Jesus is light
Sing for joy

Love the Lord

Live for the Lord

God is love

Jesus loves you

(February 28, 2003 6:18 AM CST)

"You are a chosen race,
a royal priesthood,
a holy nation,
a people he claims for his own
to proclaim the glorious works
of the One who called you from darkness
into his marvelous light."
1 Peter 2:9

Tell others what you know.
Describe what you have seen and heard.
Proclaim the wonders of God.
He chose you to be his son or daughter.
You are part of the family of God.

(February 27, 2003 6:18 AM CST)

"To the King of ages,
the immortal, the invisible, the only God,
be honor and glory forever and ever!
Amen."
1 Timothy 1:17

Give praise to the King.
He is the Lord of all creation.
Praise him.
Give him all the glory.
Worship the King of Kings forever.

(February 26, 2003 6:21 AM CST)

"All men (and women) are now undeservedly justified
by the gift of God,
through the redemption wrought in Christ Jesus."
Romans 3:24

You can't earn your way to heaven.
It is a gift.
It is for all people.
Ask Jesus to save you from death.
Ask him to forgive your sins.
Jesus, come and save me.
I want to be with you forever.
Forgive my sins.
Give me life that never ends.

(February 24, 2003 6:20 AM CST)

"Barnabas and Paul gave their disciples reassurances
and encouraged them to persevere in the faith
with this instruction:
'We must undergo many trials
if we are to enter into the reign of God.'"
Acts 14:22

It will not be easy.
Life is a struggle.
Jesus will help you.
He will help in time of difficulty.
Call on him to rescue you.

(February 23, 2003 8:05 AM CST)

Yesterday I read enough about skin cancer to make my head spin.
There is a lot to think about and consider.
My thought this morning is that
since there is still cancer on my ear
I should have more surgery to remove it.
Find it and get rid of it.
The interferon approach might and might not work,
but the surgery will work for sure.
Someone named John died yesterday at 5:41 PM
it said on the www.mpip.org bulletin board.
Wow, this is serious stuff.
You want to catch it early before it spreads elsewhere.
Pray for all these people that have skin cancer (melanoma).

Jesus said,
"One who lights a lamp does not put it in the cellar
or under a bushel basket, but rather on a lampstand,
so that they who come in may see the light."
Luke 11:33

Jesus is the light of the world.
He is hope for the hopeless.
He is very bright in this dark world.
Go to the light.
Seek to be near him.
He is joy every morning.
Come, Lord Jesus, and brighten our world.

(February 22, 2003 8:08 AM CST)

Today I entered a $1 dollar bill into
www.wheresgeorge.com .
The serial number is L06520347F.

My ear continues to heal.
It looks like an ear once again without that dark spot.
The nurse took out all my stitches yesterday.
(Stitches are usually left in for 7 to 10 days.)
The doctor says that the area of the skin cancer
was probably wider than the excision.
The cancer goes right to the edge of the excision on one side,
but we're not sure which side.
We should have marked its position better
(left, right, up, down, N, S, E, W, 1, 2, 3, 4?).
(Note this for next time you have an excision.)
We need to look at options on what to do next.
I could have more surgery or they could treat it
with a cream on the skin that creates interferon.
The interferon would fight the cancer.
I have to read up on all of this stuff.
Here I was all happy that things were going well
and now I find out the issue still is not resolved,
so I'm a little down today.
For sure you don't want the cancer to be there anywhere
and possibly spread to other parts of the body.

Jesus said,
"I assure you,
I have never found this much faith in Israel.
Mark what I say!
Many will come from the east and the west
and will find a place at the banquet
in the kingdom of God with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
while the natural heirs of the kingdom
will be driven out into the dark."
Matthew 8:10-12

Jesus was very impressed with the centurion.
He had great faith.
Jesus, I pray today to have faith in you.
Increase our faith, Lord.
We depend on you for all things.
You invite us to the banquet.
Thank you, Jesus, for all that you give us.
We accept the invitation to life.

(February 20, 2003 6:40 AM CST)

I went to a wake last night for Darryl.
He was a good friend.
He died suddenly a few days shoveling snow.
(Buy a snow blower for someone and save their life.)
I couldn't believe it was him listed in the obituaries.
The first day I thought it was someone with the same name.
The second day they listed his relatives
and I still had a hard time believing that he had died.
I just saw him a few weeks ago in perfect health.
He loved Jesus inside and out.
He was a wonderful man for God.
Pray for him and his family.
It is going to be very hard for his family.

