October, 2007

God is wonderful
Learn all about Him

Today is a day of faith

Seek the Lord with all your heart

Look to the Lord for guidance

Christ is the king of all creation

(October 31, 2007 Wed 6:28 AM CDT)

Please, pray for someone that I know.
They have cancer and
are receiving chemotherapy treatments.
God be with them and their family.

"Jesus summoned the Twelve and
began to send them out 2 by 2
giving them authority over unclean spirits."
Mark 6:7

There are evil spirits.
You have power over them.
Call on the name of Jesus.
He is very powerful.
Jesus, we ask you to drive the evil spirits away.
Thank you for hearing our prayer.

(October 30, 2007 Tue 6:23 AM CDT)

"God is the one who firmly establishes us
along with you in Christ;
it is he who anointed us and
has sealed us,
thereby depositing the first payment,
the Spirit, in our hearts."
2 Corinthians 1:21-22

You have been blessed.
You have been anointed.
You are sealed with the Holy Spirit.
Your heart is alive.

(October 29, 2007 Mon 6:28 AM CDT)

"Conduct yourselves, then,
in a way worthy
of the gospel of Christ."
Philippians 1:27

Help us, Lord, to do your will.
We are so distracted in this world.
We need your help to live the gospel.
You are our hope for tomorrow.

(October 28, 2007 Sun 7:56 AM CDT)

We are below freezing at 31 F degrees
in Omaha this morning.
I see the frost on the yards.

"Be humbled in the sight of the Lord
and he will raise you on high."
James 4:10

Don't look at yourself too highly.
Your esteem comes from knowing Jesus.
He is the great one.
Look up to him.

(October 27, 2007 Sat 9:02 AM CDT)

"You, then, are the body of Christ.
Every one of you is a member of it."
1 Corinthians 12:27

You are part of the body.
What you do has an impact on others.
Do you part.
Be holy as the Lord is holy.

(October 26, 2007 Fri 7:44 AM CDT)

This is from the crossword puzzle for Oct 22 2007
49-Down, Clue: Genesis twin, 4 letters
See Genesis 25:25 for the answer.

"Meanwhile throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria
the church was at peace.
It was being built up and
was making steady progress
in the fear of the Lord;
at the same time it enjoyed
the increased consolation of the Holy Spirit."
Acts 9:31

Come, Holy Spirit.
We need you.
We need peace.
Bless the church.
May our faith increase daily.
Thank you for your consolation.

(October 25, 2007 Thu 6:19 AM CDT)

Yesterday Ed came and checked my furnace for the winter.
God bless him and his family.

Jesus said to her,
"Daughter, it is your faith
that has cured you.
Go in peace and
be free of this illness."
Mark 5:34

You need a checkup.
The winter is coming.
Is your faith strong?
You want to live in peace
and good spiritual health.

(October 24, 2007 Wed 6:17 AM CDT)

One of the other volunteers at Siena / Francis House last night
was telling me about their Bible Study on Mondays at 1:30 PM.
They are studying Psalms.
They were written by David.
Psalm 22 is a prophecy
about Jesus dying on the cross.

"Be not far from me,
for I am in distress;
be near,
for I have no one to help me."
Psalms 22:11 or 12

Let us pray.
Lord, come to us.
Be near us.
You are the only one that can help us.
We need you.

(October 23, 2007 Tue 6:14 AM CDT)

This is from the Crossword Puzzle Oct 21, 2007 .
3-Down, Clue: Noah's eldest.
It is 4 letters long.
Do you know the answer?
Read Genesis 10:1 .

"Rejoice always,
never cease praying,
render constant thanks;
such is God's will for you
in Christ Jesus."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Have joy in your heart.
It comes from knowing Jesus.
He walks right next to you.
He is there when you need him.
Give thanks to God.

(October 22, 2007 Mon 6:19 AM CDT)

"God once more set a day, 'Today,'
when long afterward he spoke through David
the words we have quoted:
'Today, if you should hear his voice,
harden not your hearts.'"
Hebrews 4:7

Today is the day.
Seize the day (Carpe diem).
Turn to God.
Open your heart.
Listen to his voice.

(October 21, 2007 Sun 8:15 AM CDT)

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Omaha.
Very nice.

"At every opportunity pray in the Spirit,
using prayers and petitions of every sort."
Ephesians 6:18

What is prayer?
It is conversation with God.
You talk to him and he talks to you.
Take time to pray each day.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you with this effort.
Holy Spirit, help me.
I want to get closer to you.
I want to learn all about you.
Teach me.

