(November 30, 2005 Wed 6:22 AM CST)
That Bach organ music CD is working this morning again.
"For the upright will dwell in the land,
Read Proverbs chapter 2.
Beautiful music once again.
Figure that one out.
Yesterday I brought home a CD player from work.
I rarely use it and it is one less thing to move
to my new location at work next month.
But I lost the power cord somewhere downtown.
I will retrace my steps this morning
to see if I can find it.
the honest will remain in it..."
Proverbs 2:21
There is a place prepared for you.
The Lord is there.
It is a place of peace and joy.
Find it and remain there.
(November 29, 2005 Tue 6:24 AM CST)
(Update at 8:35 PM:
The wind is howling this morning.
"The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David,
Read the first chapter of Proverbs.
Someone sent this to me.
It is great.
It is 5 MB in size.
Lights
.
I think the music is from
TSO
.
I'm not sure.
Yep, it is.
)
We received a little snow overnight.
I have to give someone a ride to the airport
this morning before work.
Many times I have heard the suggestion to
read one chapter a day of the Proverbs.
Do it month by month.
There are 31 chapters and sometimes 31 days in a month.
Proverbs was written by Solomon.
Solomon asked the Lord for wisdom.
The Lord granted his request.
We should read what he had to say.
king of Israel:
That men/women may appreciate wisdom and discipline,
may understand words of intelligence;
May receive training is wise conduct,
in what is right, just and honest."
Proverbs 1:1-3
(November 28, 2005 Mon 6:21 AM CST)
Yesterday afternoon in the rain I went to check out
When you have to make a decision
the new
Hy-Vee in Council Bluffs
near the Mall of the Bluffs.
I did not see much.
I had something to eat and left.
I had to be at the Cathedral at 5:30 PM.
Yesterday I was studying the Book of Esther in the Bible.
It is interesting to see how God worked in her life.
"Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai:
'Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa,
and fast for me.
Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day.
I and my maids will fast as you do.
When this is done, I will go to the king,
even though it is against the law.
And if I perish, I perish.'"
Esther 4:15-16
do you go to the Lord?
Do you ask for his input?
He is there to help.
He is all wisdom and knowledge.
Consult the Lord.
(November 27, 2005 Sun 6:31 AM CST)
This morning I'm listening to
Let the Lord change you.
"How Great Is Our God"
by Chris Tomlin.
(Track 3 on this link.)
Today is the 1st Sunday of Advent.
Here are the
Bible readings
for today.
These words are read all over the whole world.
As it says...
"O Lord, you are our father;
we are the clay and you the potter:
we are all the work of your hands."
Isaiah 64:7 or 8
Let him mold you into something new.
He knows what is best for you.
He loves you very much.
He is your Father.
(November 26, 2005 Sat 7:19 AM CST)
(Update at 10:02 AM:
We won
, so everyone in the state of Nebraska
"Hence,
The promise is given to you.
I just listened to the broadcast today for
Joyce Meyer
.
People in my Bible Study listen to her.
She ended her talk with "God is in control."
I just read the

)
should be happy today.
Yesterday morning I was out for a walk at the
Westroads Mall and I just had to go home.
I was hurting too bad.
I wonder if I have arthritis.
I came back to the Mall late in the afternoon and
then I could do my hour walk during the second half
of the Nebraska football game.
all depends on faith;
everything is grace.
Thus the promise holds true
for all of Abraham's descendants..."
Romans 4:16
You will win.
You are on the winning team.
You are a descendant of Abraham ---
claim what is yours.
It is true.
Have faith.
(November 25, 2005 Fri 6:25 AM CST)
I feel like I should be out shopping somewhere this morning,
Jesus can do that for you.
but I'm still here at home.
I just took a look at
NGC 1333
.
It is very beautiful what God has made.
65713... 13... page 1213 of my Bible says...
"On one occasion in a certain town,
a man full of leprosy came to him.
Seeing Jesus, he bowed down to the ground
and said to him,
'Lord, if you will to do so, you can cure me.'
Jesus stretched out his hand
to touch him and said,
'I do will it. Be cured.'
Immediately the leprosy left him."
Luke 5:12-13
See Jesus.
Call out to him.
Have a conversation with him.
Ask him to heal you.
Thank him for his mercy and grace.
I ask the Lord to heal this bump on my head.
It has been there for many weeks (maybe years).
I call on you, Jesus, for help.
Heal me, Lord.
(November 24, 2005 Thu 6:31 AM CST)
(Update at 8:24 PM:
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
I'm listening to Bach music on harpsichord.
"As for me and my family,
Thank the Lord today.
Here are some pictures from this morning.
