April 1 to 30, 1998

Seek and you will find
Listen to the Lord

Open your heart

Love as Jesus did

Turn away from sin

Repent and believe

7 year-old Boy

(April 30, 1998 6:25 AM CDT)

"Jesus explained to them:
'I myself am the bread of life.
No one who comes to me shall ever
be hungry, no one who believes in
me shall ever thirst. But as I told
you --- though you have seen me,
you still do not believe. All that
the Father gives me shall come to me;
no one who comes will I ever reject,
because it is not to do my own will
that I have come down from heaven,
but to do the will of him who sent me.
It is the will of him who sent me that
I should lose nothing of what he has
given me; rather, that I should raise
it up on the last day.'"
John 6:35-39

Jesus is food for the journey.
He is life.
Come to him.
He will not reject you.
He loves you.
He will raise you up on the last day.
He came down from heaven to save you.
Do his will.
Do not lose.

(April 29, 1998 6:18 AM CDT)

"Shout joyfully to God, all you on earth,
sing praise to the glory of his name;
proclaim his glorious praise.
Say to God, 'How tremendous are your deeds!
for your great strength your
enemies fawn upon you.
Let all on earth worship and
sing praise to you,
sing praise to your name!"
Psalms 66:1-4

Be joyful.
Give glory to God.
Praise the name of Jesus.
He is the Lord.
His deeds are awesome.
Let all the earth praise God.

(April 28, 1998 6:29 AM CDT)

"When they had led them in and made
them stand before the Sanhedrin,
the high priest began the interrogation
in this way: 'We gave you strict
orders not to teach about that name,
yet you have filled Jerusalem with
your teaching and are determined
to make us responsible for that man's
blood.' To this, Peter and the apostles
replied: 'Better for us to obey God
than men! The God of our fathers has
raised up Jesus whom you put to death,
hanging him on a tree.'"
Acts 5:27-30

Who are you going to obey?
Will you obey God?
He says to do good and not evil.
Love one another.
Do you listen?

(April 27, 1998 6:21 AM CDT)

Could you pray for all the gamblers?
We have 3 casinos just east of Omaha.
Many people are addicted to this.

"May the God of peace, who brought
up from the dead the great Shepherd
of the sheep by the blood of the
eternal covenant, Jesus our Lord,
furnish you with all that is good,
that you may do his will.
Through Jesus Christ may he carry
out in you all that is pleasing
to him.
To Christ be glory forever!
Amen."
Hebrews 13:20-21

May God give you peace today.
May you be raised from the dead.
I pray that you will do his will.
I know you can.
He has called you.
You are unique.
No one can do what you are called to do.
Yes, you are special.
You are very special!
You are made by God.
You are destined for glory.
I pray that one day you will meet Jesus.

(April 26, 1998 6:24 AM CDT)

"Jesus said,
'Simon, Simon! Remember that Satan
has asked for you, to sift you all
like wheat. But I have prayed for
you that your faith may never fail.
You in turn must strengthen your
brothers.' 'Lord,' he said to him,
'at your side I am prepared to face
imprisonment and death itself.'
Jesus replied, 'I tell you, Peter,
the cock will not crow today until
you have three times denied
that you know me."
Luke 22:31-34

The Lord calls you by name.
He warns you about evil.
You will be tempted,
but Jesus has prayed for you.
He prayed that your
faith would not fail.
That is some powerful prayer!
You have nothing to fear.
Be strong.
Drive evil away.
Satan, be gone in the name of Jesus.
It is a struggle.
Will you deny him?
Will you suffer?
Stay close to Jesus and
he will stay close to you.
Evil is no match for the
creator of the universe.
We will win in the end.
Victory is ours!

(April 25, 1998 6:24 AM CDT)

"Love your fellow Christians always.
Do not neglect to show hospitality,
for by that means some have entertained
angels without knowing it. Be as
mindful of prisoners as if you were
sharing their imprisonment, and of
the ill-treated as of yourselves,
for you may yet suffer as they do.
Let marriage be honored in every way
and the marriage bed be kept undefiled,
for God will judge fornicators and
adulterers. Do not love money but be
content with what you have, for God
has said, 'I will never desert you,
nor will I forsake you.'"
Hebrews 13:1-5

A recent bumper sticker said:
"Live simply
that others may simply live."

