Love one another
Sing to the Lord

Praise the Lord

Love your neighbor

All that we have is gift

Point to God

(May 31, 2004 6:19 AM CDT)

(Update at 6:00 PM:

Here are some pictures
of 45th and Dodge Streets in Omaha
taken on the morning of May 27th.
Billy Graham was scheduled
to come to Kansas City in June,
but the event is now cancelled,
since he has been hurt again in a fall .
They just put up this advertising a few days ago.

The event will be rescheduled for the fall of this year.)

"The Word became flesh
and made his dwelling among us,
and we have seen his glory;
the glory of an only Son
coming from the Father,
filled with enduring love."
John 1:14

Planet Earth has been visited.
God has visited his people.
He has sent his Son, Jesus, to us.
He is the Word of God in the flesh.
He asked people to touch him
and see that he was real.
Treasure these words that Jesus has said.
They echo down through time to us.
We see the glory of God revealed.

Yesterday I ran
Spybot - Search & Destroy
on my hard drive.
It found a bunch of things to delete.

Jesus taught the people,
"How blest are the poor in spirit;
the reign of God is theirs.
Blest too are the sorrowing;
they shall be consoled.
Blest are the lowly;
they shall inherit the land.
Blest are they who hunger and thirst for holiness;
they shall have their fill.
Blest are they who show mercy;
mercy shall be theirs.
Blest are the single-hearted
for they shall see God.
Blest too the peacemakers;
they shall be called children of God.
Blest are those persecuted for holiness's sake;
the reign of God is theirs.
Blest are you when they insult you and
persecute you and utter every kind of slander
against you because of me.
Be glad and rejoice,
for your reward is great in heaven;
they persecuted the prophets before you
in the very same way."
Matthew 5:3-12

Attitudes to be.
Do them.
Be blest.

(May 29, 2004 8:15 AM CDT)

"By faith Moses' parents hid him for 3 months
after his birth,
thereby disregarding the king's edict,
because they saw that he was a beautiful child."
Hebrews 11:23

God had a plan for Moses.
He would lead his people out of Egypt.
He crossed the Red Sea on dry land.
He would speak to God and tell the people.
This all happened because of faith.
God has a plan for you.
You are a beautiful child.
He calls you to greatness.
Listen to the Lord.
He gives you faith for your calling.

(May 28, 2004 6:23 AM CDT)

"My God in turn will supply your needs fully,
in a way worthy of his magnificent riches
in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:19

Trust in God.
He will supply all that you need.
Rely on him.
He is your source.
He loves you very much.
He cares for you and your family.

(May 27, 2004 6:13 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"What does the reign of God resemble?
To what shall I liken it?
It is like mustard seed
which a man took and
planted in his garden.
It grew and became a large shrub
and the birds of the air
nested in its branches."
Luke 13:18-19

Your faith will start off small.
As the days and months go by it will grow.
It will happen gradually.
It will become huge.
It will amaze you, as you look back.
It will link earth to heaven.
Lord Jesus, increase our faith each day.
Teach us more and more about you.

(May 26, 2004 6:13 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Do you see all these buildings?
I assure you,
not one stone will be left on another ---
it will all be torn down."
Matthew 24:2

Change will come.
It will happen to you.
Can you handle it?
Will you make it?
Start with the renewal of your soul.
Focus on Jesus.
Build a new foundation on him.
His foundation will last forever.

(May 25, 2004 6:21 AM CDT)

Here are some Omaha job listings ,
if you are looking for a job.

"But whence can wisdom be obtained,
and where is the place of understanding?
Man knows nothing to equal it,
nor is it to be had in the land of the living.
Solid gold cannot purchase it,
nor can its price be paid with silver."
Job 28:12-15

Ask the Lord for wisdom.
He will give it to you.
The Lord is most wise.
Ask him for understanding.
He will respond.
He will guide your life.
Seek his wisdom.
It is a free gift.
Ask.

(May 24, 2004 6:26 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"I tell you,
there will likewise be more joy in heaven
over one repentant sinner
than over 99 righteous people
who have no need to repent."
Luke 15:7

Joy.
Joy in heaven.
Can you hear it?
Ask Jesus to forgive your sins.
Start over brand-new.
Feel the joy.
Hear the rejoicing.

(May 23, 2004 6:27 AM CDT)

Did you see this story about
an angel helping a 13-year-old boy ?
He prayed for help and the angel came.
Praise the Lord.

"Let our people
devote themselves to honest work
in order to take care of their needs,
so that they may be in position
to live fruitful lives."
Titus 3:14

God bless our work.
Offer up your actions to the Lord.
Ask God for help to figure things out.
Be honest in all that you do.
Work hard.
God bless our efforts.

(May 22, 2004 8:33 AM CDT)

Today I'm doing what I call a simulation.
What would I do if I lost my job?
A few of my friends lost their jobs this week.
I just wonder what I would do,
so I'm making notes on things I would change.
What can I live without?
What can I change to save on expenses?
Would I look for another job?
Would I start my own business?

