May, 2007

All things are possible for those who believe
Seek first the kingdom of God

The Lord is holy

Love one another

Look up to heaven

Now is the time

(May 31, 2007 Thu 6:08 AM CDT)

"God has saved us and
has called us to a holy life,
not because of any merit of ours
but according to his own design ---
the grace held out to us in Christ Jesus
before the world began
but now made manifest
through the appearance of our Savior.
He has robbed death of its power
and has brought life and immortality
into clear light through the gospel."
2 Timothy 1:9-10

It is there for you to examine.
It is clear to see.
Death is not to be feared.
Immortality can be yours.
There is eternal life in Christ.

(May 30, 2007 Wed 6:19 AM CDT)

"The people carried the sick into the streets
and laid them on cots and mattresses,
so that when Peter passed on by
at least his shadow might fall
on one or another of them.
Crowds from the towns around Jerusalem
would gather, too, bringing their sick
and those who were troubled by unclean spirits,
all of whom were cured."
Acts 5:15-16

The power of God is an amazing thing.
Even a shadow could be a miracle.
God is full of surprises.
He works in ways we don't expect.
Expect the unexpected.

(May 29, 2007 Tue 6:14 AM CDT)

"They came to Jericho next,
and as Jesus was leaving that place
with his disciples and a sizable crowd,
there was a blind beggar Bartimaeus
sitting by the roadside.
On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth,
he began to call out,
'Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!'"
Mark 10:46-47

Call out to the Lord.
Jesus is passing by.
He is near.
Ask him for help.
He will respond.

(May 28, 2007 Mon 8:28 AM CDT)

"You can depend on this
as worthy of full acceptance:
that Christ Jesus came into the world
to save sinners."
1 Timothy 1:15

Jesus came to save you and me.
He wants us to be with him forever.
You can depend on his word.
He is the truth.
He gives you eternal life.
Ask him to forgive your sins.

(May 27, 2007 Sun 8:15 AM CDT)

Happy Pentecost Sunday!

"When the day of Pentecost came
it found them gathered in one place.
Suddenly from up in the sky
there came a noise like a strong, driving wind
which was heard all through the house
where they were seated.
Tongues as of fire appeared,
which parted and come to rest on each of them.
All were filled with the Holy Spirit.
They began to express themselves in foreign tongues
and make bold proclamation
as the Spirit prompted them."
Acts 2:1-4

Come, Holy Spirit.
Renew the face of the earth.
Come and fill our hearts.
Come fire of love.
Come and change us.
I pray that all of you receive
the Holy Spirit today.

(May 26, 2007 Sat 10:05 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"The greatest among you
will be the one who serves the rest.
Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled,
but whoever humbles himself shall be exalted."
Matthew 23:11-12

Who is truly great?
Who is the best?
Is it you?
Be of service.
Serve others.

(May 25, 2007 Fri 6:16 AM CDT)

"The angel said to him:
'Do not be frightened, Zechariah;
your prayer has been heard.
Your wife Elizabeth shall bear a son
whom you shall name John.
Joy and gladness will be yours,
and many will rejoice at his birth;
for he will be great
in the eyes of the Lord.'"
Luke 1:13-15

Your prayers are heard.
Pray with confidence.
Expect your prayers to be answered.
Joy and gladness is yours.
Rejoice.

(May 24, 2007 Thu 6:16 AM CDT)

"When Jesus turned around and
noticed them following him,
he asked them,
'What are you looking for?'"
John 1:38

Are you searching for something?
Is there something missing in your life?
Follow Jesus.
Check him out.
See what he is about.
He is what you are looking for.

(May 23, 2007 Wed 6:17 AM CDT)

"You need to recall
the words of the Lord Jesus himself,
who said,
'There is more happiness
in giving than receiving.'"
Acts 20:35

Give.
Give of yourself.
Give of your time.
Give to the Lord.
Give to others.
Receive many blessings.

(May 22, 2007 Tue 6:15 AM CDT)

"God has saved us and
has called us to a holy life,
not because of any merit of ours
but according to his own design ---
the grace held out to us
in Christ Jesus before the world began."
2 Timothy 1:9

It is there for you.
God gives you grace.
Use it for a life of holiness.
Be all that God asks you to be.

