June 1 to 30, 1997

God's love is all you need
Keep your eyes on Jesus

All good gifts come from above

Bless the Lord O my soul

Be watchful and waiting

Give praise to God

(June 30, 1997 6:26 AM CDT)

Yesterday afternoon we had storms
and winds pass through the area.
There was a tornado north of here
near Ames, Nebraska.
It did not cause any damage.
The temperature dropped from 87 F
to 68 F in just a few minutes.
The clouds were something to see.

"When the day of Pentecost came
it found them gathered in one place.
Suddenly from up in the sky there came
a noise like a strong, driving wind
which was heard all through the house
where they were seated.
Tongues as of fire appeared,
which parted and come
to rest on each of them.
All were filled with the Holy Spirit.
They began to express themselves in
foreign tongues and make bold proclamation
as the Spirit prompted them."
Acts 2:1-4

Today we pray for a fresh wind.
Come Holy Spirit and renew us.
Come in power to strengthen us.
Give us wisdom and power and understanding.
Help us to breath in new life.
Help us to speak out to those in need.
Come Spirit of life.

(June 29, 1997 6:51 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Father, forgive them;
they do not know
what they are doing."
Luke 23:34

Jesus was on the cross
and forgave the people
who were killing him.
This is something to think about.
This is an example for us.
Let us forgive one another
as Jesus has showed us.
No matter what anyone has
done to us, we must forgive them.
You might want to read
"Now Is The Time" .

(June 28, 1997 6:29 AM CDT)

"Continue, therefore,
to live in Christ Jesus the Lord,
in the spirit in which you received him.
Be rooted in him and built up in him,
growing ever stronger in faith,
as you were taught,
and overflowing with gratitude.
See to it that no one deceives you
through any empty, seductive philosophy
that follows mere human traditions,
a philosophy based on cosmic powers
rather than on Christ."
Colossians 2:6-8

May your faith in Jesus increase each day.
Be glad and rejoice in this.

(June 27, 1997 6:27 AM CDT)

"The plan of the Lord
stands forever;
the design of his heart,
through all generations.
Happy the nation whose God
is the Lord,
the people he has chosen
for his own inheritance."
Psalms 33:11-12

Yes, Lord your plan is perfect.
You have made us.
We are yours.
Accomplish great works in us
today.

(June 24, 1997 7:21 AM CDT)

It's raining in Omaha this morning.

"The spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
because the Lord has anointed me;
He has sent me to bring
glad tidings to the lowly,
to heal the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives
and release to the prisoners,
to announce a year of favor from the Lord
and a day of vindication by our God,
to comfort all who mourn..."
Isaiah 61:1-2

Jesus read these words one day
to the people.
Jesus will heal your broken heart.
Jesus will set you free from sin.
Jesus will bless you this year.
Jesus will comfort you.
Jesus brings you good news.

(June 23, 1997 6:26 AM CDT)

Lately it has been around 90 F degrees.
It is summertime.
When you are just walking outside
you get thirsty and hot.

Jesus said,
"If anyone thirsts,
let him come to me;
let him drink who believes in me.
Scripture has it:
'From within him rivers of
living water shall flow.'"
John 7:37-38

Ask the Lord Jesus and
he will pour out
his Holy Spirit on you.
Come Holy Spirit.
All you have to do is ask.

(June 22, 1997 7:05 AM CDT)

The people who run Mission Possible were in Omaha yesterday. Today they head home to Deerfield Beach, Florida. Pray they have a safe trip. They help the poor in Peru . The children are so poor they cannot go to school. You need shoes and clothes to go to school. They ask people to sponsor a child for $20 per month, if you can help them help the poor.

(June 21, 1997 8:02 AM CDT)

A few days ago someone sent me
a short story titled
"Attitude Is Everything" .

Keep a positive attitude about life.
You have nothing to worry about.
God is in control.

Jesus said,
"Your heavenly Father knows
all that you need.
Seek first his kingship over you,
his way of holiness,
and all these things
will be given you besides.
Enough, then, of worrying about tomorrow.
Let tomorrow take care of itself.
Today has troubles enough of its own."
Matthew 6:32-34

(June 20, 1997 6:25 AM CDT)

"I will give thanks to the Lord
with all my heart
in the company and assembly
of the just.
Great are the works of the Lord
exquisite in all their delights.
Majesty and glory are his work,
and his justice endures forever."
Psalms 111:1-3

Yes, Lord, we say thanks
for your many blessings this day.

(June 19, 1997 6:26 AM CDT)

"He who sows sparingly
will reap sparingly,
and he who sows bountifully
will reap bountifully.
Everyone must give according
to what he has inwardly decided;
not sadly, nor grudgingly,
for God loves a cheerful giver.
God can nultiply his favors among you
so that you may always have enough
of everything and even a surplus
for good works."
2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Give to the Lord Jesus.
Give and it will be given to you.
Think of others more than yourself.
What can you do for someone else today?

(June 18, 1997 6:24 AM CDT)

"...a strong wind was blowing and
the sea was becoming rough.
Finally, when they had rowed 3 or 4 miles,
they sighted Jesus approaching the boat,
walking on the water.
They were frightened,
but he told them,
'It is I;
do not be afraid.'"
John 6:18-20

Jesus says that to you today:
'It is I; do not be afraid.'
No matter what is happening
in your life, he is there to save you.
He is there to help you.
Do not be afraid.

(June 17, 1997 6:24 AM CDT)

"I have fought the good fight,
I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith.
From now on a merited crown awaits me;
on that Day the Lord,
just judge that he is,
will award it to me ---
and not only me,
but to all who have looked
for his appearing with eager longing."
2 Timothy 4:7-8

Hopefully we can pray these same words
as St. Paul did.

