December, 2006

Praise the Lord
Give glory to God

Trust in the Lord

He is your help in times of need

Go to the Lord

Love the Lord your God with all your strength

(December 31, 2006 Sun 8:28 AM CST)

We are getting some light snow this morning in Omaha.
That is the first time this season for snow.

Jesus said,
"Be compassionate, as your Father is compassionate.
Do not judge, and you will not be judged.
Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned.
Pardon, and you shall be pardoned.
Give, and it shall be given to you."
Luke 6:36-38

On the last day of this year
the Lord is asking you to be compassionate.
Be a forgiving person.
Be a giving person.
This will change you and it will change the world.

(December 30, 2006 Sat 9:23 AM CST)

Yesterday I had someone come and install
a new faucet in the kitchen.
God bless them and the work they do.

Yesterday I bought a Digital Multi-Tester.
I need to learn how to use it.
I measured 1.2 Volts on a rechargeable AA battery.
That was accurate.
I tried to measure the resistance in Ohms on a resistor
and it did not work.
The resistor was on a circuit board for a 28.8 computer modem.
I think you have to remove the resistor
from the circuit board to measure it.
I'm not going to do that.
I just don't know what I'm doing.

"When the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Jesus,
he unrolled the scroll and found the passage
where it was written:
'The spirit of the Lord is upon me;
therefore he has anointed me.
He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor,
to proclaim liberty to captives,
recovery of sight to the blind
and release to prisoners,
to announce a year of favor from the Lord.'
Rolling up the scroll he gave it back
to the assistant and sat down.
All in the synagogue had their eyes fixed on him.
Then he began by saying to them,
'Today this Scripture passage
is fulfilled in your hearing.'"
Luke 4:17-21

There are prophecies in the Old Testament.
They pointed to Jesus.
He would come one day to earth.
He would save his people.
He announces glad tidings to you.
He will set you free.

(December 29, 2006 Fri 7:44 AM CST)

Lately I have been reading the book
Electronics Fundamentals by Thomas Floyd.
I'm on chapter 3.
It explains electricity very well.
Each chapter has quizzes that you can take on this web site.
Click on the chapter numbers to see the quizzes listed
on the left side of the screens.
I don't always get 100%.
I need to study more.

"This explains why we work and struggle as we do;
our hopes are fixed on the living God
who is the Savior of all men,
but especially of those who believe."
1 Timothy 4:10

It takes effort.
You need to concentrate.
You must work hard.
Do the will of God.
Christ is your Savior.
Your hope is in him.

(December 28, 2006 Thu 6:20 AM CST)

Paul wrote,
"I assure you, brothers,
the gospel I proclaimed to you
is no mere human invention.
I did not receive it from any man,
nor was I schooled in it.
It came by revelation from Jesus Christ."
Galatians 1:11-12

It is good news.
It is from the Lord.
It is given to you.
Will you receive it?
Read the Bible each day.

(December 27, 2006 Wed 8:21 AM CST)

"Paul wanted to go before this gathering
but his disciples would not let him.
Even some of the Asiarchs who were friends of Paul
sent word to him advising him
not to venture into the theater."
Acts 19:30-31

There is such a thing as commonsense.
God gave you intelligence.
Think about things.
Listen to your friends.
Ask the Lord to help you make good decisions.

(December 26, 2006 Tue 6:16 AM CST)

"They then took away the stone
and Jesus looked upward and said:
'Father, I thank you for having heard me.
I know that you always hear me
but I have said this for the sake of the crowd,
that they may believe that you sent me.'"
John 11:41-42

God hears our prayers.
Pray daily.
Think of the Lord often.
Believe in Christ.
He was sent to us.

(December 25, 2006 Mon 8:32 AM CST)

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

"While Mary and Joseph were there
the days of her confinement were completed.
She gave birth to her first-born son
and wrapped him in swaddling clothes
and laid him in a manger,
because there was no room for them
in the place where travelers lodged."
Luke 2:6-7

It is a surprise.
He comes so softly and so calmly.
There is no grand entrance.
God has come to earth.
Welcome him to your heart.
Do it softly and calmly.
Jesus, come to me.
I welcome you into my heart.
Come to me this Christmas Day.

(December 24, 2006 Sun 8:21 AM CST)

Yesterday I listened a sermon (12/10/06) from TC .
The pastor mentioned
Stella Thornhope's story 'Delayed Delivery' .
The story starts in the 5th paragraph of this link.
It is a Christmas story.

