We received 3 inches of snow in Omaha
"Help us, O God our savior,
Lord, help us.
and more is on the way today.
The schools are all cancelled.
because of the glory of your name;
Deliver us and pardon our sins
for your name's sake."
Psalms 79:9
We need your grace.
We need your love.
Pardon our sins.
Forgive us, Lord.
Give us a new start this year.
May our lives never be the same again.
Save us from evil.
Protect us from harm.
We ask this all in the name of Jesus.
(January 30, 2002 6:10 AM CST)
The snow is coming tonight they say
"Finally, draw your strength from the Lord and his mighty power.
Your strength comes from the Lord Jesus.
and people are "glad" that it is on the way.
We have had a very dry winter up to this point
and need the moisture.
Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm
against the tactics of the devil.
Our battle is not against human forces
but against the principalities and powers,
the rulers of this world of darkness,
the evil spirits in regions above.
You must put on the armor of God
if you are to resist on the evil day;
do all that your duty requires, and hold your ground."
Ephesians 6:10-13
Call on him to resist evil and do what is right.
Stand firm against the darkness.
With God by your side you are more powerful.
Good will triumph over evil.
Love is stronger than hate.
Call on the name of Jesus.
Jesus, come and save us.
Give us strength to fight evil.
You are our armor.
Help us to stand our ground.

"...we were eyewitnesses of his sovereign majesty.
They were ear-witnesses.
He received glory and praise from God the Father
when that unique declaration came to him
out of the majestic splendor:
'This is my beloved Son,
on whom my favor rests.'
We ourselves heard this said from heaven
while we were in his company on the holy mountain."
2 Peter 1:17-18
They heard the voice of God.
He spoke to them.
Our faith is based on their witness.
We believe because they shared their faith.
They spoke out the truth.
God is a majestic wonder.
He is unique splendor.
His voice echoes through the ages.
Listen and believe.
(January 28, 2002 6:09 AM CST)
"It is in Christ and through his blood
It is an amazing thing.
that we have been redeemed and our sins forgiven,
so immeasurably generous is God's favor to us.
God has given us the wisdom
to understand fully the mystery,
the plan he was pleased to decree in Christ,
to be carried out in the fullness of time:
namely, to bring all things in the heavens and on earth
into one under Christ's headship."
Ephesians 1:7-10
Jesus came to earth.
He died for our sins.
We have life because of him.
Why did he do it?
Why would he go through all this suffering?
It is part of the mystery.
He loves us immensely.
He cares for us overwhelmingly.
He wants us to love him in return.
He calls us to be one under his leadership.
He sees order in the chaos.
It is a mystery.
(January 27, 2002 10:03 AM CST)
"For you have rescued me from death,
Guide us, Lord.
my feet, too, from stumbling;
that I may walk before God
in the light of the living."
Psalms 56:14
Help us to walk and not fall.
Shine the light on our path.
Show us how to live.
Bless us, Lord.
Bless our families.
Rescue us from death.
You are our life.
(January 26, 2002 8:13 AM CST)
Jesus said,
Do you have an easy life or hard life?
"Enter through the narrow gate.
The gate that leads to damnation is wide,
the road is clear, and many choose to travel it.
But how narrow is the gate that leads to life,
how rough the road, and how few there are who find it!"
Matthew 7:13-14
Is it a smooth road or rough road?
Jesus is warning us about damnation.
It could happen to us.
Don't follow the crowd.
Search for the true road that leads to life.
If you just wander through life, you will not find it.
Call on the Holy Spirit to guide you.
You need help.
Find a life of service.
Jesus asks you to follow him.
He knows the way.
You can trust in him.
Find the narrow road to life.
(January 25, 2002 6:10 AM CST)
"The man who claims to be in light,
Forgive.
hating his brother all the while,
is in darkness even now.
The man who continues in the light
is the one who loves his brother;
there is nothing in him to cause a fall."
1 John 2:9-10
Forgive your brother and sister.
Whatever they have done to you --- forgive them.
Forgiveness is light.
It is love from God to your brother or sister.
Work for peace with all people.
Try your best to get along.
Do something nice for someone today.
Let the light of God shine in our dark world.
(January 24, 2002 6:06 AM CST)
We set a record high on January 22 of 58 F degrees in Omaha.