Lord, help us to treat money correctly.
Help us to live within our means.
Help us to share with those in need.
Marriage is very important.
Help them to be faithful, Lord.
Bless the single people, Lord.
Keep them pure and close to your heart.
Lord you will never leave us.
We thank you that you are faithful.
You are pure and holy.
We pray for all those in prison.
Lord be with them.
Comfort them in their hour of need.
Bless their families, Lord.
We need you, Lord.
Bless us all.

(April 24, 1998 6:21 AM CDT)

"As Jesus was entering a village,
ten lepers met him. Keeping their
distance, they raised their voices
and said, 'Jesus, Master, have pity
on us!' When he saw them, he responded,
'Go and show yourselves to the priests.'
On their way there they were cured.
One of them, realized that he had been
cured, came back praising God in a loud
voice. He threw himself on his face at
the feet of Jesus and spoke his praises."
Luke 17:12-16

You call out to Jesus.
He blesses you.
Your life is changed.
Do you return to thank him?
Do you give praise to him?
He has set you free from this
sickness.
He heals you.
He forgives your sins.
Are you grateful?

(April 23, 1998 6:34 AM CDT)

"Strive for that peace with all men,
and for that holiness without which
no one can see the Lord.
See to it that no man falls away
from the grace of God; that no
bitter root springs up through
which many may become defiled."
Hebrews 12:14-15

Be perfect.
Do you get upset with people?
Do you get mad at the other
drivers on the road?
It is a sign.
You must be at peace inside
to spread peace to others.
If you see someone fall,
help them back up.
If you fall, get up.
Continue the struggle.
Do good and not evil.
Plant the seeds of faith.
Pray for the lost.

(April 22, 1998 6:18 AM CDT)

Pray for my Mom today.
She is having surgery on her eye.
God bless the doctors and nurses.
Thanks.

"A clean heart create for me, O God,
and a steadfast spirit renew within me.
Cast me not out from your presence,
and your holy spirit take not from me.
Give me back the joy of your salvation,
and a willing spirit sustain in me.
I will teach transgressors your ways,
and sinners shall return to you."
Psalms 51:12-15

Open our hearts, Lord.
Renew our spirit.
Make us steadfast in the faith.
Send your Holy Spirit.
Renew us.
Change us.
Give us joy once again.
Help us to share our faith with others.
May sinners repent and change their lives.
Change us, Lord Jesus.
Help us to be what you want us to be.

(April 21, 1998 6:24 AM CDT)

"Remember how Jesus endured the opposition
of sinners; hence do not grow
despondent or abandon the struggle.
In your fight against sin you have
not yet resisted to the point
of shedding blood."
Hebrews 12:3-4

If you stand with Jesus,
there will be opposition.
He stands for truth and holiness.
Do not give up.
Hang in there.
It is a struggle.
Yes, it is tough to be a Christian.
Sin is everywhere.
It is a war.
Resist temptation.
Put evil thoughts out of your mind.
Do good.
Call on the name of the Lord
and you will be saved.

(April 20, 1998 6:26 AM CDT)

At about 6:30 PM last evening there was
a double rainbow visible from eastern Omaha.
I saw it from 32nd Avenue and Center.
The colors were very bright.
We thank the Lord for his beauty.

"Jesus said, 'Peace to you.'
In their panic and fright they
thought they were seeing a ghost.
He said to them,
'Why are you disturbed?
Why do such ideas cross your mind?
Look at my hands and my feet;
it is really I. Touch me, and see
that a ghost does not have flesh
and bones as I do.' As he said this
he showed them his hands and feet.
They were still incredulous for
sheer joy and wonder, so he said
to them, 'Have you anything here to eat?'
They gave him a piece of cooked fish,
which he took and ate in their presence."
Luke 24:36-43

The risen Jesus was there.
They could not believe it.
They saw him with their own eyes.
He was alive.
They touched him.
Almost all the disciples eventually
died for their faith.
You don't give up your life for a ghost.
He was real.
Come and see.
Jesus is alive.
Blessed are they that have not seen and believe.

