something permanent --- Jesus.
He is here to stay.

(December 21, 2001 6:06 AM CST)

Read Revelation 17 .

"They will fight against the Lamb
but the Lamb will conquer them,
for he is the Lord of lords and the King of kings;
victorious, too, will be his followers ---
the ones who were called:
the chosen and the faithful." (verse 14)
The Lamb of God (Jesus) will win.
Many will fight against him and his followers.
There is victory in the Lamb.
You have been chosen.
Be faithful this Christmas.

(December 20, 2001 6:07 AM CST)

Read Revelation 16 .

"Yes, Lord God Almighty,
your judgments are true and just!" (verse 7)
The Lord is just.
He sees all things.
He sees our hearts.
Set your heart on things of God.
Give your heart to Jesus this Christmas.

(December 19, 2001 6:05 AM CST)

Read Revelation 15 .

"Mighty and wonderful are your works, Lord God Almighty!
Righteous and true are your ways,
O King of the nations!" (verse 3)
Our God is a mighty God.
He is all-powerful.
Go to him with all your needs.
Follow him and his ways.

(December 18, 2001 6:08 AM CST)

Read Revelation 14 .

"Then I saw another angel flying in midheaven,
the herald of everlasting good news to the whole world,
to every nation and race, language and people." (verse 6)
We need some good news in our troubled world.
The child Jesus comes to us.
He comes to save us and rescue us.
Welcome him.
Christmas is upon us.

(December 17, 2001 6:05 AM CST)

Read Revelation 13 .

"It forced all men, small and great, rich and poor,
slave and free, to accept a stamped image
on their right hand or their forehead." (verse 16)
Let us be stamped by the Holy Spirit.
Let us trace the sign of the cross on our foreheads.
Let our souls be marked by God.
May we be sealed by the Holy Spirit.

(December 16, 2001 7:32 AM CST)

Read Revelation 12 .

"War broke out in heaven;
Michael and his angels battled against the dragon." (verse 7)
It is war.
Good battles against evil.
Archangel Michael will win.
God will win.
"The accuser of our brothers is cast out..." (verse 10)
Satan will be driven out.
Good will triumph.
Evil will be put out.
"So rejoice, you heavens,
and you that dwell therein!" (verse 12)
Rejoice that the Lord has won.
Our prayers have been answered.
Heaven and earth rejoices at the good news.

(December 15, 2001 8:24 AM CST)

Read Revelation 11 .

"I will commission my two witnesses
to prophesy for those 1260 days,
dressed in sackcloth." (verse 3)
Will you be a witness?
Will you stand up for the truth of Jesus?
Now is the time.
"After three and a half days,
the breath of life which comes from God
returned to them." (verse 11)
They were dead and God brought them back to life.
We too need the breath of life.
Lord Jesus, breathe new life into us today.
Bring us back to life.
Forgive our sins.
"The seventh angel blew his trumpet.
Loud voices in heaven cried out,
'The kingdom of the world now belongs to our Lord
and to his Anointed One,
and he shall reign forever and ever.'" (verse 15)
Christ is king forever.
He reigns for all eternity.
He is the Anointed One.
His kingdom is without end.
It reminds you of Handel's Messiah Hallelujah Chorus .

(December 14, 2001 6:07 AM CST)

Read Revelation 10 .

"When the time comes for the seventh angel to blow his trumpet,
the mysterious plan of God,
which he announced to his servants the prophets,
shall be accomplished in full." (verse 7)
In the end God wins.
He will triumph over evil.
He will reign in glory.
Come to him while there is still time.
"You must prophesy again for many peoples and nations,
languages and kings." (verse 11)
Let the gospel be proclaimed in all the earth.
It is for all people to hear.
It is a message for you.
Let it change you.

(December 13, 2001 6:11 AM CST)

Read Revelation 9 .

"Then the fifth angel blew his trumpet,
and I saw a star fall from the sky to the earth." (verse 1)
We will have trials and disappointments.
Who do you turn to?
There will be disasters.
Is Jesus the one you call out to?
"The part of mankind which escaped the plagues
did not repent of the idols they had made." (verse 20)
Worship God alone.
He is deserving of all our praise.
Push aside the idols.
Turn your life around.

(December 12, 2001 6:11 AM CST)

Read Revelation 8 .

"From the angel's hand the smoke of the incense
went up before God,
and with it the prayers of God's people." (verse 4)
Offer your prayers to God.
May they rise to the throne of God.
God will hear and respond.
"When the third angel blew his trumpet,
a huge star burning like a torch
crashed down from the sky." (verse 10)
One day the earth will be no more.
Be prepared.
We are only here for a short time.
Be ready to meet Jesus.

