February, 2007

Look up
Keep near to Jesus

God is love

Hear the voice of the Lord

The time is now

Point toward heaven

(February 28, 2007 Wed 6:20 AM CST)

Jesus said:
"Be on guard!
Let no one mislead you."
Matthew 24:4

Read the Bible.
Know what Jesus said and did.
The Discovery Channel is not
a good source of information on Jesus.
It is saying things about Jesus that are not true.

(February 27, 2007 Tue 6:18 AM CST)

"Test yourselves to see whether
you are living in faith;
examine yourselves.
Perhaps you yourselves
do not realize that
Christ Jesus is in you..."
2 Corinthians 13:5

What keeps you going?
What motivates you to holiness?
It is Jesus who lives in you.
Testing 1, 2, 3.
Can you hear me now?

(February 26, 2007 Mon 6:22 AM CST)

"The members of the church
who had been dispersed
went about preaching the word.
Philip, for example,
went down to the town of Samaria
and there proclaimed the Messiah.
Without exception,
the crowds that heard Philip
and saw the miracles he performed
attended closely to what he had to say."
Acts 8:4-6

Miracles should be a normal part of the church.
We should pray and expect great things.
When the Word of God is proclaimed
we should expect wonderful results.
Jesus, come and touch your people.
Bless us and heal us.

(February 25, 2007 Sun 7:35 AM CST)

We got at least 3 inches of snow.
It is heavy to shovel.
It is beautiful.
I will have to take some pictures.
I did take some pictures and I have to edit them
and upload them.
Here are the pictures from a few minutes ago.

"Then Jesus entered the temple and
began ejecting the traders saying:
'Scripture has it,
My house is meant for a house of prayer
but you have made it a den of thieves.'"
Luke 19:45-46

The temple is holy.
It is to be respected.
It is a place to worship.
Where is the temple in your life?
Set it apart.
Make it a house of prayer.

(February 24, 2007 Sat 9:13 AM CST)

The snow is almost all gone from my neighborhood.
It is raining this morning in Omaha.
More snow is on the way.

Jesus asked,
"Why then did you go out --- to see a prophet?
A prophet indeed, and something more!
It is about this man that Scripture says,
'I send my messenger ahead of you
to prepare your way before you.'"
Matthew 11:9-10

He was John the Baptist.
He was a messenger.
He pointed to the Savior.
He prepared the way of the Lord.
And what do you see?

(February 23, 2007 Fri 6:31 AM CST)

"May God have pity on us and bless us;
may he let his face shine upon us.
So may your way be known upon earth;
among all nations, your salvation.
May the peoples praise you, O God;
may all the peoples praise you."
Psalms 67:1-4

Lift up your voice in praise.
Give glory to God.
Praise him for your salvation.
God bless us.

(February 22, 2007 Thu 6:19 AM CST)

Sometimes I wonder who can be saved?
For us it is impossible,
but with God all things are possible.

"But you, beloved, grow strong in your holy faith
through prayer in the Holy Spirit.
Persevere in God's love and welcome
the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ
which leads to life eternal.
Correct those who are confused;
the others you must rescue,
snatching them from the fire."
Jude 1:20-22

Be strong.
Pray to the Holy Spirit.
Persevere in your calling.
Don't give up.
Help those who are confused and lost.
Point them to life in Jesus.

(February 21, 2007 Wed 6:21 AM CST)

It is Ash Wednesday.
We begin a season of grace.
Be open to what the Lord has for you.

"Since you have been raised up in company with Christ,
set your heart on what pertains to higher realms
where Christ is seated at God's right hand.
Be intent on things above rather than on things of earth.
After all, you have died!
Your life is hidden now with Christ in God.
When Christ our life appears,
then you shall appear with him in glory."
Colossians 3:1-4

Turn your heart toward Christ.
Read his words in the Bible.
Draw near to him.
Think about all that he has done for you.
Enter a season of new life.

(February 20, 2007 Tue 6:22 AM CST)

"I continually thank my God for you
because of the favor he has bestowed
on you in Christ Jesus,
in whom you have been richly endowed
with every gift of speech and knowledge."
1 Corinthians 1:4-5

You have been given wonderful gifts.
Are you using them?
Does your speech praise the Lord?
Is your knowledge building the kingdom of God?
Thank the Lord.

