Something new every day
The Lord loves you very much

God is your strength

Love the Lord

Time is short

Find Jesus find life

(June 30, 2006 Fri 7:39 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"I solemnly assure you,
the person who has faith in me
will do the works I do,
and greater far than these.
Why? Because I go to the Father,
and whatever you ask in my name I will do,
so as to glorify the Father in the Son.
Anything you ask me in my name I will do."
John 14:12-14

Jesus, we ask today in your name
that many people will come to believe in you.
We give glory to you.
We praise you, Lord.

(June 29, 2006 Thu 6:14 AM CDT)

Jesus told a parable of the prodigal son.
It starts on verse 11 of Luke 15.
This is how it ends:
"My son," replied the father,
"you are with me always,
and everything I have is yours.
But we had to celebrate and rejoice!
This brother of yours was dead,
and has come back to life.
He was lost and is found."
Luke 15:31-32

Are you lost?
Are you lifeless?
Find Jesus.
Find life.
Celebrate and rejoice.

(June 28, 2006 Wed 6:13 AM CDT)

"Jesus continued his tour of all the towns and villages.
He taught in their synagogues,
he proclaimed the good news of God's reign,
and cured every sickness and disease.
At the sight of the crowds,
his heart was moved with pity.
They were lying prostrate from exhaustion,
like sheep without a shepherd.
He said to his disciples:
'The harvest is good but laborers are scarce.
Beg the harvest master to send out laborers
to gather his harvest.'"
Matthew 9:35-38

There are many people who don't know Jesus.
We must share with them the good news.
Jesus sees them.
His most holy heart is moved with pity.
Be a laborer.

(June 27, 2006 Tue 6:10 AM CDT)

"I call upon you,
for you will answer me, O God,
incline your ear to me;
hear my word.
Show your wondrous kindness..."
Psalms 17:6-7

Call on the name of Jesus.
He will hear you.
He will answer your prayer.
He is most kind.
He is wonderful.

(June 26, 2006 Mon 6:08 AM CDT)

"But now Christ has appeared at the end of the ages
to take away sins once for all by his sacrifice.
Just as it is appointed that men die once,
and after death be judged,
so Christ was offered up once
to take away the sins of many;
he will appear a second time
not to take away sin but to bring salvation
to those who eagerly await him."
Hebrews 9:26-28

Ask Jesus to forgive your sins.
He is full of mercy and compassion.
Look forward to his coming again.
Be ready at any moment to welcome him back.
Jesus, forgive my sins.
Come, Lord Jesus.

(June 25, 2006 Sun 6:13 AM CDT)

Yesterday I listened to a sermon (June 18, 2006) from
Cambridge, MA .
Dave talked about intercessory prayer.

"At every opportunity pray in the Spirit,
using prayers and petitions of every sort.
Pray constantly and attentively
for all in the holy company."
Ephesians 6:18-19

Prayer is important.
Prayer changes things.
Pray for those around you.
Intercede for them.

(June 24, 2006 Sat 8:13 AM CDT)

It's raining in Omaha this morning.
We are way behind in our rainfall this year.
The newspaper says we have received 9.96 inches of rain
so far this year and we should be at 14.12 inches.
Thank the Lord.

"He will strengthen you to the end,
so that you will be blameless
on the day of the Lord Jesus Christ.
God is faithful,
and it was he who called you to fellowship
with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."
1 Corinthians 1:8-9

The Lord has called you.
He will strengthen you each day.
Be strong in the Lord.
He is faithful.
Have fellowship with him.
Ask him to make you holy.

(June 23, 2006 Fri 6:52 AM CDT)

Then the devil took Jesus up higher
and showed him all the kingdoms
of the world in a single instant.
The devil said to him,
"I will give you all this power and
the glory of these kingdoms;
the power has been given to me
and I give it to whomever I wish.
Prostrate yourself in homage before me
and it shall all be yours."
In reply, Jesus said to him,
"Scripture has it,
'You shall do homage to the Lord your God;
him alone shall you adore.'"
Luke 4:5-8

The devil will tempt you to do evil.
Don't listen to him.
Recall the words of the Bible.
The truth is there.
Call on Jesus for help.
He will defend you.

(June 22, 2006 Thu 6:10 AM CDT)

"This is what we proclaim to you:
what was from the beginning,
what we have heard,
what we have seen with our eyes,
what we have looked upon
and our hands have touched ---
we speak of the word of life."
1 John 1:1

God is there in your midst.
He is alive.
He is active.
He moves people.
He changes lives.
Open your eyes and see the Lord.
He will touch your life.

(June 21, 2006 Wed 6:11 AM CDT)

"May God the Father
and the Lord Jesus Christ
grant the brothers and sisters
peace and love and faith.
Grace be with all
who love our Lord Jesus Christ
with unfailing love."
Ephesians 6:23-24

God grant you peace today.
May you love the Lord more and more.
May your faith in Jesus increase.
God never fails.
Have faith.

