September, 2006

Be holy as the Lord is holy
Think of others

God is love

Think of heaven

God's grace is enough for you

Thank the Lord

(September 30, 2006 Sat 8:30 AM CDT)

I'm still using my old computer today.
It is way too slow.
I need to get my computer fixed.
My first thought is to reload the OS
Windows XP Professional and see if that works.

Yesterday I was reading about Anousheh Ansari .
She paid $20 million to go to the
International Space Station .
It was interesting to read about her experiences
in zero gravity and her view of the earth and stars.
We all live on spaceship earth in a void of darkness.

"Therefore Jesus is always able to save those
who approach God through him,
since he forever lives
to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 7:25

That is for sure.
He is on your side.
Go to him.
Ask for help.
He lives forever.
Stay close to him.

(September 29, 2006 Fri 7:22 AM CDT)

I'm writing this from my old Windows 98 computer.
My Windows XP computer won't start today.
First thing I had to do was install putty .
This is a way to connect to my ISP securely.
The old telnet way does not work anymore.

"May God himself,
who is our Father,
and our Lord Jesus
make our path to you a straight one!"
1 Thessalonians 3:11

There is one path to heaven.
Don't get distracted.
Keep your focus on Jesus.
He knows the way.
There is only one way.

(September 28, 2006 Thu 6:13 AM CDT)

Yesterday some people came to my house
and blew more insulation in the attic.
I have a pink attic now.
It will save on the heating bills.
God bless them and the work they do.

"As you well know,
we have our citizenship in heaven;
it is from there that we eagerly await
the coming of our Savior,
the Lord Jesus Christ."
Philippians 3:20

We are not made for earth.
We are made for heaven.
We will never be at home here.
These things will not satisfy us.
Look toward heaven.
That is our true home.

(September 27, 2006 Wed 6:23 AM CDT)

"Each day they studied the Scriptures
to see whether these things were so."
Acts 17:11

Look and see.
Read the Bible.
Jesus is there in the words.
He is the way and the truth.

(September 26, 2006 Tue 6:16 AM CDT)

"If their purpose or activity
is human in its origins,
it will destroy itself.
If on the other hand,
it comes from God,
you will not be able to destroy them
without fighting God himself."
Acts 5:38-39

God is on your side.
He will fight your fights.
He is all-powerful.
It is no contest.
God will win.

(September 25, 2006 Mon 6:18 AM CDT)

"Jesus replied,
'Did I not assure you
that if you believed
you would see
the glory of God displayed?'"
John 11:40

Believe in Jesus.
He can work miracles.
He can change you.
He can change the world.
You will see the glory of God.

(September 24, 2006 Sun 8:39 AM CDT)

"Surely I, the Lord, do not change..."
Malachi 3:6

The Lord is there.
The Lord has been there a long time.
He is a constant in this ever-changing world.
He is on your side.
He is for you.
He is there for you.
Think of him often.
Pray to him.

(September 23, 2006 Sat 9:02 AM CDT)

I figured out Sudoku chains yesterday.
It was very interesting.
I updated my Sudoku program with this new information.

"Jesus said to them,
'The healthy do not need a doctor;
sick people do.
I have not come to invite the self-righteous
to a change of heart, but sinners.'"
Luke 5:31-32

If you don't feel well, go to Jesus.
He will heal you.
He will make you well.
He will cheer you up.
He will change your heart.
He is inviting you.

(September 22, 2006 Fri 7:45 AM CDT)

"Jesus asked them,
'Children, have you caught anything to eat?'
'Not a thing,' they answered.
'Cast your net off to the starboard side,'
he suggested, 'and you will find something.'
So they made a cast, and took so many fish
they could not haul the net in."
John 21:5-6

When you have Jesus you have it all.
It is more than you need.
You have enough and some left over.
Listen to Jesus.
Respond when he asked you questions.

(September 21, 2006 Thu 6:21 AM CDT)

"After they had fasted and prayed,
they imposed hands on them
and sent them off."
Acts 13:3

Pray over your family.
Pray God's blessings come down on them.
God will hear your prayer.
They will walk with the Lord.

(September 20, 2006 Wed 6:19 AM CDT)

God bless you today.
Pray for one of my relatives.

(September 19, 2006 Tue 6:15 AM CDT)

How long have I been doing Sudoku puzzles?
I never noticed that the initial squares
that are filled in are symmetrical .
A web site mentioned this.

