September 1 to 30, 1999

Pray for mercy
Love your neighbor

Time is short

(September 30, 1999 6:16 AM CDT)

Happy Birthday Sandi!
18,262 days and still going.

"Is there anyone sick among you?
He should ask for the presbyters
of the church.
They in turn are to pray over him,
anointing him with oil
in the name of the Lord.
This prayer uttered in faith
will reclaim the one who is ill,
and the Lord will restore him to health."
James 5:14-15

Prayer is a powerful thing.
Call on the leaders of your church.
Pray over the sick.
Go to the hospitals.
Anoint these people.
Restore them to health.
Tell them to ask forgiveness for their sins.
Restore their soul.
Bring peace to their mind.

(September 29, 1999 6:13 AM CDT)

Yesterday I received a phone call at work
from my Mom that one of my brothers
had been in a car accident.
A drunk driver had hit him at
18th and Martha Streets.
He does not remember the accident.
He is shaken up and the doctors
are watching for signs of problems,
since he might have a concussion.
I went to see him in the hospital.
So pray for him and the guy
that hit him.
Please take the keys away from anyone
that wants to drink and drive.
Thanks.

"Ground which drinks in the rain
falling on it again and again,
and brings forth vegetation
useful to those for whom it is cultivated,
receives the blessing of God."
Hebrews 6:7

God has blessed you.
Over and over he has poured out blessings.
Are you soaking it up?
Is there anything to show for it?
We see the floods in the news.
We see the rain falling.
What good can come from it?
Is it a disaster or a blessing?
There was a drought
and now it is apparently gone.
There are homeless people because of it.
So God pours out his love to you.
It is a flood.
It is overwhelming.
Do you return his love?
Is there a "drought" in your life?
How do you respond?

(September 28, 1999 6:07 AM CDT)

Keep praying for a friend.
She is still in pain.
She is going from doctor to doctor seeking help.
She needs a miracle.
Thanks.
Can God heal her?
Yes he can.

"Jesus showed amazement on hearing this,
and turned to the crowd
which was following him to say,
'I tell you,
I have never found so much faith
among the Israelites.'
When the deputation returned to the house,
they found the servant in perfect health."
Luke 7:9-10

Jesus wants to heal you.
He does.
He wants you to be restored to health.
He has the power.
Do you believe it?
Are you amazed at what he can do?
He wants to forgive your sins.
Will you ask for forgiveness?
This is the greatest healing --- spiritual.
You need your soul healed.
You need new life.
Physical healing is one thing,
but spiritual healing is the key.
Ask for healing and forgiveness.
Amaze the Lord.

(September 27, 1999 6:08 AM CDT)

"Remain at peace with one another.
We exhort you to admonish the unruly;
cheer the fainthearted;
support the weak;
be patient toward all.
See that no one returns evil to any other;
always seek one another's good and,
for that matter, the good of all."
1 Thessalonians 5:13-15

Peace.
Have you found it?
Live in peace.
Be at peace.
Help the weak.
Support them.
Change.
Do not return evil done to you.
Seek goodness.
See the good in others.
Encourage them to be holy.
Reread the words of God.
Live these words.
Change your life.

(September 26, 1999 6:45 AM CDT)

One of my favorite Christian music groups is
Avalon .
Today they will have a concert in
Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Check out their tour dates.

"Sing joyfully to God our strength
acclaim the God of Jacob.
Take up a melody, and sound the timbrel,
the pleasant harp and the lyre.
Blow the trumpet at the new moon,
at the full moon, on our solemn feast;
For it is a statute in Israel,
an ordinance of the God of Jacob,
Who made it a decree for Joseph
when he came forth from the land of Egypt ."
Psalms 81:1-6

Lord we praise you with music.
We sing for joy.
You have given us the gift of life.
You bless us this day.
Thank you for your many gifts.
How wonderful you are!
We are amazed.
We thank you for the full moon last night.
It was very bright.
Shine on us Lord.
We are not worthy.
Thank you for loving us.
We praise you Lord Jesus.
You are our joy.