"I will give thanks to you, O Lord, with all my heart;
I will declare all your wondrous deeds.
I will be glad and exult in you;
I will sing praise to your name, Most High."
Psalms 9:2-3

Lord Jesus, welcome my friend home.
He loved you so much.
He believed in you.
He trusted you.
We rejoice in a life well lived.
We give glory to you, Jesus.
You are our life.
You are our hope.
You are life that never ends.
Comfort the family today.
We ask this all in the name of Jesus.

(February 18, 2003 6:28 AM CST)

I went to see the doctor yesterday and
he says the skin graft on my ear looks good.
It has color in it.
The healing has begun.
Thanks for all the prayers.
Thank God.

Paul asked,
"Did you receive the Holy Spirit
when you became believers?"
Acts 19:2

Come, Holy Spirit.
Come and change us.
Come and heal us.
We need you.
Come Spirit of wisdom and understanding.
Show us the way to life.
Come, Holy Spirit.

(February 17, 2003 6:28 AM CST)

"There was one man who had been sick for 38 years...
Jesus said to him,
'Stand up!
Pick up your mat and walk!'"
John 5:5,8

Maybe you have been sick for a long time.
Come to Jesus.
He is the great healer.
He is the life giver.
Jesus, heal me.
I have been sick for so long.
Thank you, Jesus.
You are the holy one.
Praise you, Lord Jesus.
Come with your grace and power.
I believe in you.

(February 16, 2003 6:51 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"If a man wishes to come after me,
he must deny his very self,
take up his cross,
and follow in my steps."
Mark 8:34

Do you need all the things that you have?
Live the simple life.
Live for the Lord.
Follow after Jesus.
He will lead you to joy and happiness.

(February 15, 2003 7:54 AM CST)

Overnight we received some significant snow
and it is still snowing.
It is about 6 inches (15 cm) deep and wet and heavy,
so take it easy if you have to shovel it.
(Update: They say we officially got 8.9 inches (23 cm).)
It is a perfect day, if you have a snow blower.
My front storm door was frozen shut at the bottom
from the ice coating.
It rained all day yesterday.
Thank the Lord for the moisture.
We are still in a severe drought in Nebraska.

"Teach me, O Lord, your way
that I may walk in your truth;
direct my heart that it may fear your name.
I will give thanks to you, O Lord my God,
with all my heart,
and I will glorify your name forever."
Psalms 86:11-12

Ask the Lord to teach you.
We all have so much to learn.
Ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten you.
Thank the Lord.
Have a grateful heart.
Give glory to God.
He is deserving of all our praise.

(February 14, 2003 5:50 AM CST)

Happy Valentine's Day!

The surgery on my ear went well.
It only took an hour and a half to complete.
I lost count of how many stiches I got.
Thanks for the prayers.
I didn't sleep too well last night
with my ear covered in bandages.
Yesterday I was thinking about
how the doctor was in a sense saving my life.
God bless him and his staff.

"Love is patient;
love is kind.
Love is not jealous,
it does not put on airs,
it is not snobbish.
Love is never rude,
it is not self-seeking,
it is not prone to anger;
neither does it brood over injuries.
Love does not rejoice in what is wrong
but rejoices with the truth.
There is no limit to love's forbearance,
to its trust,
its hope,
its power to endure."
1 Corinthians 13:4-7

God is love.
Follow in his ways.

(February 13, 2003 6:29 AM CST)

"For if the word spoken through angels stood unchanged,
and all transgression and disobedience received its due punishment,
how shall we escape
if we ignore a salvation as great as ours?"
Hebrews 2:2-3

The message of God is clear.
Salvation is offered to you today.
Jesus Christ died for you.
He provides the escape from death.
Don't ignore this message.

(February 12, 2003 6:32 AM CST)

"The wages of sin is death,
but the gift of God is eternal life
in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 6:23

Jesus, we call on you today.
Forgive our sins.
Have mercy on our souls.
Give us life eternal.
Give us abundant grace.
Thank you for this wonderful gift.

(February 11, 2003 6:29 AM CST)

"After much discussion, Peter took the floor
and said to them:
'Brothers, you know well enough that from the early days
God selected me from your number
to be the one from whose lips
the Gentiles would hear the message of the gospel and believe.'"
Acts 15:7

We need leaders.
We need Christian leaders.
If God calls you, step forward and lead.
Our world needs you.
God be with you.