(December 11, 2001 6:08 AM CST)

It seems like half the articles in the newspaper last night
referred to September 11th.
It was 3 months ago today.

Read Revelation 7 .

"After this I saw before me a huge crowd
which no one could count
from every nation and race, people and tongue." (verse 9)
All are invited to the table.
Come and see what the Lord has prepared for you.
Learn about Christ.
Believe in him.
"Amen!
Praise and glory, wisdom and thanksgiving and honor,
power and might, to our God forever and ever.
Amen!" (verse 12)
Let us give glory to the Lord.
He is all wisdom.
We honor him alone.
All power is his forever.
"These are the ones who have survived
the great period of trial..." (verse 14)
You will be persecuted for your faith.
You will be laughed at.
Forgive your enemies.
Pray for them.
"God will wipe every tear from their eyes." (verse 17)
We ask the Lord to comfort those in sorrow this year.
We pray for the Lord to give them strength to continue.
God be with them.

(December 10, 2001 6:11 AM CST)

Read Revelation 6 .

"To my surprise I saw a white horse;
its rider had a bow, and he was given a crown." (verse 2)
It is the four horsemen.
It reminds us of the suffering that can come our way.
We need to call on the Lord for strength.
"When the Lamb broke open the fifth seal,
I saw under the altar the spirits of those
who had been martyred because of the witness
they bore to the word of God." (verse 9)
Many have died for the faith.
They shine brightly in heaven.
They gave all they had for the Lord Jesus.
"The stars in the sky fell crashing to the earth..." (verse 13)
Where can you hide?
Where can you run?
Call on the name of Jesus.
He is your only protection.

(December 9, 2001 8:30 AM CST)

Please, pray for my friend Barb.
She is having surgery on her foot tomorrow.
Thanks.

Read Revelation 5 .

"Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?" (verse 2)
Look around.
Who is worthy?
Who is the great one?
Who is the mighty one?
It is only Jesus Christ.
He is the only one worthy that has the power to do this.
"The Lamb came and received the scroll..." (verse 7)
The Lamb was slain for us.
Jesus died for our sins.
He offered up his life for our lives.
All the punishment was placed on him.
"I heard the voices of many angels who surrounded the throne
and the living creatures and the elders." (verse 11)
Let the praises be heard.
Let the songs be sung.
Let us all praise the Lord.

(December 8, 2001 8:25 AM CST)

Last night I went to see the Christmas play at
CCC south of 108th and Dodge in Omaha.
They do a fantastic job.
You can see it today and tomorrow at 3 and 7 PM.
There was a mistake in the program.
It said December 6th, 1905 was a Thursday,
but it was a Wednesday.

Read Revelation 4 .

"At once I was caught up in ecstasy." (verse 2)
John saw what we all dream about.
He saw heaven.
It is there.
It does exist.
"The floor around the throne was like
a sea of glass that was crystal-clear." (verse 6)
It is a beautiful place.
It is like nothing we have seen before.
It is a fantastic place.
"Day and night, without pause, they sing:
'Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,
He who was, and who is, and who is to come!'" (verse 8)
Get ready to praise the Lord 24 by 7.
He is deserving of all our praise.
Let all the earth praise the Lord.
"O Lord our God, you are worthy
to receive glory and honor and power!" (verse 11)
He suffered and died for us.
Let us be eternally thankful.
We honor the Lord of all time.

(December 7, 2001 6:10 AM CST)

Read Revelation 3 .

"Wake up, and strengthen what remains before it dies." (verse 2)
Be alert.
The Lord is your strength.
Renew our spirit, Lord Jesus.
"I am coming soon.
Hold fast to what you have
lest someone rob you of your crown." (verse 11)
The Lord is coming soon.
Be ready to greet him.
Welcome him to your life.
Keep on the narrow road that leads to life.
"I am so rich and secure that I want for nothing." (verse 17)
Are you comfortable?
Are you secure with the things of the world?
You need the Lord.
All the other things have no meaning.
"Here I stand, knocking at the door.
If anyone hears me calling and opens the door,
I will enter their house and have supper with them,
and them with me." (verse 20)
Open the door to the Lord Jesus.
Open your heart.
Let the Lord be a part of your life.
Invite him in.

(December 6, 2001 6:02 AM CST)

Read Revelation 2 .