The first one is the church that I went to
in Omaha at 9 AM with my family.
They just cut down the trees in front of the church
due to a disease they had.
It looks all different to me.
The second picture is east of the church a block
in someone's front yard.
It was cold outside today.
The batteries in my camera kept dying.
And I definitely had enough pie to eat at two houses.
)
It's just not the same thing
as his organ music.
I watched the movie "Return to Me" yesterday.
It is a neat story.
I like it.
And it was free.
But when it is free,
you don't have any controls over the DVD.
There are no menus.
You get movie previews which you can't skip over.
There are no extra features.
You can't see the deleted scenes for example.
I'm trying to find you a
Thanksgiving Day Prayer
.
Please, stand by for a moment.
OK, click on the link above
and scroll down to
"A Thanksgiving Day Prayer Author Unknown."
It starts with:
"Lord,
We humbly ask Thy blessing
on the turkey and the dressing,
on the yams and cranberry jelly,
and the pickles from the deli."
They pass this prayer out at the
Boys Town Dowd Chapel each Thanksgiving.
Yep, I baked two apple pies yesterday.
They are in the refrigerator.
I downloaded some music from iTunes yesterday.
These are songs that they play at
TC
.
(Last Sunday's 11:30 AM sermon is available on this link above.
I heard the same sermon at the 9:30 AM service.)
The songs are:
"How Great Is Our God"
by Chris Tomlin.
(Track 3 on this link.)
"O Praise Him (All This for a King)"
by the David Crowder Band.
(Track 3 on this link.)
"Here Is Our King"
by the David Crowder Band.
(Track 3 on this link.)
"Let the Praises Ring"
by Lincoln Brewster.
(Track 1 on this link.)
I also want
"Not to Us"
by Chris Tomlin.
(Track 3 on this link.)
But look at this on the iTunes music store listing.
Song 3 is missing and that is the song
that I want on the CD "Not to Us".
Yeah, figure that one out.
You hear these songs and you want to get up and dance.
Really... truly... you do...
we will serve the Lord."
Joshua 24:15
Ask him to bless your family.
Lead your family nearer to Jesus.
Thank you Lord for hearing our prayers.
(November 23, 2005 Wed 6:21 AM CST)
Homework.
"Give thanks to the Lord,
We thank the Lord today.
Your homework is to get out a piece of paper
and write down what you are thankful for this year.
I am thankful for my faith in God
and for my family and friends.
I'm writing down things
on a blue piece of paper as I'm typing.
Why a fish?
Why buy a Beanie Baby fish?
A fish is a Christian symbol.
It goes way back to the beginning of Christianity.
You even see the fish symbol on cars today.
Today I have to bake a pie or two for
Thanksgiving tomorrow at my brother's house.
I like
Mrs. Smith's Dutch Apple Crumb
pies.
for he is good,
for his mercy endures forever."
Psalm 136:1
We bless the Lord.
He is good.
He cares about us.
He loves us very much.
His mercy is there for the asking.
(November 22, 2005 Tue 6:23 AM CST)
(Update at 8:21 PM:
Happy Birthday, Candace and Nicholas.
Would you pray for a friend of a friend?
Here is a picture from a few minutes ago.
It is a flying fish named Aruba
born on April 8, 2000.
It came in the mail yesterday from Burbank, Illinois 60459.
I need to hang it from the ceiling at work.
Today my CD player refuses to play my Bach organ music.
I wore out the CD.
It will play other CDs, but not the Bach one.
I need to buy a new CD.
I was at SFH tonight.
We had 5 people there.
Last week we only had 3.
It was a little crowded in the office.
We listened to
TSO
music.
I worked on writing Thank You notes again ---
not too exciting.
Today a free DVD arrived in the mail.
It is the movie
"Return to Me"
.
I will have to watch it tomorrow.
I saw it on July 20, 2005 for the first time.
I liked it.
)
I was talking on the phone last night to a friend and
she asked for prayers for her friend Linda.
Linda ran into a pole in a dark haunted house
at Halloween time with her grandkids.
She is still recovering from the injury.
Thanks.
Jesus, be with her and heal her.
(November 21, 2005 Mon 6:26 AM CST)
Yesterday I saw
Kris
signing books after church.
The Lord is coming.
She is an author.
She is fighting breast cancer.
Pray for her.
Thanks.
Jesus, please heal her.
Yesterday afternoon I went to my brother's house
near 180th and Harrison.
His kids did not open the door for me
after I rang the doorbell.
They did not know who I was.
It was that #4 haircut of November 7th by Connie.
I kept waving to them through the door window.
That was really strange when people don't recognize you.
Why? Why a #4 haircut?
It is a little reminder to me
so I don't forget my friend Arlis.
