August 1 to 31, 1997

Love is from God
Not all will be in heaven

God created the heavens and the earth

Love each other

You are free indeed

The time has come

"Ticket To Heaven" (Currently in progress)

(August 31, 1997 10:54 AM CDT)

The mother of Jesus instructed
those waiting on table,
"Do whatever he tells you."
John 2:5

Yes, do whatever Jesus says.
He says to love God and
love your neighbor.
He says to have faith.
He says to fear not.
Peace be to you.
Love your enemies.
Pray.
Ask for what you need.
Forgive.
Be healed.
Follow me.

(August 30, 1997 8:03 AM CDT)

TODAY is the one year anniversary
of Spring 2 Life on the Internet.
It seems like a long time ago.
I hope something over the past year
has blessed you.

We have been getting rain this morning.
We thank the Lord.
We needed it.

"I love you, O Lord, my strength,
O Lord, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.
My God, my rock of refuge, my shield,
the horn of my salvation, my stronghold!
Praise be the Lord, I exclaim,
and I am safe from my enemies."
Psalms 18:1-4

You have nothing to fear.
God is your protection.
Call on the name of Jesus to save you.
If you are surrounded by evil,
call on the Lord to rescue you.
He is your strength.
God hears your prayer and
will deliver you.

I started to write a story this morning.
It is about someone that finds a ticket
on the sidewalk. It is a "Ticket To Heaven" .
I was thinking about plane tickets to Denver
or Chicago and this idea popped into my head.
I think it holds lots of promise as an idea.
I got out a piece of paper and put some thoughts
into writing, so I would not forget.
Pray for me to develop the story into what
God wants to say.
Thanks.

(August 29, 1997 6:35 AM CDT)

"As to the exact day or hour,
no one knows it,
neither the angels in heaven
nor even the Son,
but only the Father.
Be constantly on the watch!
Stay awake!
You do not know when the
appointed time will come."
Mark 13:32-33

Are you ready?
What if today was your last day?
Be on the watch.
Be ready.
Watch for the coming of Jesus.
Prepare his way.
Pray for the lost to change their ways.
Be joyful.
Expect him at any time.

(August 28, 1997 6:22 AM CDT)

"May God himself, who is our Father,
and our Lord Jesus make our path
to you a straight one!
And may the Lord increase you and
make you overflow with love for one another
and for all, even as our love does for you.
May he strengthen your hearts,
making them blameless and holy before
our God and Father at the coming of our
Lord Jesus with all his holy ones."
1 Thessalonians 3:11-13

Yes, keep on the straight path that
leads to Jesus.
May the Lord bless you abundantly.
Receive the strength of the Lord.
Strive to be holy and blameless.
We ask this in the name of Jesus.

(August 27, 1997 6:22 AM CDT)

"O Lord,
you have been our refuge
through all generations.
Before the mountains were begotten
and the earth and
the world were brought forth,
from everlasting to everlasting
you are God."
Psalms 90:1-2

Our God is faithful
for generation after generation.
Trust in the Lord.
He will bless you and your children
and your children's children.

(August 26, 1997 6:27 AM CDT)

Once again the high priest interrogated Jesus:
"Are you the Messiah,
the Son of the Blessed One?"
Then Jesus answered:
"I am and you will see the Son of Man
seated at the right hand of the Power
and coming with the clouds of heaven."
Mark 14:61-62

Jesus is the Messiah that was promised
for thousands of years.
He came to earth.
He is God.
He is human.
He suffered and died and
rose from the dead.
He came to save us.
People rejected him.
Some people believed in him.
Do you believe in Jesus?

(August 25, 1997 6:32 AM CDT)

"Faith, then, comes through hearing,
and what is heard is the word of Christ."
Romans 10:17

You need to hear the word of God.
You should read the word of God to others.
Join a Bible study.
Read the Bible together and discuss it.
Share the gift.
Share what has been given to you.

