God is love
Put your trust in Jesus

The time is now

Be born again

God is great

Love is all you need

(September 29, 2010 Wed 6:12 AM CDT)

There is so much happening
that I don't know where to begin.
Please, pray for a friend of mine
that is/was in the hospital.
God bless him and his family.

"I should like you to be free of all worries."
1 Corinthians 7:32

Trust in the Lord.
He has it all under control.
Give your troubles to him.
He can do amazing things.
Be open to his calling for you life.
Some people quit their jobs and
work for lower pay in service to their community.

(September 24, 2010 Fri 6:18 AM CDT)

(Update at 10:07 PM:
Today I met someone on the board of directors
of the B-Team in Buffalo, New York.
God bless them and all their efforts
to help the community there in Western New York.)

I need to write that article for October 3.
I will make it a priority today.

"I continually thank my God for you
because of the favor he has
bestowed on you in Christ Jesus,
in whom you have been richly endowed
with every gift of speech and knowledge."
1 Corinthians 1:4-5

Give thanks.
God is good.
God is very good.
You have been blessed.
Thank the Lord.

Yesterday I had a thought about
getting dressed up for work in a suit and tie.
I would wear the suit I bought when I turned 50.
It was very expensive.
They will probably bury me in that suit.
I changed my mind and did not do it.
When I got to work around 9:30 AM
there was crowd of people at one door inside.
Someone important was talking.
It turned out to be the head guy of the company.
He was in town to give some talks.
I signed up to hear him in a lottery but was not picked.
I went in a different door.
That is what happens
when you are "nobody" in a company like me.
He is at the top and I'm at the bottom.
It would have been cool to shake his hand and say
"Welcome to Omaha."
I will just have to send him an email.
Many of the people I talk to on the phones are at the top.
They own the business.
They have great job security.
They can't lose their job.
Today is my friend Patrick's birthday at work.
I would like to take him
to the UNL football game in Lincoln on Saturday.
I want him to see the 86,000 people all dressed in red.
It is something to see.
But... I have to work... it is very frustrating...
I applied for a day of vacation and it was not approved.
It is very tough being at the bottom.
I still need to learn more about humility apparently.

Jesus said,
"The Father loves me for this:
that I lay down my life
to take it up again.
No one takes it from me;
I lay it down freely.
I have power to lay it down,
and I have power to take it up again.
This command I received from my Father."
John 10:17-18

Where is power to be found?
Is it at the top or at the bottom?
The world thinks it is at the top.
Jesus says you must be a servant at the bottom.
Things are flipped.

Yesterday on the front page of the NY Times
was a story on Haiti.
It talked about Marjorie Saint Hilaire.
She has 3 sons.
She is hurting.
She and her family are in great need.
I wonder what I can do to help her.
I try to remember to pray for Haiti
each morning so they can rebuild their country.

(September 20, 2010 Mon 8:13 AM CDT)

This morning I'm looking at the advertising rates
in the NY Times .
They cost a fortune.
But you reach thousands of people across the USA.
It is very expensive.
Maybe $169K for a full-page Sunday nationwide advertisement.

At church yesterday the pastor asked the question:
would we sell everything and give it to the poor?
It would be very hard to do.
I have a lot of things.

"Then Jesus looked at him with love and told him,
'There is one thing more you must do.
Go and sell what you have and give to the poor;
you will then have treasure in heaven.
After that, come and follow me.'"
Mark 10:21

The person walked away.
You wonder if he returned years later.
It will be interesting to find out what happened to him
when we get to heaven.
One day...
we will learn...
the rest of the story...
yes, we will...

(September 18, 2010 Sat 9:04 AM CDT)

On October 17 we will reprint this in the newspaper.
Pray for everyone that will read it.
Now Is The Time

"First of all, I urge that petitions, prayers,
intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered for all men,
especially for kings and those in authority,
that we may be able to lead undisturbed and
tranquil lives in perfect piety and dignity."
1 Timothy 2:1-2

Pray for the leaders where you are.
Pray for the President of the USA or your country.
They need the wisdom of God.
We need peace on earth.

(September 17, 2010 Fri 7:24 AM CDT)

I'm thinking about going to NYC on 10.10.10.
I wonder if I will be there.
It would be an adventure.

"If one of you is wise and understanding,
let him show this in practice
through a humility filled with good sense."
James 3:13

What is true wisdom?
Where does it come from?
Seek the Lord.
Ask him for wisdom.
Ask him for a pure heart to see the truth.

(September 15, 2010 Wed 8:34 AM CDT)

This keeps coming up in my life over and over.
Both days when I met Lauri after 10+ years
this was the Bible reading at church.
It was two different churches on two different days.

"Your attitude must me that of Christ:
Though he was in the form of God,
he did not deem equality with God
something to be grasped at.
Rather, he emptied himself
and took the form of a slave,
being born in the likeness of men."
Philippians 2:5-7

Over and over.
We need to work on humility.
The glory goes to the Lord.
He is THE one.
There is no other.

(September 14, 2010 Tue 10:35 AM CDT)

I just had breakfast with my friend Lauri.
I met her friends Roxanne and Jeff.
God bless all of them.

"It is not the man who recommends himself
who is approved
but the man whom the Lord recommends."
2 Corinthians 10:18

Look to the Lord for approval.
Only he can see the whole picture.
Pray to be a humble servant.
There is so much to learn.
Pray often.