She lost all her hair.
She is gone now.
She died on my Dad's birthday October 12th.
I don't want to forget her.
Pray for her family.
It will be very hard for them
this Thanksgiving and Christmas.
She was a very special person.
I miss her.
52... 1452... on page 1452 of my Bible...
"In the Lord's eyes,
one day is as a thousand years
and a thousand years are as a day.
The Lord does not delay in keeping his promise ---
though some consider it delay.
Rather,
he shows you generous patience,
since he wants none to perish
but all to come to repentance.
The day of the Lord will come
like a thief,
and on that day
the heavens will vanish with a roar;
the elements will be destroyed by fire,
and the earth and all its deeds
will be made manifest.
Since everything is to be destroyed in this way,
what sort of men/women must you not be!
How holy is your conduct and devotion,
looking for the coming of the day of God
and trying to hasten it!
Because of it,
the heavens will be destroyed in flames
and the elements will melt away in a blaze.
What we await
are new heavens and
a new earth
where, according to his promise,
the justice of God will reside."
2 Peter 3:8-13
Are we ready to greet him?
He calls us to be holy.
Check yourself.
Ask Jesus to forgive your sins.
Prepare yourself to see his glory.
My friend Arlis was prepared.
She is seeing the glory of God now.
(November 20, 2005 Sun 7:03 AM CST)
KGBI 100.7 FM is playing Christmas music already in Omaha.
My clock/radio alarm went off at 5:00 AM and
was playing this song which I love to pieces.
"Christmastime"
by Michael W. Smith.
You can hear a 30 second sample on this link Track 3.
I just uploaded a picture on Highway 36 just outside
of Boulder, Colorado on Friday, November 4 in the morning sun.
TV channel 2 was capturing the beautiful scene also.
I think it is station KWGN WB2.
Yesterday it rained most of the day, so I did not go very far.
I put up a new blind in the basement window.
I ordered the blind from JCP with the help
of Becky and Trina October 19th.
Since I was there I cleaned up the basement a little...
not too much.
I cut up some cardboard boxes to recycle them.
(November 19, 2005 Sat 8:17 AM CST)
This morning my pager went off at 4:00 AM,
so I got up and checked one of the computers
at work to see how it was doing.
And I called the people that paged me
to say that things seem fine.
I went back to bed,
so my schedule is off by an hour or so.
Pray for my nephew that is sick.
And keep praying for my aunt in Ohio.
Thanks.
Yesterday after church at Boys Town
they had a birthday party for the pastor
there at the chapel.
I shook his hand and wished him Happy Birthday.
He is 71 tomorrow.
He is born on the exact same day as another
friend of mine that lives in Bellevue.
I need to call her today.
I finished watching the CMA Awards videotape yesterday.
Rascal Flatts DID win a category.
It was for the
Vocal Group of the Year
.
I like their music.
Congratulations!
The leaves are almost all gone.
I worked on them yesterday with the lawn mower
to pick them up.
The recycle guys came by as I was most of the way done.
I had 5 trash cans at that point.
So that is done for another year.
It was not too bad.
I just did 50 pushups.
Wow, am I out of shape.
Last night I went to a casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
My Mom wanted to go, so I took her.
I don't like casinos.
I lost $65 ---
even with my lucky watch.
That is why I don't want to go.
And it is no fun.
It is boring.
You could call this the road less traveled.
I took a wrong turn on Friday, November 4 on the way
up to the Eldora Ski Resort.
It was a very bumpy rough road.
5 MPH at top.
I was very close to Eldora,
but I was not going to get there from here.
I needed my nephew navigator with me.
I retraced my route and I had missed this huge sign
to turn to the left for Eldora.
I did see the sign, but I did not know what it said.
I was looking around in the car for something
instead of paying attention to the signs.
I was like Mr. Jones in my story.
We do need others to help us find our way.
I was just reading
19 Ways to Encourage Others
by Stacy Wiebe.
All kinds of wonderful thoughts.
"Encourage one another daily
while it is still today..."
Hebrews 3:13
Be a blessing in someone's life today.
Call them up.
Go visit them.
Write them a note.
Send them an email.
Give them a word of encouragement.
May the Lord be with you.
(November 18, 2005 Fri 6:21 AM CST)
(Update at 9:42 AM:
Happy Birthday, Becky.
Have you ever seen this?
I just watched it.
I have seen it before on June 30, 2001 and
November 16, 2003.
It is very inspiring.
I love the background music.
It reminds me of music on web sites in memory of September 11th.
Someone in my Bible Study sent it to me last night.
An Interview with God
)
Yesterday driving east on West Dodge Road at 7:03 AM
I saw a
sun pillar
.