(April 19, 1998 6:32 AM CDT)

"Therefore, since we for our part are
surrounded by this cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every encumbrance of sin
which clings to us and persevere
in running the race which lies ahead;
let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus,
who inspires and perfects our faith.
For the sake of the joy which lay before
him he endured the cross,
heedless of its shame."
Hebrews 12:1-3

Many have gone before us.
We are not alone.
If they made it, we can too.
They had faith.
We have faith.
Be strong.
It may look hopeless some days,
but God is in control.
Keep your eyes on Jesus.
Be focused.
He is your inspiration.
He will perfect your faith.
Study the cross.
Yes, there is pain and sorrow,
but there is joy and redemption.
It is a shame.

(April 18, 1998 6:44 AM CDT)

Pray for Katie again.
She is back in the hospital.
Thanks.

(April 17, 1998 6:20 AM CDT)

"By faith Abraham obeyed when he was
called, and went forth to the place
he was to receive as a heritage;
he went forth, moreover, not
knowing where he was going.
By faith he sojourned in the promised
land as in a foreign country, dwelling
in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs
of the same promise; for he was looking
forward to the city with foundations,
whose designer and maker is God."
Hebrews 11:8-10

Why live in a tent?
Why obey God?
Why go forth, if you don't
know where you are going?
You too are an heir to the promise.
You are chosen.
Are you are heading for
the city designed by God?
It is an adventure.
Obey.
Do the will of God.
All things that you buy are temporary.
The world is passing away.
Keep the distractions of this world
to a minimum.
Follow Jesus.

(April 16, 1998 6:27 AM CDT)

"Faith is confident assurance concerning
what we hope for, and conviction about
things we do not see. Because of faith
the men of old were approved by God.
Through faith we perceive that the worlds
were created by the word of God, and
that what is visible came into
being through the invisible."
Hebrews 11:1-3

I pray that your faith will increase.
Ask for faith.
This is very important.
Many things you cannot see.
The Lord created all that you can see.
It takes trust.
The world says it just all happened by chance.
Not!
There is a designer.
He is the creator.
You see his beauty in the stars
and in the
Electron Microscope .
Behold his signature is everywhere.

(April 15, 1998 6:26 AM CDT)

"Rejoice in the Lord always!
I say it again.
Rejoice!
Everyone should see how unselfish you are.
The Lord is near.
Dismiss all anxiety from your minds.
Present your needs to God in every
form of prayer and in petitions
full of gratitude.
Then God's own peace, which is beyond
all understanding, will stand guard over
your hearts and minds, in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:4-7

It is Easter Wednesday.
Rejoice!
The Lord is risen.
Is it hard to rejoice?
Draw near to God.
He will draw near to you.
Be free from all anxiety and stress.
Ask the Lord for whatever you need.
Ask him to heal you.
Ask him to give you a new job.
Ask him to help you in school.
Ask for peace.
He is faithful.

(April 14, 1998 6:29 AM CDT)

"You will show me the path to life,
fullness of joys in your presence,
the delights at your right
hand forever."
Psalms 16:11

Show us the way, Lord.
Jesus, you are the way.
Help us to follow only you.
Give us joy.
Bring us into your presence.
May we be with you forever.

(April 13, 1998 6:20 AM CDT)

"I will give thanks to you,
for you have answered me
and have been my savior.
The stone which the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.
By the Lord has this been done;
it is wonderful in our eyes.
This is the day the Lord has made;
let us be glad and rejoice in it."
Psalms 118:21-24

We thank you, Lord.
We rejoice today.
You are the cornerstone.
You are our savior.
This is the day.
May we praise your name.
May we sing for joy.
I pray that joy
will fill your life.

(April 12, 1998 6:29 AM CDT)

Happy Easter to you and your family!
I pray that you receive many
blessings today from the Lord.

"On the first day of the week, at dawn,
the women came to the tomb bringing
spices they had prepared.
They found the stone rolled back
from the tomb; but when they entered
the tomb, they did not find the body
of the Lord Jesus. While they were
still at a loss over what to think of
this, two men in dazzling garments
stood beside them. Terrified, the
women bowed to the ground. The men
said to them: 'Why do you search for
the Living One among the dead?
He is not here; he has been raised up.
Remember what he said to you while he
was still in Galilee--- that the
Son of Man must be delivered into the
hands of sinful men, and be crucified,
and on the third day rise again.'
With this reminder, his words came
back to them."
Luke 24:1-8

Rejoice.
Be glad.
Alleluia.
Do not be terrified.
Believe.
Go and tell others.
He is risen.

