November, 2003

Sing a new song
God loves you

He makes all things new

Your hope is in the Lord

Love your neighbor

Be still and listen to God

(November 30, 2003 8:23 AM CST)

"We must attend all the more
to what we have heard,
lest we drift away."
Hebrews 2:1

Don't drift.
The current will pull you away.
Keep up the effort.
Keep moving.
Focus on Jesus.
Listen to him.
Aim for him.
He is the way, the truth and the life.

(November 29, 2003 8:07 AM CST)

"Yes, and I ask you, too,
my dependable fellow worker,
to go to their aid;
they have struggled at my side
in promoting the gospel,
along with Clement and the others
who have labored with me,
whose names are in the book of life."
Philippians 4:3

Are you dependable?
Can God count on you?
Do you promote the gospel of Christ?
Do you struggle for the kingdom?
Labor side by side with your fellow Christians.

(November 28, 2003 6:26 AM CST)

"Paul went to visit the pair (Aquila and Priscilla),
whose trade he had in common with them.
He took up lodgings with them and
they worked together as tentmakers."
Acts 18:2-3

God bless your work today.
May he be with you in your job.
Share your skills and knowledge.
Be a team player.
May God bless your efforts.
Build a better world.
You are right where God wants you to be.

(Update at 8:23 AM:
Here are some pictures this morning
from the lake at Girls and Boys Town.

There are hundreds of birds there.
You can take a tour of Girls and Boys Town
to learn more. )

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

"In him my heart trusts, and I find help;
then my heart exults,
and with my song I give him thanks."
Psalms 28:7

We thank you, Lord, today.
We give you praise.
You have done so much for us.
We are grateful.
You have been so kind to us.
Thank you, Lord Jesus.
You are wonderful.

(November 26, 2003 6:23 AM CST)

Jesus asked,
"Which of you by worrying
can add a moment to his lifespan?"
Luke 12:25

Don't worry.
Have faith.
Trust in Jesus.
He is in control.
Call on his name.
He will help you.

(November 25, 2003 6:14 AM CST)

Pray for someone I work with.
They injured their hand a few days ago.

"Our God forever and ever;
he will guide us."
Psalms 48:15

God is there --- day in and day out.
He is faithful.
He is reliable.
Follow the Lord of all ages.
He has been around a long time.
He is our guide.

(November 24, 2003 6:19 AM CST)

Pray for someone I know
that is recovering from drug addiction.
They need your prayers.
They are in a 3/4 house.

"Submit to God;
resist the devil
and he will take flight."
James 4:7

Call on the Lord.
Follow his lead.
Push evil aside.
The devil wants to destroy you.
Ask the Lord Jesus for help.
Keep your focus on him.
He will help you.
He wants you to live.

(November 23, 2003 7:06 AM CST)

We are getting our first snow of the season
this morning here in Omaha.

"Seek after integrity, piety,
faith, love, steadfastness
and a gentle spirit.
Fight the good fight of faith."
1 Timothy 6:11-12

Be an honest person.
Be a person of integrity.
Have deep faith in Jesus.
Fight for the truth.
Struggle to do good.
Be consistent.
Jesus, increase our faith in you.
Help us in this fight.

(November 22, 2003 8:05 AM CST)

"Imitate me as I imitate Christ."
1 Corinthians 11:1

Who do you follow?
Who do you imitate?
Is it someone rich and famous?
Is it someone humble and sincere?
Follow Jesus.
Imitate him and his lifestyle.
Hopefully others will then imitate you.
Set an outstanding example.

(November 21, 2003 6:14 AM CST)

Have you read about
A Day at Baltimore Airport ?

"They devoted themselves
to the apostles' instruction
and the communal life,
to the breaking of bread
and the prayers.
A reverent fear overtook them all,
for many wonders and signs
were performed by the apostles."
Acts 2:42-43

They were a community.
They had instructions and teachings.
They learned and grew together.
Be part of a church.
Pray with them.
Learn with them.
Share with them.
Jesus is there in your midst.
He is alive.

(November 20, 2003 6:19 AM CST)

"At sunset, all who had people sick
with a variety of diseases
took them to Jesus,
and he laid hands on each of them
and cured them."
Luke 4:40

We call on the name of Jesus today.
Jesus, lay your hands on the sick.
Be with them.
Comfort them.
Heal them.
Thank you, Jesus.

(November 19, 2003 6:19 AM CST)

"May grace, mercy and peace be yours
from God the Father and
Christ Jesus our Lord."
1 Timothy 1:2

We have all these things in Christ.
We are truly blessed.
Rejoice in knowing Jesus.
He is all that we need.
Praise the Lord today.