It is a column of orange/pink light directly above the sun
just before sunrise.
It is caused by ice crystals in the air.
Last night we had our Bible Study by way of telephone.
It was a first for me.
It was a Bible Study conference call for over 2 hours.
One of the things we discussed is how to start your day.
I like the idea of saying a Bible verse like:
"This is the day the Lord has made;
let us be glad and rejoice in it."
Psalm 118:24
You write this on a 4 by 6 card
(which I just did)
and keep it near your bed
to remind you to say it when you awake.
Then say some little prayer like:
"Jesus, thank you for another day.
Be with me today.
Bless my day.
Guild me.
Teach me more about you.
May I help others that I meet today.
I am tired and I don't want to get up.
Give me the strength I need for today."
Some little spontaneous prayer.
You just talk to the Lord.
This is funny.
That song by Sara that I don't like (Cheatin')
kept playing over and over in my mind
when I was in the shower this morning.
I do not like that song.
This is more funny.
The CD player just went crazy (6:34 AM),
so I guess no more Bach organ music this morning.
It made all these noises and just quit playing.
It did that a few days ago also.
It is flashing the letters "nd" on the display.
No disc? No dice?
Strange.
Very strange.
I guess it's time to go to church
at Boys Town Dowd Chapel and pray.
Bye.
(November 17, 2005 Thu 6:16 AM CST)
Last night I walked from downtown to the Siena/Francis House.
Yes, look up.
I missed the northbound number 4 bus by a minute.
SFH has a picture on their TV now.
Channel 3 had a controversial story about them
on the news I'm told.
I helped write Thank You notes.
So far I have watched an hour of the CMA Awards.
I'm even watching the commercials since some
of the singers are in them.
That Sara Evans sang some sad country song about cheatin'.
She should have sung the song that I like "supernatural"
off her new CD.
Sara.
And Rascal Flatts was kind of flat.
They did not look/sound too excited to be in New York City.
I kept "voting" for them, but they have not won anything so far
that I have seen.
The other day I calculated the mileage on my Colorado trip.
I went 1511.5 miles roundtrip and got 27.8 MPG.
It is 534.5 miles from my cousin's house to my house.
At work in our building yesterday they had Thanksgiving Dinner.
Our cafeteria had turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, etc.
So I got that over with.
At Von Maur at the Westroads Mall Santa Claus
is way way up over the piano player now.
You have to take a look when you are there.
You have to look up or you don't see him.
I don't think they will let me take a picture of it.
"No sooner had Jesus said this
then he was lifted up before their eyes
in a cloud which took him from their sight.
They were still gazing up into the heavens
when two men dressed in white stood beside them.
'Men of Galilee,' they said,
'why do you stand here looking up at the skies?
This Jesus who has been taken from you will return,
just as you saw him go up into the heavens.'"
Acts 1:9-11
See what the Lord has in store for you.
He is a loving God that wants the best for you.
Open your eyes and see.
The Lord is good.
He has many surprises for you.
(November 16, 2005 Wed 6:20 AM CST)
Last night I opened this package from August 29th, 2004.
"Six days later,
Jesus was God.
It has been sitting around my house that long.
I bought it at the Pottery Barn in Regency Court
in Omaha from someone named Marva.
I remember it was a Sunday and I had
the Boys Town bulletin in my pocket
after walking at the Westroads Mall.
I remember getting a cell phone call from my Mom
when I was there looking at things.
It is the
PAPERWHITE fragrance diffuser
.
It says that it will last for 2 months.
It is very expensive $32 as you would expect in Regency.
Jesus took Peter, James and John
off by themselves with him and
he led them up a high mountain.
Jesus was transfigured before their eyes
and his clothes became dazzlingly white ---
whiter that the work of any bleacher could make them."
Mark 9:2-3
He showed who he was to the apostles.
They believed he was divine.
These apostles died for what they believed.
Jesus was bright.
He dazzled people.
Take a walk with Jesus.
Come away to the mountain.
See who he is.
He is God.
He is the Lord.
(November 15, 2005 Tue 6:09 AM CST)
It's a rainy cold dark morning here in River City (Omaha).
The forecast says there is a 100% chance of snow.
Yeah!
I like snow.
If you like country music,
the CMA Awards program is on CBS tonight at 7:00 PM.
I programmed the VCR to record it.
That way I can skip over all the commercials
when I watch it.
The other night a big branch was blown down in my backyard.
It has been windy in Omaha lately.
When I got home last night it was gone.
My neighbor said the OPPD people where trimming trees
and bushes in my backyard and put my branch
in their machine to chop it up.
My neighbor suggested that to them.