(June 16, 1997 6:18 AM CDT)

Last evening we had continuous
thunder from the storms and rains
for at least 15 minutes.
It was different.

"I lift up my eyes toward the mountains,
whence shall help come to me?
My help is from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth."
Psalms 121:1-2

Call on the name of Jesus.
He will help you.
If he can keep track of
the billions and billions
of stars in the sky,
he can help you.

(June 15, 1997 7:30 AM CDT)

Happy Father's Day to my Dad!
God bless him.

"If anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation.
The old order has passed away;
now all is new!"
2 Corinthians 5:17

Change us, O Lord,
Make us a new creation.
Give us eternal life.

(June 14, 1997 8:29 AM CDT)

"Their unbelieving minds have been blinded
by the god of the present age
so that they do not see the splendor
of the gospel showing forth
the glory of Christ,
the image of God."
2 Corinthians 4:4

How blind we are!
Jesus, open our minds to the truth.
Show us the way to the Father.

We thank the Lord for the rain yesterday.
It was dry for about 2 weeks.
Send us your life giving water.

(June 13, 1997 6:26 AM CDT)

Offer up whatever you do today to the Lord.
May it give praise to God.
May all the words that you say
bring peace, hope and love.
May we learn more about Jesus today.
He is the beginning and end of everything.
Start and end your day with prayer.
Have a thankful heart.
Peace be with you.

(June 12, 1997 6:28 AM CDT)

"As Elijah and Elisha walked on
conversing, a flaming chariot
and flaming horses came
between them,
and Elijah went up to heaven
in a whirlwind."
2 Kings 2:11

Elijah did not die.
He was taken up to heaven.
You do not have to die either.
You can live forever in heaven
with Jesus.

(June 11, 1997 6:19 AM CDT)

"The Lord bless you and keep you!
The Lord let his face shine upon you,
and be gracious to you!
The Lord look upon you kindly
and give you peace!"
Numbers 6:24-26

Yes, God bless you today my friend.
God bless your family.

(June 10, 1997 6:20 AM CDT)

"Therefore, holy brothers
who share a heavenly calling,
fix your eyes on Jesus,
the apostle and high priest
whom we acknowledge in faith,
who was faithful to him
who appointed him."
Hebrews 3:1-2

Where are you looking?
Are you looking at yourself?
Are you looking at your problems?
Look to Jesus.
Place your faith and trust in him.
He will help you through it all.

Yesterday in downtown Omaha
we smelled a natual gas leak around 2 PM.
The fire alarm in the building
went off and we left the building.
We could still smell it outside the building.
Many people were standing on many sidewalks
on many streets.
It turned out to not be natural gas,
but just the odor that is added to natural gas.
A construction crew had broken open 2 small
tanks that contained traces of this odor.
It took the fire department a half hour
to figure out the source as they checked
many buildings.

(June 9, 1997 6:22 AM CDT)

Lately I have been reading about
Iceland .
The waterfalls and glaciers are beautiful.

(June 8, 1997 7:24 AM CDT)

"Praise the Lord in his sanctuary,
praise him in the firmament of his strength.
Praise him for his mighty deeds,
praise him for his sovereign majesty.
Praise him with the blast of the trumpet,
praise him with lyre and harp.
Let everything that has breath
praise the Lord!
Alleluia."
Psalms 150:1,2,3,6

It is the Lord's day.
Let us give him all
praise, honor and glory.

(June 7, 1997 7:48 AM CDT)

"In Christ and through faith in him
we can speak freely to God,
drawing near him with confidence.
Hence, I beg you
not to be disheartened
by the trials I endure for you;
they are your glory."
Ephesians 3:12-13

Hang in there!
Call out to God.
Ask Jesus for strength.

(June 6, 1997 6:18 AM CDT)

Today and tomorrow Promise Keepers
has live radio broadcasts from Knoxville .
In Omaha it will be carried on KGBI 100.7 FM
tonight and all day Saturday.

God bless you today my friend.
Please pray for Omaha .
We have had some shootings lately
in the city.
Please pray for peace.
Thanks!

(June 5, 1997 6:26 AM CDT)

"In the past,
when you did not acknowledge God,
you served as slaves to gods
who are not really divine."
Galatians 4:8

Who will you serve today?
You can't serve God and anything else.
Put the Lord first in your life
and all other things fall into place.
Make Jesus the Lord of your life.

(June 4, 1997 6:24 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"You shall love the
Lord your God
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
You shall love
your neighbor as yourself."
Mark 12:30-31

(June 3, 1997 6:23 AM CDT)

"As Jesus moved on,
he saw a man named Matthew
at his post where taxes were collected.
Jesus said to him,
'Follow me.'
Matthew got up and followed him."
Matthew 9:9

Jesus calls to you today:
"Follow me."
Will you get up and follow him?

(June 2, 1997 6:21 AM CDT)

Jesus loves you.
He loves you a lot!
You are his child.
You are made in his image.
You are very special.

On Saturday (May 31) afternoon
a bird ran into the
front of my house.
I was planting flowers with
my niece, Rachel.
The bird dropped to the driveway.
It was still alive and
hopping around.
It might have a broken wing.
It tried to fly but could not.

Maybe you have "crashed".
Maybe you have a "broken wing".
You need Jesus to heal you.
Then you will be able to fly again.
Ask Jesus to give you new wings.
Ask Jesus into your heart today.

(June 1, 1997 7:46 AM CDT)

"All have the same Lord,
rich in mercy toward all
who call upon him.
'Everyone who calls on
the name of the Lord
will be saved.'"
