April, 2002

Jesus is alive
Praise the Lord

God is Love

Bless the Lord

Spring to life with Jesus

Pray often

(April 30, 2002 6:10 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"I pray that they may be one in us,
that the world may believe that you sent me."
John 17:21

Unity is important.
May all Christians be one.
We all have one Father in heaven.
Let us join together in prayer.
Jesus is praying for us to be one.
Then the world will see our witness.
We should love one another.

(April 29, 2002 6:07 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Listen carefully to what you hear.
In the measure you give you shall receive,
and more besides.
To those who have, more will be given;
from those who have not,
what little they have will be taken away."
Mark 4:24-25

God gives wonderful gifts to you.
He gives you talents.
Are you using them?
Are you listening carefully?
Use these gifts from God.
It will change the world.
It will make it a better place.
It will make you a better person.

(April 28, 2002 6:49 AM CDT)

"My brothers (and sisters),
what good is it to profess faith without practicing it?
Such faith has no power to save one, has it?"
James 2:14

There should be something.
Your life should be changed in some way.
People should know that you love Jesus and server him.
There is something different about you.
You should be a new creation.
Be a thoughtful person of faith.

(April 27, 2002 6:08 AM CDT)

"Such as these will suffer the penalty of eternal ruin
apart from the presence of the Lord
and the glory of his might on the Day when he comes,
to be glorified in his holy ones and
adored by all who have believed ---
for you already have our witness to you."
2 Thessalonians 1:9-10

I want you to be with Jesus forever.
Don't end up in eternal ruin far from God.
Call on the name of Jesus to save you.
Jesus, I give my life to you.
I come to you today.
Help me, Lord.
I have sinned.
Forgive me for all the wrong I have done.
Change me.
Make me a new creation.
I welcome you.
Teach me your ways.
I need you.
I want to be with you forever.

(April 26, 2002 6:10 AM CDT)

"He was seen by 500 brothers at once,
most of whom are still alive,
although some have fallen asleep."
1 Corinthians 15:6

Many people saw Jesus after his resurrection.
Our faith is based on these witnesses.
Many gave their lives as a witness to this truth.
Jesus is alive.
He has risen from the dead.
He is the Lord of life.
He put death in its place.

(April 25, 2002 6:05 AM CDT)

I tried playing golf last night.
It was very windy and 50F degrees.
I had a score of 55 and no pars yet for 2002.
I played at Dodge Riverside Golf Course in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
It is just across the river from Omaha, Nebraska.

"Jesus was fully aware that his disciples were murmuring
in protest at what he had said.
'Does it shake your faith?' he asked them."
John 6:61

Some of the things that Jesus said are hard to accept.
It takes faith.
Lord, please increase our faith today.
We trust in you.
Reassure us of your love.
Bless us, Jesus.
Help us to understand.
You know what is best for us.

(April 24, 2002 6:11 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Go into the whole world and
proclaim the good news to all creation."
Mark 16:15

The message of Jesus is good news.
He comes to bring peace to this troubled world.
He brings life.
Read the words of the Bible.
Share what Jesus has said with others.
It will change their lives.
It will change the world.

(April 23, 2002 6:07 AM CDT)

After 5 years I finally bought a new computer.
I'm typing on it now.
Can you tell the difference?
It is an HP Pavilion 520c.
It has Windows XP running on it.
I can't find things.
It is different, but I'm learning quick.
For example to start programs you click on the
"My Software Programs" icon on the Desktop.
Or click on Start and then "All Programs".

"They who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion
which is immovable; which forever stands."
Psalms 125:1

The Lord has been around forever.
He will be here forever.
Stay with him.
Be with him.
Base your life on Christ.
Trust the Lord will all your heart.

(April 22, 2002 6:05 AM CDT)

"In Damascus the ethnarch of King Aretas
was keeping a close watch on the city
in order to arrest me,
but I was lowered in a basket
through a window in the wall and escaped his hands."
2 Corinthians 11:32-33

God will provide a way.
He will help you when all seems lost.
He has all the resources of the universe to use.
He is faithful.
Put your problems in his hands.
He will rescue you from impossible situations.
Trust in the Lord.

(April 21, 2002 8:20 AM CDT)

We are getting some rain yesterday and today.
Praise the Lord!
We are in a drought again, so this should help.

"Each of you is a son (or daughter) of God
because of your faith in Christ Jesus."
Galatians 3:26

Be in the family.
Be a son or a daughter.
Follow the Father.
Be led by the Holy Spirit.
Walk beside the Son of God.
You are in good company.
You are part of the family of God.
Help you brother and sister.

