April, 2003

God is your help
Open your eyes

See the glory of God

Jesus loves you very much

Ask forgiveness

Jesus is life

(April 30, 2003 6:14 AM CDT)

"I will give thanks to you, O Lord,
with all my heart;
I will declare all your wondrous deeds."
Psalms 9:1

Do you ever thank the Lord
or do you just ask for things all the time?
Say a prayer of thanksgiving
for all that he has done for you.
We thank you, Jesus.
You are soooo good to us.
Thank you for the rain here in Nebraska and Iowa.
Thanks for Christian radio stations.
Thanks for the freedom to worship you.
Thanks for a quick end to the war in Iraq.

(April 29, 2003 6:16 AM CDT)

"My brothers and sisters,
count it pure joy
when you are involved in every sort of trial.
Realize that when your faith is tested
this makes for endurance.
Let endurance come to its perfection
so that you may be fully mature
and lacking in nothing."
James 1:2-4

You will suffer.
There will be difficult times.
Call on the Lord.
He will help you.
Learn from the Lord Jesus who suffered so much.
This will give you endurance for what lies ahead.

(April 28, 2003 6:14 AM CDT)

Pray for a former neighbor that had a stroke recently.
Pray for him and his family at this difficult time.

"Brothers and sisters,
I do not think of myself
as having reached the finish line.
I give no thought to what lies behind
but push on to what is ahead."
Philippians 3:13

Learn from the past and move on.
Look forward.
Look upward.
Focus on Jesus and your goal of heaven.
Run to win.
Keep pushing.

(April 27, 2003 7:09 AM CDT)

"Just after daybreak Jesus was standing on the shore,
though none of the disciples knew it was Jesus.
He said to them,
'Children, have you caught anything to eat?'
'Not a thing,' they answered.
'Cast your net off to the starboard side,'
he suggested, 'and you will find something.'
So they made a cast, and took so many fish
that they could not haul the net in."
John 21:4-6

They did not recognize the risen Jesus.
They still did not understand who he was.
They did not recognize his voice.
They tried to do things on their own.
They went back to their old way of life.
They had so much to learn.
We are the same as them.
Listen to the Lord.
Obey him and great things will happen.

(April 26, 2003 7:48 AM CDT)

The headline in the newspaper this morning
says the war is over.
Thank the Lord.

"Rescue the lowly and the poor..."
Psalms 82:4

Think of the poor.
Help them.
Pray for them.
God bless them.
God be with them.

(April 25, 2003 6:16 AM CDT)

"By his wounds you were healed.
At one time you were straying like sheep,
but now you have returned to the Shepherd,
the Guardian of your souls."
1 Peter 2:24-25

You need healing for your soul.
Jesus will heal you.
Your sins are killing you.
Let Jesus save you from death.
He is the Good Shepherd.
He is your Guardian.
Let him help you.

(April 24, 2003 6:11 AM CDT)

"We should not absent ourselves from the assembly,
as some do, but encourage one another;
and this all the more
because you see that the Day draws near."
Hebrews 10:25

Attend church each Sunday.
You need your brothers and sisters in Christ.
You need the blessings from being there.
You need the encouragement.
You need the prayers of the community.
The Day is near.
Are you ready?
Be there next Sunday.

(April 23, 2003 6:15 AM CDT)

"The grace of God has appeared,
offering salvation to all people."
Titus 2:11

It is a free gift from God to you.
It is there for the taking.
Will you respond to God's gift?
Will you accept it?
Jesus offers you salvation.
Take it and run with it.

(April 22, 2003 6:09 AM CDT)

"When they had eaten their meal,
Jesus said to Simon Peter,
'Simon, son of John,
do you love me more than these?'
'Yes, Lord,' he said,
'you know that I love you.'
At which Jesus said,
'Feed my lambs.'"
John 21:15

Three times Jesus asked Peter if he loved him.
Three times Peter had denied the Lord.
There are things in this life what need to be corrected.
Something is not right and needs to be set straight.
You know what I mean.
Ask the Lord to forgive your sins.
You need correction.
Tell the Lord that you love him.
Jesus, I love you.

