Jesus said,
It will be tough at times.
"You will suffer in the world.
But take courage!
I have overcome the world."
John 16:33
The Christian life is not easy.
Jesus has overcome the world.
He has paved the way.
We can do it with his help.
Jesus, help us with this day.
We need you to make it.
Be near us, Lord.
(April 29, 2004 6:11 AM CDT)
Jesus told the crowd,
Jesus was upset with the crowd.
"What an unbelieving lot you are!
How long must I remain with you?
How long can I endure you?"
Mark 9:19
They had no faith.
He was disappointed with them.
Trust in Jesus.
He can do what he says.
Have no doubts.
Believe in Jesus.
(April 28, 2004 6:21 AM CDT)
"Grace and peace be yours
What a wonderful thing that would be
from God the Father
and the Lord Jesus Christ."
2 Thessalonians 1:2
to have peace.
You look at all the
violence in Iraq
.
Every day more and more people are killed.
When will it ever end?
Let us pray for grace and peace
in our troubled world.
Jesus, help us.
We need your grace.
We need your peace.
Help us, Lord.
(April 27, 2004 6:24 AM CDT)
Last night I helped with writing
"We entered the home of Philip the evangelist,
Prophecy.
"Thank You" notes for
Siena / Francis House
.
So if you sent in a contribution recently
you might get a note back that I addressed.
God bless all those who sent in donations.
one of the Seven, with whom we stayed.
This man had four unmarried daughters
gifted with prophecy."
Acts 21:8-9
The gift of prophecy.
Is it still around in 2004?
Do you have this gift?
See things clearly.
Ask the Lord for wisdom.
Listen to the Lord closely.
Share what insights you have from the Lord.
Tell it the way it is or will be.
Speak in the name of Jesus,
if you are prompted to do so.
(April 26, 2004 6:14 AM CDT)
She looked at Peter closely and said,
You know all about Jesus.
"You too were with Jesus of Nazareth."
But he denied it:
"I do not know what you are talking about!"
Mark 14:67-68
Do you admit it?
Do you deny it?
What do you tell others about Jesus?
Be open in sharing your faith.
Don't deny it.
(April 25, 2004 6:24 AM CDT)
Jesus said to Simon and Andrew,
Follow Jesus.
"Come after me;
I will make you fishers of men."
They immediately abandoned their nets
and became his followers.
Mark 1:17-18
Abandon the things that weigh you down (sins).
Stay close to the Lord.
Be faithful to him.
Catch the faith given to you.
Share the faith with others.
(April 24, 2004 8:03 AM CDT)
Jesus explained,
The word of God goes forth into the world.
"The farmer sowing good seed
is the Son of Man;
the field is the world,
the good seed the citizens of the kingdom.
The weeds are the followers of the evil one
and the enemy who sowed them is the devil.
The harvest is the end of the world,
while the harvesters are the angels."
Matthew 13:37-39
Some seed bears fruit in the lives of people.
They lead lives of faith.
There are weeds growing.
The devil seeks to destroy us.
It is a battle of good and evil.
Which side are you on?
God will win.
Be on God's side before the end of the world.
Choose God.
Live a life of faith.
(April 23, 2004 6:16 AM CDT)
"See how tiny the spark is
Be careful what you say.
that sets a huge forest ablaze!
The tongue is such a flame."
James 3:5-6
You could start a forest fire.
Speak only words of encouragement.
Give sincere compliments to people.
Say positive things.
(April 22, 2004 6:21 AM CDT)
"The spirits of the prophets
There should be order.
are under their prophet's control,
since God is a God,
not of confusion, but of peace."
1 Corinthians 14:32-33
There should be peace.
If there is confusion,
ask the Lord what is wrong.
Pray to Jesus to lead your church.
God be with you.
(April 21, 2004 6:18 AM CDT)
Jesus said,
Jesus lights up the world.
"I am the light of the world.
No follower of mine shall ever walk in darkness;
no, he shall possess the light of life."
John 8:12
He gives brightness and joy to life.
Life is worth living.
Live life to the fullest.
He wants you to see things the way they really are.
He points things out to you.
Ask for wisdom and it is yours.
See things clearly.
(April 20, 2004 6:17 AM CDT)
Last night John from Australia was at
Jesus said,
It is here.
the
Siena / Francis House
.
He is heading for a Lutheran camp
a hour north of Albany, New York on a lake.
He helped serve the dinner.
And Gary got a job.
That is great!
I met him a few weeks ago.
He was helping cook in the kitchen.
Pray for them both.
God bless them and be with them.
"You cannot tell by careful watching
when the reign of God will come.
Neither is it a matter of reporting
that it is 'here' or 'there.'
The reign of God is already in your midst."
Luke 17:20-21
It is today.
The reign of God surrounds you.
The blessings of God have been poured forth.
Will you receive them?
Will you let them enter your soul?