What a coincidence she said.
God is good to me.
Took care of that.
Now if he would just blow all the leaves away
in the backyard.
That would be nice.
I saw the flowers again at my Mom's house.
I gave her the flowers off my kitchen table the other day.
Wow, they are still awesome.
At work people are moving off our floor to another building.
It is sad.
I probably won't see them again for many months.
My group will move next month back to the building where we were.
Last night I dropped off the Christmas gifts
at that house south of Burke High School.
I got to meet the family and big black dog.
One of the kids was holding the dog by the collar
with both hands.
I told them about my backyard surprise
just minutes before that.
There was a possum on the west chain link fence in the dark
that scared me.
It had a white face and dark body.
That was too much for me.
I guess they are harmless.
At Cathedral on Sunday they were selling honey to raise
money for the Arc of Omaha and Madonna School.
There are warning labels on the bottle that say:
Do not feed honey to infants under one year.
A little trivia I ran across last year.
Bye...time to go pray.
(November 14, 2005 Mon 6:22 AM CST)
I see the word "snow" in the forecast
"I know your deeds;
Choose the Lord.
for tomorrow for Omaha.
Of course, I was already through a snowstorm on
the evening of October 30th in the Rocky Mountains,
so the snow at 1,000 feet elevation should be
no big deal.
I have gained 10 pounds in the last 2 weeks.
It all started with those cookies in Estes Park, Colorado.
Now I need to go buy some new jeans again.
The ones I have on are very tight this morning.
Or I could just skip eating for a day once a week
until my clothes loosen up.
What am I listening to this morning?
The Animals.
It is an old song from the 1960's.
I just downloaded it from iTunes.
It starts with these words:
"It's a hard world to get a break in
All the good things have been taken..."
I printed the lyrics.
That new printer shakes the table back and forth.
Also, I'm listening to
"Cold" by Crossfade.
I downloaded that song a few weeks ago.
I know you are neither hot nor cold.
How I wish you were one or the other ---
hot or cold!"
Revelation 3:15
Follow his ways.
Choose the warmth of the sun.
Have a heart burning for the Lord.
(November 13, 2005 Sun 6:36 AM CST)
(Update at 8:27 PM:
One thing I forgot to tell you about Woodbine, Iowa
Encourage those near you to greatness.
Here is another picture west of Boulder, Colorado
on Highway 119.
This is the Barker Meadow Reservoir at Nederland, Colorado
taken on Friday, November 4th.
The city of Nederland is to the right in the photo.
)
was the cars that waited for the funeral procession
to pass by them.
In Omaha the drivers have no respect for
a funeral procession, but there in Woodbine
there was almost a reverence for what was happening
as we drove the short distance to the cemetery through town.
Yesterday was another NCD (No Car Day).
My Mom told me Friday that someone must have dropped me
on my head when I was young.
You think of all the money I make each year
and I walk to the Westroads Mall.
It is kind of strange I must admit.
It was an extremely windy day and warm 70 F degrees.
I did not need a jacket.
I did some Christmas shopping for a project at
SRB
.
They "adopt" many families for Christmas.
I have to buy gifts for an 11 year-old boy of one
of the families and then drop them off at someone's house
on 123rd Street just south of Burke High School.
On the way home I caught the 3:15 PM bus that
gets me within 6 blocks of my house.
I waited a half hour for the bus to come.
That saved some time and energy getting back home.
What am I listening to?
It's just Bach again and his organ music.
I think I am addicted to it now.
What would a morning be without Bach?
That program of
Joel Osteen
I told you about back on October 19th
is now available online.
It is program "#282- Bringing Out the Best in People."
Click on the above link and then "WATCH ONLINE" on the left.
Fast forward to 30:00 to hear the TV program message.
I repeat his Bible verse from that program.
"Love builds up and
encourages one to grow
to her/his full stature."
1 Corinthians 8:1
Bring out the best in those you love.
Bring out the best in your friends.
Believe in them.
Believe they can do amazing and wonderful things.
At 47:06 Joel says,
"My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me."
Be a friend.
Be an encouragement.
(November 12, 2005 Sat 7:33 AM CST)
Yesterday I bought a new printer from Wal-Mart on
This Bible verse was read at the funeral yesterday at the
The Lord is your strength.
Interstate 680 and Irvington exit.
It is an
HP PSC 1410v
.
I am testing it out now printing 15
8 by 10 pictures of Vail, Colorado from October 30th.
So far it looks like it is working fine.
I'm not sure what to do with my old printer.
I could take it to work to print black and white
things like email.
One thing about this new printer is that it
shakes the table back and forth.
I'm trying to type and the words are moving
back and forth.
The 15 prints look good.