Here is my favorite Easter hymn:
Jesus Christ is Risen Today
(Midi)

(April 11, 1998 6:46 AM CDT)

It will be a beautiful spring day
of 75 F degrees today.
Did you see the full moon?
Easter is very close.
It is Holy Saturday.

"Yet it was our infirmities that he bore,
our sufferings that he endured,
while we thought of him as stricken,
as one smitten by God and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our offenses,
crushed for our sins,
upon him was the chastisement
that makes us whole,
by his stripes we were healed.
We had all gone astray like sheep,
each following his own way;
but the Lord laid upon him
the guilt of us all."
Isaiah 53:4-6

We remember today that Jesus died.
He was placed in the tomb.
His disciples were heart broken.
They were lost.
He was to save them.
He was to be their king.
Now he was gone.
They recalled the Scriptures.
It cannot be.
It could not have happened.
What went wrong?
They cried.
They waited.

(April 10, 1998 6:31 AM CDT)

It is Good Friday.
It is called 'good' because
of what God did for you.
Take time to think
about these things today.

"After the soldiers had crucified Jesus
they took his garments and divided
them four ways, one for each soldier.
There was also his tunic, but this tunic
was woven in one piece from top
to bottom and had no seam.
They said to each other, 'We should
not tear it. Let us throw dice
to see who gets it.' (The purpose of
this was to have the Scripture fulfilled:
'They divided my garments among them;
for my clothing they cast lots.')
And this is what the soldiers did."
John 19:23-24

It is a sad scene.
The soldiers are taking the
few things that Jesus owns.
They are throwing dice.
Jesus is suffering.
He is dying.
People are shouting at Jesus
to come down from the cross.
And yet, he forgives them all because
they know not what they are doing.
The Scripture is fulfilled.
It was promised.
For thousands of years they waited.
The Messiah would come.
He is the promise of the Father.
God is faithful.
How do you react?
Do you make fun of Jesus?
Do you gamble with your life?
Do you say 'thank you?'
There is a lot to think about today.

(April 9, 1998 6:25 AM CDT)

It is Holy Thursday.
We remember the last supper of Jesus.
He said to do this in remembrance of him.

Jesus said,
"All this I tell you that my joy
may be yours and your joy may be complete.
This is my commandment:
love one another
as I have loved you.
There is no greater love than this:
to lay down one's life for one's friends."
John 15:11-13

Jesus is your best friend.
He died for you.
He gave up everything for you.
He loves you that much.
Remember him today.
Remember what he has done for you.

(April 8, 1998 6:23 AM CDT)

Happy Easter to you!
I wish for you the peace of Jesus.
He died for you.
He rose again on the third day.

"It happened that one of the twelve,
Thomas (the name means 'Twin'),
was absent when Jesus came.
The other disciples kept telling him:
'We have seen the Lord!' His answer
was, 'I will never believe it without
probing the nail-prints in his hands,
without putting my finger in the nail-marks
and my hand into his side.'"
John 20:24-25

Do you believe?
Do you need proof?
It is a matter of faith.
You either believe Jesus is
who he says he is or not.
He is God.
Do you believe that?
He died and rose again.
Do you believe that?
It takes faith.
It takes great faith.
It takes trust.
He died for you.
Believe.
Trust in him.

(April 7, 1998 6:17 AM CDT)

We had several thunderstorms yesterday.
There were even some tornadoes,
but there was no damage.
We pray for protection from the storms.

"They led Jesus away under arrest and brought
him to the house of the high priest,
while Peter followed at a distance.
Later they lighted a fire in the middle
of the courtyard and were sitting beside it,
and Peter sat among them. A servant girl
saw him sitting in the light of the fire.
She gazed at him intently, then said,
'This man was with him.' He denied it,
saying, 'Woman, I do not know him.'"
Luke 22:54-57

Do you follow Jesus?
Do you know who he is?
Are you a disciple?
Are you just curious?
Believe in him.
Yes, he can perform miracles.
He is God.
He is something to behold.
Tell others that you know him.
Do not deny it.
Be a witness.
Stand up for the truth.
Yes, the fire is warm,
but why are you there?