(February 10, 2003 6:29 AM CST)

Jesus asked,
"Which of you by worrying
can add a moment to his lifespan?
If the smallest things are beyond your power,
why be anxious about the rest?"
Luke 12:25-26

We worry too much about things.
We worry about war with Iraq.
We worry about the stock market going down.
We worry about losing our jobs.
We worry about cancer.
Give it all to Jesus.
All these things are beyond us.
Jesus is all powerful.
Trust in him to care for you and your future.

(February 9, 2003 7:31 AM CST)

Yesterday I was reading the
MPIP (Melanoma Patients' Information Page) .
There is a lot to learn.
It seems like they talk a different language
with all these medical abbreviations.
What I have is cured 99% of the time,
if caught in time.
Pray for all these people with melanoma.
Some are very sick.
Some have to make very difficult decisions on what to do.

Jesus said,
"The heavens and the earth will pass away
but my words will not pass."
Mark 13:31

We are only here on this earth for a short time.
Hold on to the words of Jesus.
He is the resurrection and the life.
He will lift you up.
He is hope when there is no hope.
He is with you for all time.
Read his words in the Bible.

(February 8, 2003 9:01 AM CST)

"I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart
in the company and assembly of the just.
Great are the works of the Lord,
exquisite in all their delights.
Majesty and glory are his work,
and his justice endures forever."
Psalms 111:1-3

Thank the Lord.
He is doing wonderful things.
He is a loving God who cares for you.
He will work miracles in your life.
Praise the Lord.

(February 7, 2003 6:28 AM CST)

I talked to the nurse yesterday at the doctor's office.
She said that I do have melanoma on my ear
and I need surgery to remove it.
The surgery will be next Thursday.
Yes, I have cancer (the "C" word).
I can't believe it.
She said to stop taking the daily One-A-Day vitamins,
because they have Vitamin-E in them.
It can cause problems with the surgery apparently.
She also said to stop taking aspirin,
but I don't normally take any aspirin.

"The grace of God has appeared,
offering salvation to all men (and women)."
Titus 2:11

It is offered to you.
Here is this great gift just for you.
Will you take it?
Will you run with it?
Receive this gift of God's grace to you.
You need all the grace you can get.

(February 6, 2003 6:34 AM CST)

"I received from the Lord what I handed on to you,
namely, that the Lord Jesus on the night
in which he was betrayed took bread,
and after he had given thanks, broke it and said,
'This is my body, which is for you.
Do this in remembrance of me.'"
1 Corinthians 11:23-24

Holy Communion is very important.
It is handed on to you.
It is a gift from God.
Take and receive and remember.
Jesus was broken for us.
Jesus feeds his people.
He is the bread of life.

(February 5, 2003 6:22 AM CST)

"Simon Peter asked Jesus,
'Lord, where do you mean to go?'
Jesus answered,
'I am going where you cannot follow me now;
later on you shall come after me.'"
John 13:36

Jesus opened the gates of heaven.
He did that for us.
We follow after him.
He has showed us the way to life.
Thank you, Jesus, for opening the gates.
We are most grateful.
Help us to faithfully follow you.

(February 4, 2003 6:29 AM CST)

"You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your strength,
and with all your mind;
and your neighbor as yourself."
Luke 10:27

Love God with all that you are.
Love your neighbor.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you accomplish this.

(February 3, 2003 6:28 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"If the son frees you,
you will really be free."
John 8:36

Sin weighs you down.
It is a burden.
It is a drag.
You need to set it free.
You need to be lifted up.
Ask Jesus to forgive your sins.
He will really set you free.
Your burden will be lifted.

(February 2, 2003 7:29 AM CST)

Today we are sad at the loss of the space shuttle Columbia .
We pray for the 7 astronauts that died and their families.

"The Lord bless you and keep you!
The Lord let his face shine upon you
and be gracious to you!
The Lord look upon you kindly
and give you peace!"
Numbers 6:24-26

God be with them.

(February 1, 2003 7:12 AM CST)

"Pilate interrogated Jesus,
'Surely, you have some answer?
See how many accusations
they are leveling against you.'
But greatly to Pilate's surprise,
Jesus made no further response."
Mark 15:4-5

Actions speak louder than words.
Jesus set a wonderful example.
He healed the sick.
He gave sight to the blind.
He fed the hungry.
He gave his life for us.
Pilate was blind to the truth.
Jesus was right before him
and did not realize who he was.
Pilate was so close and so far away.
Look at what Jesus did.
Examine his actions.
You will conclude:
Jesus loves you very much.
