February 1998 (What did I write about one year ago?)
February 1997 (What about two years ago?)

(February 28, 1999 7:05 AM CST)

"As Jesus was walking along the Sea of Galilee
he watched two brothers, Simon now known
as Peter, and his brother Andrew,
casting a net into the sea. They were
fishermen. He said to them,
'Come after me and
I will make you fishers of men.'
They immediately abandoned their nets
and became his followers."
Matthew 4:18-20

You are surfing the web and run across a
site that is talking about Jesus.
What do you do?
Hit the 'Back' button right away?
Jesus is walking along and asks you
a question: Will you come with me?
What do you say?
How do you respond?
Jesus is alive today
just as he was 2,000 years ago (and more).
He calls people.
The response is immediate.
People are instantly changed.
He is calling you today.
You are changed.
Follow him.
Go fishing.

(February 27, 1999 7:10 AM CST)

"The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul;
The decree of the Lord is trustworthy,
giving wisdom to the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
The command of the Lord is clear,
enlightening the eye;
The fear of the Lord is pure,
enduring forever;
The ordinances of the Lord are true,
all of them just;
They are more precious than gold,
than a heap of purest gold;
Sweeter also than syrup
or honey from the comb."
Psalms 19:8-11

Be refreshed.
Renew your soul.
Let your heart be filled with joy.
See the blinding light of God.
You are precious.
Be sweet.
Change.
Follow the ways of Jesus.
He endures forever.
He is precious.
When you find Jesus
you have found a treasure.

Two stocks went up over 93% yesterday.
Is that the real treasure?
Is money that important to you?

(February 26, 1999 6:06 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"If you want to avoid judgment,
stop passing judgment.
Your verdict on others will be
the verdict passed on you.
The measure with which you measure
will be used to measure you."
Matthew 7:1-2

Do you look at others and condemn them?
It's not a good idea.
It's better to pray:
Lord, have mercy on my soul
for I am a sinner.
None of us is perfect.
We all fall down.
The mercy of God is overflowing.
Ask for mercy.
It is yours.
Just ask.
Pray for others that have lost their way
that they too may find mercy.

(February 25, 1999 6:11 AM CST)

"All this is as God intends,
for it is your special privilege
to take Christ's part ---
not only to believe in him
but also to suffer for him.
Yours is the same struggle as mine..."
Philippians 1:28-30

Life is a struggle.
Evil is all about us.
We want to do what is right,
but we fail.
We suffer for this.
But Jesus is there in our struggle.
He forgives us, if we ask.
Do your part.
It is a special privilege.
No one else can do your part.
You have a unique calling.
Do what the Lord asks of you.
Believe.
Be forgiven.
Do God's will.

(February 24, 1999 6:07 AM CST)

Happy Birthday Mary!
God bless you today.

I added two pictures to my sister
Joan's page. The first one is my favorite.

"Never act out of rivalry or conceit;
rather, let all parties think humbly of others
as superior to themselves, each of you
looking to others' interests
rather than to his own.
Your attitude must be that of Christ."
Philippians 2:3-5

Who was Christ thinking of
when he came to earth?
He was thinking of you.
He came for you.
He is God and he came to earth.
He lowered himself.
He became one of us.
He was humble.
He looked to the interests of others.
He cared about others and their needs.
What is your attitude?
Are you better than others?
Humble yourself.
Change your attitude.
Be like Jesus.

(February 23, 1999 6:08 AM CST)

"Since you have been raised up in company
with Christ, set your heart on what pertains
to higher realms where Christ is seated
at God's right hand. Be intent on things above
rather than on things of earth.
After all, you have died!
Your life is hidden now with Christ in God.
When Christ our life appears, then you
shall appear with him in glory."
Colossians 3:1-4

Have you died?
Have you given up your old ways?
Have you surrendered your life to God?
Set your sights on heaven.
The world is passing away ---
here today and gone tomorrow.
Change your heart.
Your life is now in Christ.
Leave the ways of the world behind you.
Press on.
Seek the Lord with all your heart.
See his glory.
Your life is renewed.
Spring is coming soon.
Find life.
Find hope.