"The grace of God has appeared,
Grace is here.
We have had a very mild winter so far.
Thank the Lord.
offering salvation to all men (and women).
It trains us to reject godless ways and worldly desires,
and live temperately, justly and devoutly in this age
as we await our blessed hope,
the appearing of the glory of the great God and
of our Savior Christ Jesus."
Titus 2:11-13
It is yours.
Act on this grace.
Live a devout life.
Have hope in Jesus.
He will come again.
He will come in glory.
Look forward to this great day.
Come, Lord Jesus.
(January 23, 2002 6:09 AM CST)
Pray for a friend of mine and her family.
"We exhort you to admonish the unruly;
Let there be order.
Her mother died a few days ago.
The funeral is today.
cheer the fainthearted;
support the weak;
be patient toward all.
See that no one returns evil to any other;
always seek one another's good and,
for that matter, the good of all."
1 Thessalonians 5:14-15
God wants us to work together.
Seek each other's good.
Be kind.
Help those who have fallen.
Encourage the lost to come back home.
Resolve to be patient today.
Show courtesy when driving.
Pray to the Lord to show you these things.
He is the great teacher.
(January 22, 2002 6:13 AM CST)
"The Spirit said to Philip,
Help others as they read the Bible.
'Go and catch up with that carriage.'
Philip ran ahead and heard the man reading the prophet Isaiah.
He said to him,
'Do you really grasp what you are reading?'
'How can I,' the man replied,
'unless someone explains it to me?'"
Acts 8:29-31
You have been there.
You know all about Jesus.
Share what you know.
Tell them about what Jesus has done for us.
Explain the reason why he died.
Pray with them to receive the Holy Spirit.
Tell them about God's mercy and love.
You can really help them.
(January 21, 2002 6:11 AM CST)
Would you pray for my brother who is sick?
"Jesus asked Bartimaeus,
Excellent!
Thanks.
'What do you want me to do for you?'
'Rabboni,' the blind man said, 'want to see.'
Jesus said in reply,
'Be on your way!
Your faith has healed you.'
Immediately he received his sight
and started to follow him up the road."
Mark 10:51-52
God is great!
Ask Jesus to see.
Ask him to show you the way.
Open our eyes, Lord.
We want to see you.
We will follow you up the road to heaven.
Heal our blindness.
Mend our souls.
Strengthen our faith.
You are great!
We are on our way.
(January 20, 2002 7:12 AM CST)
"You set the mountains in place by your power,
God is all-powerful.
you who are girt with might;
You still the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves and the tumult of the peoples."
Psalms 65:7-8
He is all mighty.
He has built the mountains and the oceans.
He made
Olympus Mons on Mars
.
He made the stars and galaxies.
Go to him for help.
He has the power.
(January 19, 2002 8:12 AM CST)
"For I am certain that neither death nor life,
What can keep you away from God?
neither angels nor principalities,
neither the present nor the future, nor powers,
neither height nor depth nor any other creature,
will be able to separate us from the love of God
that comes to us in Christ Jesus, our Lord."
Romans 8:38-39
You.
You can push God away.
You can ignore him and he made you.
He is your Father and you don't listen to him.
God opens the door and you close it.
He wants to reach you.
He wants to be part of your life.
(January 18, 2002 6:09 AM CST)
"Since you have been raised up in company with Christ,
Do you think of God?
set your heart on what pertains to higher realms
where Christ is seated at God's right hand.
Be intent on things above rather than on things of earth."
Colossians 3:1-2
Do you pray to Christ?
Are you interested in learning about the Holy Spirit?
There is so much to learn.
Read the Bible.
Dwell on those things that are out of this world.
Dream of heaven.
What will it be like?
See the love of the Father for us in sending Christ to earth.
There is much to think about.
Take time to do this.
(January 17, 2002 6:08 AM CST)
"Beloved, do not imitate what is evil,
Who do you follow?
but what is good.
Whoever does what is good belongs to God;
whoever does what is evil has never seen God."
3 John 1:11
Do you imitate a popular singer?
Do you follow the world and its ways?
Do you follow Jesus?
Imitate Jesus and his holy life.
Learn of him.
Know who he is.
See the face of God.
Pray to him.
Ask him for wisdom to know the truth.
Praise him.
Imitate him.
(January 16, 2002 6:11 AM CST)
"In times past,
Christ came to earth.