(April 6, 1998 6:28 AM CDT)

"Coming within sight of Jerusalem,
Jesus wept over it and said:
'If only you had known the path
to peace this day; but you have
completely lost it from view!
Days will come upon you when your
enemies encircle you with a rampart,
hem you in, and press you hard from
every side. They will wipe you out,
you and your children within your walls,
and leave not a stone on a stone
within you, because you failed to
recognize the time of your visitation.'"
Luke 19:41-44

This is the time.
This is the day of visitation.
Jesus comes to you.
Do you turn away?
Jesus weeps for you.
He loves you.
Without Jesus mass destruction is certain.
You are surrounded by enemies.
All will be destroyed.
Come and be saved.
Call on the name of Jesus.
He is your shelter.
It is time.

(April 5, 1998 6:37 AM CDT)

Today is Palm Sunday.
We remember when Jesus entered Jerusalem.
He rode on a donkey.
"They spread their cloaks on the roadway
as he moved along; and on his approach to
the descent from Mount Olivet, the entire
crowd of disciples began to rejoice and
praise God loudly for the display of
power they had seen, saying:
'Blessed is he who comes as king
in the name of the Lord!
Peace in heaven
and glory in the highest!'
Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said
to Jesus, 'Teacher, rebuke your disciples.'
He replied, 'If they were to keep
silence, I tell you the very stones
would cry out.'"
Luke 19:36-40

Welcome Jesus into your city.
Shout praises to God.
Your king has arrived.
Rejoice.
Bless the Lord.
Give glory to God.
Will you be silent?
Will you say something?

(April 4, 1998 6:36 AM CST)

"Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord;
Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to my voice in supplication.
If you, O Lord, mark iniquities,
Lord, who can stand?
But with you is forgiveness,
that you may be revered.
I trust in the Lord;
my soul trusts in his word.
My soul waits for the Lord
more than sentinels wait for the dawn."
Psalms 130:1-6

Lord, we pray to you today.
We call on your name.
Jesus, forgive our sins.
Restore us to life.
We are in darkness.
Bring us into the light.
We trust in you, Lord.
We wait for you.
Come and save us.
Be a new sunrise for us.
Give us new life.

(April 3, 1998 6:28 AM CST)

A person from my old neighborhood died.
We lived near 33rd and Cuming Streets
in Omaha .
His name was Paul.
So pray for his family today.
Thanks.

"As Jesus walked along,
he saw a man who had been blind
from birth. His disciples asked him,
'Rabbi, was it his sin or that of his
parents that caused him to be born blind?'
'Neither,' answered Jesus:
'It was no sin, either of this man or of his
parents. Rather, it was to let God's works
show forth in him. We must do the deeds of
him who sent me while it is day.
The night comes on when no one can work.
While I am in the world
I am the light of the world.'"
John 9:1-5

Are you blind?
Do you not see?
Jesus is the light.
He reveals the truth.
Come and see.
See and believe.
Jesus will heal your blindness.
Jesus says, "I am."
He is God.
Come and believe in him.

(April 2, 1998 6:30 AM CST)

"Do not, then, surrender your confidence;
it will have great reward.
You need patience to do God's will
and receive what he has promised.
...
We are not among those
who draw back and perish,
but among those who have faith and live."
Hebrews 10:35-36,39

Never give up hope!
God has promised.
He is faithful.
Have patience.
Do God's will for you.
Do what he wants.
Do not retreat.
Stand firm.
If you fall, get back up.
Move forward with the Lord.
Jesus, increase our faith.
Give us new life.
Forgive our sins.

(April 1, 1998 6:28 AM CST)

"At this the Jews responded,
'What sign can you show us
authorizing you to do these things?'
'Destroy this temple,' was Jesus' answer,
'and in three days I will raise it up.'"
John 2:18-19

Do you seek a sign?
Jesus gives you the sign of the cross.
He died.
He was raised up in 3 days.
He knew that he would die.
You know that you will die.
He knew that he would be raised up.
Do you believe in the resurrection?
You can be raised up.
Believe in Jesus.
He is the resurrection and the life.
You are a "fool",
if you ignore this free gift from God.
Believe and live.