(February 19, 2007 Mon 6:24 AM CST)

It is amazing how "warm" 40 F degrees feels
after all the cold weather we have had in Omaha lately.

"It was a cave with a stone laid across it.
'Take away the stone,' Jesus directed.
Martha, the dead man's sister, said to him,
'Lord, it has been 4 days now;
surely there will be a stench!'
Jesus replied,
'Did I not assure you that if you believed
you would see the glory of God displayed?'"
John 11:38-40

Do you believe?
Do you believe in Jesus?
Believe and see.
You will see the glory of God revealed.
Take the stone away.

(February 18, 2007 Sun 8:51 AM CST)

"While Peter was speaking,
a cloud came and overshadowed them,
and the disciples grew fearful
as the others entered it.
Then from the cloud
came a voice which said,
'This is my Son, my Chosen One.
Listen to him.'
When the voice fell silent,
Jesus was there alone.
The disciples kept quiet,
telling nothing of what
they had seen at that time to anyone."
Luke 9:34-36

Jesus was sent to us.
He is the Son.
He is the Chosen One.
Read his words.
They are the words of life.

(February 17, 2007 Sat 9:17 AM CST)

"As Jesus was starting to go up to Jerusalem,
he took the 12 aside on the road and said to them:
'We are going up to Jerusalem now.
There the Son of Man will be handed over
to the chief priests and scribes,
who will condemn him to death.
They will turn him over to the Gentiles,
to be made sport of and flogged and crucified.
But on the 3rd day he will be raised up.'"
Matthew 20:17-19

Jesus knew what would happen to him.
He kept on going.
Why?
Because of his great love for you and me.
Look forward to the 3rd day.

(February 16, 2007 Fri 6:36 AM CST)

Some people lost their jobs at work yesterday.
Pray for them and their families.
It will be quite an adjustment.

"Jesus asked,
'Which of these 3, in your opinion,
was neighbor to the man
who fell in with the robbers?'
The answer came,
'The one who treated him with compassion.'
Jesus said to him,
'Then go and do the same.'"
Luke 10:36-37

If you see someone that is hurting, help them.
Stop and take time to be with them.
Don't pass them by.
Spend time with them.
Have compassion.

(February 15, 2007 Thu 6:20 AM CST)

I went to the dentist yesterday at 143rd and Fort in Omaha.
It was the first time at this new location.
God bless him and all the people in his office.

"First of all,
I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions,
and thanksgiving be offered for all people,
especially for kings and those in authority,
that we may be able to lead undisturbed and
tranquil lives in perfect piety and dignity.
Prayer of this kind is good, and
God our Savior is pleased with it,
for he wants all people to be saved and
come to know the truth."
1 Timothy 2:1-4

Yes, pray for the leaders of your country.
May God bless them today.
May they be lead by the Holy Spirit
and make good decisions for the people.
God bless all people.
May everyone come to know the love of Jesus.
May they find the truth in knowing him.
Amen.

(February 14, 2007 Wed 6:19 AM CST)

Happy Valentine's Day!
God loves you very much.

"I wish their hearts to be strengthened
and themselves to be closely united in love,
enriched with full assurance by their knowledge
of the mystery of God --- namely Christ ---
in whom every treasure of wisdom
and knowledge is hidden."
Colossians 2:2-3

Have a heart for Christ.
He loves you.
Return that love to him.
It is a mystery.
It is a treasure.

(February 13, 2007 Tue 6:22 AM CST)

We got snow overnight.
They cancelled school in Omaha.

Jesus said,
"Doing the will of him who sent me
and bringing his work to completion is my food."
John 4:34

Do the will of the Lord.
This is the work of the Father.
It will be complete.
This is your food for the journey.
Ask Jesus for directions.

(February 12, 2007 Mon 6:23 AM CST)

"Jesus said in answer to their question,
'Enough!'
Then he touched the ear and healed the man."
Luke 22:51

Jesus was being arrested.
He was innocent.
They were after him.
They wanted to get him.
In the midst of the chaos
Jesus healed this man's ear.
It was a miracle.
He touched that man.
Is that enough for you?

(February 11, 2007 Sun 9:22 AM CST)

"Mighty and wonderful are your works,
Lord God Almighty!
Righteous and true are your ways,
O King of the nations!
Who would dare refuse you honor,
or the glory due your name, O Lord?
Since you alone are holy,
all nations shall come
and worship in your presence.
Your mighty deeds are clearly seen."
Revelation 15:3-4

Praise the Lord.
Give glory to God.
He alone is worthy of our praise.
Lift up your voice to praise him.