Will you let go and let God enter in?
It is here.
(April 19, 2004 6:13 AM CDT)
What impact would an
object hitting the earth
have?
Jesus said,
Jesus is there for you.
Put in the numbers at this web site above to see.
"Come to me, all you who are weary
and find life burdensome,
and I will refresh you.
Take my yoke upon your shoulders
and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble of heart.
Your souls will find rest,
for my yoke is easy and my burden light."
Matthew 11:28-30
He will help you through today.
Maybe you feel the burden is too great to carry.
Maybe you feel bombarded.
He is by your side.
Jesus, help me through today.
I need you.
Come, Lord Jesus.
(April 18, 2004 6:11 AM CDT)
"Shout joyfully to God, all you on earth,
God is wonderful.
sing praise to the glory of his name;
proclaim his glorious praise.
Say to God,
'How tremendous are your deeds!'"
Psalms 66:1-2
He is awesome.
Give praise to him today.
Shout for joy.
His deeds are amazing.
Thank him for his faithfulness and love.
Praise him for his mercy and forgiveness.
Praise the Lord.
(April 17, 2004 7:51 AM CDT)
Jesus said,
Jesus told stories.
"What do you think of this case?
There was a man who had two sons.
He approached the elder and said,
'Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.'
The son replied, 'I am on my way, sir';
but he never went.
Then the man came to his second son
and said the same thing.
This son said in reply,
'No, I will not';
but afterward he regretted it and went.
Which of the two did what the father wanted?"
Matthew 21:28-31
He wants us to think.
We need to examine things.
Is something good or bad?
Is this the will of God or not for me?
Pray for guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Listen to the requests of the Lord.
Then do the will of God.
Say "Yes" and follow through.
(April 16, 2004 6:18 AM CDT)
"Just after daybreak
Jesus will make suggestions to you.
Jesus was standing on the shore,
though none of the disciples
knew it was Jesus.
He said to them,
'Children, have you caught anything to eat?'
'Not a thing,' they answered.
'Cast your net off to the starboard side,'
he suggested, 'and you will find something.'
So they made a cast,
and took so many fish
they could not haul the net in."
John 21:4-6
He sees things that you do not see.
Will you listen?
Will you respond?
The results will be amazing.
Cast your net.
(April 15, 2004 6:17 AM CDT)
"We are afflicted in every way possible,
It is tough to follow Jesus.
but we are not crushed;
full of doubts, we never despair.
We are persecuted but never abandoned;
we are struck down but never destroyed.
Continually we carry about in our bodies
the dying of Jesus,
so that in our bodies the life of Jesus
may also be revealed."
2 Corinthians 4:8-10
It is not easy.
You will endure pain and suffering.
You will need to be strong.
Jesus is there by your side.
He is suffering with you.
He is holding you up.
In this the grace of God shows through.
(April 14, 2004 6:15 AM CDT)
Please pray for Patrick.
"As for yourself,
Be informed.
He is very sick with cancer.
God be with him and his family.
let your speech
be consistent with sound doctrine."
Titus 2:1
Know what Jesus has said and done.
Don't be afraid to speak up.
Use your voice to give encouragement.
Bless others with your voice.
Praise the Lord.
(April 13, 2004 6:11 AM CDT)
Mary said,
Mary felt the ups and downs of life.
"My being proclaims the greatness of the Lord
my spirit finds joy in God my savior."
Luke 1:46-47
Jesus was born and many strangers came to worship him.
She wondered about her child.
She saw him preach to vast crowds and perform miracles.
She must have been very proud of him.
Mary saw Jesus die.
What a sad day it must have been for her.
It broke her heart.
She saw him after the Resurrection.
She hugged him and talked to him.
He was alive again.
It was pure joy.
Through it all she proclaimed that God is great.
(April 12, 2004 6:15 AM CDT)
"This is the day the Lord has made;
Today is a beautiful day.
let us be glad and rejoice in it."
Psalms 118:24
Jesus has risen from the dead.
Joy fills the air.
We are very glad to hear this news.
"Alleluia." (verse 1)
(April 11, 2004 6:25 AM CDT)
Happy Easter Sunday to you!
The angel spoke, addressing the women:
It is true.
He is alive!
"Do not be frightened.
I know you are looking for Jesus the crucified,
but he is not here.
He has been raised,
exactly as he promised.
Come and see the place where he was laid.
Then go quickly and tell his disciples:
'He has been raised from the dead
and now goes ahead of you to Galilee,
where you will see him.'
That is the message I have for you."
Matthew 28:5-7
Jesus is alive.
He rose from the dead.
He has overcome death.
Rejoice!
(April 10, 2004 8:02 AM CDT)
"Jesus came and
Jesus opened the door to heaven for us.
'announced the good news of peace
to you who were far off,
and to those who were near';
through him we both have access
in one Spirit to the Father."
Ephesians 2:17-18
We now have access.
