January 14, 1997: Reflection of the Father's Glory

In many and various ways
God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets;
but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son,
whom he appointed the heir of all things,
through whom also he created the world.
He reflects the glory of God
and bears the very stamp of his nature,
upholding the universe by his word of power.
When he had made purification for sins,
he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
having become as much superior to angels
as the name he has obtained is more excellent than theirs.

Hebrews 1:1-4

Jesus, you are the son.
You reflect the glory of your Father.
You bear witness to the truth down through the ages.
You came to earth to reveal the truth to us.
Jesus, you are the great prophet.
You fulfilled prophecies and told of things yet to come.
You told them that the temple would be destoyed in Jerusalem.
You said you would die and then rise on the third day.
We are amazed, O Lord.
You spoke a word to the sick and they were healed.
You calmed the storm on the lake.
Heal us, O Lord. Calm the storms of our lives.
Save us, O Lord.
You created the universe.
You hold all the stars in their place.
We stand in awe of your power.
We give glory to you for your creation.
How beautiful it is.
We thank you for the truth.
We would be lost without you.
Thank you for coming to earth to show us the Father.
Thank you for sending us your Holy Spirit.
We are grateful.
We say thanks.
Bless us, O Lord, this day.
You know just what we need.
Give us your grace and peace.
Change the world.
Change us, O Lord.
Heal us, O Lord.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.
