"Suddenly, without warning,
How we need peace in this world.
Jesus stood before them and said,
'Peace!'
The women be came up and embraced his feet
and did him homage.
At this Jesus said to them,

Go and carry the news to my brothers
that they are to go to Galilee
where they will see me.'"

While you have the light,
keep faith in the light;
thus you will become sons of light."

It takes faith.
a centurion approached him with this request:
'Sir, my serving boy is at home in bed
paralyzed, suffering painfully.'
He said to him,
'I will come and cure him.'
'Sir,' the centurion said in reply,
'I am not worthy to have you under my roof.
Just give an order and my boy will get better.'"

Don't laugh at Jesus.
he permitted no one to enter with him
except Peter, John, James, and the child's parents.
While everyone wept and lamented her, he said,
'Stop crying for she is not dead but asleep.'
They laughed at him, being certain she was dead.
He took her by the hand and spoke these words:
'Get up, child.'
The breath of life returned to her
and she got up immediately;
whereupon he told them to give her something to eat.
Her parents were astounded,
but he ordered them not to tell
anyone what had happened."

that God may provide us with an opening
to proclaim the mystery of Christ,
for which I am a prisoner.
Pray that I may speak it clearly, as I must.
Be prudent in dealing with outsiders;
make the most of every opportunity.
Let your speech be always gracious
and in good taste,
and strive to respond properly
to all who address you."
Colossians 4:2-6

the chief priests, and the scribes,
be put to death, and rise three days later.
He said these things quite openly."

He knew what he was doing.
He did it because of his great love for us.

"At the first hearing of my case in court,
Paul was all alone.
no one took my part.
In fact, everyone abandoned me.
May it not be held against them!
But the Lord stood by my side
and gave me strength,
so that through me
the preaching task might be completed
and all the nations
might hear the gospel."

"You know that while all the runners in the stadium
Look to Jesus.
take part in the race,
the award goes to one man.
In that case, run so as to win!
Athletes deny themselves all sorts of things.
They do this to win a crown of leaves that withers,
but we a crown that is imperishable.
I do not run like a man
who loses sight of the finish line."
1 Corinthians 9:24-25
Your goal is heaven.
Keep him in sight.
Stay close to him.
(May 10, 2006 Wed 6:17 AM CDT)
"During the night before Herod
The Lord will send his angel to you.
was to bring him to trial,
Peter was sleeping between two soldiers,
fastened with double chains,
while guards kept watch at the door.
Suddenly an angel of the Lord stood nearby
and light shone in the cell.
He tapped Peter on the side and woke him,
'Hurry, get up!' he said.
With that, the chains dropped from Peter's wrists.
The angel said, 'Put on your belt and sandals!'
This he did.
Then the angel told him,
'Now put on your cloak and follow me.'
Peter followed him out,
but with no clear realization
that this was taking place
through the angel's help.
The whole thing seemed to him a mirage.
They passed the first guard, then the second,
and finally came to the iron gate
leading out to the city,
which opened for them of itself.
They emerged and made their way down a narrow alley,
when suddenly the angel left him.
Peter had recovered his senses by this time,
and said, 'Now I know for certain that the Lord
has sent his angel to rescue me from Herod's clutches
and from all that the Jews hoped for.'"
Acts 12:6-11
He will wake you up.
He will rescue you.
Trust in the Lord.
He can do more than you can imagine.
Recover your senses.
(May 9, 2006 Tue 6:15 AM CDT)
"Zacchaeus first ran on in front,
Take a close look at Jesus.
then climbed a sycamore tree
which was along Jesus' route,
in order to see him.
When Jesus came to the spot
he looked up and said,
'Zacchaeus, hurry down.
I mean to stay at your house today.'
He quickly descended,
and welcomed him with delight.
When this was observed,
everyone began to murmur,
'He has gone to a sinner's house
as a guest.'
Zaccheaus stood his ground
and said to the Lord:
'I give half my belongings, Lord,
to the poor.
If I have defrauded anyone in the least,
I pay him back four-fold.'
Jesus said to him:
'Today salvation has come to this house,
for this is what it means
to be a son of Abraham.
The Son of Man has come to search out
and save what was lost.'"
Luke 19:4-10
He is coming your way.
Invite him to your house.
He will come and stay with you.

(May 7, 2006 Sun 8:28 AM CDT)
"What is it that he does say?
You are very close to the kingdom of God.
'The word is near you,
on your lips and in your heart'
(that is, the word of faith which we preach).
For if you confess with your lips
that Jesus is Lord,
and believe in your heart
that God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved.
Faith in the heart leads to justification,
confession on the lips to salvation."
Romans 10:8-10
Tell Jesus that you believe in him.
Ask him for the forgiveness of your sins.
He is very near.
He will touch your heart.
He will change your life.
Jesus, I believe in you.
Come into my heart.
Change me, Lord.
(May 6, 2006 Sat 9:21 AM CDT)
Here is something else from our Bible Study.
"The next day John was there again
What are you looking for?
with two of his disciples.
As he watched Jesus walk by he said,
'Look! There is the Lamb of God!'
The two disciples heard what he said,
and followed Jesus.
When Jesus turned around
and noticed them following him,
he asked them,
'What are you looking for?'
They said to him,
'Rabbi (which means Teacher),
where do you stay?'
'Come and see,' he answered.
So they went to see where he was lodged,
and stayed with him that day.
(It was about four in the afternoon.)"
John 1:35-39
Ask yourself this question.
Jesus asks what you are searching for.
It tells a lot about you.
It is revealing.
Jesus gives you an invitation.
Draw near to him.
Come and see.
Stay with him for awhile.
(May 5, 2006 Fri 6:19 AM CDT)
Last night in the Bible Study
"We keep thanking God for all of you
I'm praying for you this morning.
we talked about this Bible verse.
and we remember you in our prayers,
for we constantly are mindful
before our God and Father
of the way you are proving your faith,
and laboring in love,
and showing constancy of hope
in our Lord Jesus Christ.
We know, too, brothers and sisters beloved of God,
how you were chosen."

You are chosen by God.
Jesus is your hope.
I thank the Lord for your faith that is growing.
We give praise to God.
(May 4, 2006 Thu 6:15 AM CDT)
"This means that you are strangers and
Jesus is your friend.
aliens no longer.
No, you are fellow citizens of the saints
and members of the household of God.
You form a building
which rises on the foundation
of the apostles and prophets,
with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone.
Through him the whole structure
is fitted together and takes shape
as a holy temple in the Lord;
in him you are being built
into this temple, to become
a dwelling place for God in the Spirit."
Ephesians 2:19-22
He is on your side.
He is your foundation.
Build your life on him.
Be part of the beautiful structure.
(May 3, 2006 Wed 6:20 AM CDT)
Peter said:
Ask Jesus to forgive your sins.
"Therefore, reform your lives!
Turn to God,
that your sins may be wiped away!
Thus may a season of refreshment
be granted you by the Lord
when he sends you Jesus,
already designated as your Messiah."
Acts 3:19-20
Turn toward God.
He will grant you a season of refreshment.
He is new life every morning.

Jesus told a parable about a rich man and Lazarus:
The rich man was on one side and Lazarus
"Between you and us
there is fixed a great abyss,
so that those who might wish to cross
from here to you cannot do so,
nor can anyone cross from your side to us."
Luke 16:26
was on the other side.
It is a reference to heaven and hell.
We choose to be with God or not.
Call on the mercy of God.
Jesus is the one that can save you.
Jesus, save me.