We will take advantage of it?
We will ignore such a great gift?
Accept Jesus and receive the good news.
The
Easter Bunny
that you see at the Mall
will be gone tomorrow,
but Jesus is here to stay forever.
(April 9, 2004 6:19 AM CDT)
"Jesus uttered a loud cry and said,
It is Good Friday.
'Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.'
After he said this, he expired.
The centurion, upon seeing what had happened,
gave glory to God by saying,
'Surely this was an innocent man.'"
Luke 23:46-47
It is "good" because Jesus died for our sins.
He died a horrible death.
He suffered greatly.
He did this for you and me.
He loved us that much.
He was innocent and we are guilty.
Jesus, thank you for dying for us in our place.
We are most grateful.
Forgive my sins.
Heal me, Lord.
You did it all for us.
Thank you very much for your great love.
(April 8, 2004 6:05 AM CDT)
Did you see this one in the news?
"The great crowd of Jews
I'd go to see them, also.
See how heavy a load
this car
has on its roof.
These two people needed some help.
We were all laughing at work yesterday from seeing this.
discovered Jesus was there and came out,
not only because of Jesus
but also to see Lazarus,
whom he had raised from the dead."
John 12:9
I'd want to see Jesus in person and
I'd like to see Lazarus walking around and talking.
I'd ask Lazarus what happened for the 4 days
that he was dead.
Did he remember anything?
And Lazarus died again a second time.
I imagine he was well prepared
to face death a second time.
It definitely would be interesting
to have talked to him.
(April 7, 2004 6:18 AM CDT)
Have you ever heard this story of the
Jesus asked them,
You should be stronger than that.
Hurricane of 1938
?
Someone received a barometer in the mail
and thought it was broke
because the mercury stayed at the bottom of the tube.
They repackaged it and sent it back at the post office
as the hurricane struck.
"Where is your faith?"
Luke 8:25
You should be able to handle change.
Jesus is right there.
You have faith.
Make it an active faith.
Jesus, increase our faith.
Help us to trust you completely.
(April 6, 2004 6:13 AM CDT)
Last night at the
Siena / Francis House
"My prayer is that your sharing of the faith with others
We take for granted the food we eat.
I was talking to Dave again.
He says that a retired doctor
counsels some of the people there.
That is great.
These people are in such great need.
God bless this doctor and
all the people he is trying to help.
may enable you to know all the good
which is ours in Christ."
Philemon 1:6
We have a roof over our heads and
don't think much about it.
God has been very good to us.
We have been blessed.
Share your blessings with others.
(April 5, 2004 6:12 AM CDT)
"They spread their cloaks on the roadway
The crowd near Jerusalem welcomed Jesus.
as Jesus moved along..."
Luke 19:36
They shouted praises to God.
For hundreds of years they had waited for him.
He came in triumph and joy.
"Blessed is he who comes as king
in the name of the Lord!" (verse 38)
(April 4, 2004 7:23 AM CDT)
It's 4-4-4 today.
"...but when the designated time had come,
God's timing is perfect.
God sent forth his Son
born of a woman..."
Galatians 4:4
He knows what he is doing.
Trust him.
You are here at this time and in this place.
Listen to the Lord.
He has a plan for you.
Do the will of the Lord today.
For the Lord is great.
He is something to behold.
(April 3, 2004 7:53 AM CST)
"Upon our entry into Rome
The Lord may send you to far away locations.
Paul was allowed to take a lodging of his own,
although a soldier was assigned
to keep guard over him."
Acts 28:16
You will meet many people
and see many things.
You may even end up in prison.
Pray for those you meet.
These are "divine appointments."
Tell them about Jesus.
I'm sure that Paul told the many soldiers
that guarded him all about Jesus.
(April 2, 2004 6:19 AM CST)
Jesus said,
It is not easy to follow Jesus.
"I have told you all this
to keep your faith from being shaken."
John 16:1
It is a challenge.
That is why he said he would be with us.
He is there every step of the way.
You are not alone in your walk of faith.
Jesus is there.
(April 1, 2004 6:21 AM CST)
Pray for my uncle.
This week I'm working on a different project.
"When Jesus returned to his disciples,
Jesus took time to pray.
He is very sick.
God be with him and his family
and the doctors and nurses caring for him.
It's called
Q Search
.
We have several people in from out of town
to discuss changing it.
It is something new for me to learn.
Pray for all the people working on this.
I will get to use some of the things
I have been studying like
ASP.NET
.
he found them asleep.
He said to Peter,
'So you could not stay awake with me
for even an hour?
Be on guard and pray
that you may not undergo the test.
The spirit is willing
but nature is weak.'"
Matthew 26:40-41
He encouraged his disciples to pray.
Prayer gives you strength to face
the challenges of life.
It is easy to be lazy,
but with God's help you will
be alert to do his calling.
You need prayer in your life.