(May 21, 2007 Mon 6:23 AM CDT)

"See how tiny the spark is
that sets a huge forest ablaze!
The tongue is such a flame."
James 3:5-6

Watch what you say.
Think before you speak.
Say positive things.
Build people up.
Bless them in the name of Jesus.

(May 20, 2007 Sun 8:41 AM CDT)

"But now in Christ Jesus
you who once were far off
have been brought near
through the blood of Christ."
Ephesians 2:13

Come near.
Come and see.
Christ welcomes you.
He gave his blood for you.
He loves you very much.

(May 19, 2007 Sat 9:08 AM CDT)

"Pray perseveringly,
be attentive to prayer,
and pray in a spirit of thanksgiving."
Colossians 4:2

Prayer is important.
Take time for prayer.
Make time for prayer.
Talk to Jesus.
Listen for his reply.

(May 18, 2007 Fri 9:00 AM CDT)

"Praised be the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has bestowed on us in Christ
every spiritual blessing in the heavens!"
Ephesians 1:3

We thank you, Lord Jesus,
for your many blessings.
You are so good to us.
We are very grateful.
Thank you for your love.
We have been blessed.

(May 17, 2007 Thu 6:17 AM CDT)

"Therefore, I am content with weakness,
with mistreatment, with distress,
with persecutions and difficulties
for the sake of Christ;
for when I am powerless,
it is then that I am strong."
2 Corinthians 12:10

We are weak.
Christ is strong.
Go to him.
Ask him for help.
He is our strength.

(May 16, 2007 Wed 6:18 AM CDT)

"Brothers and sisters,
I can speak confidently to you
about our father David.
He died and was buried,
and his grave is in our midst
to this day."
Acts 2:29

Here is a picture of the
grave of David in Jerusalem.
He was a great man of God.
We have been studying about David
in our Bible Study.

(May 15, 2007 Tue 6:14 AM CDT)

"When she noticed Peter warming himself,
she looked at him more closely and said,
'You too were with Jesus of Nazareth.'
But he denied it:
'I do not know what you are talking about!
What are you getting at?'
Then he went out into the gateway."
Mark 14:67-68

Do you tell anyone about Jesus?
Do you say that you know him?
Don't deny it.
Share what you know.

(May 14, 2007 Mon 6:12 AM CDT)

After church last night I talked to someone
I went to high school with.
I have not seen him in many years.
He lives in Atlanta, Georgia now.
God bless him and his family.

"Simon's mother-in-law lay ill with a fever,
and the first thing they did
was to tell Jesus about her.
He went over to her and grasped her hand and
helped her up, and the fever left her.
She immediately began to wait on them."
Mark 1:30-31

I pray for Jesus to touch you today.
Grasp his hand.
Hold on tight.
He will heal you.
He will lift you up.

(May 13, 2007 Sun 8:18 AM CDT)

Here is a picture from the graduation yesterday.
I was in the top row on the west side in the back.
Can you tell the school colors?

"Hearken, O Lord, to my prayer
and attend to the sound of my pleading.
In the day of my distress I call upon you,
for you will answer me."
Psalms 86:6-7

Talk to God.
Listen to his reply.
Think about him often.
Call upon him for help.
He will answer you.

(May 12, 2007 Sat 7:52 AM CDT)

Today is Graduation Day for my niece.
God bless her and all the graduates.

This is from our Bible Study.

David said to Goliath,
"All this multitude, too, shall learn
that it is not by sword or spear
that the Lord saves.
For the battle is the Lord's,
and he shall deliver you into our hands."
1 Samuel 17:47

The Lord is on your side.
The victory is with him.
He fights for you.
See the power of God.

(May 11, 2007 Fri 7:34 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Everyone who drinks this water
will be thirsty again.
But whoever drinks the water I give him
will never be thirsty;
no, the water I give
shall become a fountain within him,
leaping up to provide eternal life."
John 4:13-14

Go to Jesus.
He will satisfy your thirst.
He is what you are looking for.
He is life that never ends.

(May 10, 2007 Thu 6:19 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"See that you never despise
one of these little ones.
I assure you,
their angels in heaven constantly behold
my heavenly Father's face."
Matthew 18:10

Angels are there.
They watch over us.
They are on our side.
Call them to defend us.
Give praise to God for angels.