Yes, we got more snow.
Maybe we got 8 inches (20 cm) more.
The schools are closed today.
So all you kids go shovel the snow for your
elderly neighbors and do it for free.
Do it for love.
God will bless you!

(February 22, 1999 6:10 AM CST)

We have at least 6 inches (15 cm) of snow
on the ground now from last week
and they are predicting
more for this afternoon.

Pray for Eileen and Phillip.
They are both having heart problems.
Jon says thanks for the prayers.

"The beginning of wisdom
is the fear of the Lord,
and knowledge of the Holy One
is understanding."
Proverbs 9:10

Do you respect the Lord?
He is worthy of all your praise.
Do you think of him at all?
He is our loving Father.
Are you truly wise?
Who gave you your mind to think with?
Seek true wisdom that comes from above.
Seek the understanding of Jesus.
Then you will be truly wise.

(February 21, 1999 7:34 AM CST)

I read in the newspaper yesterday that
37,000 people per week tune in to
KGBI 100.7 FM for at least 5 minutes.
Great!

Jesus said,
"Father, forgive them;
they do not know
what they are doing."
Luke 23:34

If Jesus can forgive those who killed them,
then you can forgive everyone.
Yes, everyone.
They don't know what they are doing,
but you know what you are doing.
Forgive.
Love even those who hurt you.
Follow Jesus and his ways of love.

(February 20, 1999 7:32 AM CST)

"Therefore, take these words of mine
into your heart and soul.
Bind them at your wrist as a sign,
and let them be a pendant on your forehead.
Teach them to your children,
speaking of them at home and abroad,
whether you are busy or at rest.
And write them on the door posts of your houses
and on your gates, so that,
as long as the heavens are above the earth,
you and your children may live on in the land
which the Lord swore to your fathers
he would give them."
Deuteronomy 11:18-21

The people down the street from me
have a sign over their front door
that says: "Jesus is Lord".
I have a bumper sticker on my car
that says: "Spring back to life with Jesus".
Many churches have words written
on their interior walls for all to read.
They are reminders.
They are signs.
We need to be reminded.
There are things worth repeating.
What is truly important in this life?
Cherish the words of Jesus.
Read them over and over.
Read them to your children.
They are life.
They are eternal words.
The Lord has promised good things to you.
One day you will live in the promised land.
Every morning on my kitchen table I read
some of the words of Jesus.
It is a piece of paper I got from
Boys Town Dowd Chapel one day.
Here it is:
PUT "THANKS" BACK IN THE THANKSGIVING SEASON
I tried to type it just like it looks in print,
so you can print it also.
I couldn't duplicate all of the food stains
and spills on it. I've had it for maybe 3 years
and I really need my glasses to read it.
At first I did not need my glasses,
but my good eye (20/20 right) has become weaker.
I've read it so much I don't need to see
every word anymore. I just did a test print
and it is just about the same size.

(February 19, 1999 6:04 AM CST)

"Be imitators of God as his dear children.
Follow the way of love,
even as Christ loved you.
He gave himself for us
as an offering to God,
a gift of pleasing fragrance."
Ephesians 5:1-2

The Lord says to imitate him.
Be like him.
Follow him.
Follow his way of love.
Give of yourself.
Give of your time and energy.
Offer up your life to serve God.
Be pleasing to God.
Smell the roses .

(February 18, 1999 6:08 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"This is the time of fulfillment.
The reign of God is at hand!
Reform your lives and
believe in the gospel!"
Mark 1:15

Jesus says to reform.
Change your life.
You need it.
Your time has come.
Turn away from sin.
Turn toward holiness.
You are called to be holy.
Are you fulfilled?
Are you happy?
Do you have peace in your life?
Come and see.
Believe in Jesus and his power.