This is from my Facebook page this morning:

The "movie" continues... Yesterday afternoon I went to Plattsmouth, Nebraska. It is about 30 minutes south of Omaha. I went to see where a church was that my Facebook friend Marc attends. I did not have my camera with me. I did not go in. I just wanted to see it for myself. Then at about 6:30 PM I was at 39 and Burt in Omaha. I was right in front of where I went to high school. Several of my Facebook friends also went to school there. It is not a school anymore. Someone was yelling to me. They had a red gas can. They had run out of gas. They said something about Plattsmouth. Interesting I was just there a few hours ago. They had been begging for money and no one would give them a dime. I usually do not help people on the street that ask me for money but he said Plattsmouth. It was unreal. I pointed to the buildings and I told him I went to grade school there and went to high school there. My car was parked on Adam Herold Street. You can see a picture of the street here . His name was Jerry/Gerry. He works at Pizza Hut near 50 and L. He needed a shower. He got in my car. This is very unusual for me. I never pick up hitchhikers or anything like that. He joked that he used to own a car like mine. I told him that my car is 14 years old. The cassette tape started to play and I turned it off. I was listening to a copy of Briege McKenna's talk from 12-12-1981 at Creighton University. I gave him the tape. I asked him if he had a cassette tape player. He had one somewhere to listen to it. Maybe he will listen to it. Maybe not. I told him that Briege was given the gift of healing by God. She did not want the gift. You laugh as you hear what she says. She was given a tremendous gift and wanted nothing to do with it. Anyway I took him to the BP gas station at 40 and Dodge and he filled up his gas can. I'm looking at the receipt here. It says: 2.026 gallons at 6:42 PM. He said it was his 4-year old son's birthday and he had no money to buy him a present. I took him to his car near 41 and Hamilton. I told him I used to ride chartered bus #72 to grade school on this very street. I told him to come back to the BP station and I would fill up the tank on his car. I went back to the BP station and waited for about 15 minutes. He never came. I wonder if he will listen to the tape. (Note: I went to school with 16% of my Facebook friends. They are well represented.) (Note: there is a Pizza Hut at 4925 L St, Omaha, NE (402) 731-6131. I told him that I liked Valentinos or Godfathers pizza better.)

This is like prophecy but not quite.
It is very interesting.

"Be on guard, therefore.
Do not forget that for 3 years, night and day,
I never ceased warning you individually
even to the point of tears."
Acts 20:31

Guard your faith.
Hold fast to what you believe.
You will be tested.
Call on the Holy Spirit for wisdom
to know what to do.

(September 11, 2010 Sat 9:08 AM CDT)

We remember all the many people that died 9 years ago.
May God comfort their family and friends.

This is in many crossword puzzles.

"Jesus performed this first of his signs
at Cana in Galilee.
Thus did he reveal his glory,
and his disciples believed in him."
John 2:11

Jesus worked miracles.
He amazed people.
He had power.
He talked with authority.
See what he did.
Read what he had to say.
It is right there in your Bible.
Check it out.

(September 9, 2010 Thu 7:47 AM CDT)

Many wonderful things are happening.
God is working in the lives of people near me.
It is amazing to watch.

Jesus taught,
"I assure you
that whoever does not accept
the reign of God
like a little child
shall not take part in it."
Mark 10:15

It takes faith.
It takes trust.
You are the child.
He is your Father.
Talk to him often.

(September 7, 2010 Tue 6:18 AM CDT)

Yesterday at 1:50 PM I saw a car going
westbound on West Dodge Road past the Westroads Mall.
The license plate said: DAVIS 1
One of my best friends has the last name Davis.
I wonder if they are related.

Yesterday around 2:15 PM I was driving south
on 72 Street into Sarpy County.
The street names in sequence
are Josephine, Joseph and James.
I was headed to the Walmart just east and south of
Cornhusker and Hwy 75 in Bellevue.

"See how tiny the spark is
that sets a huge forest ablaze!"
James 3:5

Watch what you say.
Stop and think.
Count to 10.
Ask the Lord for the correct words to say.

(September 6, 2010 Mon 6:14 AM CDT)

I heard this at church yesterday
near 156 and West Dodge Road.

"All Scripture is inspired of God
and is useful for teaching ---
for reproof, correction, and
training in holiness
so that the man of God
may be fully competent and
equipped for every good work."
2 Timothy 3:16-17

Read the Bible.
It is that simple.
Study God's word.
He is the author.
Each day read what he has to say.
Take his word for it.

(September 2, 2010 Thu 6:17 AM CDT)

"At that the whole assembly fell silent.
They listened to Barnabas and Paul
as the two described all the signs
and wonders God had worked
among the Gentiles through them."
Acts 15:12

They were speechless.
It is amazing what God can do.
It is amazing what God is doing.
See the wonders of the Lord.
God is changing lives.

(September 1, 2010 Wed 7:22 AM CDT)

It is a new month.
As each month passes I wonder what will happen next.
It is very interesting to see things evolve
(if that is the word).
How is God moving in people's lives?

Here we go again...

"Bow humbly under God's mighty hand,
so that in due time he many lift you high.
Cast all your cares on him
because he cares for you."
1 Peter 5:6-7

I must need help.
Over and over I see things on humility.
I must not "get it."
I must not be paying attention
to what God is trying to teach me.
Pray for me.