(February 10, 2007 Sat 9:45 AM CST)

You notice I don't write much each day.
The attention span of most people is just a few seconds.

"But when the kindness and love
of God our Savior appeared, he saved us;
not because of any righteous deeds we had done,
but because of his mercy.
He saved us through the baptism of new birth,
and renewal by the Holy Spirit."
Titus 3:4-5

We can't save ourselves.
We need Jesus.
He is kindness and love for our souls.
His mercy is there for you.
He sends you the Holy Spirit to bring new life.
Receive these wonderful gifts.

(February 9, 2007 Fri 6:42 AM CST)

It snowed overnight.
I was just out shoveling the snow.
It was about 2 inches deep.

"Keep watch over yourselves,
and over the whole flock
the Holy Spirit has given you to guard."
Acts 20:28

Guard your faith.
Guard the faith of your family.
Stand up for the truth.
Jesus is the truth.
On guard.

(February 8, 2007 Thu 6:19 AM CST)

"Jesus approved the insight
of this answer and told him,
'You are not far from the reign of God.'
And no one had the courage
to ask him any more questions."
Mark 12:34

Have courage.
Go to the Lord with your questions.
Tell him your thoughts.
You are not far from the kingdom of God.
Seek the Lord and you will find him.

(February 7, 2007 Wed 6:31 AM CST)

"Upon our entry into Rome
Paul was allowed to take a lodging of his own,
although a soldier was assigned
to keep guard over him."
Acts 28:16

Paul was sent to Rome.
He was a witness to Christ.
He was under arrest,
but that did not stop him.
He still proclaimed the good news.

(February 6, 2007 Tue 6:23 AM CST)

"All Scripture is inspired of God
and is useful for teaching ---
for reproof, correction,
and training in holiness..."
2 Timothy 3:16

Read the Bible.
It is inspired by God.
God talks to you.
He will comfort you.
He will instruct you.

(February 5, 2007 Mon 6:26 AM CST)

"The Spirit we have received
is not the world's spirit
but God's Spirit,
helping us to recognize
the gifts he has given us."
1 Corinthians 2:12

Holy Spirit, come into our lives.
Help us to recognize our gifts.
Thank you for these gifts.
Help us to use them for the glory of God.

(February 4, 2007 Sun 9:03 AM CST)

Jesus explained to them,
"Just as you enter the city,
you will come upon a man carrying a water jar;
follow him into the house he enters,
and say to the owner,
'The Teacher asks you:
Do you have a guest room
where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?'
That man will show you an upstairs room,
spacious and furnished.
It is there you are to prepare."
They went off and found everything
just as he had said;
and accordingly they prepared the Passover supper.
Luke 22:10-13

Isn't it amazing?
Jesus knows the future.
He knows what is best for you.
Go to him when you need to make a decision.
Ask him for his insights.
He is on your side.
He will help you.
Have supper with him.
Be prepared.

(February 3, 2007 Sat 9:23 AM CST)

"When Jesus returned he found them asleep.
He said to Peter,
'Asleep, Simon?
You could not stay awake for even an hour?
Be on guard and pray that
you may not be put to the test.
The spirit is willing but nature is weak.'"
Mark 14:37-38

Stay awake.
Be on guard.
The forces of evil want to destroy you.
Focus on Jesus.
Keep near to him.
Think of him often.
Pray to him.
Call on his name.

(February 2, 2007 Fri 6:23 AM CST)

"As Jesus entered Capernaum,
a centurion approached him with this request:
'Sir, my serving boy is at home in bed
paralyzed, suffering painfully.'
He said to him,
'I will come and cure him.'
'Sir,' the centurion said in reply,
'I am not worthy to have you under my roof.
Just give an order and my boy will get better.'"
Matthew 8:5-8

The words of Jesus are very powerful.
Jesus, just say the word.
Heal us, Lord.
We need you.

(February 1, 2007 Thu 6:22 AM CST)

"We brought nothing into this world,
nor have we the power to take anything out.
If we have food and clothing
we have all that we need."
1 Timothy 6:7-8

Keep things simple.
You don't need the latest TV and cell phone.
Thank the Lord for what you have.
Live the simple life.
There are a lot less distractions.