God spoke in fragmentary and varied ways
to our fathers through the prophets;
in this, the final age,
he has spoken to us through his Son,
whom he has made heir of all things and
through whom he first created the universe."
Hebrews 1:1-2
He was sent by the Father.
He spoke plainly.
He said to love one another.
He said to forgive.
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one.
He told us to pray and ask for what we need.
Read the words of Christ in the Gospels.
It is God revealing himself to us.
Marvel at these revelations.
Share in his inheritance.
He owns the universe.
He made it.
It is his.
(January 15, 2002 6:12 AM CST)
"In him who is the source of my strength
How can you make it through the day?
I have strength for everything."
Philippians 4:13
Where does your energy come from?
Who gives you the drive to continue day after day?
Call on Jesus.
He is the source of all energy.
He is your strength.
He gives abundant grace just for the asking.
Jesus, come this day.
Give me the grace to continue.
Bless me with your strength.
I need your help.
I praise you, Lord.
Thank you for hearing my prayer.
(January 14, 2002 6:06 AM CST)
"He comforts us in all our afflictions
Go to the nursing homes and hospitals.
and thus enables us to comfort those who are in trouble,
with the same consolation we have received from him."
2 Corinthians 1:4
Comfort those who are sick.
Pray with them.
Spend time with them.
Laugh with them.
The Lord Jesus has comforted you.
Pass on this consolation from above.
Open your heart this year.
Share your blessings.
(January 13, 2002 7:29 AM CST)
Jesus said,
Sounds simple, doesn't it?
"Blest are they who hear the word of God and keep it."
Luke 11:28
Well, it is not.
There are many distractions.
It is hard to hear the Lord.
He is a soft voice in our heart.
You have to be very still.
Calm yourself.
Stop rushing here and there.
Sit down and listen to him.
When you hear him respond.
Take action.
Do the right thing.
Be blest.
(January 12, 2002 8:31 AM CST)
"The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Don't be afraid.
whom should I fear?
The Lord is my life's refuge;
of whom should I be afraid?"
Psalms 27:1-2
You have nothing to fear.
The Lord is on your side.
The Lord will save you.
Jesus Christ is your hope.
Take refuge in him.
Your security is with him.
You may lose your job, but the Lord will provide.
Your health may fail, but he is there.
Be confident.
Be strong.
(January 11, 2002 6:07 AM CST)
I saw the
Olympic torch
at 68th and Dodge Streets yesterday
"The light shines on in darkness,
Yes, the light shines on.
just after 5 PM.
One girl was running along with the torch and
stopped to light the torch of the next girl
in the torch relay through Omaha.
It was an exciting moment to watch.
a darkness that did not overcome it."
John 1:5
The torch is passed.
Carry this light to all the world.
There is so much darkness.
We need the light of Christ.
Share his brightness.
And a baby girl has been born to
Lisa Beamer
.
Life goes on.
Share the joy.
(January 10, 2002 6:10 AM CST)
"There lived in Jerusalem at the time
I pray today that you will see the Anointed of the Lord (Jesus).
a certain man named Simeon.
He was just and pious,
and awaited the consolation of Israel,
and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
It was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit
that he would not experience death
until he had seen the Anointed of the Lord."
Luke 2:25-26
I pray that you will be led by the Holy Spirit.
Open your mind.
Open your heart to something new.
The Lord wants to console you.
All this must happen before you die.
Come and see while there is time.
Read the Bible daily.
Pray to the Lord.
Ask and you shall receive.
(January 9, 2002 6:10 AM CST)
"The fruit of the spirit is
When the Holy Spirit is in your life
love, joy, peace,
patient endurance, kindness, generosity,
faith, mildness and chastity."
Galatians 5:22
you are a changed person.
You are not the same.
You think of others and not yourself.
You are concerned with the things of God.
You are thoughtful.
You are faithful to God.
God blesses you with wonderful gifts.
He rains down blessings on you.
This is the way it should be.
This is what God wants for you.
Live a life in the Spirit.
(January 8, 2002 6:08 AM CST)
Yesterday I had my windshield replaced in my car
John said,
Go to the one who is mighty.
at a window repair shop downtown.
There was a foot long crack across the bottom from a little rock
that had struck the windshield some time ago.