It is a new week.
Some of the kids are going back to school.
God bless their studies and efforts.

(August 24, 1997 10:35 AM CDT)

"The Lord be with you!"
and they replied,
"The Lord bless you!"
Ruth 2:4

Greet each other in the Lord.
Bless one another.
Call down God's blessings.
Ask the Lord and he will respond.
You can't out do the Lord in generosity.
He is wonderful.

(August 23, 1997 8:37 AM CDT)

"From your infancy you have known
the sacred Scriptures,
the source of the wisdom which through
faith in Jesus Christ leads to salvation.
All Scripture is inspired of God
and is useful for teaching ---
for reproof, correction and training in holiness
so that the man of God may be fully competent
and equipped for every good work."
2 Timothy 3:15-17

We thank you, Lord,
for your holy words in the Bible .
Inspire us when we read your words.
Give us wisdom and understanding.
Show us what is important in this life.
Teach us how to live and love.
Give us the truth.
Keep us close to you.
Keep us on the right road to you.
Help us to do your work.
Give us strength to help others.
Help us build your kingdom.

(August 22, 1997 6:28 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"The spirit of the Lord is upon me;
therefore he has anointed me.
He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor,
to proclaim liberty to captives,
Recovery of sight to the blind
and release to prisoners,
To announce a year of favor from the Lord."
Luke 4:18-19

This year can be a special year for you.
Jesus offers you good news.
You can be set free.
You can see again.
Call on the name of the Lord
and you will be saved.

Yesterday another person was murdered in Omaha.
It was a priest.
Let us pray for the violence to end.
Lord have mercy on the soul of whoever did this.
Forgive them and change their hearts toward you.
Lord, hear our prayer.

(August 21, 1997 6:25 AM CDT)

"Gladden the soul of your servant,
for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul;
For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,
abounding in kindness to all who call upon you.
Hearken, O Lord, to my prayer
and attend to the sound of my pleading.
In the day of my distress I call upon you,
for you will answer me."
Psalms 86:4-7

We call out to Jesus.
Hear our prayers.
We plead with you for the lost.
We ask you to heal us, O Lord.
Forgive us.
Lift us up.

(August 20, 1997 6:21 AM CDT)

Then Jesus went with them to
a place called Gethsemani.
He said to his disciples,
"Stay here while I go
over there and pray."
He took along Peter and
Zebedee's two sons, and
began to experience
sorrow and distress.
Matthew 26:36-37

Pray along with Jesus.
The world is in such great need.
Pray for the lost to be found.
Pray for the weak to be strong.
Pray for the dead to come to life.

(August 19, 1997 6:21 AM CDT)

"Praise the Lord in his sanctuary,
praise him in the firmament of his strength.
Praise him for his mighty deeds,
praise him for his sovereign majesty.
Praise him with the blast of the trumpet,
praise him with lyre and harp."
Psalms 150:1-3

Take a moment to give praise to God.
He is so wonderful.
We thank you, Lord, for your many blessings.
We thank you for answering our prayers.
(Debbie is much better.)
We thank you for the rain and mild weather.
We praise you for your greatness.
No one is like you.
You alone are holy.
We fall far short of what we should be.
Help us, Lord.
We give thanks for your great love for us.
You died to set us free.
We praise your holy name, Jesus.
We praise you for the stars above
and the earth we live on.
Thanks for the food we eat.
We praise you for your glory.
Thanks for another day.
Each day is a gift.

(August 18, 1997 6:24 AM CDT)

Jim Elliot once said,
"He is no fool
who gives what he cannot keep
to gain what he cannot lose."

Jim died trying to convert
people to Jesus.
He gained eternal life in doing so.
Jesus promised "everlasting life"
for those who gave up everything
for the kingdom of God.
(See Mark 10:28-30 .)

