November, 2006

Today is the day
Give glory to the Lord

He is holy

Give to the Lord honor and praise

Thank the Lord

The Lord is awesome

(November 30, 2006 Thu 6:13 AM CST)

"As Paul and Barnabas were leaving,
the people invited them
to speak on the subject again
on the following Sabbath."
Acts 13:42

You have an invitation.
Come and meet Jesus.
He is more than you can imagine.
He is the answer.
Come to a Christian church this Sunday.

(November 29, 2006 Wed 6:20 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"My kingdom does not belong to this world.
If my kingdom were of this world,
my subjects would be fighting
to save me from being handed over to the Jews.
As it is, my kingdom is not here."
John 18:36

Jesus is a king.
He is our leader.
Follow him.
He leads you to the Kingdom of God.
It is not in this world.

(November 28, 2006 Tue 6:15 AM CST)

It is raining this morning in Omaha.
Thank the Lord.

Jesus said,
"Love your enemy and do good;
lend without expecting repayment.
Then will your recompense be great."
Luke 6:35

Do good.
Make an enemy your friend.
It is possible with the help of Jesus.
Give things away.
Don't ask for a payment.
The Lord will repay you.

(November 27, 2006 Mon 6:17 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"You are the salt of the earth.
But what if salt goes flat?
How can you restore its flavor?
Then it is good for nothing
but to be thrown out
and trampled underfoot."
Matthew 5:13

Jesus says that you are salt.
Give flavor to life.
Show people how to live.
Don't go under.

(November 26, 2006 Sun 8:27 AM CST)

This is from a sermon (11/19/06) at TC .
He talks about the Sabbath day.

"Thus the heavens and the earth
and all their array were completed.
Since on the seventh day
God was finished with the work he had been doing,
he rested on the seventh day
from all the work he had undertaken.
So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy,
because on it he rested
from all the work he had done in creation.
Such is the story of the heavens
and the earth at their creation."
Genesis 2:1-4

Is Sunday just the same as any other day for you?
Do you do anything special on Sunday?
Set aside time for the Lord.
Attend a Christian church.
Worship the Lord.
Think about the Lord and what he has done for you.
Give praise to God.
Rest in the Lord.

(November 25, 2006 Sat 8:12 AM CST)

Omaha set a record high of 64 F (17 C) degrees
on Thanksgiving Day November 23rd.
We thank the Lord for the mild weather.

"At this King Agrippa said,
'A little more, Paul, and you
will make a Christian out of me!'
Paul replied,
'Whether little more or much more,
I would to God that not only you
but all who listen to me today
might become what I am ---
without these chains!'"
Acts 26:28-29

We need to be set free.
We need to find freedom in Christ.
It is there.
Listen to the Lord.
Read all that you want.
Give faith a chance.
Break the chain.

(November 24, 2006 Fri 8:07 AM CST)

I loaded Fedora 6 on my PC yesterday.
It is a Linux system.
I just need to learn how to use it.

"At the sight of this,
Peter fell at the knees of Jesus saying,
'Leave me, Lord.
I am a sinful man.'"
Luke 5:8

Jesus is all holy.
We have all sinned.
It is embarrassing.
Jesus loves us even though we have sinned.
He cares for us.
He loves us.
Fall at the knees of Jesus
and talk to him.

(November 23, 2006 Thu 6:30 AM CST)

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

"Give thanks to the Lord, invoke his name;
make known among the nations his deeds."
Psalms 105:1

Give thanks to God.
Bless his holy name.
Thank you, Lord, for all your many gifts.
Bless our families today.
Be with us.
We praise you for your goodness.
Amen.

(November 22, 2006 Wed 6:16 AM CST)

"How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of hosts!
My soul yearns and pines
for the courts of the Lord."
Psalms 84:1-2 (or 2-3)

You are never at home until you find the Lord.
You will be restless and wander all over this world,
but the Lord provides shelter for you.
He is comfort for your soul.
Come and see.
Welcome home.

(November 21, 2006 Tue 6:16 AM CST)

"We pray for you always
that our God may make you
worthy of his call,
and fulfill by his power
every honest intention and work of faith.
In this way the name of our Lord Jesus
may be glorified in you and you in him,
in accord with the gracious gift of our God
and of the Lord Jesus Christ."
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

You are in my prayers.
Prayers are important.
Pray for your family and friends.
It is important.
Give glory to the Lord.