"Praise be the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has bestowed on us in Christ
every spiritual blessing in the heavens!
God chose us in him before the world began,
to be holy and blameless in his sight,
to be full of love..."
Ephesians 1:3-4

You are important.
God chose you.
He wants the best for you.
Receive these spiritual blessings from the Lord.

(September 18, 2006 Mon 6:14 AM CDT)

"Therefore Jesus is always able
to save those
who approach God through him,
since he forever lives
to make intercession for them."
Hebrews 7:25

Jesus is there.
He intercedes for us.
He is on our side.
Go to him.
Stand by him.
Pray to him.

(September 17, 2006 Sun 8:26 AM CDT)

"Keep this in mind, dear brothers and sisters.
Let every person be quick to hear,
slow to speak, slow to anger;
for a person's anger does not fulfill God's justice."
James 1:19-20

Listen.
Count to 10.
Try to hear the words of the other person.
Ask the Lord to help you to listen.
Think before you speak.

(September 16, 2006 Sat 7:58 AM CDT)

I had to laugh yesterday when I read this in the newspaper.
The minor planet Pluto is now named 134340 or 1340340 .
The science teachers in school will be excited
to teach that to their students.
Some sources on the internet say
the number is 134340 and some say 1340340.
What confusion!

Yesterday I was riding my bicycle to put 2 bills in the mailbox.
One needed to be mailed right away.
I did not want to drive my car just a few blocks.
It might have been the first time this year
I got out the bicycle to ride it.
I fell off the bicycle on the way.
I stopped too quickly looking around for cars in the street.
Next thing I knew I was down in the street.
Good thing no cars were coming.
I'm too old to fall off a bicycle.
I skinned up the palms of my hands just a little.
They are fine this morning.
I looked around to see if someone saw me fall.
One girl in the neighborhood might have seen the event.
I was embarrassed.
Can't even ride a bicycle.
I just shake my head.

I got the search for Swordfish
on my Sudoku program working yesterday.
I had the information in the program.
I just did not print it out.
It was the values of what I called x, y and z
with one added to each.
I also had the words "row" and "column" flipped.
There are 9 rows and 9 columns in Sudoku.
I was so close to displaying something useful.

"I am sure of this much:
that he who has begun the good work in you
will carry it through to completion,
right up to the day of Christ Jesus."
Philippians 1:6

When you fall down get up.
Keep going.
Don't give up.
You are so close to the answer.
Keep trying.
The Lord will help you complete the task.

(September 15, 2006 Fri 7:02 AM CDT)

Jesus said to them:
"Thus it is written
that the Messiah must suffer and
rise from the dead on the 3rd day.
In his name,
penance for the remission of sins
is to be preached to all the nations,
beginning at Jerusalem.
You are witnesses of this.
See, I send down upon you
the promise of my Father.
Remain here in the city
until you are clothed
with power from on high."
Luke 24:46-49

What a blessing to receive!
You can have the promise of the Father.
Ask Jesus for this blessing today.
He will freely give this to you.
You will never be the same again.
He makes all things new.

(September 14, 2006 Thu 6:19 AM CDT)

Jesus said to them,
"Be on guard!
Let no one mislead you."
Matthew 24:4

Know the truth.
Read the words of Jesus.
Know what is real.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
Do not be misled.

(September 13, 2006 Wed 6:16 AM CDT)

Jesus prayed,
"Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
to you I offer praise;
for what you have hidden
from the learned and the clever
you have revealed to the merest children."
Matthew 11:25

It is not that complicated.
God made you.
He loves you.
You love God.
You stay close to him.
Keep life simple.

(September 12, 2006 Tue 6:11 AM CDT)

"We have come to know and to believe
in the love God has for us.
God is love,
and he who abides in love
abides in God,
and God in him."
1 John 4:16

Yes, God is love.
We look to him.
He created us.
He has given us life.
He keeps us going.
He is our hope.
Abide in him.

(September 11, 2006 Mon 6:24 AM CDT)

"Our preaching of the gospel
proved not a mere matter of words for you
but one of power..."
1 Thessalonians 1:5

It is more than words.
The Bible is alive.
It is the words of God.
It can change lives.
It can change you.
Jesus, be with us as we read the Bible today.

(September 10, 2006 Sun 8:15 AM CDT)

This is from a sermon (09/03/06)
I listened to yesterday from TC .