I am back in business printing pictures.
It is warm outside this morning (61 F degrees) and
you can hear thunder.
My leaves are just about all down now from my 3 maple trees.
I cleaned up the front yard yesterday with
the leaf blower.
That was fun.
You blow the leaves to the front sidewalk and
then bag them.
I had 5 trash cans and 12 bags of leaves.
My neighbor helped to.
I will just run over the leaves in the backyard
and munch them up.
I did make it to Woodbine, Iowa yesterday.
Here are some pictures.
The first one is on the west side of Woodbine.
You can see the harvest is in.
Next is the view of the town from the top of the hill
in the cemetery.
It was 70 F degrees at about 2:00 PM.
My car was all covered with dust from the unpaved roads.
One thing I will never forget is these deep red roses
they were passing out to the family members
just 20 minutes or so before this picture was taken
after the prayers were said at the grave site.
Next is a gas station just south
of Woodbine on highway 30.
I pulled off to the side of the road to take this.
I think someone was playing a joke on everyone driving by.
Methodist church in Woodbine.
In fact the woman minister/pastor read it twice.
"They that hope in the Lord will renew their strength,
they will soar as with eagles' wings;
They will run and not grow weary,
walk and not grow faint."
Isaiah 40:31
Turn to him.
He will lift you up when you are down.
He will carry you when you are weary.
Hope in him.
Trust in him.
(November 11, 2005 Fri 6:17 AM CST)
I just put a Thank You note on the doorstep of my neighbor.
"I trust in the Lord;
I put my trust in the Lord.
You could not ask for a better neighbor.
She is wonderful.
Please, pray for my aunt in Ohio that has been sick lately.
Today I'm planning on going to a funeral
in Woodbine, Iowa at 1 PM.
Pray for that family also.
Thanks.
www.mapquest.com says that Woodbine, Iowa
is 48.40 miles from my house.
Here is a picture of the Eldora Ski Resort from last Friday.
Not much snow yet.
The guy on the ATV was driving left to right
and shows up twice in the picture(s).
This is 5 merged pictures.
At the Bible Study last night we talked about a lot of things.
One thing that I need to work on is a reverence for God.
Yep, I do.
Yes, he is my best friend, but he is also God.
He is holy.
He wants me to be holy.
I should have a great respect for the Lord.
I should be in awe.
He did make the whole universe.
He holds everything (like me) in existence.
I treat him just like anyone else that I know.
He is not just like anyone else.
Yes, I need to work on that.
my soul trusts in his word."
Psalm 130:5
He is God.
He is my hope.
He deserves all my love and attention.
I put my soul into his hands.
His words are life to me.
(November 10, 2005 Thu 6:33 AM CST)
The other day I checked Post Office Box 261
Yes.
downtown at 17th and Farnam in Omaha.
Zip.
No one wrote to Spring To Life after 3 advertisements.
Nope.
Nobody.
Last year I think I got 3 letters in response.
I'm not sure what I did or did not do.
Maybe there are that many more people on the Internet
reading Spring To Life this year.
This is a Bible verse on a plaque in my kitchen.
It has been there since about 1981
when I first moved in this house.
Here let me take a picture of it.
This is on the east wall by the refrigerator.
I told the person last night at the bus stop about it.
She was the one that gave it to me.
She does not even remember it.
I told her that I would take a picture and show her.
It is still there.
"The Lord reigneth:
Let the earth rejoice."
Psalm 97:1
The Lord is in control.
You have nothing to worry about.
Be glad and rejoice.
He will take care of you today.
Give all your problems to him.
Amen.
Even 24 years later!
It is still true.
These are eternal words.
Treasure them.
Hold on to them.
Frame them.
Believe them.

(Update at 9:09 PM:
Wow, I am moving slow this morning.
"O Lord, you have probed me and you know me;
The Lord knows all about you.
Here is a picture from Friday of a lake near
the Eldora Ski Resort west of Boulder, Colorado.
I bought a brand new color ink cartridge $35 at
Wal-Mart on 132nd and L Street tonight.
The problem is my printer.
Yikes!
My printer is broke.
The ink cartridge was not the problem.
Now what do I do?
Buy a new printer?
)
I'm looking for a poem titled:
"I Said a Prayer for You Today"
by Frank J. Zamboni.
It is all over the Internet says a quick Google search.
My Mom gave me a greeting card
with this poem on it yesterday morning
and I delivered it to someone else.
Just a few weeks ago I put a plaque on the wall
in my kitchen with the same poem.
It was given to me.
I guess I needed to read it again.
you know when I sit and when I stand;
you understand my thoughts from afar.