I watched on New Year's Day as the crack
was created as I drove along Dodge Street near 33rd Street.
It was 16 F degrees outside and lightly snowing.
God bless the person that fixed my car (John).
"I am baptizing you in water,
but there is one to come who is mightier than I.
I am not fit to loosen his sandal strap.
He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire."
Luke 3:16
He is the one to seek.
He is Almighty God.
He will baptize you.
Your life will never be the same.
The Holy Spirit will come into your life.
The fire will burn away the trash.
He will clean house.
He will warm you with his love.
He is the mighty one.
He is your shield.
Seek him.
He makes all things new.
(January 7, 2002 6:17 AM CST)
"Jesus took Peter, James and John off by themselves with him
Jesus says to come away with him.
and led them up a high mountain.
He was transfigured before their eyes
and his clothes become dazzlingly white ---
whiter than the work of any bleacher could make them."
Mark 9:2-3
He has much to show you.
He has much to teach you.
He wants to lead you higher.
He wants you to be close to him.
Jesus is pure.
He is very bright.
He is Almighty God.
Fall down and worship him.
He is the Lord of all creation.
He is your best friend.
Get to know him better.
(January 6, 2002 8:11 AM CST)
Sometimes I take a look at the Pacific Ocean from
Jesus said,
Don't be too harsh on others.
Newport Beach, California
.
Every morning I take a look at
Zermatt, Switzerland
.
It's the next best thing to being there.
"If you want to avoid judgment, stop passing judgment.
Your verdict on others will be the verdict passed on you.
The measure with which you measure
will be used to measure you."
Matthew 7:1-2
You have never walked in their shoes.
You don't see everything going on.
Let God do the judging.
Pray for them to know God and his will.
Be busy doing things for God,
then you don't have time to look at others.
Keep looking at Jesus.
He will keep you on the road to heaven.
(January 5, 2002 8:31 AM CST)
"Keep me as the apple of your eye;
You are unique.
hide me in the shadow of your wings..."
Psalms 17:8
You are special.
The Lord watches over you.
He cares about you.
Go to him for protection.
Call on the name of Jesus.
You have nothing to fear.
He is your protector.
He is more than you need.
(January 4, 2002 6:08 AM CST)
"It is in Christ and through his blood
He is generous.
that we have been redeemed and our sins forgiven,
so immeasurably generous is God's favor to us."
Ephesians 1:7-8
Christ is very generous.
His blood was shed for us.
That is really something.
He gave up his life for us.
He suffered for us.
Our sins can be forgiven, if we ask him.
He wants to forgive us.
He wants what is best for us.
Jesus, forgive my sins today.
I am sorry for what I have done.
I want to change.
Help me to live a holy life.
I want to thank you for all you have done for me.
That is wonderful.
Thank you very much.
You are most kind.
(January 3, 2002 6:08 AM CST)
"We always give thanks to God,
Thank the Lord today.
the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
in our prayers for you
because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus
and the love your bear toward all the saints ---
moved as you are by the hope
held in store for you in heaven."
Colossians 1:3-4
Give praise to God the Father.
Pray to Jesus.
Love your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Hope in the Lord.
Look forward to heaven.
Jesus, as we begin this new year
be with us and guide us.
Keep us safe from harm.
Show us the truth.
Increase our faith in you.
You are our only hope.
We thank you.
(January 2, 2002 6:05 AM CST)
Jesus told Martha,
Jesus tells us who he is.
"I am the resurrection and the life:
whoever believes in me, though he (or she) should die,
will come to life;
and whoever is alive and believes in me
will never die.
Do you believe this?"
John 11:25-26
He is never-ending life.
He is hope in spite of death.
He tells us to believe in him.
He promises eternal life to us.
Trust in him.
Trust in the words he has said.
He is hope in this new year.
He is joy every morning.
Do you believe this?
(January 1, 2002 7:29 AM CST)
Happy New Year!
Jesus said,
Start the new year right.
May this be a year of many blessings
for you and your family.
"Whoever welcomes this little child on my account welcomes me,
and whoever welcomes me welcomes him who sent me;
for the least one among you is the greatest."
Luke 9:48
Help the little ones.
Care about children.
Treat them with great respect.
Be involved in their lives.
Play with them.
Teach them.
Tell them about Jesus.
Share your faith with them.
