"Have no love for the world,
nor the things that the world affords.
If anyone love the world,
the Father's love has no place in him,
for nothing that the world affords
comes from the Father.
Carnal allurements, enticements for the eye,
the life of empty show ---
all these are from the world.
And the world with its seductions is passing away
but the man who does God's will endures forever."
1 John 2:15-17

Don't hold on too tight.
Let go of your possessions.
Give many things away.
You don't need the new
house, car, clothes, whatever, etc.
They are distractions.
Look to the Lord.
Look up.
See the glory of God.
Serve only him.
Keep your eye on him.

Jesus said,
"Say 'Yes' when you mean 'Yes' and
'No' when you mean 'No.'
Anything beyond that is from the evil one."
Matthew 5:37

Speak the truth.
Be honest.
Stay silent if you need to be.
Lies come from the evil one.
Truly.

(April 26, 2013 Fri 6:57 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"...blest are they who hear
the word of God and keep it."
Luke 11:28

Read the Bible.
See what Jesus said.
Do what he said to do.
Visit the sick.
Feed the poor.
Love your neighbor.
Forgive others.
Do what is right.
Be holy.
Pray daily.
Worship the Lord.
Think about him often.
Give thanks.
Tell others about him.
Be a witness.
Have hope.
Be joyful.
Be faithful.
Follow him.
Keep your word.

"We know that affliction makes for endurance,
and endurance for tested virtue,
and tested virtue for hope.
And this hope will not leave us disappointed,
because the love of God has been poured out
in our hearts through the Holy Spirit
who has been given to us."
Romans 5:3-5

You will suffer.
You will have trials.
It will not be easy.
The Lord is with you.
He is your strength.

I'm afraid to look at the news this morning.
We have had so much bad news lately.

"Herod was extremely pleased to see Jesus.
From the reports about him
he had wanted for a long time to see him,
and he was hoping to see him work some miracle.
He questioned Jesus at considerable length,
but Jesus made no answer."
Luke 23:8-9

Herod was so close and yet so far away.
He could literally reach out and touch Jesus.
It takes faith to believe.
It takes faith to see the truth.
It is more than miracles.
It is life itself.
Come and find true life in Jesus.

(April 20, 2013 Sat 9:04 AM CDT)

"It is rare that anyone should lay down
his life for a just man,
though it is barely possible
that for a good man
someone may have the courage to die.
It is precisely in this
that God proves his love for us:
that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us."
Romans 5:7-8

God is very thoughtful.
He loves us very much.
He has done amazing things for us.
How will you respond to this love?
Open your heart.

"Some men came along carrying a paralytic on a mat.
They were trying to bring him in and
lay him before Jesus; but they found no way
of getting him through because of the crowd,
so they went up on the roof.
There they let him down with his mat
through the tiles into the middle
of the crowd before Jesus."
Luke 5:18-20

Bring your friends to Jesus.
Bring your family to Jesus.
Make an effort.
There is joy to be found.
God bless you as we pray
for all those in Boston that are hurting.

(April 15, 2013 Mon 6:53 AM CDT)

This is from the wake yesterday afternoon.

"For though the fig tree blossom not
nor fruit be on the vines,
Though the yield of the olive fail
and the terraces produce no nourishment,
Though the flocks disappear from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
Yet will I rejoice in the Lord
and exult in my saving God.
God, my Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet swift as those of hinds
and enables me to go upon the heights."
Habakkuk 3:17-19

Mike loved Jesus.
He served the Lord at the Open Door Mission.
He read the Bible and
led a Bible study for young people.
He sang in the choir at church.
He was "the man who could not move."
He had ALS.
God bless him and all his family.
We will miss him.

(April 13, 2013 Sat 9:26 AM CDT)

"Therefore, holy brothers
who share a heavenly calling,
fix your eyes on Jesus,
the apostle and high priest
whom we acknowledge in faith,
who was faithful to him who appointed him."
Hebrews 3:1-2

Focus on Jesus.
He is your leader.
He will show you the path to life.
Be faithful to him all the days of your life.

(April 12, 2013 Fri 6:50 AM CDT)

"Then, taking the five loaves and the two fish,
Jesus raised his eyes to heaven,
pronounced a blessing over them, broke them,
and gave them to his disciples
for distribution to the crowd.
They all ate until they had enough.
What they had left, over and above,
filled twelve baskets."
Luke 9:16-17

God is very generous.
He is very thoughtful.
He is concerned with your life.
He will provide you with all that you need.
Go to him.
You are his child.
Over and above.

(April 10, 2013 Wed 6:57 AM CDT)

We had 1/2 inch hail last night at my house.
I posted a picture on Facebook.
Not sure if you can see it or not.
I don't thing you can.

(April 8, 2013 Mon 6:56 AM CDT)

Thomas said,
"I will never believe it
without probing the nailprints in his hands,
without putting my finger in the nailmarks,
and my hand into his side."
John 20:25

Thomas doubted.
He did not believe Jesus was raised from the dead.
He wanted proof that he could see and touch.
Jesus said to him,
"Blest are they who have not seen
and have believed." (verse 29)
Believe it.

(April 6, 2013 Sat 9:23 AM CDT)

I found out last night at a party
that someone I used to work with
has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments.
God bless him and heal him.
Pray for him and his family.

"Jesus had to pass through Samaria,
and his journey brought him to
a Samaritan town named Shechem
near the plot of land which Jacob
had given to his son Joseph.
This was the site of Jacob's well.
Jesus, tired from his journey,
sat down at the well."
John 4:4-6

Come to the well.
Come and rest.
Talk to Jesus while you are there.
Learn from him.
Give him all your concerns.

(April 3, 2013 Wed 6:51 AM CDT)

"Jesus told Martha:
'I am the resurrection and the life;
whoever believes in me,
though he should die, will come to life;
and whoever is alive and
believes in me will never die.
Do you believe this?'
'Yes, Lord,' she replied."
John 11:25-27

Jesus died and rose from the dead.
Do you believe this?
It takes faith.
He is God.
Trust in him.
Believe in Jesus.

(April 1, 2013 Mon 6:53 AM CDT)

It was interesting to see The Bible last night.
Stephen was the first martyr for the faith.

"Those who listened to his words were stung to the heart;
they ground their teeth in anger at him.
Stephen meanwhile, filled with the Holy Spirit,
looked to the sky above and saw the glory of God,
and Jesus standing at God's right hand."
Acts 7:54-55

Stand up for the faith.
Say what you believe.
You will see the glory of God.
The Holy Spirit will give you the words to say.