"Make no mistake about it,
no one makes a fool of God!
A man will reap only what he sows.
If he sows in the field of the flesh,
he will reap a harvest of corruption;
but if his seed-ground is spirit,
he will reap everlasting life.
Let us not grow weary of doing good;
if we do not relax our efforts,
in due time we shall reap our harvest."
Galatians 6:7-9

Keep up the good work.
Do not relax.
Keep focused on the kingdom of God.
There will be a harvest one day.
Reap a great harvest of eternal life.

(September 9, 2006 Sat 9:03 AM CDT)

I dusted my computer room this morning.
I should start sneezing any minute now.

One of my most popular web pages is the
pictures of Creighton University
that I took back in August of 2003.
Or maybe it is the free song of Beyonce.

"The word of God continued to spread,
while at the same time
the number of disciples
in Jerusalem enormously increased."
Acts 6:7

The Good News is there.
It is alive.
It is spreading.
It is changing people's lives.
It is changing the world.

(September 8, 2006 Fri 6:14 AM CDT)

"Someone asked Jesus,
'Which is the first of all the commandments?'
Jesus replied,
'This is the first:
Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone!
Therefore you shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
This is the second:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these.'"
Mark 12:28-31

Love the Lord.
Think of him often.
Pray to him.
Do what he asks of you.
Help your neighbor.

(September 7, 2006 Thu 6:16 AM CDT)

"Jesus said to the man,
'Stretch out your hand.'
He did so and it was perfectly restored;
it became as sound as the other."
Matthew 12:13

Jesus will ask you to do things.
It is for your own good.
It is to heal you.
Listen to him.
Do what he asks of you.

(September 6, 2006 Wed 6:21 AM CDT)

"See what love the Father has bestowed on us
in letting us be called children of God!
Yet that is what we are."
1 John 3:1

You are a child of God.
God made you.
You are his creation.
You will never be happy without him.
Go to him.
Pray to him.
Father, I am your child.
I give my life to you.

(September 5, 2006 Tue 6:20 AM CDT)

Pray for someone that needs help.

"Three times I begged the Lord
that this might leave me.
He said to me,
'My grace is enough for you,
for in weakness power reaches perfection.'"
2 Corinthians 12:8-9

Turn to the Lord.
He is your strength.
He is your hope for today.
Go to him when you are weak.
He will send you grace.

(September 4, 2006 Mon 8:02 AM CDT)

This is from a sermon (08/27/06) from TC
that I listened to on Saturday.

Jesus said,
"The thief comes only to
steal and slaughter and destroy,
I came that they might have life
and have it to the full."
John 10:10

Jesus comes into your life to change it.
He wants you to feel joy.
He wants you to have hope for the future.
Wonderful things are coming your way.
He is there with you.
Come experience the full life.
It is life the way it was meant to be.

(September 3, 2006 Sun 8:32 AM CDT)

Everyone in Nebraska should be happy today
we won our first football game
of the season yesterday.
We got it done.
I tried to videotape the first half,
but my VCR did not cooperate.
I was out driving around during the game.
It is strangely quiet on the streets of Omaha.

Jesus said,
"Do not lay up for yourselves an earthly treasure.
Moths and rust corrode;
thieves break in and steal.
Make it your practice instead
to store up heavenly treasure,
which neither moths nor rust corrode
nor thieves break in and steal.
Remember, where your treasure is,
there your heart is also."
Matthew 6:19-21

Where is your heart?
Do you give your heart to the Lord?
Where is your treasure?
Do you give to the Lord?
Your heart tells the story.
Get it done.

(September 2, 2006 Sat 8:31 AM CDT)

"We keep thanking God for all of you
and we remember you in our prayers,
for we constantly are mindful
before our God and Father
of the way you are proving your faith,
and laboring in love,
and showing constancy of hope
in our Lord Jesus Christ."
1 Thessalonians 1:2-3

Remember to pray for your pastor.
Lift them up to the Lord.
Their job is not easy.
God bless all the pastors.
Lord, give them strength for today and always.

(September 1, 2006 Fri 7:34 AM CDT)

"Let me say this much:
He who sows sparingly will reap sparingly,
and he who sows bountifully will reap bountifully.
Everyone must give according to what
he has inwardly decided;
not sadly, not grudgingly,
for God loves a cheerful giver.
God can multiply his favors among you
so that you may always have enough of everything
and even a surplus for good works..."
2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Give to others.
Do it gladly.
Give to the Lord.
Give of your time and money.
God will bless you.
You will have a surplus.