(September 25, 1999 6:31 AM CDT)

"In the midst of their amazement
at all that he was doing,
Jesus said to his disciples:
'Pay close attention to what I tell you:
The Son of Man must be delivered
into the hands of men.'
They failed, however, to understand this warning;
its meaning was so concealed from them
they did not grasp it at all,
and they were afraid to question him
about the matter."
Luke 9:43-45

Are you afraid of Jesus?
Do you ever ask him questions?
Are you amazed at what he has done?
We don't always understand.
We don't see the point.
Jesus says to pay close attention.
See it all.
Take it all in.
He will explain later.
He does warn us.
We must follow him.
We will suffer.
It will be difficult,
but he is there.
He is the Son of Man.
He is God.
He is Lord.

(September 24, 1999 6:08 AM CDT)

"Come to him,
a living stone,
rejected by men but approved, nonetheless,
and precious in God's eyes.
You too are living stones,
built as an edifice of spirit,
into a holy priesthood,
offering spiritual sacrifices
acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."
1 Peter 2:4-5

What do you have to offer to God?
What can you give him?
Offer your life.
Give it up.
Present it to Jesus Christ.
He is the stone that was rejected.
Build your life on him.
Be solid.
Stand your ground.
Be firm.
You are precious.

(September 23, 1999 6:17 AM CDT)

Please, pray for Betty.
She has cancer .
God be with her and her family.

"Where is the wise man to be found?
Where the scribe?
Where is the master of worldly argument?
Has not God turned the wisdom
of this world into folly?"
1 Corinthians 1:20

Are you getting your advice from God or the world?
Who do you listen to?
Who is the final authority?
Look to God and his wisdom.
Seek his knowledge.
Ask him.
In other words...
don't read horoscopes.
It is hard to believe that they still print them
in our local newspaper in 1999.
Read the Bible.
See what God has to say.

(September 22, 1999 6:06 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Be on guard against performing religious acts
for people to see.
Otherwise expect no recompense
from your heavenly Father.
When you give alms, for example,
do not blow a horn before you
in synagogues and streets
like hypocrites looking for applause."
Matthew 6:1-2

If you give money to the poor,
don't go around telling everyone.
Keep it to yourself.
God will repay you.
It is between you and the Lord.
I used to wear a cross around my neck
at work years ago.
It was a sign for others to see.
Something had changed in my life.
People should know what you believe
whether you wear religious things or not.
Be that beautiful flower that
people are drawn to.
Instead of saying what great things you have done
share what Christ has done.

(September 21, 1999 6:11 AM CDT)

"Thanks be to God,
who unfailingly leads us on
in Christ's triumphal train,
and employs us to diffuse
the fragrance of his knowledge everywhere!
We are an aroma of Christ for God's sake,
both among those who are being saved
and those on the way to destruction;
to the latter an odor dealing death,
to the former a breath bringing life."
2 Corinthians 2:14-16

Be a breath of fresh air.
Be a pleasing fragrance.
Add beauty to the world.
Save those headed for destruction.
Bring new life.
Christ is the sweet fragrance.
You are the flower .
Be beautiful.

(September 20, 1999 6:04 AM CDT)

Yesterday at about 3:30 PM I had a flat tire
as I drove west on HWY 92 about 3 miles
east of Venice, Nebraska.
The tire had a nail in it.
There was a light rain falling.
The wind was out of the north.
We tried to get the bolts off the
right front tire.
They were on very tight because
a machine had been used to tighten them.
Some guy from Wahoo stopped to help us.
He works in the muffler shop there.
He got the bolts off very quickly and
put the new spare tire on.
It took him just a minute or two.
He knew what he was doing!
God bless him for helping us out.

"I lift up my eyes toward the mountains;
whence shall help come to me?
My help is from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
May he not suffer your foot to slip;
may he slumber not who guards you;
Indeed he neither slumbers nor sleeps,
the guardian of Israel."
Psalms 121:1-4

The Lord is there.
He will protect you.
He will deliver you.
Fear not.
He is with you.
Maybe you are stranded on the side of the road.
You don't know what to do.
You need help.
Jesus comes to rescue you.
He is the answer to your prayers.
He will save you.

(September 19, 1999 6:35 AM CDT)

"Tell those who are rich in this world's goods
not to be proud,
and not to rely on so uncertain a thing as wealth.
Let them trust in the God who provides us richly
with all things for our use."
1 Timothy 6:17

You have what you need.
Don't be proud of it.
God has given it to you.
Are you thankful?
The things of this world are temporary.
The spiritual gifts last forever.
Do you want something that lasts a few years
or something that lasts millions of years?
You decide what is important to you.
Use the things of this world to spread the good news.
Help the poor.
Live a life like Jesus.
Give and you will receive.
Use your spiritual gifts.
Build for eternity.

