July 1 to 31, 1999

Can you hear him?
He is the way

Live the truth

Be strong

Be alive

Tell others about Jesus

1990s Paradoxes

(July 31, 1999 6:19 AM CDT)

"Brothers, since the blood of Jesus
assures our entrance into the sanctuary
by the new and living path he has opened up
for us through the veil,
and since we have a great priest
who is over the house of God,
let us draw near in utter sincerity
and absolute confidence,
our hearts sprinkled clean from the evil
which lay on our conscience and
our bodies washed in pure water."
Hebrews 10:19-22

Have confidence.
Be washed in pure water.
Come before God.
Approach him.
Ask him for mercy.
Clear your conscience.
Ask him to forgive all your sins.
He opened the veil .
His blessings pour forth.
Be sincere.
Draw near.
He loves you.
He shed his blood for you.
Jesus is the great priest.
He blesses you.
He is the path.
Enter in.

(July 30, 1999 6:04 AM CDT)

"My prayer is that your
sharing of the faith with others
may enable you to know all the good
which is ours in Christ.
I find great joy and comfort in your love,
because through you the hearts of God's people
have been refreshed."
Philemon 1:6-7

Share what you have.
Share the joy that you know.
Share the love that you feel.
Christ has been good to you.
He has changed you.
He has comforted you.
You are renewed and refreshed.
He is your Savior.
You know it.
Now go share it.

Today is the last day for Heath
on KGBI 100.7 FM in Omaha.
Send him an email to thank him.

(July 29, 1999 6:01 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Declare a tree good and its fruit good
or declare a tree rotten and its fruit rotten ,
one or the other,
for you can tell a tree by its fruit."
Matthew 12:33

Look at your life.
You are a tree.
Are you growing?
Are you beautiful?
Does your life bear fruit in other's lives?
Have you changed them for the good?
What is the result?
You can see.
Take a look.
We all have an impact on each other.
Share goodness.
Be a good fruit.

(July 28, 1999 6:03 AM CDT)

"The grace of God has appeared,
offering salvation to all men.
It trains us to reject godless ways
and worldly desires,
and live temperately, justly, and devoutly
in this age
as we await our blessed hope,
the appearing of the glory
of the great God and
of our Savior Christ Jesus."
Titus 2:11-13

Grace is a gift.
It is a gift to you.
Christ sends it to you.
Will you receive it?
Will you let it change you?
Reject the godless ways of this life.
Live for the Lord.
Avoid extravagance.
Serve the needs of others.
Desire goodness.
Be fair.
Be just.
Be devoted to your family.
Watch for the glory of God.
Look up.
Jesus will return one day.
He is your Savior.
Prepare to receive him.

(July 27, 1999 6:03 AM CDT)

"Your decrees are worthy of trust indeed:
holiness befits your house,
O Lord, for length of days."
Psalms 93:5

How long is a day?
24 hours or 1,440 minutes or 86,400 seconds?
How long is a "day" for God?
1,000 years, maybe, spanning many generations?
Today is the day of the Lord.
It is now.
It is right now.
It is very short for us.
It is very long for God.
He is calling you to his house.
He says to come and visit.
Get to know him.
Be with him.
Be spiritually fit.
Enjoy the moment.
You are with Jesus.
He is the teacher.
He is trying to share with you
what he knows.
Come and see.
Stay for "the day".

(July 26, 1999 6:01 AM CDT)

"God has saved us and
has called us to a holy life,
not because of any merit of ours
but according to his own design ---
the grace held out to us in Christ Jesus
before the world began
but now made manifest
through the appearance of our Savior."
2 Timothy 1:9-10

Once again today you are called.
Over and over it repeats.
Live a holy life.
This is the design.
This is the plan.
Use the grace of God.
Jesus gives it to you.
Triumph over evil.
Confess your sins.
Ask for mercy.
Ask and it shall be given to you.
What is written on the manifest?
What is given to you?
What is in store for you?
It will be a surprise.
It will be wonderful.
Read the manifest (the Bible).
It will be just what you need.
Be holy.