My journeys and my rest you scrutinize,
with all my ways you are familiar.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know the whole of it.
Behind me and before, you hem me in
and rest your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
too lofty for me to attain."
Psalm 139:1-6
He loves you very much.
He is watching over you and your family.
Trust in the Lord.
He cares about you.
(November 8, 2005 Tue 6:07 AM CST)
I got the ink cartridge refilled,
Jesus does not think like us.
but it is still not working right.
I guess I need to buy a brand new ink cartridge.
Well, let me test it again this morning.
I'm trying to print picture 122 of my Colorado trip
as an 8 by 10 image.
I tried 3 times and it just does not work.
I need to go get my money back $18.73.
I will use that to buy a new cartridge $37.
I think I am allergic to the flowers from last night,
so I will have to give them away today.
"Jesus raised his eyes to his disciples and said,
'Blest are you poor;
the reign of God is yours.
Blest are you who hunger;
you shall be filled.
Blest are you who are weeping;
you shall laugh.'"
Luke 6:20-21
He says the poor are blest.
We think the poor are in bad shape.
He says those that lack food are blest.
We think too bad for them.
He says those in sorrow will laugh one day.
We think the pain will never go away.
(November 7, 2005 Mon 6:21 AM CST)
(Update at 8:17 PM:
You look outside this morning and you can't tell
"Then Jesus looked at the man with love and told him,
You better check yourself.
Here is a picture of some flowers I just bought.
I'm listening to "Amy's Back in Austin" by Little Texas
and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon & Garfunkel.
Here is a picture of highway 119 west of Boulder, Colorado
on the way up to the
Eldora Ski Resort

)
that I spent 2 or 3 hours raking/attacking
the leaves yesterday.
They are coming down little by little.
I was at the
Cathedral
last night.
I was subbing for someone that I traded with
the week before since I was out of town.
It was interesting to look at the place that
has been there for about 100 years
and think of where I just was in Denver.
We are here and they are there.
But of course they have the Rocky Mountains
and we do not.
The sunsets over the mountains are spectacular.
I tell people that Omaha needs a mountain,
but people just laugh at me.
Seattle has
Mount Rainier
on the south horizon.
I read a week of newspapers yesterday.
On
November 2nd Omaha
set a record high of 82 F degrees.
Denver did not set a record that day.
They had 75 and the record is 78.
It does not even feel like November.
I'm trying to print a color copy of a photograph
on the
pastor of MOQ
in Omaha from
many years ago (maybe 1980).
It is not printing correctly, so I will have to take
the print cartridge in again.
How many times has it been?
I'd like to run outside and two doors down and
catch the 82X bus to downtown, but I'm not in Arvada.
I can't do that here in Omaha.
'There is one thing more you must do.
Go and sell what you have and give to the poor;
you will then have treasure in heaven.
After that, come and follow me.'
At these words the man's face fell.
He went away sad, for he had many possessions.
Jesus looked around and said to his disciples,
'How hard it is for the rich
to enter the kingdom of God!'"
Mark 10:20-23
How do you look at money?
If you treasure money,
you will walk away from Jesus.
You will be sad.
Choose Jesus.
Hold on to him tight.
Do not walk away.
Help the poor.
St. Francis
did that.
He gave everything he had away.
(November 6, 2005 Sun 7:12 AM CST)
I'm back home.
As it said in a previous picture of the Vail Chapel...
Today is Sunday.
Home sweet home.
There's no place like home...
There's no place like home...
I did meet "Dorothy and Toto" at a Halloween party on
Saturday, October 29th in Highlands Ranch, Colorado
that evening.
The cave man and woman were great...
a new line of clothing is born.
A bone was tied in the cave woman's hair...
I wonder if that will catch on?
Martha Stewart was there in her prison clothes
and GPS security ankle bracelet.
The funniest thing was when the wicked witch of the west
stole Toto... oh my... you had to be there!
I have not laughed that much in a long time!
Even this morning I am laughing... it was hilarious...
That party was so much fun!
The Bach organ CD music is playing.
I just swept up the leaves in my driveway.
I filled up two garbage cans.
They are heavy.
I did not want to use the rake and make too much noise
and wake up the neighbors.
I just uploaded some more pictures to show you.
This one is the Taffy Shop in Estes Park, Colorado
on Saturday, October 29th.
I bought a small box of taffy there for $9.00.
I told the woman behind the counter to mix them
up with all the different flavors.
I also bought a dozen cookies up the street from there.
They cost $24.
I should have asked first what the price was...
$2 each.
I ate those cookies all week for snacks
while driving around the mountains.
The next picture is the church where my Cousin goes
at "3501 W. 104th Avenue Westminster, CO 80031-2221."
