(May 31, 2013 Fri 6:50 AM CDT)

"Be filled with the Spirit,
addressing one another in psalms
and hymns and inspired songs.
Sing praise to the Lord
with all your hearts.
Give thanks to God the Father
always and for everything
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Ephesians 5:18-20

Sing with the Spirit.
Give praise to the Father.
Give thanks for all that you have.
Be an inspiration.

(May 29, 2013 Wed 7:01 AM CDT)

"Continue, therefore,
to live in Christ Jesus the Lord,
in the spirit in which you received him.
Be rooted in him and built up in him,
growing ever stronger in faith,
as you were taught,
and overflowing with gratitude."
Colossians 2:6-7

Life continues.
Each day is a challenge.
Take time for prayer.
You need that contact with the infinite.
Have an attitude of gratitude.

(May 27, 2013 Mon 7:18 AM CDT)

The sirens were going off at 2 AM here in Omaha
for a storm warning.
There was no tornado just strong wind.

"At dawn let me hear of your kindness,
for in you I trust.
Show me the way in which I should walk,
for to you I lift up my soul.
Rescue me from my enemies, O Lord,
for in you I hope.
Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God."
Psalms 143:8-10

It is dawn.
It is a new day.
The storm has passed.
Ask the Lord to rescue you from your enemies.
He is your strength in times of need.
He is your teacher.

(May 26, 2013 Sun 7:59 PM CDT)

The mother of someone I used to work with
a few years ago has passed away.
Pray for all their family.
God bless them in their sorrow and loss.

"For two full years Paul
stayed on in his rented lodgings,
welcoming all who came to him.
With full assurance,
and without any hindrance whatever,
he preached the reign of God and
taught about the Lord Jesus Christ."
Acts 28:30-31

Paul was under house arrest.
He could not go anywhere.
He used his situation to preach about Jesus.
Make the most of every opportunity
to spread the good news.

(May 25, 2013 Sat 9:40 AM CDT)

"We brought nothing into this world,
nor have we the power to take anything out.
If we have food and clothing
we have all that we need.
Those who want to be rich
are falling into temptation and a trap.
They are letting themselves be captured
by foolish and harmful desires
which drag men down to ruin and destruction.
The love of money is the root of all evil.
Some men in their passion for it
have strayed from the faith,
and have come to grief amid great pain."
1 Timothy 6:7-10

Really... what do you need in this life?
Food, clothing and a place to stay...
All the rest of the things can be a big distraction.
Check yourself.
What are you seeking?
What are your desires?
Seek the Lord.
Follow him alone.

(May 22, 2013 Wed 6:58 AM CDT)

"They will fight against the Lamb
but the Lamb will conquer them,
for he is the Lord of lords
and the King of kings;
victorious, too, will be his followers ---
the ones who were called:
the chosen and the faithful."
Revelation 17:14

Your victory is in Christ.
He is the one.
He has all power and knowledge.
Be a winner.

(May 20, 2013 Mon 8:15 AM CDT)

"As he made his way along the Sea of Galilee,
he observed Simon and his brother Andrew
casting their nets into the sea;
they were fisherman.
Jesus said to them,
'Come after me; I will make you fishers of men.'
They immediately abandoned their nets
and became his followers."
Mark 1:16-17

Could you do that ---
abandon everything and follow Jesus?
It is something to think about.
Imagine that.

(May 19, 2013 Sun 6:21 AM CDT)

Happy Pentecost Sunday!
We pray for the coming of the Holy Spirit.
Come and renew the face of the earth.

"When the day of Pentecost came
it found them gathered in one place.
Suddenly from up in the sky
there came a noise
like a strong, driving wind
which was heard all through the house
where they were seated.
Tongues as of fire appeared, which parted
and came to rest on each of them.
All were filled with the Holy Spirit.
They began to express themselves in foreign tongues
and make bold proclamation
as the Spirit prompted them."
Acts 2:1-4

The Spirit is given to you.
Receive the gifts of the Spirit.
Make known the good news of Jesus.
Let the world know he is alive.

(May 18, 2013 Sat 9:00 AM CDT)

"When Jesus heard this,
he withdrew by boat from there
to a deserted place by himself."
Matthew 14:13

Jesus had just heard that John the Baptist was beheaded.
John died for his faith.
It must have been a great shock to Jesus.
He had known John all his life.
Jesus feels our pain.