(June 20, 2006 Tue 6:16 AM CDT)

"What is it he does say?
'The word is near you,
on your lips and in your heart.'"
Romans 10:8

Read the Bible.
Let it sink in.
Think about the words of the Lord.
Let it touch your heart.

(June 19, 2006 Mon 6:08 AM CDT)

"On one occasion, while they were engaged
in the liturgy of the Lord and were fasting,
the Holy Spirit spoke to them:
'Set apart Barnabas and Saul for me
to do the work for which
I have called them.'
Then, after they had fasted and prayed,
they imposed hands on them
and sent them off."
Acts 13:2-3

Participate in the liturgy of the Lord.
Fast and pray.
Listen to the Holy Spirit.
Go where the Lord sends you.

(June 18, 2006 Sun 8:17 AM CDT)

"After that, Jesus realizing that
everything was now finished,
said to fulfill the Scripture,
'I am thirsty.'
There was a jar there,
full of common wine.
They stuck a sponge soaked in this wine
on some hyssop and raised it to his lips.
When Jesus took the wine, he said,
'Now it is finished.'
Then he bowed his head,
and delivered over his spirit."
John 19:28-30

Jesus suffered for us.
He died for us.
He gave his live for us.
Receive this new life that he gives to you.

(June 17, 2006 Sat 8:55 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"I solemnly assure you,
history has not known a man born of woman
greater than John the Baptizer.
Yet the least born into the kingdom of God
is greater than he."
Matthew 11:11

You must be born again.
You need to be born from above.
Enter the kingdom of God.
Rejoice in knowing Jesus.
Give your heart to him.

(June 16, 2006 Fri 6:42 AM CDT)

"The Lord is my light and my salvation
whom should I fear?
The Lord is my life's refuge;
of whom should I be afraid?"
Psalms 27:1

There is nothing to fear.
The Lord is your protection.
Call on the name of Jesus.
He is the light.
Pray to him.

(June 15, 2006 Thu 6:16 AM CDT)

"Therefore do not be perturbed;
remain calm so that you will be able to pray.
Above all, let your love for one another be constant,
for love covers a multitude of sins.
Be mutually hospitable without complaining.
As generous distributors of God's manifold grace,
put your gifts at the service of one another,
each in the measure you have received."
1 Peter 4:7-10

Stay calm.
Pray.
Be hospitable.
Don't complain.
Share your gifts.
Share the grace.

(June 14, 2006 Wed 6:16 AM CDT)

"Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ
and brother of James,
to those who have been called by God;
who have found love in God the Father
and have been guarded safely in Jesus Christ.
May mercy, peace, and love be yours
in ever greater measure."
Jude 1:1-2

The Lord calls you.
Jesus loves you.
He keeps you safe.
He gives you mercy and peace.
Thank the Lord for his great love.

(June 13, 2006 Tue 6:19 AM CDT)

"We know, too, brothers and sisters beloved of God,
how you were chosen.
Our preaching of the gospel
proved not a mere matter of words for you
but one of power;
it was carried on in the Holy Spirit
out of complete conviction."
1 Thessalonians 1:4-5

You are chosen by God.
You are very special to him.
The Holy Spirit gives you power.
It is more than words.

(June 12, 2006 Mon 6:17 AM CDT)

"Brothers and sisters,
I should like you to know of the grace of God
conferred on the churches of Macedonia.
In the midst of severe trial
their overflowing joy and deep poverty
have produced an abundant generosity."
2 Corinthians 8:1-2

The Lord has done great things for you.
Be generous.
Be of service.
The grace of God is with you.

(June 11, 2006 Sun 8:29 AM CDT)

"Once, on being asked by the Pharisees
when the reign of God would come, Jesus replied:
'You cannot tell by careful watching
when the reign of God will come.
Neither is it a matter of reporting
that it is here or there.
The reign of God is already in your midst.'"
Luke 17:20-21

You pray for the Holy Spirit to come
and your prayers are answered.
The Holy Spirit is here in your midst.
It changes things.
It changes you.

(June 10, 2006 Sat 9:08 AM CDT)

"They came to Jericho next,
and as Jesus was leaving that place
with this disciples and a sizable crowd,
there was a blind beggar Bartimaeus ('Son of Timaeus')
sitting by the roadside.
On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth,
he began to call out,
'Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!'
Many people were scolding him to make him keep quiet,
but he shouted all the louder,
'Son of David, have pity on me!'
Then Jesus stopped and said,
'Call him over.'
So they called the blind man over,
telling him as they did so,
'You have nothing to fear from him!
Get up! He is calling you!'
He threw aside his cloak,
jumped up and came to Jesus.
Jesus asked him,
'What do you want me to do for you?'
'Rabboni,' the blind man said,
'I want to see.'
Jesus said in reply,
'Be on your way!
Your faith has healed you.'
Immediately he received his sight and
started to follow him up the road."
Mark 10:46-52

Call out to Jesus.
Ask him to see.
Ask him to open your eyes.
He will heal you.
Then follow him all the days of your life.

(June 9, 2006 Fri 7:42 AM CDT)

This is from our Bible Study last night.