(July 25, 1999 6:29 AM CDT)

"When they came to Skull Place ,
as it was called,
they crucified Jesus there
and the criminals as well,
one on his right and the other on his left.
Jesus said,
'Father, forgive them;
they do not know what they are doing.'
They divided his garments,
rolling dice for them."
Luke 23:33-34

Jesus forgave them.
They killed him and he forgave.
He set an example.
Follow him.
Do what he did.
Forgive.
Forgive all who have hurt you.
Do not hold any grudges.
I mean it.
I am serious.
This is important.
A Christian forgives and forgives and forgives.
Do you understand?
There are no exceptions.
Forgive.
Jesus, help me to forgive.
It is hard for me.
I need you.
Teach me how to love.
I forgive all who have hurt me in any way.
I ask you to bless them.
Help me, Lord.

(July 24, 1999 6:15 AM CDT)

"To the King of ages,
the immortal, the invisible,
the only God, be honor and glory
forever and ever! Amen."
1 Timothy 1:17

He is the King.
He is royalty.
He reigns forever and ever.
He is immortal.
Worship him.
Praise Jesus Christ.
He is the Lord.
Bless the Lord.
Praise his name.
Sing songs of praise.
He is great.
He is awesome.
Amen.

(July 23, 1999 6:11 AM CDT)

"We pray for you always
that our God may make you worthy
of his call, and fulfill by his power
every honest intention and work of faith."
2 Thessalonians 1:11

He calls you.
You are called.
He wants you.
You are wanted.
Be a faithful witness.
Be a follower of Jesus.
Be worthy of this call.
Have good intentions.
Seek to do good.
Work for the faith.
Live your faith.
Act your faith.
Be honest.
Be fulfilled.

(July 22, 1999 6:03 AM CDT)

Funerals are so hard.
You cry so much.
You hurt so much.
Pray for Mary's family and friends.
She suffered a lot.
Now she has gone home.
I think this was one of the readings:

"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name: you are mine.
When you pass through the water,
I will be with you;
in the rivers you shall not drown.
When you walk through fire,
you shall not be burned;
the flames shall not consume you.
For I am the Lord, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your savior."
Isaiah 43:1-3

Will there be hard times in your life?
Yes.
Will you suffer?
Yes.
But God is there.
He will save you.
He will help you.
You are not alone.
The pastor in the sermon asked,
"Are you holy?"
The little girl in front of me
who was maybe 5 years old nodded "Yes".
It was cute.
Be holy.
The Lord is with you.

(July 21, 1999 6:02 AM CDT)

"They that hope in the Lord
will renew their strength,
they will soar as with eagles' wings;
They will run and not grow weary,
walk and not grow faint."
Isaiah 40:31

The Lord Jesus is your hope.
He is your strength.
That is what keeps you going.
He is your source.
Run with him each day.
Walk with him.
Don't faint.
He will lift you up.

Today I'm going to a funeral at 10 AM
for Mary from the prayer group that
I used to attend a few years ago.
I can remember visiting her at Clarkson Hospital
and praying with her.
I was in the hospital ministry.
She had a kidney transplant, if I remember correctly.
She was the same age as me.
She loved Jesus.
So pray for her and her family.
May we all one day be with the Lord.

(July 20, 1999 6:01 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Let the little children come to me.
Do not shut them off.
The reign of God belongs to such as these.
Trust me when I tell you that
whoever does not accept the kingdom of God
as a child will not enter into it."
Luke 18:16-17

Trust the Lord with all your heart.
Seek him for protection and safety.
Follow him around.
Talk to him.
Ask him questions.
Believe in miracles.
Have fun.
Jump for joy.
Make new friends.
Smile.
Be innocent.
Be kind.
Be thoughtful.
Share what you have.
Pray before you go to bed at night.
Give your Mom and Dad a hug and a kiss.
Keep life simple.

(July 19, 1999 6:07 AM CDT)

"As regards brotherly love,
there is no need for me to write you.
God himself has taught you to love one another,
and this you are doing with respect
to all the brothers throughout Macedonia .
Yet we exhort you to even greater progress, brothers.
Make it a point of honor to remain at peace
and attend to your own affairs."
1 Thessalonians 4:9-11

God will teach you.
He will guide you.
Who needs your help today?
Just think about it.
There are so many in need.
The Lord exhorts you.
It will honor him.
It will please him.
Make progress each day.
Grow in love and grace.
Jesus is your teacher.
Respect him.
Love him.
Honor him.
Praise him.