(February 17, 1999 6:10 AM CST)

Pray for Jon this morning.
He is having some tests done
to see what is wrong with him.
The Lord is our help!

It is Ash Wednesday today.
Easter is April 4th.
Do something to prepare for Easter.
Give up some TV watching and
use the time to read the Bible.
Give some money to help the poor
in your city.
Pray.
Set aside time to think about the Lord
and all that he has done for you.
Prepare.

"Happy is he whose fault is taken away,
whose sin is covered.
Happy the man to whom the Lord
imputes not guilt,
in whose spirit there is no guile."
Psalms 32:1-2

Admit it.
You did wrong.
Be honest.
Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive you.
Turn away from sin.
Turn toward the Lord.
Find happiness.
Be forgiven.

(February 16, 1999 6:12 AM CST)

"In you, O Lord, I take refuge;
let me never be put to shame.
In your justice rescue me, and deliver me;
incline your ear to me, and save me.
Be my rock of refuge,
a stronghold to give me safety,
for you are my rock and my fortress."
Psalms 71:1-3

God is your protection.
You are helpless.
The Lord is your refuge.
You need help.
Find the rock.
The rock that has not changed for
thousands of years.
Build your life on solid ground.
In New York City the buildings can be
extremely tall because of the rock below.
Be tall in the Lord.
Grow in holiness.
Stand for the Lord Jesus.

(February 15, 1999 6:07 AM CST)

Happy Birthday Jim!
God bless you.

"I am not ashamed of the gospel.
It is the power of God leading
everyone who believes in it to salvation."
Romans 1:16

Are you ashamed of Jesus?
You are a follower of his.
Do you admit it?
Do you show it?
He is the power of God.
He is wisdom and might.
Are you proud of him?
Is he your best friend?
Share what you know.
Bring the gospel of life
to those around you.

(February 14, 1999 7:34 AM CST)

Happy Valentine's Day!
If you are all alone,
remember that
God loves you!
They just read this on KGBI :

"God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son,
that whoever believes in him
may not die
but may have eternal life."
John 3:16

He loves you that much.
He gave his life for you.
Are you thankful?
Are you grateful?
Receive his love today.

(February 13, 1999 7:18 AM CST)

"Love is patient;
love is kind.
Love is not jealous,
it does not put on airs,
it is not snobbish.
Love is never rude,
it is not self-seeking,
it is not prone to anger;
neither does it brood over injuries.
Love does not rejoice in what is wrong
but rejoices with the truth.
There is no limit to love's forbearance,
to its trust,
its hope,
its power to endure.
Love never fails."
1 Corinthians 13:4-8

I once heard someone say to replace
the word "love" with your own name
and see if it is true.
If your name is Jose,
you would read:
Jose is patient,
Jose is kind, etc.
Is it true?
Check it out.

Last night when I drove home on Dodge Street
it just was not the same without all
the snow and ice. The road was dry.
It was hard to believe that just
the day before was so different.
The storms in life are the same way.
One day they are there and the next day
they are gone.
Jesus will help you.
Call on him.

Yesterday was trash day and somehow
I ended up with two trash cans
that are not mine. It was a little windy.
There are no house numbers on the cans.
Who do they belong to?
I can't keep them. They are not mine.
I think I will put a sign on them that
says: "Did you loose these?
Are they yours? They are not mine."
If you have trash cans, would you
please put your house number on them.
It would make life simpler.
You can learn from my neighbor's mistake.
I have house numbers on all of mine.
Why? Because one of mine blew away last year.
I think the neighbor across the street
has it. You can learn from my mistake.
Use some masking tape and write your
house number on it.

(February 12, 1999 6:03 AM CST)

Yesterday we had a snow and ice storm
pass through Omaha .
I left work early and drove west on
Dodge Street from downtown.
There were some hills that I almost
got stuck on. My wheels were
spinning, but I was barely moving.
The snow was blowing and there were
times when I could not see more than
100 feet. It was scary. At times I
wondered if I'd make it home,
but I did somehow.