(May 17, 2013 Fri 7:06 AM CDT)

I saw Doctor Townley yesterday.
He was in Boston running
the marathon at mile 21
a few weeks ago.
My eye pressure is 18 and 18.
That is much better.
Thank the Lord.

"Jesus said to her then,
'Your sins are forgiven';
at which his fellow guests
began to ask among themselves,
'Who is this that he even forgives sins?'
Meanwhile he said to the woman,
'Your faith has been your salvation.
Now go in peace.'"
Luke 7:48-50

We do make mistakes.
We do commit sins.
Ask Jesus to forgive you.
Go in peace.

(May 15, 2013 Wed 7:02 AM CDT)

Today is the funeral for my neighbor.
God be with them and comfort them
as they say goodbye to their mom.
Mother's Day was only a few days ago.

Jesus said,
"If anyone thirsts, let him come to me;
let him drink who believes in me.
Scripture has it:
'From within him rivers of living water shall flow.'"
John 7:37-38

Go to Jesus.
He will refresh you.
He will renew your life.
He is the source.

(May 13, 2013 Mon 6:59 AM CDT)

This week many people around the world are praying
for the coming of the Holy Spirit on Sunday, May 19.

Jesus said,
"You will receive power
when the Holy Spirit comes down on you;
then you are to be my witnesses in Jerusalem,
throughout Judea and Samaria, yes,
even to the ends of the earth."
Acts 1:8

The Holy Spirit gives you gifts.
You will be a witness to the truth.
Jesus is proclaimed.
The earth is renewed.
Come, Holy Spirit.

(May 11, 2013 Sat 8:48 AM CDT)

"Ever since we heard this
we have been praying for you unceasingly
and asking that you may attain
full knowledge of his will
through perfect wisdom and spiritual insight.
Then you will lead a life worthy of the Lord
and pleasing to him in every way."
Colossians 1:9-10

What does the Lord ask of you?
What is his will for your life?
Ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and understanding.
Be led by the Holy Spirit.

(May 10, 2013 Fri 6:46 AM CDT)

I learned yesterday that my neighbor passed away.
Pray for her and her family.
God be with them.

"Never act out of rivalry or conceit;
rather, let all parties think humbly of others
as superior to themselves,
each of you looking to others' interests
rather than to his own.
Your attitude must be that of Christ..."
Philippians 2:3-5

Be of service.
Think of others.
Help them.
God will bless your efforts.

(May 8, 2013 Wed 7:04 AM CDT)

"No sooner had Jesus said this
than he was lifted up
before their eyes in a cloud
which took him from their sight."
Acts 1:9

You wonder why Jesus did not stay around.
He appeared for many days to about 500 people
after he was raised from the dead
then he returned to heaven.
He knows what is best.
We trust in him.
A few days after this he sent the Holy Spirit.

(May 6, 2013 Mon 6:53 AM CDT)

"This Spirit he lavished on us
through Jesus Christ our Savior,
that we might be justified by his grace
and become heirs, in hope, of eternal life.
You can depend on this to be true."
Titus 3:6-8

Welcome the Holy Spirit.
Invite him into your life.
Receive his grace and blessings.
You can depend on this.
It is true.

(May 4, 2013 Sat 9:06 AM CDT)

We got snow on May 2nd in Omaha.
It is all gone now.
The tulips and daffodils keeled over.
Crazy weather.

"The Spirit instructed me
to accompany them without hesitation.
These six brothers came along with me,
and we entered the man's house.
He informed us that he had seen
an angel standing in his house
and that the angel had said:
'Send someone to Joppa and fetch Simon,
known also as Peter.
In the light of what he will tell you,
you shall be saved, and all your household.'"
Acts 11:12-14

Witness the miracles.
See the light.
Listen to the Spirit.
You and your family will be saved.

(May 1, 2013 Wed 7:02 AM CDT)

Yesterday I bought a bag of grass seeds
and used the spreader to put them
on my backyard which is about 20% dead
from the drought last year.

"A man will reap only what he sows.
If he sows in the field of the flesh,
he will reap a harvest of corruption;
but if his seed-ground is in the spirit,
he will reap everlasting life.
Let us not grow weary of doing good;
if we do not relax our efforts,
in due time we shall reap our harvest."
Galatians 6:7-9

Plant the seeds of faith.
Spread the word.
Do not relax.
There is work to be done.
Reap an abundant harvest.