(October 20, 2007 Sat 10:16 AM CDT)

I found the web site that has the same
crossword puzzle that is in our afternoon newspaper.
It is from the L. A. Times.
They are hard puzzles for me.
Any crossword puzzle is hard for me.
I bought a Crossword Puzzle Dictionary .
Maybe that will help.
I am (Oct 18, 2007, 62 ACROSS,
Clue: Gullible, Answer: NAIVE).
I get about 5 or 10 words out of the whole puzzle.
It is nothing like Sudoku puzzles.

Jesus replied to the high priests and Pharisees,
"Let me put a question for you to answer:
Did the baptism of John come from God or from men?"
Luke 20:3-4

What is the answer?
Are you searching for it?
Do you care?
Are you thinking?
Go to Jesus.
He has the answer.

(October 19, 2007 Fri 8:16 AM CDT)

Jesus taught,
"The invited are many,
the elect are few."
Matthew 22:14

All are invited.
Come and learn about Jesus.
He is there for all to see.
Ask Jesus to reveal himself to you.
Jesus, teach me who you are.
Come into my life.
I need you.

(October 18, 2007 Thu 6:17 AM CDT)

The pressure in Omaha is down to 29.11 inches.
It is low.
I have a barometer on my kitchen table
that I see each morning.
It is at the record low for my settings.
I had to move the pointer down.

"First of all,
I give thanks to my God
through Jesus Christ
for all of you
because your faith is heralded
throughout the world."
Romans 1:8

May your faith be strong.
May it grow and bloom.
May it be a sign of hope.
God bless you today.

(October 17, 2007 Wed 6:20 AM CDT)

"We walk by faith, not by sight."
2 Corinthians 5:7

Faith is important.
You don't see everything.
There is darkness.
There is light.
Trust Jesus to guide you to the light.

(October 16, 2007 Tue 6:14 AM CDT)

I was studying crossword puzzles yesterday.
I am just looking at the clues and answers.
One of the answers was Giacomo Puccini .
He wrote the opera Tosca.
I have never been to an opera --- ever.

Jesus said,
"'Peace' is my farewell to you,
my peace is my gift to you;
I do not give it to you
as the world gives peace."
John 14:27

True peace is a blessing from above.
It gets inside of you.
It is a deep feeling in your heart.
The Lord is there to comfort you.
It is a gift to you.

(October 15, 2007 Mon 6:21 AM CDT)

Jesus taught,
"Those seeds sown among thorns are another class.
They have listened to the word,
but anxieties over life's demands,
and the desire for wealth,
and cravings of other sorts
come to choke it off;
it bears no yield.
But the seeds sown on good soil
are the ones who listen to the word,
take it to heart, and yield at
30- and 60- and a hundredfold."
Mark 4:18-20

You are here on earth for 60 or 70 years.
What are you going to do with all that time?
Live for the Lord.
Have a heart for God.
Have a huge harvest.

(October 14, 2007 Sun 7:16 AM CDT)

"May the Lord bless you more and more,
both you and your children."
Psalms 115:14

God bless you.
God bless your family.
He made heaven and earth.
He made you and your children.
May the Lord be praised.

(October 13, 2007 Sat 9:35 AM CDT)

Yesterday I started to write a program named code26.
It is for the 26 letters of the alphabet
in crossword puzzles.
I have not got too far.
It only has 8 squares to it and 2 buttons.
It is written in C# (C-Sharp).

"As your models in suffering hardships and in patience,
brothers, take the prophets
who spoke in the name of the Lord.
Those who have endured we call blessed.
You have heard of the steadfastness of Job,
and have seen what the Lord,
who is compassionate and merciful,
did in the end."
James 5:10-11

Speak out for the Lord.
There are things that are wrong.
You can do something about it.
Be blessed.
You can endure with the Lord's help.

(October 12, 2007 Fri 8:17 AM CDT)

"You know well enough
that such trials are our common lot."
1 Thessalonians 3:3

It will be hard.
There will be difficulties.
You will need help.
Turn to Jesus in your time of need.
He is there for you.

(October 11, 2007 Thu 6:17 AM CDT)

I got a 250GB internal IDE hard drive yesterday in the mail
and I backed up my 320GB hard drive to it.
The Acronis software creates an 83GB backup file
that I can store "off site" somewhere.

"For in the gospel is revealed
the justice of God
which begins and ends with faith;
as Scripture says,
'The just man shall live by faith.'"
Romans 1:17

It takes faith.
Have faith.
Look to Jesus.
He is the author of faith.
Live by faith.

(October 10, 2007 Wed 6:21 AM CDT)

"Then Jesus told them:
'Go into the whole world and
proclaim the good news to all creation.'"
Mark 16:15

There is good news to be heard.
It comes from Jesus who loves you.
He has many good things planned
for you and your life.
Become a new creation.