(April 21, 2003 6:11 AM CDT)

"On the evening of the first day of the week,
even though the disciples had locked the doors
of the place where they were for fear of the Jews,
Jesus came and stood before them.
'Peace be with you,' he said.
When he had said this,
he showed them his hands and his side."
John 20:19-20

It was Jesus.
It was no ghost.
He had flesh and bones.
He had the marks of his suffering.
He brings peace to them.
He calmed their fears.
It was Jesus.
He had risen from the dead.

(April 20, 2003 7:47 AM CDT)

Happy Easter!

"Early in the morning
on the first day of the week,
while it was still dark,
Mary Magdalene came to the tomb.
She saw that the stone had been moved away..."
John 20:1

Jesus arose from the dead.
He is alive.
He did not stay in the tomb.
Death was overcome.
Look at the risen Lord.
Examine his hands and feet.
It is Jesus.
He is alive.

(April 19, 2003 7:14 AM CDT)

Yesterday at church they sang the song
What Wondrous Love is This? .
It is a beautiful melody.
A different church played it also a few weeks ago.
God's love is something to think about.
Here is another link with 35 seconds of the music.
Another link has an interesting MIDI organ sound.
Click on "External".

"They shall look on him whom they have pierced."
John 19:37 and Zechariah 12:10

The scriptures were fulfilled.
The prophecy came to be.
Jesus was pierced for us.
The prophet Zechariah spoke of this.
This was written in about 520 B.C..
Read the scriptures.
Treasure them.
Look on Jesus today.
See what he went through.
He loves you very much.
It is a wondrous love.

(April 18, 2003 6:15 AM CDT)

"After the soldiers had crucified Jesus
they took his garments and
divided them four ways,
one for each soldier."
John 19:23

All that Jesus had was a few clothes.
He did not have a house or money.
He lived a simple life.
And yet he gave us many things.
He gave us his life.
He blessed us with forgiveness of our sins.
He gave us hope.
It is Good Friday.
We have been blessed.
We should be very thankful.
Thank you, Jesus, for dying on the cross for us.
Thank you for forgiving our sins.
Thank you for your great love for us.

(April 17, 2003 6:05 AM CDT)

Jesus spoke to Pilate,
"It is you who say I am a king.
The reason I was born,
the reason why I came into the world,
is to testify to the truth.
Anyone committed to the truth hears my voice."
John 18:37

Jesus is the truth.
He is all knowledge.
He is life in all its fullness.
Believe in him.
Place all your hope in him.
Listen to his voice.
Be committed to him.
He is the way, the truth and the life.

(April 16, 2003 6:11 AM CDT)

I mowed the lawn last night for the first time in 2003.
The mower started on the first pull of the cord.
Then the Lord sent rain this morning, so good timing.
It is springtime in Omaha.
We set a record high of 90 F degrees on April 14.
We are getting some very nice weather here.

Jesus said,
"I solemnly assure you,
you shall see the sky opened
and the angels of God
ascending and descending on the Son of Man."
John 1:51

You will see amazing things with Jesus.
He is the Son of God ---
second person of the Holy Trinity.
The angels serve him.
Let us sing for joy at his greatness.
He is the Lord of all.
He is something to behold.

(April 15, 2003 6:05 AM CDT)

I got an email yesterday from a friend.
Her Mom has skin cancer,
so pray for her and her family.
I told her I know all about skin cancer.
I know too much about it.
God bless them and be with them.

Jesus said,
"Give to Caesar what is Caesar's,
but give to God what is God's."
Luke 20:25

It is tax day here in the USA.
Jesus says to pay your taxes.
Don't cheat on the amount that you owe.
But he also says to support his plan for salvation.
Be generous to your church.
God bless all the IRS workers today.
It will be a taxing day for them and the days to come.

(April 14, 2003 6:11 AM CDT)

Jesus told a parable,
"Some seed, finally, landed on good soil
and yielded grain that sprang up to produce
at a rate of 30 and 60 and a hundredfold."
Mark 4:8

Be that good soil.
Be ready to receive from the Lord.
Be willing to grow.
You and the Lord can do amazing things.
Be open to be what God gives to you.

(April 13, 2003 7:48 AM CDT)

We begin Holy Week.
Take time to think about
all that Jesus has done for you.

"Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest!"
Matthew 21:9

Jesus entered Jerusalem in triumph.
The crowds welcomed him.
They shouted for joy.
Their King had arrived.
Welcome Jesus into your heart on this Palm Sunday 2003.