"After a certain time Paul said to Barnabas,
'Let us go back now
and see how the brothers are getting on
in each of the towns
where we proclaimed the word of the Lord.'"
Acts 15:36

Check up on people that you know.
See how they are doing.
Maybe they have lost their job and need you.
Maybe a loved one has died recently.
Maybe they have lost their faith.
You can encourage them.
You can give them hope.
You can be a friend.
They need you.

(May 21, 2004 6:18 AM CDT)

I made the first par of 2004 last night.
I played at Fox Run Golf Course
in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
There are lots of sand traps and
I was in many of them.
Here is where it is located .

"The seed on good ground
are those who hear the word
in a spirit of openness,
retain it,
and bear fruit through perseverance."
Luke 8:15

Hang in there.
Persevere.
Listen to Jesus.
Read his words in the Bible.
Act on them.
Be open to what God has to say to you.
Let it sink in.
Let it grow.
There will be a great harvest.

(May 20, 2004 6:08 AM CDT)

"I will praise the name of God in song,
and I will glorify him with thanksgiving..."
Psalms 69:31

Do you ever thank the Lord?
He has given you many gifts and talents.
He provides for a place to stay and food to eat.
He has given you all that you need.
Will you use these gifts for the glory of God?
Thank you, Jesus, for all that you give to us.
We sing for joy at your many blessings.
We give glory and praise to you.
You are wonderful.

(May 19, 2004 6:17 AM CDT)

"This Son is the reflection of the Father's glory,
the exact representation of the Father's being,
and he sustains all things by his powerful word."
Hebrews 1:3

The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
It is a mystery.
The Trinity is something to ponder.
A wonderful mystery.
3 persons in one God.
Not 3 Gods, just one.
All 3 are equal.
St. Patrick used a shamrock as a symbol of this.
Jesus by becoming one of us
gives us great insights into the mind of God.
God loves us very much.
Something to reflect on today.

(May 18, 2004 6:16 AM CDT)

The last few days at work
they have been letting people go.
So pray for them as they try to find another job.

"All people are now
undeservedly justified by the gift of God,
through the redemption wrought in Christ Jesus."
Romans 3:24

It is a free gift from God to you.
You don't deserve it.
You can't earn it.
It is free.
Accept it.
Go with it.
Let it change your life.
Thank you, Jesus, for your many gifts!

(May 17, 2004 6:15 AM CDT)

"The Lord appointed a further 72
and sent them in pairs before him
to every town and place
he intended to visit."
Luke 10:1

The Lord has commissioned you.
You have been sent to your community.
You have brothers and sister in the faith
to encourage and support you.
You go before the Lord to prepare his coming.
God bless all those you meet today.
You are sent.

(May 16, 2004 6:39 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Know that I am with you always,
until the end of the world!"
Matthew 28:20

You are not alone.
Jesus is with you.
He is there to guide you to the truth.
He comforts you when you are lonely.
He gives you wisdom
when you don't know what to do.
Jesus, thank you for being with me.
You are very kind.
Thank you for your help.

(May 15, 2004 7:09 AM CDT)

Yesterday I was reading about the book
"The Purpose Driven Life" .
It looks like a very interesting book.
I really liked his
"Life Purpose Statements" .
(Note: You need Microsoft Word to view this link.
Save the file to your computer and then open it.)
I need to go buy the book today.
Someone that I work with is reading this book
and was telling me about it on May 10th.

Here are some random thoughts for today:
How do you change the world?
If you could change the world,
what would you change it to?
How could you achieve this?
You could run for president.
You definitely would have an impact on history.
I guess you start by changing yourself first,
since you are part of the world.
Very interesting.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
on your own intelligence rely not;
In all your ways be mindful of him,
and he will make straight your paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6

You can't make it to heaven on your own.
It will take some effort.
It will be a struggle.
Call on Jesus to help you.
He will give your life purpose.
He will keep you on the road
that leads to eternal life.

(May 14, 2004 6:09 AM CDT)

"They knew by revelation that they were providing,
not for themselves but for you,
what has now been proclaimed to you
by those who preach the gospel to you,
in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven.
Into these matters angels long to search."
1 Peter 1:12

There is a lot to think about.
There is much to ponder.
You look at the stars and galaxies.
How did God make them?
It is beyond our minds.
He loves us so much
that he came to earth to save us.
Even angels are fascinated by God and his ways.
Think about the Lord often.

(May 13, 2004 6:11 AM CDT)

"You know that
while all the runners in the stadium
take part in the race,
the award goes to one person.
In that case, run so as to win!"
1 Corinthians 9:24

God wants you to win.
He wants you to accomplish great things.
He wants you at the top.
He wants you to be an overachiever.
Run for your life!

(May 12, 2004 6:12 AM CDT)

Pray for someone that works on my floor
that hurt their arm.
May God quickly heal them.