"Six days later Jesus took Peter, James,
and his brother John and led them up
on a high mountain by themselves.
He was transfigured before their eyes.
His face became as dazzling as the sun,
his clothes as radiant as light.
Suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared
to them conversing with him."
Matthew 17:1-3

Jesus is God.
He comes to you today.
You can talk to him.
You can "climb a mountain" with him.
You can see him in all his glory.
Do you take the time?
Will you stop your busy day?
Come away.
You are very special to him.
He wants to show you many things.
He loves you.
He cares for you.
Go climbing.

(February 11, 1999 6:06 AM CST)

We set another record high yesterday
of 77 F degrees (25 C).

"I have sent him (Tychicus) to you
for the very purpose of giving you
news about me for your hearts' consolation.
May God the Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ
grant the brothers peace and love and faith.
Grace be with all who
love our Lord Jesus Christ with unfailing love."
Ephesians 6:22-24

God's love never fails.
He will console your heart.
He brings you news of peace and hope.
The Lord sends people to you.
You are not alone.
They will give you courage.
Console others.
Many people are hurting.
Be with them.

(February 10, 1999 6:07 AM CST)

Happy Birthday, Michelle.
God bless you!

"Give thanks to the Lord, invoke his name;
make known among the nations his deeds.
Sing to him, sing his praise,
proclaim all his wondrous deeds.
Glory in his holy name;
rejoice, O hearts that seek the Lord!"
Psalms 105:1-3

Seek the Lord.
Rejoice.
Praise his holy name.
Give glory to God.
He is deserving of all our praise.
Sing for joy.
Bless the Lord.
Give thanks.
Tell others about the Lord.
He is all goodness.
He is holy.
You have found the treasure.
Share it.

(February 9, 1999 6:06 AM CST)

"My brothers,
if someone is detected in sin,
you who live by the spirit
should gently set him right,
each of you trying to avoid
falling into temptation himself.
Help carry one another's burdens;
in that way you will
fulfill the law of Christ.
If anyone thinks he amounts to something,
when in fact he is nothing,
he is only deceiving himself."
Galatians 6:1-3

None of us are perfect.
We all fall.
We are sinners.
The Lord says:
get back up.
Continue on your journey.
Ask Jesus for forgiveness.
If you see someone that is lost,
point them in the right direction.
Give them a helping hand.
Help them up.
Give them an encouraging word.
Pray for others.
Ask Jesus to change their lives.
Ask Jesus to change your life.
He will gently lead you.

(February 8, 1999 6:06 AM CST)

"Three times I begged the Lord
that this might leave me.
He said to me,
'My grace is enough for you,
for in weakness power reaches perfection.'
And so I willingly boast
of my weaknesses instead,
that the power of Christ
may rest upon me."
2 Corinthians 12:8-9

Yes, you can make it.
You can do the will of God.
Christ provides you the strength.
You are weak.
He is strong.
Call on the name of the Lord.
Life is tough.
It is a trial.
Can you handle it?
With Jesus you can.

Jim is better.
Thanks for the prayers.
He was really sick.
Thank the Lord.

(February 7, 1999 7:32 AM CST)

"That night the Lord appeared at
Paul's side and said:
'Keep up your courage!
Just as you have given testimony to me
here in Jerusalem,
so must you do in Rome.'"
Acts 23:11

The Lord is talking to you.
Have courage.
He is with you.
Stand.
Jesus is there by your side.
He will send you to new people.
Share what you know.
He is life.
He is hope.
King Hussein has died,
but death is not the end.
You will live forever either
with God or without him.
Call on the name of Jesus.
Lord, have mercy on my soul
for I am a sinner.

