December, 2012

Praise the Lord
Give thanks to God

God is good

Live for Jesus

The Lord will forgive you

Sing for joy

(December 31, 2012 Mon 6:42 AM CST)

"They have refreshed my spirit as they did yours.
You should recognize the worth of such men."
1 Corinthians 16:18

Be a refreshing soul.
Be a bright light.
Be a positive influence.
God bless your efforts in the new year.

(December 29, 2012 Sat 8:33 AM CST)

"See, I write to you
in my own large handwriting!"
Galatians 6:11

Write an e-mail or letter of encouragement to someone.
Give someone a compliment.
Send a Thank You for a gift you have received.
It will make someone's day.

(December 28, 2012 Fri 6:34 AM CST)

"But God is rich in mercy;
because of his great love for us
he brought us to life with Christ
when we were dead in sin.
By this favor you were saved."
Ephesians 2:4-5

Call on the mercy of Christ.
He is most generous.
Ask him to forgive your sins.
Find new life with him.
Start the new year right.

(December 26, 2012 Wed 6:58 AM CST)

"May the Lord rule your hearts
in the love of God and
the constancy of Christ."
2 Thessalonians 3:5

It is a battle for your heart.
Who will win?
Will it be good or evil?
Give your heart to Christ.

(December 25, 2012 Tue 7:34 AM CST)

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

"Suddenly, there was with the angel
a multitude of the heavenly host,
praising God and saying,
'Glory to God in the high heaven,
peace on earth to those whom his favor rests.'"
Luke 2:13-14

The Lord comes suddenly into your life.
It will surprise you.
It is a time of joy.
Just imagine all those angels singing at his birth.
Find peace on this Christmas Day.

(December 24, 2012 Mon 7:14 AM CST)

I was humming this song earlier today:
Hark the Herald Angels Sing
Christmas is near.

Jesus said:
"I solemnly assure you,
the man who hears my word
and has faith in him who sent me
possesses eternal life."
John 5:24

Listen to what Jesus has to say.
Let it change your life.
Have faith.
Believe and live.
Sing with the angels for joy.

(December 22, 2012 Sat 9:12 AM CST)

We are still here.
The world did not end --- yet.
We still might go off the cliff .

Sometimes people ask me:
Are you ready for Christmas?
It is a good question.

"God's gifts and his call are irrevocable."
Romans 11:29

God has made promises.
They are gifts to you.
You are his son/daughter.
He is most generous.
If you call on his name,
he will save you.
He is calling you to holiness/wholeness.
Respond to his grace.

(December 21, 2012 Fri 6:26 AM CST)

Welcome to the "End of the world" day.

We received about 6 inches of snow on Wednesday.
We are only 8 inches behind on the normal rainfall now.
Thank the Lord for the moisture.

Christmas is near.
Prepare a place in your heart.

"Therefore, since we for our part are surrounded
by the cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every encumbrance of sin
which clings to us and persevere in running
the race which lies ahead;
let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus,
who inspires and perfects our faith."
Hebrews 12:1-2

There is a reason for this season.
It is Jesus.
Keep your focus on him.
Worship him.
He will inspire you.
Your faith will grow.

(December 17, 2012 Mon 6:23 AM CST)

"O Lord of host, restore us;
if your face shine upon us
then we shall be safe."
Psalms 80:19 or 20

Lord, we call on you today.
Protect us and our families from harm.
We trust in you.
We rely on you.
Keep us safe in your arms.

(December 16, 2012 Sun 6:38 AM CST)

It is very sad when you drive around Omaha
and see the flags at half-staff.

"Jesus sent these men on mission as the Twelve,
after giving them the following instructions:
'Do not visit pagan territory and
do not enter a Samaritan town.
Go instead after the lost sheep
of the house of Israel.
As you go, make this announcement:
The reign of God is at hand!'"
Matthew 10:5-7

You have a mission.
You are being sent.
Go find the lost and tell them the good news.
The reign of God is here.

(December 15, 2012 Sat 8:03 AM CST)

We pray for the people in Connecticut .
It is very sad.
God be near them and comfort them today.

"By means of many such parables
he taught them the message
in a way they could understand.
To them he spoke only by way of parable,
while he kept explaining things privately
to his disciples."
Mark 4:33-34

Jesus spoke in parables.
Read his parables.
See what they say.
They give much insight into the Lord.
He does not think like us.
Study his ways.
Pray to him for understanding.