"Then the Lord said,
'Go outside and stand on the mountain
before the Lord;
the Lord will be passing by.'
A strong and heavy wind was rending the mountains
and crushing rocks before the Lord ---
but the Lord was not in the wind.
After the wind there was an earthquake ---
but the Lord was not in the earthquake.
After the earthquake there was fire ---
but the Lord was not in the fire.
After the fire there was a tiny whispering sound.
When Elijah heard this, he hid his face in his cloak
and went and stood at the entrance of the cave.
A voice said to him,
'Elijah, why are you here?'"
1 Kings 19:11-13

The Lord is passing by.
Will you notice him?
Will you hear him?
He is there.
Listen to him carefully.

(June 8, 2006 Thu 6:23 AM CDT)

I just watched this video of Judson Laipply .
It was mentioned in the newspaper yesterday.
It is 6 minutes long.

There was an email at work yesterday
that someone we have been praying for
over the last year is cancer free.
Thank the Lord.

"As regards specific times and moments, brothers and sisters,
we do not need to write you;
you know very well
that the day of the Lord is coming
like a thief in the night."
1 Thessalonians 5:1-2

Be ready.
The Lord is coming.
Be prepared.
Come Lord Jesus.

(June 7, 2006 Wed 6:13 AM CDT)

The President is in Omaha this morning.
God bless him and his family.

Jesus prayed,
"I entrusted to them
the message you entrusted to me."
John 17:8

Can Jesus trust you?
He has given you the message.
You understand who he is.
You know the truth.
Will you tell anyone about him?

(June 6, 2006 Tue 6:15 AM CDT)

It's 6-6-06 today.

From page 1166 of my Bible.

"The chief priests and the scribes became indignant
when they observed the wonders Jesus worked,
and how the children were shouting out
in the temple precincts,
'Hosanna to the Son of David!'"
Matthew 21:15

Teach your children to praise the Lord.
The Lord deserves our praise.
He is the holy one.
See what the Jesus is doing.
Praise the Lord.

(June 5, 2006 Mon 6:09 AM CDT)

"If one member suffers,
all the members suffer with it;
if one member is honored,
all the members share its joy.
You, then, are the body of Christ.
Every one of you is a member of it."
1 Corinthians 12:26-27

Be part of the team.
Contribute to the team.
We all share the ups and downs.
Work as a team member.
Christ is our leader.

(June 4, 2006 Sun 8:24 AM CDT)

Happy Pentecost Sunday!
Pray for the Holy Spirit to come to us.

"When the day of Pentecost came
it found them gathered in one place.
Suddenly from up in the sky
there came a noise like a strong, driving wind
which was heard all through the house
where they were seated.
Tongues as of fire appeared, which parted
and came to rest on each of them.
All were filled with the Holy Spirit.
They began to express themselves in foreign tongues
and make bold proclamation
as the Spirit prompted them."
Acts 2:1-4

Come, Holy Spirit.
Come into our lives.
Fill us with your wisdom and knowledge.
Show us the truth.
Make us bold in proclaiming the Lord.
Thank you for your fire.

(June 3, 2006 Sat 9:08 AM CDT)

"As to the extraordinary revelations,
in order that I might not become conceited
I was given a thorn in the flesh,
an angel of Satan to beat me and
keep me from getting proud.
Three times I begged the Lord
that this might leave me.
He said to me,
'My grace is enough for you,
for in weakness power reaches perfection.'
And so I willingly boast of my weaknesses instead,
that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
2 Corinthians 12:7-9

The grace of the Lord is all you need.
You have it in abundance.
Lean on the Lord and his power.
He will lift you up.

(June 2, 2006 Fri 6:12 AM CDT)

There is a lot less people on bus #2 to downtown,
since Central High School is out now.

"Jesus said,
'Your father Abraham rejoiced
that he might see my day.
He saw it and was glad.'
At this the Jews objected:
'You are not yet 50!
How can you have seen Abraham?'
Jesus answered them:
'I solemnly declare it:
before Abraham came to be, I am.'
At that they picked up rocks
to throw at Jesus,
but he hid himself and
slipped out of the temple precincts."
John 8:56-59

Abraham had died long ago.
How could Jesus have seen him?
They did not understand.
Then Jesus declares he is God.
They were very upset by this.
They wanted to kill Jesus.
It was not time for Jesus to die.
He controls his destiny.
He controls time.

(June 1, 2006 Thu 6:14 AM CDT)

"They finally woke Jesus and said to him,
'Teacher, does it not matter to you
that we are going to drown?'
He awoke and rebuked the wind
and said to the sea:
'Quiet! Be still!'
The wind fell off and everything grew calm.
Then he said to them,
'Why are you so terrified?
Why are you lacking in faith?'
A great awe overcame them at this.
They kept saying to one another,
'Who can this be that
the wind and the sea obey him?'"
Mark 4:38-41

Have faith.
Do not be afraid.
The Lord is there in your boat.
He is right next to you.
He is concerned about what is happening to you.
It may look like the situation is hopeless,
but he will save you.
Trust Jesus.