"Take care to do all these things,
for you know the time in which we are living.
It is now the hour for you to wake from sleep,
for our salvation is closer
than when we first accepted the faith.
The night is far spent;
the day draws near.
Let us cast off deeds of darkness
and put on the armor of light."
Romans 13:11-12

We just went past the shortest day of the year.
We are in great darkness.
Let us turn to the light of Christ.
He is coming soon.
Our salvation is near.

(December 23, 2006 Sat 8:58 AM CST)

Yesterday I was listening to K-LOVE 88.1 FM on the radio in Omaha
and they played one of my very favorite Christmas songs.
It is by Avalon and named
Jesus Born on This Day .
You can listen to a 30-second sample on this link.
It was written by Mariah Carey, Walter Afanasieff and Bryce Inman.
Very beautiful.
It makes me cry.
Very moving.
I even bought it on iTunes.

"For two full years Paul stayed on in his rented lodgings,
welcoming all who came to him.
With full assurance, and without any hindrance whatever,
he preached the reign of God and taught about
the Lord Jesus Christ."
Acts 28:30-31

Paul was under house arrest.
He still preached the gospel.
He was amazing.
He could not travel around.
He continued the work of the Lord right where he was.

(December 22, 2006 Fri 8:18 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"Do not let your hearts be troubled.
Have faith in God
and faith in me."
John 14:1

Trust in the Lord.
He hears your prayers.
He answers your prayers.
He watches over you.
He cares about you.
Be at peace.
Have faith.

(December 21, 2006 Thu 6:24 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"If anyone wishes to rank first,
he must remain the last one of all
and the servant of all."
Mark 9:35

Be a follower of Christ.
Be a servant.
Christ is our leader.
Be of service to others.

(December 20, 2006 Wed 8:26 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"Full authority has been given to me
both in heaven and on earth;
go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations.
Baptize them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Teach them to carry out everything I have commanded you.
And know that I am with you always,
until the end of the world!"
Matthew 28:18-20

Jesus is there.
He is here for you.
He is with you.
It is a promise to you.
Do what he asks of you.
Be a disciple.

(December 19, 2006 Tue 6:19 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"Anyone who hears my words
and puts them into practice
is like the wise man
who built his house on rock."
Matthew 7:24

Build on the rock.
The rock is Jesus.
Hear the words of the rock.
He is a solid foundation.
Be wise.

(December 18, 2006 Mon 6:22 AM CST)

"Teach us to number our days aright,
that we may gain wisdom of heart."
Psalms 90:12

Each day is a gift from God.
We are only here for a short time.
Do what the Lord asks of you each day.
Day by day.

(December 17, 2006 Sun 8:43 AM CST)

Congratulations to the Nebraska Volleyball team .
They won the championship game last night here in Omaha.

"Beloved you are strangers and in exile;
hence I urge you not to indulge your carnal desires.
By their nature they wage war on the soul."
1 Peter 2:11

There is a battle going on.
Will you win?
Do what the Lord asks of you.
Be holy and pleasing to the Lord.
Win the war.

(December 16, 2006 Sat 9:07 AM CST)

Yesterday I was reading about Electric Circuits .
When I started college I studied Electrical Engineering
for a few classes.
Some of the things I remember like Ohm's Law .

"First of all,
I give thanks to my God
through Jesus Christ
for all of you
because your faith is heralded
throughout the world."
Romans 1:8

May your faith be great.
May it be something wonderful.
May it spread throughout the world.
May it touch lives and change them.
Jesus, hear our prayer.

(December 15, 2006 Fri 8:39 AM CST)

Lately I have been reading about
How Stuff Works .
It is very interesting.
I am interested in electronics.

Jesus said,
"I am the gate.
Whoever enters through me
will be safe.
He will go in and out
and find pasture."
John 10:9

Find Jesus.
Find life.
Enter in.
You will find safety.
He is the one.
There is no other.

(December 14, 2006 Thu 6:28 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"What woman, if she has 10 silver pieces
and loses one, does not light a lamp
and sweep the house in a diligent search
until she has retrieved what she lost?"
Luke 15:8

Don't lose it.
Stay near the Lord.
Your faith is of great value.
Hold it close to your heart.

(December 13, 2006 Wed 6:22 AM CST)

"Many have undertaken to compile
a narrative of the events
which have been fulfilled in our midst,
precisely as those events
were transmitted to us
by the original eyewitnesses
and ministers of the word."
Luke 1:1-2

It is there for you.
They captured the events of Jesus.
They saw him.
They heard him.
They saw the miracles.
They saw him die.
Read and believe.