(November 18, 2003 6:14 AM CST)

"Those things I used to consider gain
I have now reappraised as loss
in the light of Christ."
Philippians 3:7

When the Lord comes into your life
you see things differently.
You thought it was so important
to own the latest thing.
You just had to have it and
then it just sits around your place.
The light of Christ has appeared.
It shows you what is truly important.
Think of others and not yourself.
Think of God and all he has done for you.
You see things you never saw before.

(November 17, 2003 6:15 AM CST)

"They have refreshed my spirit
as they did yours."
1 Corinthians 16:18

Are you a refreshing soul?
Do you enliven the lives around you?
Do you add energy to them?
Share your excitement of knowing Jesus.
Share the love.
He is life in all its fullness.

(November 16, 2003 7:13 AM CST)

Have you ever seen
The Interview With God ?
It is very well done.

I'm trying to learn to play the piano .
There are free lessons on this link.
It takes a lot of practice.
I'm getting better at reading music
and learning a little music theory.

"How often have I wanted
to gather your children together
as a mother bird collects
her young under her wings,
and you refused me!"
Luke 13:34

The Lord wants to protect us.
Will you let him?
Will you seek shelter under his wings?
Accept the offer of the Lord.
Run to him.

(November 15, 2003 8:00 AM CST)

"I am like a sparrow alone on the housetop."
Psalms 102:7

It would be nice to get above it all and
take a look down on how things are going.
You need God's perspective.
You need time to reflect.
You need rest.
You need quiet time with the Lord.
Find a place to get away for a few moments
and listen to the Lord and
dwell on all he has done and is doing.
Take a look at the sparrow .
God takes care of every one of them.

(November 14, 2003 6:21 AM CST)

"My brothers (and sisters),
count it pure joy
when you are involved in every sort of trial.
Realize that when your faith is tested
this makes for endurance.
Let endurance come to its perfection
so that you may be fully mature
and lacking in nothing."
James 1:2-4

We will have trials.
Our faith will be tested.
This makes for endurance.
We have to call on the Lord for help.
We learn our dependence on him.
Then our faith will grow.

(November 13, 2003 6:20 AM CST)

"The only stipulation was that
we should be mindful of the poor ---
the one thing that I was making
every effort to do."
Galatians 2:10

Do you think about the poor?
Do you pray for them?
Do you help them in any way?
They are very close to the Lord.
Get to know them and help them.

(November 12, 2003 6:16 AM CST)

"I can do all things through Jesus Christ
who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:13

I pray this over and over sometimes,
if I am faced with a difficult situation.
By saying it repeatedly it gets into my mind.
It fills my consciousness with God's truth.
He is my strength and
he will lead me through
the hard situation I am facing.
For example I have a fear of
people poking me with needles to draw blood
or getting shots at the doctor's office.
I say this verse from the Bible
over and over to calm me.
It helps greatly.
Jesus is our strength.

(November 11, 2003 6:14 AM CST)

Pray for my Mom.
She is sick.
Thanks.

"I set the Lord ever before me;
with him at my right hand
I shall not be disturbed.
Therefore my heart is glad
and my soul rejoices..."
Psalms 16:8-9

We will encounter difficulties in our lives.
They will be painful.
We will be shaken.
But the Lord is with us.
Take comfort in that always.
Jesus is right by your side.
Your heart will be glad.
Your soul will rejoice.

(November 10, 2003 6:12 AM CST)

Yesterday I had a little comment in the newspaper
about Qwest Center Omaha.
It was on page 14B.
Here is what it said:

Kudos, arena builders
On Nov. 5, I attended a meeting on the second floor of the Qwest Center Omaha. I was impressed. The place looks great! I wanted to thank all the workers who built it. They should be very proud.
Dan Boeckman, Omaha

The newspaper changed the title and other words.
I've never used the word "kudos" in my life.
Here is what I wrote:

Nice Job
On Nov. 5th I attended a meeting on the second floor of the Qwest Center Omaha. I was impressed. This place looks great! I wanted to thank all the workers who built it. You should be very proud of your work.

"A bishop must be irreproachable,
married only once, of even temper,
self-controlled, modest and hospitable.
He should be a good teacher."
1 Timothy 3:2

Let us pray for the leaders of the church.
God has raised them up.
Let us pray that they teach the faith accurately.
May they be instruments of peace in the world.
May they build the church.
God bless them today and be with them.

(November 9, 2003 7:52 AM CST)

Here is a picture from the history books.
It is a NYC ticker tape parade for the
3 astronauts
after the first men walked on the moon in 1969.
What kind of a car is that?
Count how many Secret Service people are in the car.
I count 9.