(April 12, 2003 8:15 AM CDT)

"We have this confidence in God:
that he hears us whenever we ask
for anything according to his will."
1 John 5:14

What is the will of God for your life?
Ask the Lord and he will reveal his plan for you.
Be in sync with him.
He knows what you need before you ask.
Pray with confidence to him.

(April 11, 2003 6:15 AM CDT)

"To the King of ages,
the immortal,
the invisible,
the only God,
be honor and glory forever and ever!
1 Timothy 1:17

He is the King of glory.
Praise God above.
He is immortal.
He was and is and will always be.
Praise the Lord.

(April 10, 2003 6:14 AM CDT)

"His death was death to sin, once for all;
his life is life for God.
In the same way,
you must consider yourselves dead to sin
but alive for God in Christ Jesus."
Romans 6:10-11

Christ died for us.
He died for all our sins.
He took that burden upon himself.
Let us push aside sin.
Let us strive to be holy, as Christ was holy.
Jesus, help us.
We call on your holy name.

(April 9, 2003 6:19 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Blest are they
who hear the word of God and keep it."
Luke 11:28

Are you blessed?
Do you hear what God says?
Are you listening?
Do you do what the Lord asks of you?
Keep the word.
Ask Jesus to help you with this.

(April 8, 2003 6:13 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"What is your thought on this:
A man owns a hundred sheep and
one of them wanders away;
will he not leave the 99 out on the hills
and go in search of the stray?"
Matthew 18:12

What do you think of that?
God is looking for you.
He is calling for you.
You are lost.
Do you respond?
Do you want to be found?
Say, "Here I am, Lord."

(April 7, 2003 6:17 AM CDT)

"'This is my beloved Son,
on whom my favor rests.'
We ourselves heard this said from heaven
while we were in his company on the holy mountain."
2 Peter 1:17-18

Peter was an eyewitness.
He heard the voice of God.
He told others about what happened.
Listen to the Lord.
The Lord has much to tell us.
Tell others what you hear.

(April 6, 2003 8:20 AM CDT)

A big snowstorm is approaching Omaha.
We could get 6 inches of snow today.
Last week it was 90 F degrees one day.
It's back to winter.
To check the current Omaha Weather
click on this link.
At the moment there is no rain or snow.

"Out of love,
place yourselves at one another's service."
Galatians 5:13

Think of others.
What do they need?
What can you do for them?
What can you do for someone else today?
Think of someone other than yourself.

(April 5, 2003 8:01 AM CST)

"In the place where Jesus had been crucified
there was a garden, and in the garden
a new tomb in which no one had ever been buried.
Because of the Jewish Preparation Day they buried Jesus there,
for the tomb was close at hand."
John 19:41-42

Jesus died for us.
He was buried in a tomb.
He did not stay in the tomb.
In three days he arose.
He overcame death.
Jesus is new life.

(April 4, 2003 6:16 AM CST)

"Praise the Lord, for he is good;
sing praise to our God, for he is gracious;
it is fitting to praise him."
Psalms 147:1

Let this be a Praise the Lord Friday.
God is good --- all the time.
He is kind and full of mercy.
He is a loving God.
Praise the Lord today.

(April 3, 2003 6:11 AM CST)

"The God of all grace,
who called you to his everlasting glory in Christ,
will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish
those who have suffered a little while."
1 Peter 5:10

Go to the Lord.
You have been called to his glory.
Offer up your suffering with him.
He is your strength.
He will restore you.

(April 2, 2003 6:09 AM CST)

"To him whose power now at work in us
can do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine ---
to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
through all generations, world without end.
Ephesians 3:20-21

God is changing you.
His love and power is working in your life.
He is making you from the inside out.
He starts with your heart.
Imagine that --- for all generations.

(April 1, 2003 6:22 AM CST)

"God said to him,
'You fool!
This very night your life shall be required of you.
To whom will all this piled-up wealth of yours go?'
That is the way it works with the man
who grows rich for himself
instead of growing rich in the sight of God."
Luke 12:20-21

The Lord warns those who pile things up.
Share what you have.
Help the poor and those in need.
Share your time and money.
Don't be a fool.