(September 18, 1999 7:46 AM CDT)

Prayer is now number 1 in the statistics
for spring2life.com.
Omaha has moved to number 2.
Yes, prayer is important!

"In everything you do,
act without grumbling or arguing;
prove yourselves innocent and straightforward,
children of God beyond reproach
in the midst of a twisted and depraved generation ---
among whom you shine like the stars in the sky
while holding fast to the word of life."
Philippians 2:14-16

Grumble, grumble, grumble ---
is that you?
Well, prove that it is not you.
Get on that straight path to holiness.
Stay away from the twisted and depraved things.
Be a shining star .
Live the word.
Pray the word.
Be innocent.

(September 17, 1999 6:14 AM CDT)

"What we have heard and know,
and what our fathers have declared to us,
We will not hide from their sons;
we will declare to the generation to come
The glorious deeds of the Lord and his strength
and the wonders that he wrought."
Psalms 78:3-4

The Lord has been good to you.
Share that with the next generation.
Tell them of what the Lord has done.
Do not hide it.
Declare the glory of God.
Share the wonder of it all.
The Lord Jesus is awesome.

(September 16, 1999 6:16 AM CDT)

Embrace Omaha made the front page of the
newspaper yesterday.
Pray for your neighbors wherever you are.
See You At The Pole
was also in the newspaper.
Lots of good news.

"I am sure of this much:
that he who has begun
the good work in you
will carry it through to completion,
right up to the day of Christ Jesus."
Philippians 1:6

You belong to the Lord.
He has called you.
You are his.
You are here to do his work.
There is a plan.
You are part of it.
One day it will be completed.
Do your part.
Be a witness of love.
Be a peacemaker.
Embrace others.
Draw them to Jesus Christ.
He is the author of the plan.

(September 15, 1999 6:08 AM CDT)

"Just at that point,
some Jews from Antioch and Iconium arrived
and won the people over.
They stoned Paul and
dragged him out of the town,
leaving him there for dead.
His disciples quickly formed a circle about him,
and before long he got up and
went back into the town."
Acts 14:19-20

Miracles do happen.
Prayers are answered.
The Word of God continues to be spread.
Pray together.
Focus your prayer.
Get up after you have been knocked down.
Continue the struggle.
Win people over.
Go where the Lord sends you.
You may look dead,
but the Lord brings you back to life.
Pray for miracles.

(September 14, 1999 6:04 AM CDT)

"Jesus now called the Twelve together
and gave them power and authority
to overcome all demons and to cure diseases.
He sent them forth to proclaim
the reign of God and heal the afflicted."
Luke 9:1-2

You have power.
If you are a follower of Jesus,
you have the authority.
Pray for people that are sick.
My kitchen table has pieces of paper
with names of people that are sick.
Each morning I pray for them.
Jesus heal them.
I expect my prayers to be answered.
I expect great things.
Every once in a while I get back news
that someone I've prayer for is better.
Thank the Lord.
He is good.

(September 13, 1999 6:00 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Love your enemy and do good;
lend without expecting repayment.
Then will your recompense be great.
You will rightly be called sons of the Most High,
since he himself is good
to the ungrateful and the wicked."
Luke 6:35

God is good.
He loves everyone.
He cares for all people.
He gives and gives and gives.
Are you grateful?
Do you ever say "Thank you"?
He loves his enemies.
He gives to those who are in need.
We should do the same.
Give.

(September 12, 1999 6:37 AM CDT)

"Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness;
in the greatness of your compassion
wipe out my offense.
Thoroughly wash me from my guilt
and of my sin cleanse me."
Psalms 51:3-4

We have done wrong.
It is true of David.
It is true of us.

David said to Nathan,
"I have sinned against the Lord."
Nathan answered David,
"The Lord on his part has forgiven your sin:
you shall not die."
2 Samuel 12:13

Ask for forgiveness.
The Lord is full of mercy.
He will give you new life.