(December 12, 2006 Tue 6:19 AM CST)

"You show me the path to life,
fullness of joys in your presence,
the delights at your right hand forever."
Psalms 16:11

There is a path that leads to life.
Few find it.
Follow the Lord.
He will lead you to the promised land.

(December 11, 2006 Mon 6:16 AM CST)

"You see brother,
I want to make you useful
to me in the Lord.
Refresh this heart of mine in Christ."
Philemon 1:20

Be useful to the Lord.
Be open to the leading of Christ.
Renew your heart.
Christmas is near.

(December 10, 2006 Sun 9:00 AM CST)

"My message and my preaching
had none of the persuasive force
of wise argumentation,
but the convincing power
of the Spirit.
As a consequence,
your faith rests
not on the wisdom of men
but on the power of God."
1 Corinthians 2:4-5

Where does true wisdom come from?
It comes from the Holy Spirit.
Ask for this wisdom.
This will build your faith.

(December 9, 2006 Sat 8:46 AM CST)

"Now to him who is able to strengthen you
in the gospel which I proclaim
when I preach Jesus Christ,
the gospel which reveals
the mystery hidden for many ages.
but now manifested through
the writings of the prophets,
and at the command of the eternal God,
made known to all the Gentiles
that they may believe and obey ---
to him, the God who alone is wise,
may glory be given through Jesus Christ
until endless ages.
Amen."
Romans 16:25-27

Give glory to God.
He has revealed the mystery to us.
We know the truth in Christ.
God is wise.
He will share his wisdom with us.
Forever and ever.
Amen.

(December 8, 2006 Fri 8:16 AM CST)

"Jesus told Martha:
'I am the resurrection and the life:
whoever believes in me,
though he should die, will come to life;
and whoever is alive and believes in me
will never die.
Do you believe this?'"
John 11:25-26

Believe in Jesus.
He has promised you eternal life.
Take this to heart.
He is life that never ends.

(December 7, 2006 Thu 6:21 AM CST)

"Peter had not finished these words
when the Holy Spirit descended upon
all who were listening to Peter's message."
Acts 10:44

We need the Holy Spirit.
Come, Holy Spirit.
Fill us with your wisdom and understanding.
We need you.
Come to us today.

(December 6, 2006 Wed 6:24 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"I give you a new commandment:
love one another.
Such as my love has been for you,
so must your love be for each other.
This is how all will know you for my disciples:
your love for one another."
John 13:34-35

Be a witness.
People will see your love and believe.
It is Christ living in you.
Let your light shine.

(December 5, 2006 Tue 6:19 AM CST)

"Fill those jars with water," Jesus ordered,
at which they filled them to the brim.
"Now, draw some out and
take it to the waiter in charge."
They did as he instructed them.
John 2:7-8

Jesus will ask you to do things.
Are you listening?
Are willing to respond?
Hear the Lord and his instructions.
The results will be a miracle.

(December 4, 2006 Mon 6:18 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"False messiahs and false prophets
will appear performing signs and wonders
to mislead, if it were possible,
even the chosen.
So be constantly on guard!
I have told you about it beforehand."
Mark 13:22-23

Be on guard.
Protect your faith.
Be aware of what is happening.
Call on Jesus to keep you informed.
Keep the faith.

(December 3, 2006 Sun 8:48 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"Again I tell you,
if two of you join your voices
on earth to pray for anything whatever;
it shall be granted you
by my Father in heaven.
Where two or three are gathered in my name,
there am I in their midst."
Matthew 18:19-20

Let us join together in prayer today.
Let us pray for peace in the world.
Let there be peace in Iraq.
May the fighting cease.
May love and respect return to the people.

(December 2, 2006 Sat 9:20 AM CST)

I'm using Microsoft Word 2007 to spell-check this today.
I installed it yesterday.

"Let us hold unswervingly to our profession
which gives us hope,
for he who made the promise
deserves our trust.
We must consider how
to rouse each other
to love and good deeds."
Hebrews 10:23-24

Encourage one another in the faith.
Be a positive person.
God be with you.
I'm praying for you to be a great witness.

(December 1, 2006 Fri 8:38 AM CST)

"For all these reasons,
let anyone who thinks
he is standing upright
watch out lest he fall!
No test has been sent you
that does not come to all men.
Besides, God keeps his promise.
He will not let you be tested
beyond your strength.
Along with the test
he will give you
a way out of it
so that you may be able to endure it."
1 Corinthians 10:12-13

Be careful.
Don't fall.
Your strength comes from the Lord.
Call on Jesus for help.
You will endure.
Testing 1, 2, 3.