(July 18, 1999 7:10 AM CDT)

We pray for the Kennedy family today.
It is a sad day as they search for the airplane.
Lord, be with them and comfort them.

"Here comes with power the Lord God,
who rules by his strong arm;
Here is his reward with him,
his recompense before him.
Like a shepherd he feeds his flock;
in his arms he gathers the lambs,
Carrying them in his bosom,
and leading the ewes with care."
Isaiah 40:10-11

He is power.
He is strength.
He has made the universe.
He has created all things.
He is all powerful.
He is the Lord God.
And he is also shepherd.
He cares for us.
He is concerned about us.
He carries us.
He protects us.
He leads us.
He is the good shepherd.
Let him hold you in his arms.
He loves you.

(July 17, 1999 7:09 AM CDT)

"God has willed to make known to them
the glory beyond price
which this mystery brings to the Gentiles ---
the mystery of Christ in you,
your hope of glory."
Colossians 1:27

God is there.
He tells you he is there.
He reveals who he is.
He sent his Son Jesus Christ.
He came to earth.
It is a mystery.
It is priceless.
Can you grasp this?
Do you have hope?
Can you see his glory?
Repent and believe.
Turn around.
Go for God's glory.
Believe it is true.
It is your hope.
It is your only hope of glory.

(July 16, 1999 6:08 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
to you I offer praise;
for what you have hidden
from the learned and the clever
you have revealed
to the merest children."
Matthew 11:25

You don't have to be a genius.
You don't have to be clever.
All you have to do is believe.
It is called faith.
Do you trust the Father above?
Do you pray to him?
Look to the children.
It is simple.
It is not complicated.
Have faith.
Trust.
Jesus will do what he promised.
He will raise you up on the last day.
He will provide shelter from the storm.
He will lift you up when you fall.
He will show you the way and truth.
He will be with you until the end of time.
You are not alone.
Keep life simple.

(July 15, 1999 6:05 AM CDT)

"As you well know,
we have our citizenship in heaven;
it is from there that we eagerly
await the coming of our Savior,
the Lord Jesus Christ.
He will give a new form
to this lowly body of ours
and remake it according to the pattern
of his glorified body,
by his power
to subject everything to himself."
Philippians 3:20-21

You are made for heaven.
The things of the earth will not satisfy you.
Jesus will show you what is important.
He will give you new form.
Your lowly body will be remade.
The pattern is not yours.
The pattern comes from Christ.
Follow in his glory and power.
He is coming again.
Prepare his way.
The subject is life.
Will you pass the test?

(July 14, 1999 6:04 AM CDT)

Happy Birthday, Monica!
God bless you.

Last night there was a TV program that
talked about the flights to the moon.
This is the picture of earth from the moon .
On Christmas Eve, 1968
they read from the Bible
while orbiting the moon.

"In the beginning,
when God created the heavens and the earth,
the earth was a formless wasteland,
and darkness covered the abyss,
while a mighty wind swept over the waters.
Then God said,
'Let there be light,' and there was light.
God saw how good the light was."
Genesis 1:1-4

Yes, let there be light.
Let us see.
Drive the darkness away.
How dark space is.
How empty it is.
How bright the sun is.
Study that picture.
See just where you are in space.
Come to the light created by God.
Come and find hope in all the emptiness.
It is good.
It is made by God.
Come to a safe place.
Come home.

(July 13, 1999 6:06 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Do not let them intimidate you.
Nothing is concealed that
will not be revealed,
and nothing hidden
that will not become known.
What I tell you in darkness,
speak in the light.
What you hear in private,
proclaim from the housetops."
Matthew 10:26-27

Don't be afraid of speaking the truth.
Jesus is the truth.
Don't keep it a secret.
You know what is important.
Tell someone.
Don't keep it to yourself.
You can't hide the light anyway, can you?
People will notice you are different.
You are happy and at peace.
They will notice and ask why.
Share the reason.
Make Jesus known.
Bring him to light.