(September 11, 1999 7:48 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"The healthy do not need a doctor;
sick people do.
I have not come to invite the self-righteous
to a change of heart, but sinners."
Luke 5:31-32

Are you sick?
Do you need a doctor?
Jesus is a healer.
He comes to heal your soul.
You have been injured.
You are in pain.
Jesus is there.
He is love.
He will restore you to health.
Several of you are dead.
You need to come back to life.
I saw a license plate yesterday:
"2 LIFE".
It is a message from God to you.
Come to life.
You need Jesus.
Jesus is life.

I saw a funny sign the other day also:
"The more you complain,
the longer God lets you live."
or how about...
"Born free --- taxed to death."

(September 10, 1999 6:05 AM CDT)

"My little ones,
I am writing this to keep you from sin.
But if anyone should sin, we have,
in the presence of the Father,
Jesus Christ, an intercessor who is just.
He is an offering for our sins,
and not for our sins only,
but for those of the whole world."
1 John 2:1-2

Sin.
Does anyone talk about sin anymore?
Do you ever sin?
Maybe you are perfect and never sin.
That is possible, but not very likely.
We are blind to our own sin.
We don't see it.
Others can easily point out our faults.
Now why is that?
We think we are doing alright.
We are not fair with ourselves.
We need to take a closer look.
We need feedback from others.
Don't deceive yourself.
If there is no sin,
you don't need a Savior.
Find the sin and repent.
Change.
The feeling is great.
Jesus will forgive your sin.
That is why he came.
You might want to pray the prayer on
January 25, 1997 .

(September 9, 1999 6:04 AM CDT)

Happy Birthday Jerry!
God bless you.

It's 9-9-99.
I don't think anything will happen today.
999999 was the end of file marker
in COBOL programs that I used to work on
years ago --- not 090999.

"Peace be with you."
3 John 1:15

Are you are peace?
Do you get along with others?
Are you always upset with
the way someone does something?
Check yourself.
When you go to bed at night
is your mind spinning with many thoughts?
Can you relax?
Can you sit still?
Let go and let God.
Have trust in God.
He will provide for all your needs.
Today will have its challenges.
God is there.
Do not worry.
Be still.
He is God.
You are his child.
Listen to this music (Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D) ,
if you need more help.

(September 8, 1999 6:04 AM CDT)

"...I saw before me a huge crowd
which no one could count
from every nation and race, people and tongue.
They stood before the throne and the Lamb,
dressed in long white robes
and holding palm branches in their hands.
They cried out in a loud voice,
'Salvation is from our God,
who is seated on the throne,
and from the Lamb!'"
Revelation 7:9-10

Jesus is the Lamb.
He was slain.
He died.
He is honored.
All nations praise him.
All peoples sing their hymns to him.
All lift up their hands in praise.
Praise the Lord today.
(Are you in that large crowd?)

(September 7, 1999 6:08 AM CDT)

"Blessed be the name of God
forever and ever,
for wisdom and power are his.
He causes the changes of the times and seasons,
makes kings and unmakes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to those who understand.
He reveals deep and hidden things
and knows what is in the darkness,
for the light dwells with him."
Daniel 2:20-22

Do you think you know more than God?
Do you think you can make it by yourself?
If so, you are fooling yourself.
You are lost and need directions.
Will you ask for help?
Will you seek God's help?
Pray each morning.
Lord, help me through this day.
Give me direction.
Give me wisdom.
Show me your way.
Reveal to me your thoughts.
Show me those in need.
Give me understanding to help them.
Touch me, Lord.
I think I know it all.
Humble me.
Show me to be dependent instead of independent.
I need you, Lord.
Help me.

(September 6, 1999 8:53 AM CDT)

This morning I was out for a walk at Boys Town .
I like to look for spider webs
in the morning sunshine.
It is amazing to see what they have made.
Some webs are several feet in length.
They rely on the wind to help them
span these distances.
There is a large web in front of the
southwest door of the Chambers Protestant Chapel .
Apparently that door is not used very often.
It is on the left side of this picture
out of view.
The picture is looking west.

"Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord;
we bless you from the house of the Lord.
The Lord is God;
and he has given us light.
Join in procession with leafy boughs
up to the horns of the altar."
Psalms 118:26-27

Come together...
in the name of the Lord.
Worship the Lord.
Praise him.
Sing songs to him.
Lift up your hands.
Where two or more are gathered
Jesus is there.
Feel the joy of the Lord.
Come into his holy light.
Receive blessings in abundance.
Experience his love.
Reach out to others.
I see so many people
spinning webs of darkness and evil.
Break through them.
Free them from the trap.
Spin a web of harmony.
Make it beautiful.
Let the sun shine on it.