(April 20, 2002 6:14 AM CDT)

"This is what we proclaim to you:
what was from the beginning,
what we have heard,
what we have seen with our eyes,
what we have looked upon
and our hands have touched ---
we speak of the word of life."
1 John 1:1

The words in the Bible are life.
They give life.
God speaks to you.
He shows you things.
He teaches you.
He touches your life.
It is proclaimed to you.
Open your eyes.
See the wonderful things that God can do.

(April 19, 2002 6:04 AM CDT)

"Our preaching of the gospel
proved not a mere matter of words for you
but one of power;
it was carried on in the Holy Spirit
and out of complete conviction."
1 Thessalonians 1:5

The words in the Bible are more than words ---
they are God's words.
They are inspired by the Holy Spirit.
They are words to enlighten us.
They are words of power to change us.

(April 18, 2002 5:59 AM CDT)

I've been sneezing a lot lately.
It must be springtime.
Everything is growing and coming back to life.
It is so amazing to see
all the plants popping out of the ground.

"All depends on faith,
everything is grace."
Romans 4:16

Do you have faith?
Do you trust the Lord and his promises?
Believe in Jesus and his words of love.
Be blessed today by his grace.
Receive this free gift of love from the Father.
Thank the Lord for his blessings on you.

(April 17, 2002 6:04 AM CDT)

"Paul explained many things
showing that the Messiah had to suffer
and rise from the dead:
'This Jesus I am telling you about is the Messiah!'"
Acts 17:3

Jesus suffered and died.
He rose from the dead.
Why would he go through all that?
He loves us.
He cares about us.
He wants to save you from death.
He is the Messiah.

(April 16, 2002 6:00 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"When the Paraclete comes,
the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father ---
and whom I myself will send from the Father ---
he will bear witness on my behalf.
You must bear witness as well
for you have been with me from the beginning."
John 15:26-27

Come, Holy Spirit.
Come and change us.
Lead us to the truth.
Help us to witness to the truth.
Thank you, Father, for your love for us.
Thank you for all your gifts.
You have been with us from the beginning of our lives.
We need you.

(April 15, 2002 5:58 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Any man who desires to come to me
will hear my words and
put them into practice."
Luke 6:47

When you come to the Lord there should be a change.
The Lord teaches you new things.
You apply them to your life.
That is why it is important to read the Bible.
The Lord wants to show you new things.
He wants to build your faith.
Hear what the Lord says.
Go to church and Bible studies.
The Holy Spirit will teach you through the preacher.
Be open to something new.
Change your life.
Be more like Jesus.

(April 14, 2002 7:20 AM CDT)

"When the Lord brought back the captives of Zion,
we were like men dreaming.
Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
and our tongue with rejoicing.
Then they said among the nations,
'The Lord has done great things for them.'
The Lord has done great things for us;
we are glad indeed."
Psalms 126:1-3

When you give up your sin it is like returning from captivity.
You have been far from home and you come back.
You come back to your senses.
God has made you.
He loves you.
Why would you run away from him?
It makes no sense.
Return home.
Let the laughter return.
Start to rejoice again.
You are glad indeed.

(April 13, 2002 6:22 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"What does the reign of God resemble?
To what shall I liken it?
It is like mustard seed which a man took
and planted in his garden.
It grew and became a large shrub
and the birds of the air nested in its branches."
Luke 13:18-19

There is a lot that we don't see.
God is at work.
He is doing amazing things all the time.
He is building our faith.
We are hopefully becoming more and more like him.
I pray that your faith will grow.
Be planted in God's garden.

(April 12, 2002 6:12 AM CDT)

Today I'm going to a class on Linux .
It is an introductory class.
The class is at 44th and Douglas in Omaha.

"In the Lord's eyes,
one day is as a thousand years
and a thousand years are as a day.
The Lord does not delay in keeping his promise ---
though some consider it 'delay.'"
2 Peter 3:8-9

He will return one day.
Christ will come again.
He will answer our prayers...
in his time.
His time scale is much different than ours.
He will not delay.
His timing is perfect.
You can count on him.
He is faithful to his promises.
Trust in the Lord.

(April 11, 2002 6:11 AM CDT)

"Alexander the coppersmith did me a great deal of harm;
the Lord will repay him according to his deeds."
2 Timothy 4:14

People will harm us.
They will hurt us.
How do you react?
Do you take the law into your own hands?
Let the Lord deal with them.
Pray for them.
Pray for their conversion.
Forgive them.
Leave it in the Lord's hands.