(August 17, 1997 7:36 AM CDT)

"Venerate the Lord, that is,
Christ, in your hearts.
Should anyone ask you the reason
for this hope of yours,
be ever ready to reply,
but speak gently and respectfully."
1 Peter 3:15-16

Prepare for speaking to people about Jesus.
Be ready to share your story of faith.
Jesus has brought you to life.

(August 16, 1997 9:17 AM CDT)

Can you build something
that will last a long time?
If you build a sand castle on the beach
it will be washed away within a few hours
when the tide comes in.
If you build a car,
it might be around for 20 years.
If you build a house,
it might last 200 years before
it is abandoned or falls down.
If you build a great structure like
the pyramids, they might last 10,000 years
before they crumble.

You have heard the phrase,
"Nothing lasts forever."
Is this true?
Who is the oldest person?
Some people live to be 120 years old;
then they die.
What about the earth?
It will last a few billion years
and then it will be destroyed
when the sun expands
(after running out of hydrogen, I think).
How about the Milky Way galaxy?
It's days are numbered also.
What about time itself.
One day it will end.
Is there anything that lasts?

God has made something
that will last forever.
He made you.
He made your soul.
You are designed to live forever.
God always was and is and will be.

One day the earth will pass away.
(See Matthew 5:18 .)

(August 15, 1997 6:28 AM CDT)

Happy Birthday, Debbie.
Pray for her today. Thanks.

Pray for the people going to Promise Keepers
in Minneapolis today.

(August 14, 1997 6:36 AM CDT)

"Who can endure the day of his coming?
And who can stand when he appears?
For he is like the refiner's fire,
or like the fuller's lye."
Malachi 3:2

One day there will be Judgment Day.
Can you stand before God?
God is all holy.
We need Jesus by our side.
We fall far short.
Call on his name to stand with you
and fill you will his grace.

(August 13, 1997 6:30 AM CDT)

"Remain at peace with one another.
We exhort you to admonish the unruly;
cheer the fainthearted;
support the weak;
be patient toward all.
See that no one returns evil to any other;
always seek one another's good and,
for that matter,
the good of all."
1 Thessalonians 5:13-15

Pray for peace.
It is hard to be patient.
Ask God to help you.
Return a blessing when attacked.

(August 12, 1997 6:25 AM CDT)

Jesus said to the man
(with a shriveled hand),
"Stretch out your hand."
He did so,
and it was perfectly restored;
it became as sound as the other.
Matthew 12:13

Jesus, we reach out to you today.
We are shriveled and need healing.
Restore us, Lord.
Bring us back to life.
We need you, Jesus.
Save us, Lord.

(August 11, 1997 6:28 AM CDT)

"There was a time
when you were in darkness,
but now you are light in the Lord.
Well, then, live as children of light.
Light produces every kind of goodness
and justice and truth."
Ephesians 5:8-9

Live in the light of the Lord.
Do not live a life of darkness.
Come to Jesus.
He will shine bright in your life.
You will see a difference.
Your friends will see a difference.
Smile...Jesus loves you.

It's raining this morning and
we thank the Lord.
Parts of Nebraska are in a drought.

(August 10, 1997 7:21 AM CDT)

"Hear, my son, and receive my words,
and the years of your life shall be many.
On the way of wisdom I direct you,
I lead you on straightforward paths.
When you walk, your step will not be impeded,
and should you run, you will not stumble."
Proverbs 4:10-12

The Lord will lead you.
He is the guide.
Follow him.

Yesterday I installed a new PCI card
in my computer.
It automatically detected it,
but I canceled out of it.
This was a mistake and took hours to correct.
Jesus knows what is best for you,
do you trust him?
Do you try to figure life out by yourself?
I did not trust the computer to help me
and it cost me a lot of time.
Trust in the Lord Jesus.
It will save you lots of time and sorrow and pain.
Jesus is your best friend.
He knows the straight path.

(August 9, 1997 6:30 AM CDT)

Jesus uttered a loud cry and said,
"Father, into your hands
I commend my spirit."
After he said this he expired.
Luke 23:46

Jesus died for you.
He gave his life,
so that you could live.