(September 5, 1999 6:46 AM CDT)

This week Billy Graham
will have a TV program
called "A Vow to Cherish".
You can search these TV Listings .
In Omaha it is on channel 15 KXVO
Friday, September 10th at 7 PM.
In Kearney/Hastings it is on channel 13 KHGI
Thursday, September 9th at 7:30 PM.
In Corpus Christi it is on channel 10 KZTV
Friday, September 10th at 7:30 PM.

"We are not among those
who draw back and perish,
but among those who
have faith and live."
Hebrews 10:39

Continue.
It is a struggle.
You have your faith.
You have Christ.
Continue forward.
Make progress each day.
Come closer and closer to Jesus.
If you fall, get back up.
Don't quit.
Keep moving toward God.
Live.
Live for God.
Keep the faith.
Don't let it go.
Seek the Lord with all that you are.
Don't perish.
Live life.

(September 4, 1999 6:19 AM CDT)

This morning you can hear the rolling thunder.
I bet we get some rain.

"Finally, my brothers,
your thoughts should be wholly directed to
all that is true,
all that deserves respect,
all that is honest,
pure,
admirable,
decent,
virtuous,
or worthy of praise."
Philippians 4:8

A few days ago I wrote about
controlling your thoughts.
It is not easy.
There is so much evil in the world.
We are under attack.
Are your thoughts pure?
Do you speak the truth?
It takes an effort to be decent.
You need to respect others.
Give them praise, if they do something great.
In my humble opinion (IMHO),
a Christian should not go
to 'R' rated movies.
What do you "think" about that?
Can you see and hear all those things in a movie
and not be impacted?
Movies are a very powerful medium.
They can really affect your mind.
Protect your mind.
Protect your thoughts.
It makes "thinking" so much easier.

(September 3, 1999 6:01 AM CDT)

Yesterday afternoon when I was driving home
on West Dodge Road I saw a bumper sticker:
got Jesus?
(A reference to: got milk? )
The word "got" looks strange to me this morning.
Just stare at it.
It's like it is missssssssspelled.
Or maybe it's just me.

Jesus said,
"Who is the faithful, farsighted servant
whom the master has put in charge
of his household to dispense food at need?
Happy that servant whom his master
discovers at work on his return!"
Matthew 24:45-46

The Lord has given you something --- life.
What are you doing with it?
He has given you food.
Do you share with those in need?
The Lord will return one day.
We don't know when.
Will you be found working on his return?
That is a good question for you.
As you go through your life today
maybe stop once an hour and
ask yourself if Jesus would return at that moment
and find you doing whatever you are doing,
would it please him?
Would you be embarrassed?

(September 2, 1999 6:02 AM CDT)

"Indeed, many dogs surround me,
a pack of evildoers closes in upon me;
They have pierced my hands and my feet;
I can count all my bones.
They look on and gloat over me;
they divide my garments among them,
and for my vesture they cast lots."
Psalms 22:17-19

This is a prophecy.
It told about the future.
It was written a few hundred
years before Christ was born.
It tells about the scene at the cross:

"After the soldiers had crucified Jesus
they took his garments and divided
them four ways, one for each soldier."
John 19:23

The prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus.
It is proof that the Bible is true.
It is the Word of God.
It is something you can base your life on.
Read the Bible.
Study the Bible.
See what God has to say about your future.

(September 1, 1999 6:01 AM CDT)

"Bow humbly under God's mighty hand,
so that in due time he may lift you high.
Cast all your cares on him
because he cares for you.
Stay sober and alert.
Your opponent the devil is
prowling like a roaring lion
looking for someone to devour."
1 Peter 5:6-8

Hello?
Are you there?
Pay attention, please.
The devil is out to destroy you.
What are you going to do about it?
Stay sober.
That's a good idea.
Be alert.
Excellent answer.
Pray.
Can't go wrong there.
Fast.
You are in training mode.
Get help from others.
Wonderful approach.
Control your thoughts.
Submit your thoughts to God's purity.
Ask for forgiveness.
Clean up your life.
Call on the name of Jesus.
The Lord bless you!