(December 14, 2012 Fri 6:38 AM CST)

"Many have undertaken
to compile a narrative of the events
which have been fulfilled in our midst,
precisely as those events were transmitted to us
by the original eyewitnesses and
ministers of the word."
Luke 1:1-2

There were many eyewitnesses.
They wanted to write these events down.
They are there for your benefit.
Read what they said in the Bible.

(December 13, 2012 Thu 9:56 AM CST)

"Pilate's next move was to take Jesus
and have him scourged.
The soldiers then wove a crown of thorns
and fixed it on his head,
throwing around his shoulders
a cloak of royal purple.
Repeatedly they came up to him and said,
'All hail, king of the Jews!',
slapping his face as they did so."
John 19:1-3

Jesus suffered much for our sins.
He was innocent.
He never sinned.
We have a true friend in Jesus.

(December 12, 2012 Wed 6:53 AM CST)

It's 12-12-12.
I imagine many people will get married today,
as on 10-10-10 and 11-11-11.
God bless them.

"The body is one and has many members,
but all the members,
many though they are, are one body;
and so it is with Christ."
1 Corinthians 12:12

We are all in it together.
Let us work side by side.
We will build the kingdom of God.
We are one in Jesus Christ.

(December 10, 2012 Mon 6:34 AM CST)

"Those in the community who had been dispersed
by the persecution that arose because of Stephen
went as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch,
making the message known to none but Jews.
However, some men of Cyprus and Cyrene
among them who had come to Antioch
began to talk even to the Greeks,
announcing the good news
of the Lord Jesus to them."
Acts 11:19-20

The persecution was a terrible thing.
Many people died.
And yet --- good can come from bad things.
The word of God spread to other cities.
You think of Hurricane Sandy and its destruction.
But then you think of all the people helping
the people hurt by the hurricane.
It is an opportunity to help.
Be open to spreading good news.

(December 8, 2012 Sat 8:41 AM CST)

"We brought nothing into this world,
nor have we the power to take anything out.
If we have food and clothing
we have all that we need."
1 Timothy 6:7-8

What do you need?
I mean really --- what do you need?
Water, food, clothing, a place to stay, etc.
I would say most of us in the USA have
*way* too many things.
We keep buying more stuff.
Thank the Lord for his many blessings.

(December 7, 2012 Fri 6:34 AM CST)

Jesus told a story:
"What do you think of this case?
There was a man who had two sons.
He approached the elder and said,
'Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.'
The son replied, 'I am on my way, sir';
but he never went.
Then the man came to his second son
and said the same thing.
This son said in reply, 'No, I will not';
but afterward he regretted it and went.
Which of the two did what the father wanted?"
Matthew 21:28-31

What do you think?
Who did the right thing?
When God asks you to do something
do you do it or not?
Which son/daughter are you?
Even if you say 'No' initially,
later you can say 'Yes'
to what the Lord asks of you.

(December 5, 2012 Wed 6:28 AM CST)

"The child's father and mother were marveling
at what was being said about him."
Luke 2:33

Jesus was an amazing child.
People were expecting him.
They had been waiting for many years.
Come, Lord Jesus.

(December 3, 2012 Mon 6:40 AM CST)

I have read stories that the Great Lakes,
Mississippi and Missouri Rivers are very low.
We are in a severe drought.

"All through this, Simon Peter had been
standing there warming himself.
They said to him,
'Are you not a disciple of his?'
He denied it and said, 'I am not!'"
John 18:25

Don't deny it.
You know Jesus.
You know his saving power.
Share what you know.

(December 2, 2012 Sun 6:34 AM CST)

We begin Advent today.
It is a journey of faith.

Jesus said to Thomas:
"Do not persist in your unbelief, but believe."
John 20:27

You have to change your direction.
Go toward the light of Christ.
He is your source of happiness.
He is your salvation.
Believe in him.

(December 1, 2012 Sat 8:53 AM CST)

What would you do with $192 million ?
You could help a lot of people that are in need.
It is fun to think about it.
Sometimes I think that the things you say you would do
are possible to do without winning the lottery.
For example maybe you want to build a new building
to shelter the homeless people in your city.
It is possible to do that with some effort on your part
to raise the money for the project.
If God wants you to do it, you could do it.
You don't need to win the lottery ---
you just need the inspiration of God.

"On our arrival in Jerusalem,
the brothers there gave us a warm welcome."
Acts 21:17

The Lord will move you.
You will be led to people.
The Lord puts them on your mind.
Check up on them.
Call them.
Spend time with them.
Be of service to them.
