February, 2002

God is love
Trust in Jesus

All is possible if you believe

God sends his blessings each day

Open your eyes

See the truth

(February 28, 2002 6:17 AM CST)

"First of all, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions,
and thanksgiving be offered for all men,
especially for kings and those in authority,
that we may be able to lead undisturbed and tranquil lives
in perfect piety and dignity."
1 Timothy 2:1-2

Pray for the leaders of countries.
May they be led by the Holy Spirit.
May they find peace for all their people.
May they inspire their people to greatness and goodness.
May they set a good example.
God bless them all today.

(February 27, 2002 6:08 AM CST)

The angel Gabriel said to him,
"Do not be frightened, Zechariah;
your prayer has been heard.
Your wife Elizabeth shall bear a son
whom you shall name John.
Joy and gladness will be yours,
and many will rejoice at his birth;
for he will be great in the eyes of the Lord."
Luke 1:13-15

May joy and gladness be yours today.
May you rejoice at the good news.
Your prayer has been heard.
The Lord will give you a new birth.
Do not be afraid.
Come near and hear the sound of angels.
The Lord calls you by name.
Draw near the Lord.

(February 26, 2002 6:05 AM CST)

"O Lord, you have been our refuge through all generations.
Before the mountains were begotten
and the earth and the world were brought forth,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God."
Psalms 90:1-2

Turn to God.
He is the one to seek.
He has been here for millions of years
and will be here for millions of years.
He is the awesome God.
He is all powerful.
Learn more about him.
Seek his protection.
Praise him in the heavens.
He always was and will always be.
He is everlasting.

(February 25, 2002 6:09 AM CST)

Lately on the radio they have been playing
a song by Avalon on the Oxygen CD .
It is track 5 "I Don't Wanna Go".
Take a listen.

"May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,
grant you a spirit of wisdom and insight to know him clearly.
May he enlighten your innermost vision
that you may know the great hope to which he has called you,
the wealth of his glorious heritage
to be distributed among the members of the church,
and the immeasurable scope of his power in us who believe."
Ephesians 1:17-19

Lord, we ask for wisdom today.
May we know you better each day.
May we learn of you and your vision for our lives.
Thank you for the hope you give us.
Thank you for power to continue the journey.
Enlighten us.
Change us.
We praise you, Lord.
How wonderful you are!

(February 23, 2002 7:58 AM CST)

"You are my letter, known and read by all men,
written on your hearts.
Clearly you are a letter of Christ which I have delivered,
a letter written not with ink
but by the Spirit of the living God,
not on tablets of stone
but on tablets of flesh in the heart."
2 Corinthians 3:2-3

What do others see in your life?
Do they see the love of Christ?
Do they see the Spirit of God?
Change your heart.
Let the Lord write a letter to you.
Open your heart.
Pass the letter on to others.

(February 22, 2002 6:12 AM CST)

"The Spirit himself gives witness with our spirit
that we are children of God.
But if we are children, we are heirs as well;
heirs of God, heirs with Christ,
if only we suffer with him
so as to be glorified with him."
Romans 8:16-17

You are a child of God.
You are a son or daughter.
You are heir to abundant blessings.
Eternal life is yours.
Endure your suffering.
Offer up your life to Christ.
Give your best to him.
You have nothing to worry about.
He will take care of his children.

(February 21, 2002 6:12 AM CST)

"Jesus picked up a towel and tied it around himself.
Then he poured water into a basin
and began to wash his disciples' feet
and dry them with the towel he had around him."
John 13:4-5

Jesus taught by example.
He lowered himself.
He became a servant.
He did things for others.
Let us follow his example.
Let us be of service to others.
Let us humble ourselves.

(February 20, 2002 6:40 AM CST)

"Praise be God, the Father of mercies,
and the God of all consolation!
He comforts us in all our afflictions
and thus enables us to comfort those who are in trouble,
with the same consolation we have received from him."
2 Corinthians 1:3-4

God has comforted us.
He has blessed us abundantly.
He gives us peace.
Let us reach out to others.
Let us care for them in their time of need.
Let us not forget the lonely and forgotten people.
God has enabled us.
He gives us the strength to continue.
God bless our efforts.