We went there on Sunday, October 30th.
I filled out a visitor card and
I have a letter from them here at the house.
I still have not got to my snail mail yet from being gone.
I told my Cousin that TC has better music than his church.
I just opened the letter dated October 31, 2005.
The pastor says...
"The Lord has great days ahead for you (
Proverbs 3:5-6
)!"
Sounds good to me.
Next is a picture of the trail in Vail...
(I am so funny!)
It runs through the town.
I was there on Sunday, October 30th in the afternoon.
Next is the plaque outside the Vail Interfaith Chapel.
And a previous picture of the Chapel I showed you.
The plaque is under the light on the wall on the right.
Next is also in Vail.
I checked out what was happening at the hockey arena.
The kids were practicing and the parents were watching.
The next picture is my car parked in Arvada, Colorado
at my Cousin's house on Monday, October 31st.
The leaves were frozen to the car that morning.
You can see the imprints of frozen leaves on the back window.
It has a flat tire that I had fixed later that day
at the Sears at Westminster Mall for $18.
The car was unbelievably dirty from all the salt and sand
of the snowstorms on Interstate 70 the day before
on both sides of the Eisenhower Tunnel.
"I will bless the Lord at all times;
God's praise shall continually be in my mouth."
Psalm 34:1
It is the Lord's Day.
Go and praise him today.
Use your mouth to thank him.
Bless the name of Jesus.
Praise the Lord!
(November 3, 2005 Thu 6:23 AM MST)
When we got home last night we discovered that
Yesterday I went to lunch in downtown Denver
I have to ask myself this morning the question:
the neighbor to the south of us had raked the leaves
of this little tree next to our driveway.
God bless them!
They did not have to do that.
Pray for my cousin and his girlfriend.
Both of them have a left arm that is hurting
and needs to be healed.
at the Republic Plaza Food Court on the 16th Street Mall.
My cousin went and one other person that sits near me.
My cousin received a Chinese fortune.
I read it and told the both of them that
it was a verse in the Bible.
I don't think they believed me.
I saved the little piece of paper in my billfold.
This is that verse.
"For where your treasure is,
there will your heart be also."
Matthew 6:21
where is my treasure?
Is my treasure all the money $$$ I made
on Monday in the Stock Market?
Is that what I treasure?
Is it my family and friends about 550 miles away?
Is that what is important to me?
Is it my faith in God?
I hope so, but there are so many "distractions."
Please, pray for me.
(November 2, 2005 Wed 6:25 AM MST)
Good morning from Arvada, Colorado.
I'm here staying with my cousin.
We both ride the bus back and forth to work
in downtown Denver each day.
We can catch the bus two houses down the street to the south.
Here is a picture of the building I am working in.
It is the building on the right.
I bought a blue long sleeve Qwest shirt
at the building on the right on Monday.
There is a Qwest store on the first floor open to the public.
We both work on the 13th floor.
Here is something you would see if you visited that floor.
It is a flying fish near Lyn's cube.
I asked Lyn about the origin of the flying fish
and she says they were there before she came to the floor.
She thinks they came from Seattle.
There are 3 or 4 (there are 4) of the flying fish of different
shapes and colors.
So much has happened since I last wrote to you.
I don't know where to start!
How about a few pictures of Vail, Colorado from Sunday afternoon?
The first one I call a postcard picture.
Very beautiful.
Ignore the construction crane in the background.
Here is the Interfaith Chapel.
I attended the Catholic Mass at 4:00 PM.
I did not know the schedule ahead of time.
It just worked out that way.
Different faiths have services at different times.
They all share this chapel.
Cool!
It was very hard to concentrate on the service.
The setting is just so awesome.
The snow was falling softly off and on.
I could look out the large windows to my left
and see the creek in the previous picture.
Wonderful distractions.
Here is a panorama of the ski slopes.
The snow is not deep enough.
I need to pay Panorama Factory for the software
to create this panorama.
I really like the version number 3.3.
Next is a picture of Lake Dillon from Interstate 70.
It was an awesome setting with the sun breaking through the clouds.
I stopped at Estes Park on Saturday.
This is Lake Estes on beautiful fall afternoon.
I also stopped in Loveland on Saturday and
took these two pictures of Lake Loveland along Highway 34.
The next two pictures are from Saturday along Highway 36
south of Estes Park on the way to Boulder somewhere.
On Monday my 401K account increased by 6.34%.
That stock I told you about has gone up 8 of 10 times now
in 2005 on the last trading day of the month.
80%... almost a sure thing...
What can you say?
I told other people about it and
for various reasons they did not get the 6.34%.
I could not believe it.
My cousin says it is time to go to work.
Bye.