"Neither did we seek glory from men,
you or any others,
even though we could have insisted
on our own importance as apostles of Christ."
1 Thessalonians 2:6-7

Two of them (Neil, Edwin) were the first people
to stand on another world.
It was a historic achievement for the whole world.
As great as this glory was for them,
the glory of knowing Christ is greater.
God made the moon.
He made the earth.
He made all of us.
Give the glory to the Lord.
He made all of creation.
Praise the Lord.
P.S. Here is one of the famous pictures of
earthrise from lunar orbit .
It is so beautiful what God has made.

(November 8, 2003 7:30 AM CST)

"About midnight, while Paul and Silas
were praying and singing hymns to God
as their fellow prisoners listened,
a severe earthquake suddenly shook the place,
rocking the prison to its foundations.
Immediately all the doors flew open
and everyone's chains were pulled loose."
Acts 16:25-26

The Lord will set you free.
He will release you from prison.
The chains will be removed.
He will shake up your life.
He will turn it around.
Call out to the Lord.
Pray to him.
Sing songs to him.
He hears your prayers.

(November 7, 2003 6:19 AM CST)

Pray for a friend of mine that is looking for a job.
Thanks.

Jesus taught,
"No servant can serve two masters.
Either he will hate the one and love the other
or be attentive to the one and despise the other.
You cannot give yourself to God and money."
Luke 16:13

Check yourself.
What is more important to you:
is money more important or is God?
What are your priorities?
Do you trust the Lord to take care of you?
He will provide for all your needs.
He will find you a job.
He is most generous.
Be attentive to the Lord.

(November 6, 2003 6:14 AM CST)

"Then the Lamb appeared in my vision.
He was standing on Mount Zion,
and with him were the 144,000
who had his name and the name of his Father
written on their foreheads."
Revelation 14:1

The Lamb of God is Jesus.
He is there on the holy mountain.
He calls to all people of all time
to come to him.
He says to fill your minds with good thoughts.
Read what he said in the Bible.
Study his words.
Live by his words.
What do people see when they "read" your face?
Do they see the joy of knowing the Lamb?

(November 5, 2003 6:12 AM CST)

Did you see the Nova program last night on
The Elegant Universe ?
You can watch the programs online on this link.
Are there 11 dimensions?
It would not surprise me.
God has created a beautiful universe
for us to discover.
He is far beyond us.

"May he strengthen your hearts,
making them blameless and holy
before our God and Father
at the coming of our Lord Jesus
with all his holy ones."
1 Thessalonians 3:13

You need the Lord Jesus.
He will prepare you.
He calls you to holiness.
Be open to the will of God.
He has much in store for you.
You should be excited.
When he comes again you will be ready.

(November 4, 2003 6:13 AM CST)

"He rescued us from that danger of death
and will continue to do so.
We have put our hope in him
who will never cease to deliver us."
2 Corinthians 1:10

Jesus is our hope.
We no longer fear death.
He will provide us safe passage.
Believe in him.
Ask him to forgive your sins.
He will change your life and rescue you.
Be delivered.

(November 3, 2003 6:12 AM CST)

There are thunderstorms going through Omaha this morning.
Thank the Lord for the rain.

Yesterday I fixed about 130 HTML pages that I have.
They pointed to ccel.wheaton.edu and
I changed them to point to www.ccel.org.
Over the years they changed their Web address.
This is so that all the references to the Bible
on my pages work back to 1996.

"It is unheard of that anyone ever
gave sight to a person blind from birth."
John 9:32

Jesus did amazing things.
He cured the blind.
They could see for the first time.
He continues to heal.
Call on him today.
Jesus, open our eyes.
Heal our hearts.
Make us well.
We need you.
Heal my body.
Heal my soul.
Lift our spirits.
You are our only hope.

(November 2, 2003 7:25 AM CST)

"When Jesus had seated himself with them to eat,
he took bread, pronounced the blessing,
then broke the bread and
began to distribute it to them.
With that their eyes were opened
and they recognized him;
whereupon he vanished from their sight."
Luke 24:30-31

Jesus, open our eyes.
Let us see you.
Show us the truth.
Teach us more and more about you.
Give us our daily bread.
We need your strength.
Thanks for all that you have done for us.
We love you, Lord.

(November 1, 2003 7:36 AM CST)

After using Magix - Music Maker Deluxe 2004
for a while
I have discovered bugs in it
like a lot of other people have.
I guess I should have read the forum messages first
before giving them $60.
Hopefully they will patch it soon.
Meanwhile I am testing out the demo for
Project 5 from Cakewalk .
It only costs $429, so I probably will never buy it.

"All kings shall pay him homage,
all nations shall serve him."
Psalms 72:11

One day everyone will see that Jesus is the one.
They will bow down before him.
He is the king.
Let us give praise to him today.
He deserves all our praise.
Praise the Lord.