"If you confess with your lips
that Jesus is Lord,
and believe in your heart
that God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved."
Romans 10:9

Do you believe it?
Jesus died for you on the cross.
He rose from the dead.
Do you believe in him?
Do you trust him?
Have you given your whole heart to him?
Many questions for you today...
what is your answer?
Say it with your lips.
Let your ears hear it.
Let others know it.
Jesus is Lord.

(May 11, 2004 6:07 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"The person who is not with me
is against me,
and the person who does not gather with me
scatters."
Luke 11:23

Are you with Jesus or against him?
There is no middle road.
Choose Jesus.
He is the way.
Gather together with other believers each Sunday.
Don't be scattered by the wind.
Belong.

(May 10, 2004 6:13 AM CDT)

Someone asked Jesus which commandment is the greatest.
He said to them:
"You shall love the Lord your God
with your whole heart,
with your whole soul,
and with all your mind."
Matthew 22:36-37

With all that you are love the Lord.
With everything inside you
give praise to the Lord.
Put your heart into it.
Think of him often.
He is the greatest.

(May 9, 2004 6:26 AM CDT)

Happy Mother's Day!
God bless all the mothers today.

"The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
In verdant pastures he gives me repose;
Beside restful waters he leads me;
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me in right paths
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk in the dark valley
I fear no evil;
for you are at my side
With your rod and your staff
that give me courage."
Psalms 23:1-4

Follow Jesus.
Follow the Good Shepherd.
He will refresh you.
He will protect you from evil.
He will give you courage.
He will lead you home.

(May 8, 2004 6:55 AM CDT)

Pray for rain for the farmers this year.
We are still in a drought
across most of Nebraska.

"They are blown on the wind
like clouds that bring no rain.
Like trees at the year's end
they bear no fruit,
being dead and uprooted."
Jude 1:12

Do you have an effect on those around you?
Is it positive?
Do you bring others closer to Christ?
Do you have spiritual goals?
Does your life produce any results?
Be rooted in Christ.
Be focused on him.

(May 7, 2004 6:15 AM CDT)

"Encourage one another daily
while it is still today,
so that no one grows
hardened by the deceit of sin."
Hebrews 3:13

Don't let sin trick you.
It is a trap.
It pulls you away from the Lord.
It takes you away from others.
It kills the blessings in your soul.
Ask Jesus to forgive your sins.
Start over again.
Fellowship with your brothers and sisters
in the Lord.
You need their encouragement.
They need your encouragement.
We need each other.
Grow in your faith with each other.

(May 6, 2004 6:17 AM CDT)

"This means that if anyone is in Christ,
they are a new creation.
The old order has passed away;
now all is new!"
2 Corinthians 5:17

If you give your life to Christ,
everything will change.
You will see things you never saw before.
There will be joy in your heart.
You will be at peace.
Your priorities will change.
You will think of others more than yourself.
You will help the poor and needy.
You will have a life of prayer.
You will have contact with God who made you.
You will receive blessings on top of blessings.

(May 5, 2004 6:23 AM CDT)

"I was very happy at the arrival
of Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus,
because they made up for your absence.
They have refreshed my spirit as they did yours."
1 Corinthians 16:17-18

Be sunshine in this life.
Let Jesus shine through you.
Refresh the lives of those around you.
You should have a positive impact
on those near you.
Visit others.
Keep track of them.
Share your life with them.

(May 4, 2004 6:26 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Anything you ask me in my name
I will do."
John 14:14

Can you ask for something in the name of Jesus?
Are you sincere?
Is your heart in sync with his?
Ask and you will receive.
You can't outdo the Lord in generosity.
His gifts are free.
You can't earn them.
He is a loving God.

(May 3, 2004 6:17 AM CDT)

"The four who carried the paralyzed man
were unable to bring the man to Jesus
because of the crowd,
so they began to open up the roof
over the spot were Jesus was."
Mark 2:3-4

Open up the roof.
Open the windows.
Let the Spirit of God into your house.
Come, Lord Jesus.
Come and heal us.
We need you, Jesus.
Help us to bring others to you.
Thank you for hearing our prayer.

(May 2, 2004 6:30 AM CDT)

"Praise be the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has bestowed on us in Christ
every spiritual blessing in the heavens!"
Ephesians 1:3

You have been blessed.
You have gifts on top of gifts.
Praise the Lord Jesus.
Blessings are yours in abundance.
Thank the Lord for his generosity.
He is most kind to us.

(May 1, 2004 8:21 AM CDT)

Here is a sound byte from
someone playing the piccolo .
This is in memory of Jimmy's Mom
who died April 26th in North Dakota.
She loved to play the piccolo.

"A wife is bound to her husband
as long as he lives."
1 Corinthians 7:39

Let us pray for all the married people today.
May their commitment to each other be strong.
May it last a lifetime.
Jesus, help them to be faithful to their promises.
God be with all of them.