(July 12, 1999 6:03 AM CDT)

"Glorify the Lord, O Jerusalem;
praise your God, O Zion.
For he has strengthened
the bars of your gates;
he has blessed your children within you.
He has granted peace in your borders;
with the best of wheat he fills you.
He sends forth his command to the earth;
swiftly runs his word!"
Psalms 147:12-15

It is fast.
It is like lightning.
It is the word of God.
It is from God to you.
It changes you.
It renews you.
It gives you peace.
It blesses your children.
It strengthens you.
It opens the gates of heaven.
It raises you up.
It is just for you.
It is just what you need.
Read it.
Dwell on it.
Glorify the Lord.

(July 11, 1999 7:15 AM CDT)

Yesterday I typed in 1990s Paradoxes .
I don't know the author.
It was on our editorial page
in our local newspaper about
I know, it took me a long time
to type it in, but it's done now.
I read about time management
a few days ago.
And making time to do things.
Making a list.

Jesus said,
"Everyone who practices evil
hates the light;
he does not come near it
for fear his deeds will be exposed.
But he who acts in truth
comes into the light,
to make clear
that his deeds are done in God."
John 3:20-21

Turn on the light.
Let the whole world know
what you are doing.
Does that scare you?
What do you have to hide?
What would Jesus do (WWJD)?
What would you do?
Are you with him or against him?
Is light or dark?
Which is it?
Choose light.
Live light.
So many questions...
do you have the answer?
(Hint: Jesus)

(July 10, 1999 7:30 AM CDT)

"I have learned how to cope
with every circumstance ---
how to eat well or go hungry,
to be well provided for
or do without.
In him who is the source of my strength
I have strength for everything."
Philippians 4:12-13

Are you strong?
Can you do without?
Are you hungry?
The Lord is your strength.
He is your joy.
He provides all your needs.
He is the source.
You need him.
Don't try life by yourself.
Jesus is everything.
You are well provided for.

At least once a week I update the
Statistics for this site.
I have to go get them manually
from another site and save them
on my PC and FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
them to here.
At the moment omaha.html is the most popular.
People must do searches for "omaha"
and end up here.

(July 9, 1999 6:03 AM CDT)

"I declare and solemnly attest in the Lord
that you must no longer live
as the pagans do --- their minds empty,
their understanding darkened.
They are estranged from a life in God
because of their ignorance and their resistance;
without remorse they have abandoned themselves
to lust and the indulgence of every sort
of lewd conduct.
That is not what you learned
when you learned Christ!"
Ephesians 4:17-20

As you live,
what do you declare?
What do you attest?
Does your life proclaim light
or does it proclaim darkness?
Is your mind empty or
do you think of God and his goodness?
Is God a stranger to you?
Have you met Jesus Christ?
Have you abandoned him?
Have remorse.
Learn of Christ.
Be a student of the Lord.
Study his ways.
Fill your mind with his understanding.
Conduct your life.
Live light.

(July 8, 1999 6:02 AM CDT)

"I have been crucified with Christ,
and the life I live now
is not my own;
Christ is living in me.
I still live my human life,
but it is a life of faith
in the Son of God,
who loved me and gave himself for me.
I will not treat
God's gracious gift as pointless."
Galatians 2:19-21

Christ gave up a lot.
He suffered.
He died.
Have you given up anything?
Have you changed at all?
Have you helped your neighbor?
You need new life.
The old ways of sin are pointless.
You have been given this gift.
Are you living the gift?
Do you love more?
Do you pray?
Has your faith grown?
Are you different?
Change.

(July 7, 1999 6:05 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"God is not the God of the dead
but of the living.
All are alive for him."
Luke 20:38

One day you will die.
You will face death.
Will it be the end
or will it be the beginning?
With Jesus life goes on.
Life is transformed.
Without him all is lost.
He is the God of the living.
So are you alive?
Are there any signs of life?
Just now this little black spider
ran by my computer mouse
and on to the floor.
The carpet is forest green,
so it can easily run and hide.
Death will scare you,
if you are not prepared.
It will surprise you.
Are you prepared?
Are you alive?