(November 20, 2006 Mon 6:01 AM CST)

"My prayer is that your love
may more and more abound,
both in understanding
and wealth of experience..."
Philippians 1:9

There is much to learn.
There is much to see.
The Lord has much to show you.
Are you open to learning new things?

(November 19, 2006 Sun 8:02 AM CST)

Make this a week of Thanksgiving.
Write down all that you are thankful for.
Thank the Lord.

I loaded Vista Ultimate on my PC yesterday.
It runs my Sudoku program faster.
Interesting.
Why would that be?
The security on Vista is too tight.
I could not update a text file
of previous Sudoku puzzles that I saved with Windows XP.
I could read it, but I could not overwrite it.
I had to save it with a different name.

"When they landed,
they saw a charcoal fire there
with a fish laid on it and some bread.
'Bring some of the fish you just caught,'
Jesus told them.
Simon Peter went aboard and hauled ashore
the net loaded with sizable fish ---
153 of them!
In spite of the great number,
the net was not torn."
John 21:9-11

The net is tossed in the water.
There is much to be found there.
The Lord can use what is there.
Do what he asks of you.
He needs all "153" of us.

(November 18, 2006 Sat 9:18 AM CST)

I ran the 3 Windows XP Recovery DVDs yesterday.
My PC is going again with Windows XP.
The problem is that you have to reinstall all the software.
It takes about 4 hours to restore everything.
The "E" drive changed to the "D" drive.
That was weird.

"Then, taking the bread and giving thanks,
Jesus broke it and gave it to them, saying:
'This is my body to be given for you.
Do this as a remembrance of me.'
He did the same with the cup after eating,
saying as he did so:
'This cup is the new covenant in my blood,
which will be shed for you.'"
Luke 22:19-20

It is Holy Communion.
Remember Jesus.
He gave his life for us.
It is a covenant.
We believe.

(November 17, 2006 Fri 7:41 AM CST)

Still using Vista RC1 this morning.

The angel said to Zechariah:
"God himself will go before him,
in the spirit and power of Elijah,
to turn the hearts of fathers to their children
and the rebellious to the wisdom of the just,
and to prepare for the Lord a people well-disposed."
Luke 1:17

You have all that you need.
The Lord has provided for you.
You have the Internet and all its resources.
You have the Bible.
You have many wonderful Christian churches.
You have brothers and sisters in Christ.
You have faith.
Prepare yourself.

(November 16, 2006 Thu 6:21 AM CST)

Windows XP Media Center would not work
on my new PC this morning,
so I rebooted it in Vista RC1.
It got some strange error twice,
so I gave up.
Good thing I have two operating systems on this PC.

"The centurion and his men
who were keeping watch over Jesus
were terror-stricken at seeing the earthquake
and all that was happening, and said,
'Clearly this was the Son of God!'"
Matthew 27:54

He was there.
He saw Jesus die.
He was a witness.
Then he believed.
See and believe.

(November 15, 2006 Wed 6:14 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"Let the children come to me
and do not hinder them.
It is to just such as these
that the kingdom of God belongs.
I assure you
that whoever does not accept
the reign of God like a little child
shall not take part in it."
Mark 10:14-15

Christianity is not that complicated.
You love Jesus and he loves you.
You have a simple faith.
You stay near to him.
You depend on him.

(November 14, 2006 Tue 6:15 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"The seed on good ground
are those who hear the word
in a spirit of openness,
retain it,
and bear fruit through perseverance."
Luke 8:15

Hear the Word of God.
Let it sink in.
Think about it.
Be open to it.
Let it take root.
Then it will bear fruit.

(November 13, 2006 Mon 6:16 AM CST)

"Through all this,
the congregations grew stronger in faith
and daily increased in numbers."
Acts 16:5

We pray for the church to increase in numbers.
May new people find Jesus daily.
May they commit their lives to him.
May their faith be strong.

(November 12, 2006 Sun 8:09 AM CST)

Yesterday I loaded IE7 to my PC.
It is about the same as IE6.
It does have tabs.
That is nice.

"May grace and peace from God our Father,
and Jesus Christ our Savior,
be with you."
Titus 1:4

We need grace.
We need peace.
It comes from God the Father.
Receive these blessings from above.
The Lord be with you.