(February 19, 2002 6:10 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"You shall love the Lord your God
with your whole heart,
with your whole soul,
and with all your mind."
Matthew 22:37

Love God.
Serve God.
Love him with all that is you.
Think of him often.
Pray to him daily.
Be glad that you know him.
Welcome him into your heart.
He is your joy.
He is your hope.

(February 18, 2002 6:12 AM CST)

"We do indeed live in the body
but we do not wage war with human resources.
The weapons of our warfare are not merely human.
They possess God's power for the destruction of strongholds."
2 Corinthians 10:3-4

You need God's help.
The forces of evil are strong.
Call on Jesus to stand by you.
Do what is right.
Holiness comes from the Lord.
Ask him to mold you into his image.
He will change you.
Jesus, come into my life.
Make me to be like you.
I need your help.

(February 17, 2002 8:32 AM CST)

"Praise the Lord, O my soul;
I will praise the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God while I live."
Psalms 146:1-2

It is the Lord's Day.
Go to church today.
Praise the Lord.
Sing songs to him.
Worship the Lord who made you.
Give thanks to him.

(February 16, 2002 8:36 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"By patient endurance
you will save your lives."
Luke 21:19

Hang in there.
You will make it.
God is there to see you through.
The times are tough.
Your patience is being tested.
Be strong.
This is not easy.
Call on the Lord for help.
He is there with you every step of the way.

(February 15, 2002 6:17 AM CST)

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever."
Hebrews 13:8

Our Lord always was and will always be.
He is here forever.
I'm talking millions of years.
We spend 70 or 80 years on earth
and think it is a long time.
Take a look at the big picture.
Think outside of the box.
You want to spend forever with God.
Call on the Lord Jesus today.
Jesus, I want to be with you forever.

(February 14, 2002 6:13 AM CST)

Happy Valentine's Day.
God loves you very much!

Jesus said,
"I am the good shepherd.
I know my sheep and my sheep know me
in the same way that the Father knows me
and I know the Father;
for these sheep I will give my life."
John 10:14-15

Jesus gave his life to save you.
What more could you ask for?

(February 13, 2002 6:16 AM CST)

The season of Lent begins today.
Let it be a time for you to draw nearer to Jesus.

"My God in turn will supply your needs fully,
in a way worthy of his magnificent riches in Christ Jesus.
All glory to our God and Father for unending ages!
Amen."
Philippians 4:19-20

Change.
Let go of the unimportant things (like watching TV).
Spend time with the Lord.
Set aside time to pray daily.
The Lord will bless you.
You will receive way more than you can imagine.
Let his joy fill your heart.
He is magnificent!

(February 12, 2002 6:10 AM CST)

"...despite the increase of sin,
grace has far surpassed it,
so that, as sin reigned through death,
grace may reign by way of justice leading to eternal life,
through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 5:20-21

Grace is there for you.
It is abundant grace.
Lord, rain down your grace on us today.
We need all the help that we can get.
Help us in time of temptation.
Make us strong in the faith.
Help us do what is right.
Forgive our sins.
Heal us, Lord.
Lead us to eternal life.
We ask this in the name of Jesus.

(February 11, 2002 6:14 AM CST)

"Jesus said to them,
'What were you discussing as you go your way?'"
Luke 24:17

What do you talk about?
Do you discuss anything important?
How do you know if it is true or not?
Study the word.
Open the Bible and study it.
Discuss this.
Call on the Holy Spirit to point things out.
Praise God for his goodness.
Talk about the greatness of the Lord.
What are you talking about?

(February 10, 2002 7:15 PM CST)

"Jesus was sleeping soundly,
so they made their way toward him and woke him:
'Lord, save us!
We are lost!'
He said to them:
'Where is your courage?
How little faith you have!'
Then he stood up and took the winds and the sea to task.
Complete calm ensued; the men were dumbfounded.
'What sort of man is this,' they said,
'that even the winds and the sea obey him?'"
Matthew 8:25-27

Jesus can control the weather.
He put the stars in their place.
They all obey him.
The universe is a place of order and beauty.
He is the great artist.
He is the author.
Will you let him control your life?
Do you have courage?
Will you obey his ways?
Calm will ensue.
Your life will be beautiful.

(February 9, 2002 9:29 AM CST)

Did you see the
opening ceremony of the Olympics last night?
It was something to see all the nations
that were there to compete.
President Bush in the middle of all the USA athletes
was another unique moment.
Let the games begin.