(October 9, 2007 Tue 6:13 AM CDT)

Jesus taught,
"Two women will be grinding meal;
one will be taken and one will be left.
Stay awake, therefore!
You cannot know the day your Lord is coming."
Matthew 24:41-42

Be alert.
Be ready.
Listen to Jesus.
Hear what he has to say.
Jesus will return one day.

(October 8, 2007 Mon 6:15 AM CDT)

It was very strange to read on the comic page about
Lisa Moore passing away on October 4th.
It is just a fictional character.
Bizarre.
It was too "real" ---
like the funeral home in yesterday's newspaper.
BTDT (Been there done that).

I found some rules about crossword puzzles yesterday.
The newspaper usually has the 15x15 size on weekdays
and 21x21 on Sundays.
I don't like it when they throw a number of words together.
(clue: "How fabulous!", answer: "ISNTTHATSWELL")

"If one of you is wise and understanding,
let him show this in practice
through a humility filled with good sense."
James 3:13

That is a good test.
Does it make sense?
Is it really swell or fabulous?
Does what you are doing make sense?
Seek the Lord.
He will show you what makes sense.
He will show you what is real.

(October 7, 2007 Sun 6:12 AM CDT)

Lately I have been studying crossword puzzles.
They are hard.
They make up words.
There are abbreviations.
They run multiple words together.
The clues are questionable.
(clue: "Good-bye lines?", answer: OBIT)
It is way harder than Sudoku puzzles.
I can't use my pen to work on them.
I always do Sudoku with a pen.
There are only 9 numbers not 26 letters.
It is a whole different world.

"As evening drew on,
his disciples came down to the lake.
They embarked, intending to cross
the lake toward Capernaum.
By this time it was dark,
and Jesus had still not joined them;
moreover, with a strong wind blowing,
the sea was becoming rough.
Finally, when then had rowed 3 or 4 miles,
they sighted Jesus approaching the boat,
walking on the water.
They were frightened, but he told them,
'It is I; do not be afraid.'
They wanted to take him into the boat,
but suddenly it came aground
on the shore they had been approaching."
John 6:16-21

We are all worried about the storms of life.
Jesus surprises us.
He comes when we don't expect.
He helps us.
The crisis is over.
He gives us the answers.
Thank you, Jesus.

(October 6, 2007 Sat 9:09 AM CDT)

I'm writing this today on a Linux Red Hat 8.0 virtual machine
on a Windows XP computer running VMware Workstation 6.
It is "different" that is for sure.

Jesus said to them:
"What does the reign of God resemble?
To what shall I liken it?
It is like mustard seed
which a man took and planted in his garden.
It grew and became a large shrub and
the birds of the air
nested in its branches."
Luke 13:18-19

Your faith will grow.
It will surprise you.
The Lord will add to your growth.
You will set new record highs.

(October 5, 2007 Fri 7:58 AM CDT)

"We do not lose heart,
because our inner being is renewed each day
even though our body is being destroyed
at the same time."
2 Corinthians 4:16

The life of the Christian is one of renewal.
We are constantly changing.
God is drawing us closer to him.
Grace is changing us daily.
We have a new heart.

(October 4, 2007 Thu 6:15 AM CDT)

Happy Birthday, Cousin Ron.
God bless him and his family.

I had another sleep test at Lakeside Hospital
the night before last.
They put a CPAP machine on me
to help me breathe.

"Whenever you pray,
go to your room,
close the door,
and pray to your Father in private."
Matthew 6:6

It is wonderful to go to church on Sunday
and pray with all the people there.
You should also have a time of daily prayer
at home or in your dorm or apartment.
It is just you and your Father --- one on one.
Talk to him.
Ask him questions.
Listen to his answers.
He is there for you.

(October 2, 2007 Tue 6:16 AM CDT)

"Come to him, a living stone,
rejected by men but approved, nonetheless,
and precious in God's eyes.
You too are living stones,
built as an edifice of spirit,
into a holy priesthood,
offering spiritual sacrifices
acceptable to God
through Jesus Christ."
1 Peter 2:4-5

Build something beautiful with your life.
You are part of the structure.
Every stone counts.
Do your part.
Offer your life to God.

(October 1, 2007 Mon 6:26 AM CDT)

"On their way out
they met a Cyrenian named Simon.
This man they pressed into service
to carry the cross."
Matthew 27:32

Why do they know Simon's name?
They could have just said "a man" helped carry the cross.
I imagine Simon learned a lot about Jesus
after this incident and became a believer.
It changed his life.
He was just someone standing in the crowd that day.
He was called to serve.