(November 11, 2006 Sat 8:30 AM CST)

Yesterday I found a useful Sudoku program .
It has a lot of colors to it.
Very nice.
It must have taken a long time to write the program.

The leaves are down as you can see on the trees in my backyard.

Now I just need to rake them up.
It is a bright sunny cold (28 F,-2 C) morning.

"We pray for you always
that our God may make you worthy of his call,
and fulfill by his power
every honest intention and work of faith.
In this way the name of our Lord Jesus
may be glorified in you and you in him,
in accord with the gracious gift
of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ."
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

I pray for you.
I pray that everyone will find Jesus.
He is the answer.
He is a gracious gift.
He is calling you.
Find purpose in your life.

(November 10, 2006 Fri 7:55 AM CST)

"Everyone who lives in Jerusalem
knows what a remarkable show of power
took place through them.
We cannot deny it."
Acts 4:16

You can't deny the power of God.
It is there.
It exists.
It is powerful.
It is active.
It is remarkable.

(November 9, 2006 Thu 6:16 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"I am the light of the world.
No follower of mine shall ever walk in darkness;
no, they shall possess the light of life."
John 8:12

Go to the light.
See the truth clearly.
It is there for all to see.
Go to Jesus.
Walk in the light.

(November 8, 2006 Wed 6:22 AM CST)

"Of his fullness
we have all had a share ---
love following upon love."
John 1:16

God is love.
It is true.
His love is overflowing.
Share in his love.

(November 7, 2006 Tue 6:22 AM CST)

"Then Jesus looked at him with love and told him,
'There is one thing more you must do.
Go and sell what you have and give to the poor;
you will then have treasure in heaven.
After that, come and follow me.'
At these words the man's face fell.
He went away sad, for he had many possessions."
Mark 10:21-22

Don't hold on too tight.
The things of this world will keep you from the Lord.
Let go and let God come into your life.
Don't go away sad.

(November 6, 2006 Mon 6:17 AM CST)

"May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of glory,
grant you a spirit of wisdom and insight
to know him clearly.
May he enlighten your innermost vision
that you may know the great hope
to which he has called you,
the wealth of his glorious heritage
to be distributed among
the members of the church,
and the immeasurable scope
of his power in us who believe."
Ephesians 1:17-19

Jesus, help us today.
We need you.
We need your vision.
Open our eyes.

(November 5, 2006 Sun 7:55 AM CST)

"In times past,
God spoke in fragmentary and
varied ways to our fathers
through the prophets;
in this, the final age,
he has spoken to us
through his Son,
whom he has made heir
of all things
and through whom
he first created the universe."
Hebrews 1:1-2

What more could you ask for?
God has spoken to us.
Jesus came to earth.
He talked to us.
He became one of us.
He was here and taught us.
He gave us an example.
Jesus is still here with us.
Listen to him.

(November 4, 2006 Sat 8:57 AM CST)

This is from a sermon (10/22/06)
I listened to yesterday from TC .

"Keep careful watch over your conduct.
Do not act like fools, but like thoughtful people.
Make the most of the present opportunity,
for these are evil days.
Do not continue in ignorance,
but try to discern the will of the Lord."
Ephesians 5:15-17

Make the most of today.
Live in the present time.
Right now.
Now is the time.
Do what the Lord asks of you.
You have enough time
to do what the Lord wants you to do today.
Don't worry about tomorrow.
Be a discerning person.
"Be filled with the Spirit." (verse 18)

(November 3, 2006 Fri 7:29 AM CST)

I had someone put all new windows in my house yesterday.
God bless them and the work they do.

This is from our Bible Study last night.

"Love has no room for fear;
rather, perfect love casts out all fear."
1 John 4:18

God is love.
If you have the Lord in your life,
you have nothing to fear.
His love covers you.
Be at peace.

(November 2, 2006 Thu 6:13 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"You will know the truth,
and the truth will set you free."
John 8:32

You need to know the truth.
Jesus is the one that knows.
Get in touch with him.
See what he says.
This is true freedom.

(November 1, 2006 Wed 6:18 AM CST)

I helped hand out candy last night at SFH .

Jesus said,
"The last shall be first
and the first shall be last."
Matthew 20:16

Jesus does not think like us.
We think we are doing so well,
but we have so much farther to go.
Stay near Jesus.
We have much to learn.