(May 9, 2007 Wed 6:20 AM CDT)

"Be patient, therefore, my brothers and sisters,
until the coming of the Lord.
See how the farmer awaits
the precious yield of the soil.
He looks forward to it patiently
while the soil receives
the winter and the spring rains.
You, too, must be patient.
Steady your hearts, because
the coming of the Lord is at hand."
James 5:7-8

We need to work on that.
We need patience.
We need to wait for the Lord.
He knows that is best.
His timing is perfect.
Trust the Lord.

(May 8, 2007 Tue 6:17 AM CDT)

"Now to him who is able to strengthen you
in the gospel which I proclaim
when I preach Jesus Christ,
the gospel which reveals
the mystery hidden for many ages,
but now manifested through the writings
of the prophets, and,
at the command of the eternal God,
made known to all the Gentiles
that they may believe and obey ---
to him, the God who alone is wise,
may glory be given through Jesus Christ
unto endless ages.
Amen."
Romans 16:25-27

The mystery was there.
It was hidden.
Now it is made known to you.
Jesus has come to earth.
Study about him.
Learn about him.

(May 7, 2007 Mon 6:21 AM CDT)

"...Jesus called loudly,
'Lazarus, come out!'
The dead man came out,
bound hand and foot with linen strips,
his face wrapped in a cloth.
'Untie him,' Jesus told them,
'and let him go free.'"
John 11:43-44

You are dead.
Jesus calls to you.
Come back to life.
He will set you free.
Ask him to forgive you.
Jesus, forgive my sins.
Bring me back to life with you.

(May 6, 2007 Sun 8:22 AM CDT)

It sounded like it rained half the night.
It was hard to sleep with all the thunder.

"Many have undertaken to compile
a narrative of the events
which have been fulfilled in our midst,
precisely as those events
were transmitted to us
by the original eyewitnesses
and ministers of the word."
Luke 1:1-2

They tried to write it all down.
They had to put it into writing.
They saw what Jesus did.
They heard what he said.
They wrote it down for you and me.
Read about Jesus and all that he did for you.

(May 5, 2007 Sat 9:37 AM CDT)

I noticed some cars from out of state last night
driving west on Dodge Street near 90th.
It was later that I put 2 plus 2 together
reading the newspaper.
They are here in Omaha for the
Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting .
God bless all our visitors and their families.

"Send forth your light and your fidelity;
they shall lead me on
and bring me to your holy mountain,
to your dwelling place.
Then will I go in to the altar of God,
the God of my gladness and joy..."
Psalms 43:3-4

Are you happy?
Is there joy in your life?
Go to the altar of God.
Find his dwelling place.
Visit his mountain.
He will lead you to the light.
There will be gladness in your soul.

(May 4, 2007 Fri 6:22 AM CDT)

This was in our Bible Study last night.

"Samuel's response to Saul was:
'You have been foolish!
Had you kept the command
the Lord your God gave you,
the Lord would now establish
your kingship in Israel as lasting;
but as things are,
your kingdom shall not endure.'"
1 Samuel 13:13-14

Listen to the Lord.
The Lord will use other people
to inform you of his will sometimes.
Be open to receive his guidance.
The kingdom of the Lord will endure forever.

(May 3, 2007 Thu 6:18 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"...blest are they who
hear the word of God
and keep it."
Luke 11:28

Listen to Jesus.
Hear what he says.
Keep the word of God
close to your heart.
Be blest.

(May 2, 2007 Wed 6:17 AM CDT)

Pray for someone that was in a motorcycle accident.
Jesus, be with them and help them.

"Guard the rich deposit of faith
with the help of the Holy Spirit
who dwells within us."
2 Timothy 1:14

Be on guard.
Call on the Holy Spirit for help.
You have been given
the wonderful gift of faith.
Protect it.

(May 1, 2007 Tue 6:07 AM CDT)

"Rejoice always,
never cease praying,
render constant thanks;
such is God's will for you
in Christ Jesus."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Have joy in your heart.
Pray to the Lord Jesus.
Thank the Holy Spirit.
Give praise to God.