"I know your deeds, your labors,
and your patient endurance." (verse 2)
The Lord sees your efforts.
Strive to do good.
Be patient with yourself.
It takes time.
"I hold this against you though:
you have turned aside from your early love." (verse 4)
Take inventory.
Are you moving toward the Lord or away from him?
Ask the Lord to help correct your faults.
Ask for the grace to do good and avoid evil.
"Remain faithful until death
and I will give you the crown of life." (verse 10)
Stay with the Lord.
Don't give up.
Be a faithful follower of Jesus.
"Let him (or her) that has ears
heed the Spirit's word to the churches!" (verse 29)
Listen to the Lord.
Listen to the Holy Spirit.
Receive the word with joy.
Act on this word.

(December 5, 2001 6:05 AM CST)

Read Revelation 1 .

"Happy is the person who reads this prophetic message,
and happy are those who hear it and heed what is written in it,
for the appointed time is near!" (verse 3)
Christ is coming soon.
Are you prepared to meet him this Christmas?
Your time is near.
"I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the One who is and who was and who is to come,
the Almighty!" (verse 8)
He is the beginning and the end.
He is Almighty God.
Bow down and worship him.
Praise his name.
"When I caught sight of him
I fell down at his feet as though dead." (verse 17)
What can you say when you meet the living God?
Will you fall down in fear?
What will you do?
"There is nothing to fear." (verse 17)
The Lord is with you.
Get up and greet him.
He is in your presence.
Listen to his every word.

(December 4, 2001 6:05 AM CST)

Read Jude 1 .

"I wish to remind you of certain things,
even though you may already be very well aware of them." (verse 5)
We need reminders.
God loves us.
We celebrate Christmas every year.
He came to save us.
We should be thankful.
"Even the archangel Michael..." (verse 9)
Michael is mentioned here.
Let us call on God's angels for protection.
Lord, send your angels to protect us from harm.
"They have taken the road Cain took." (verse 11)
Cain was wrong.
He took the road to destruction.
Don't do that.
Keep on the road to heaven.
"Beloved, grow strong in your holy faith
through prayer in the Holy Spirit." (verse 20)
Call on the Holy Spirit.
Pray to the Spirit of life.
Be strong in your faith.
Come, Holy Spirit.

(December 3, 2001 6:11 AM CST)

Billy Graham is on TV this week.
Check this link for the times
or you can watch it online.

Read 3 John 1 .

"Nothing delights me more than to hear
that my children are walking in this path." (verse 4)
Walk in the ways of the Lord.
It will bring you great joy.
God will bless you and your family.
"Beloved, do not imitate what is evil
but what is good." (verse 11)
It seems obvious, but do we do this?
Do we let the evil of this world influence us?
That is why we need to stay close to the Lord.
We need prayer every day to be strong
and do what is right.
"Peace be with you." (verse 15)
Peace only comes from knowing Jesus.
Welcome him into your life.
Your life will never be the same.

(December 2, 2001 7:59 AM CST)

I woke up this morning with a question on my mind:
What is my task?

Read 2 John 1 .

"This love is based on the truth that abides in us
and will be with us forever." (verse 2)
It starts today.
It lasts for all time.
God's love is new every single day.
"It has given me great joy to find some of your children
walking in the path of truth..." (verse 4)
Walk in the ways of the Lord.
Follow him in the garden.
Pray to know the way.
"Look out that you yourselves
do not lose what you have worked for;
you must receive your reward in full." (verse 8)
Do not lose it all.
You have come this far --- don't give up now.
Keep Jesus close to you.
Seek eternal life.
"I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face,
so that our joy may be full." (verse 12)
Talk to others in person.
Share your faith with them.
Share the joy of the Lord with them.

(December 1, 2001 7:26 AM CST)

Read 1 John 5 .

"The love of God consists in this:
that we keep his commandments ---
and his commandments are not burdensome." (verse 3)
God knows what is best.
He gives us guidelines.
Stay inside the lines.
They are not a burden.
"Everyone begotten of God conquers the world,
and the power that has conquered the world
is this faith of ours." (verse 4)
Jesus has overcome the world.
You have power in Jesus.
May your faith increase.
Conquer the evil in this world.
"Whoever possesses the Son possesses life;
whoever does not possess the Son of God
does not possess life." (verse 12)
Do you possess Jesus in your heart?
If not, you need him.
You need him now.
Jesus, come into my heart.
Takeover my life.
I give everything to you.
"We have this confidence in God:
that he hears us whenever we ask for anything
according to his will." (verse 14)
Be confident.
Ask the Lord for what you need.
He hears your prayers.
"He is the true God and eternal life." (verse 20)
Jesus is life.