(August 8, 1997 6:30 AM CDT)

We have had some very nice days lately
here in Omaha .
School will be starting soon.
I even got some things to work
yesterday on SQLFORMS 4.5 at work.
I learn new things every day.
I pray for the success of your work.
I ask God to bless your family.
I pray for God to lead you to the truth.
Pray for me to help others and
know what to say.
I pray for all who visit this site.
God bless you.

(August 7, 1997 6:25 AM CDT)

"First of all, I urge that petitions,
prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving
be offered for all men,
especially for kings and
those in authority,
that we may be able to lead undisturbed
and tranquil lives in
perfect piety and dignity."
1 Timothy 2:1-2

Yes, let us pray for our leaders.
Let us pray for peace
in our countries and towns.
Let us have the freedom to
worship God who made us.
In some countries it is against
the law to preach about Jesus.
May the truth be proclaimed---
Jesus is the way.
For us it is impossible,
but for God all things are possible.
Change us, Lord.
Make us holy.
Come and visit us, Lord.

(August 6, 1997 6:25 AM CDT)

If you have something to tell
the whole world, write to me
and I'll make it part of history.

"Be imitators of God
as his dear children.
Follow the way of love,
even as Christ loved you.
He gave himself for us
as an offering to God,
a gift of pleasing fragrance."
Ephesians 5:1-2

Offer to Jesus today all your efforts.
Ask him to bless your work.
May our work and studies
build the kingdom of God.

(August 5, 1997 6:25 AM CDT)

I'm starting to sneeze.
The pollen count is increasing
here in Omaha .
So pray for me. Thanks!

"Never let evil talk pass your lips;
say only the good things men
need to hear, things that will
really help them.
Do nothing to sadden the Holy Spirit
with whom you were sealed against
the day of redemption."
Ephesians 4:29-30

Say positive things to people.
Build up people.
Build the kingdom.
Jesus, teach us how to talk
to each other.

(August 4, 1997 6:22 AM CDT)

Lately the sunrises have been
very beautiful.
We thank God for his awesome colors.

"The heavens declare the glory of God."
Psalms 19:2

Yesterday was a very interesting day.
There was this little kid next to me in
church that put out their little hand
to greet me.
God puts out his hand to you.
He reaches out to you.
Do you smile and say "Good Morning"
or do you turn away?
He is just like that little child.

(August 3, 1997 7:43 AM CDT)

Each day I wake up and
wonder about what will happen.
Each day is an adventure.
How will God use you today?
Who will you help today?
Pray for the Holy Spirit
to lead you and guide you.
Come Spirit of life and fill us.
Give us your strength and wisdom.

Jesus said,
"You are the salt of the earth."
Matthew 5:13

(August 2, 1997 7:22 AM CDT)

"In six days the Lord
made the heavens and the earth,
the sea and all that is in them;
but on the seventh day he rested.
That is why the Lord has blessed
the sabbath day and made it holy."
Exodus 20:11

Do you do anything different on Sundays?
Is it just like any other day?
Do you do work on Sunday that
you could do some other day?
Keep holy the Lord's day.
Attending church would be a good start.
Prayer and reading the Bible
should be part of your day, also.
Spend some time listening to the Lord
and talking to him.

I welcome you all from around the world.
God bless you.
I'm praying for you.
May Jesus touch your heart today.

(August 1, 1997 6:25 AM CDT)

"The favors of the Lord
I will sing forever;
through all generations my mouth
shall proclaim your faithfulness.
For you have said,
'My kindness is established forever';
in heaven you have
confirmed your faithfulness."
Psalms 89:2-3

Forever and ever the Lord
has been faithful.
He said he would save us
and he did.
Trust in the Lord.

We start a new month.
You can start off
in a new direction.
Ask the Lord Jesus to
help you this month.
He is faithful and true.