"The voice of the Lord is over the waters,
the God of glory thunders,
the Lord, over vast waters.
The voice of the Lord is mighty;
the voice of the Lord is majestic."
Psalms 29:3-4

Who is the best?
Who is the greatest?
It is the Lord.
He is mighty.
He is the powerful one.
Let us praise him today.
May all nations praise the Lord.
May we all be one under God.

(February 8, 2002 6:09 AM CST)

"God has not destined us for wrath
but for acquiring salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
He died for us, that all of us, whether awake or asleep,
together might live with him.
Therefore, comfort and upbuild one another,
as indeed you are doing."
1 Thessalonians 5:9-11

Our hope is in Christ.
When we die he will take us home to heaven.
This is our destiny.
Call on the Lord to save you.
Be comforted by these thoughts.
We are only here on earth for a short time.
Look forward to spending eternity with the Lord.

(February 7, 2002 6:10 AM CST)

"For if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord,
and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved.
Faith in the heart leads to justification,
confession on the lips to salvation."
Romans 10:9-10

Words are very powerful.
Thoughts are important.
Decisions have to be made.
Say with your mouth that you believe in Jesus.
Speak the words.
Hear the words.
Feel it in your heart.
Jesus will save you.

(February 6, 2002 6:12 AM CST)

"The fervent petition of a holy man is powerful indeed.
Elijah was only a man like us,
yet he prayed earnestly that it would not rain
and no rain fell on the land for 3 years and 6 months.
When he prayed again,
the sky burst forth with rain
and the land produced its crop."
James 5:16-18

Prayer is powerful.
Have confidence.
Our Father in heaven hears our prayers.
I pray for sufficient moisture for the farmers this year.
I pray for healing for many sick people that I know.
I ask God to give wisdom to our leaders.
I pray for the unemployed to find work.
I ask Jesus to bless all the people who read S2L each day.
Lord, hear our prayers.

(February 5, 2002 6:09 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"If you can trust a man in little things,
you can also trust him in greater;
while anyone unjust in a slight matter
is also unjust in greater.
If you cannot be trusted with elusive wealth,
who will trust you with lasting?"
Luke 16:10-11

It is a test.
It is Life 101.
What are you doing with your talents?
How are you using your money?
God has blessed you with many gifts.
How are you using them?
This is preparation time for eternity.
Are you ready for eternal gifts?
Are you ready for the big time?
It is time to hit the books and study.

(February 4, 2002 6:15 AM CST)

"Little children,
let us love in deed and in truth
and not merely talk about it."
1 John 3:18

Words are fine.
Talk is great.
But actions are better.
Put love into action.
Speak the truth.
Live the truth with your life.

(February 3, 2002 8:04 AM CST)

Yesterday I was reading about
Sriwittayapaknam School in Samut Prakan, Thailand .
I took the "A Day in the Life" tour.
They play the national anthem at 8 AM and 6 PM each day
on every radio and TV station.
It is very interesting.
They are 13 hours ahead of Omaha
(9:04 PM when I started writing this).
The web site is very well done.

"God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son,
that whoever believes in him may not die
but may have eternal life."
John 3:16

That is love.
That is true love.
You give your life so that another can live.
Jesus did this for you.
He gave his life so that you could live.
He is true love.
He gave his life for all those people in Thailand.
About 95% of Thailand are Buddhists.
May they one day find Jesus.
He is the way, the truth and the life.
Let us pray for them today.

(February 2, 2002 8:23 AM CST)

"Owe no debt to anyone except the debt
that binds us to love one another.
He who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law."
Romans 13:8

Where are your thoughts?
Do you ever think of others?
Do something for your neighbor.
It could be as simple as shoveling the snow for them.
The possibilities are endless.
Send a card to someone that has lost
a loved one this past year.
This will bind us together.
Do something.

(February 1, 2002 6:05 AM CST)

I would say we got 6 inches of snow.
The people with snow blowers are very happy.

Jesus said,
"When you stand to pray,
forgive anyone against whom you have a grievance
so that your heavenly Father may in turn
forgive you your faults."
Mark 11:25

Forgive those who have hurt you.
Forgive so that the Lord can forgive you.
Is it easy?
No, but the Lord says to do it.
Ask for his love and patience.
You can do it with God's help.