(February 6, 1999 7:27 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"Do not let your hearts be troubled.
Have faith in God
and faith in me.
In my Father's house
there are many dwelling places;
otherwise, how could I have told you
that I was going to prepare
a place for you?"
John 14:1-2

Jesus says to have faith.
Do you?
Don't be troubled.
He has prepared a place for you.
Do you believe it?
Trust him.
May your heart be at peace.
He leads.
You follow.
He goes before you.
Have faith.

Yesterday, we set a record high of
64 F degrees (18 C).
It was warmer in Omaha
than it was in San Diego .

I found this one site on the Internet with
these colored dots that follow your mouse
around.
The animation picture reacts to the mouse.
You can like drive around
in this picture.
Cool!
Interesting effect.

(February 5, 1999 6:05 AM CST)

"You shall not fear the terror of the night
nor the arrow that flies by day;
Not the pestilence that roams in darkness
nor the devastating plague at noon.
Though a thousand fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right side,
near you it shall not come."
Psalms 91:5-7

Be not afraid. ------ (the music)
The Lord will protect you.
Are you under a lot of stress?
Call on the Lord for help.
He is your help.
Ask God to send his angels.
They will watch over you and your family.
Angels are very powerful.
Be at peace.
Do not fear.

(February 4, 1999 6:11 AM CST)

Pray for Jim and Katie.
They are sick.
Thanks.

"In contrast,
the fruit of the spirit is
love,
joy,
peace,
patient endurance,
kindness,
generosity,
faith,
mildness and
chastity.
Against such there is no law!
Those who belong to Christ Jesus
have crucified their flesh
with its passions and desires.
Since we live by the spirit,
let us follow the spirit's lead."
Galatians 5:22-25

Do you follow the Holy Spirit?
The Spirit leads you.
Yes, be kind and generous.
All these things listed ---
are they in your life?
Go down the list.
Write the list down.
Check yourself.
Make corrections.
Follow.
Belong to Jesus.
Be at peace.

(February 3, 1999 6:09 AM CST)

It's 42 F degrees (6 C) to start the day.
Not too bad.

"I speak the truth in Christ:
I do not lie.
My conscience bears me witness
in the Holy Spirit
that there is great grief and
constant pain in my heart."
Romans 9:1-2

Do you care?
Do you feel anything in your heart?
Many, many are lost.
They do not know the truth.
They don't know the way.
Tell the truth.
Share what you know.
Pray for those that don't know Jesus.
He is the one.
"Blessed forever be God
who is over all!
Amen."
Romans 9:5

(February 2, 1999 6:05 AM CST)

Jesus said,
"Were God your father
you would love me,
for I came forth from God,
and am here.
I did not come of my own will;
it was he who sent me.
Why do you not understand what I say?
It is because you cannot bear
to hear my word."
John 8:42-43

Do you understand?
Do you listen to Jesus?
First, read what he has to say.
Read the Bible.
Study the life of Jesus.
He was sent to bring the truth to you.
At least once per month I receive
an e-mail that is a hoax.
The latest hoax was about aspartame.
You read the e-mail.
It sounds so true,
but then the truth comes out.
It might take a few days or weeks,
but the truth will surface.
Our newspaper wrote about it last night.
That is the nature of truth.
It wants to be known.
Read about Jesus.
He is the way, the truth and the life.

(February 1, 1999 6:04 AM CST)

Last night I was flipping through the
TV channels and noticed a program
on TLC (The Learning Channel) on heart surgery.
It did not look like a heart.
The doctors had it cut open.
It obviously was not beating.
Then they were sowing it back up.
Later the heart was beating again ---
good, we all need a beating heart.
That was different --- that's for sure.
I've never seen heart surgery before.
Then I was thinking this morning
maybe we all need heart surgery
in a sense.

"This is the covenant which I will make
with the house of Israel after those days,
says the Lord.
I will place my law within them,
and write it upon their hearts;
I will be their God,
and they shall be my people."
Jeremiah 31:33

Ask the Lord to give you a new heart.
Ask.
He will change you.
He will show you how to love.
Just ask.
Is your heart beating?