(April 10, 2002 6:04 AM CDT)

"Test yourselves to see whether you are living in faith;
examine yourselves."
2 Corinthians 13:5

Examine your life.
Are you doing what God wants or
are you doing whatever you want?
Live a life of faith.
Keep things simple.
Pray often.
You need the Holy Spirit to guide you.
Correct what is wrong.
Jesus will help you stay on the right path.

(April 9, 2002 6:07 AM CDT)

"We know that Christ,
once raised from the dead,
will never die again;
death has no more power over him."
Romans 6:9

Christ died for us.
He was raised from the dead.
He died once to save us.
Thank the Lord for what he has done for us.
Praise the Lord for his goodness.
He is a God of mercy.
Ask the Lord to forgive you today.
Start over again.
Death will have no power over you.
Find eternal life in Christ.

(April 8, 2002 6:13 AM CDT)

"God worked extraordinary miracles at the hands of Paul.
When handkerchiefs or cloths which had touched his skin
were applied to the sick,
their diseases were cured and
evil spirits departed from them."
Acts 19:11-12

Paul was a servant of God.
He was led by the Holy Spirit.
He was close to the Lord.
Amazing things happen when you work with the Lord.
Extraordinary things are normal.
You expect miracles.
Be healed of your diseases.
The Lord is so wonderful.
Come near to the Lord and see.

(April 7, 2002 8:26 AM CDT)

Yesterday I found out that a friend (Barb) had died on Thursday.
I went to visit her at the nursing home.
Pray for her and her family.
Thanks.

Jesus said,
"I am the good shepherd,
I know my sheep
and my sheep know me
in the same way that the Father knows me
and I know the Father;
for these sheep I will give my life."
John 10:14-15

Follow the Lord all your life.
He will lead you home.
He knows the way that leads to eternal life.
He is the Good Shepherd.
Follow Jesus.
Know Jesus.

(April 6, 2002 6:10 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"Anyone who does not take up his cross and follow me
cannot be my disciple."
Luke 14:27

There will be suffering in this life.
It will be difficult.
Follow Jesus.
He is your teacher.
He will lead you through the difficult times.
Be his disciple.

(April 5, 2002 6:06 AM CST)

"He will strengthen you to the end,
so that you will be blameless
on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God is faithful,
and it was he who called you to fellowship
with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."
1 Corinthians 1:8-9

God will never fail you.
He is faithful.
He will save you.
Let him change you.
Ask for strength.
Seek holiness.
Have fellowship with Jesus.

(April 4, 2002 6:03 AM CST)

"Since you have been raised up in company with Christ,
set your heart on what pertains to higher realms
where Christ is seated at God's right hand.
Be intent on things above
rather than on things of earth."
Colossians 3:1-2

Where is your focus?
Is it here on earth?
Is it something you can see and touch?
Paul suggests looking higher.
Look up.
Look to the infinite.
Search for Christ.
Pray to him.
Think about him.

(April 3, 2002 6:02 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"Full authority has been given to me
both in heaven and on earth;
go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations.
Baptize them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Teach them to carry out everything I have commanded you.
And know that I am with you always,
until the end of the world!"
Matthew 28:18-20

Ask others to follow Jesus.
Encourage them to serve God.
Baptize new believers.
Make them children of God.
Call on the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Teach new believers.
Show them the truth.
Be comforted to know that Jesus is with you always
until the end of time.

(April 2, 2002 6:12 AM CST)

Let us pray for peace in Israel.
May the bombing end.
Lord, we ask for your help.

"Happy is he who has regard for the lowly and the poor;
in the day of misfortune the Lord will deliver him."
Psalms 41:2

Remember the poor.
Give to them.
Pray for them.
Listen to those having troubles.
Be a friend to them.
Comfort them.
The Lord will bless your efforts.

(April 1, 2002 6:13 AM CST)

Lately I've been reading about
Microsoft .NET .
Our teacher from Canada last week told us that it was great,
so I thought I better read up on it.
I went to a 3-day class on "Beginning XML."

"While they were still speaking about all this,
Jesus stood in their midst and said to them,
'Peace to you.'
In their panic and fright they thought
they were seeing a ghost.
He said to them,
'Why are you disturbed?
Why do such ideas cross your mind?
Look at my hands and my feet; it is really I.
Touch me, and see that a ghost
does not have flesh and bones as I do.'"
Luke 24:36-39

It was Jesus.
He was alive.
The apostles had a hard time with this.
They were in a state of panic.
How could this be?
They saw him die.
Now he was alive.
Jesus is amazing.
He surprises people.
Touch his hands and feet.
Do not be disturbed.