(July 6, 1999 6:04 AM CDT)

"Give thanks to the Lord, invoke his name;
make known among the nations his deeds.
Sing to him, sing his praise,
proclaim all his wondrous deeds.
Glory in his holy name;
rejoice, O hearts that seek the Lord!
Look to the Lord in his strength;
seek to serve him constantly."
Psalms 105:1-4

Call on his name.
Thank the Lord.
Praise the Lord.
He is your strength.
He is your song.
Have a heart.
Seek him.
Rejoice always.
Be glad.
Constantly serve.
Be of service.
He is the Lord.
He is God.
Proclaim it.
It is the truth.

(July 5, 1999 7:23 AM CDT)

"My fear is that,
just as the serpent deceived Eve
by his cunning,
your thoughts may be corrupted
and you may fall away from
your sincere and complete
devotion to Christ."
2 Corinthians 11:3

Are you devoted?
Are you sincere?
Follow Jesus.
Let there be no hesitation.
Let there be no wandering.
It is easy to fall away.
It is easy to get lost.
Stay close to Jesus.
Stay close to his followers.
Don't go off on your own.
Read the Bible every day.
This is your mission.
Attend church each week.
Do good works.
Be of service.
Guard your thoughts.
Push evil thoughts away quickly.
The forces of evil want to destroy you.
Stay close.
God be with you.
God is with you.

(July 4, 1999 6:55 AM CDT)

Happy Fourth of July.
Keep it a safe one.
Be nice to the other drivers on the road.

"Who would believe what we have heard?
To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"
Isaiah 53:1

You know Jesus.
He is the Lord.
We believe.
How could others believe?
How would they get to such a place?
The Lord reveals himself to all.
He presents himself to them.
Some will believe some will not.
He knocks on the door.
Sometimes the door opens and sometimes not.
It takes faith.
Faith can be caught.
It cannot be taught.
Be with others.
Share faith.
Share life.
It is the Lord.
It is the power of God.
Be amazed.
The Lord is full of surprises.
It is like that tree in my backyard.
Back on April 16th I thought
it was dead,
but you look at it now
and it has leaves all over it.
It looked dead, but it was not.
That is life.
We don't know what will happen.
Some people will find Jesus and find life ---
others will not and will die.
There is hope.
Share life.
Find life.

(July 3, 1999 6:37 AM CDT)

Jesus said,
"Be on guard
lest your spirits become bloated
with indulgence and drunkenness
and worldly cares.
The great day will suddenly
close in on you like a trap.
The day I speak of will come upon all
who dwell on the face of the earth.
So be on the watch.
Pray constantly for the strength
to escape whatever is in prospect,
and to stand secure before the Son of Man."
Luke 21:34-36

Don't get distracted.
Yes, the Stock Market hit another
record high yesterday,
but keep focused.
Money is not that important.
Don't get drunk.
Don't indulge yourself in this world.
Seek God.
That is your security.
Yes, the day will come.
The world will end.
We know it,
but do we live it?
Pray today.
Pray every day.
Pray for strength.
You need it.
I need it.
Keep watch.
Be ready.
Welcome Jesus.
He is the way ---
the only way.

(July 2, 1999 5:57 AM CDT)

"Be on your guard,
stand firm in the faith,
and act like men.
In a word, be strong.
Do everything with love."
1 Corinthians 16:13-14

If temptation comes your way today
are you ready?
Are you prepared?
Are your defenses up?
Be strong.
Pray for strength.
Jesus, be with me today.
Help me to please you.
Give me strength.
Lead me.
Guide me.
Hold me close.
You are my everything.
Help me to love.
Help me to give of my time.
Help me to think of others.
Use me, Lord.
Let me be like you.
Give me grace.
We thank you.
We bless you.
We praise you this day.

"I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall be ever in my mouth.
Let my soul glory in the Lord;
the lowly will hear me and be glad.
Glorify the Lord with me,
let us together extol his name."
Psalms 34:1-4

Do you hear the Lord?
Can you hear his voice?
The lowly will hear.
Change your life.
Be humble.
Don't brag about yourself.
How great are you?
Listen.
Listen to others.
Take an interest in them.
Give them genuine compliments.
Encourage.
Then you can give glory to God.
Praise the name of Jesus.
He listened.
He was present to others.
He suffered with them.
The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
Take it.
Leave it.
Make it happen.
Then you can hear.
Listen.
God is speaking.
